Also worth to mention is the good support offered by DJI. My Pocket 3 unfortunately had a faulty camera unit that lead to ugly big light spots in the image. As I only had it for 6 weeks it was covered by warranty. I could send it in free of charge and got it back repaired within a week.
I bought this pocket 3 and to this day, months later, I'm amazed by this footage coming from the camera. It's just stunning. I would like DJI to add some sort of water resistance to the pocket 4. I'd also like to see some internal ND filters and that would complete the perfection

I have both but my go to is the action 4 as I know there’s little fear of it getting damaged and it just delivers on most occasions. I really need to try and use the pocket more.
Been using mine now for about 6 months now and still love it. My only issue, I feel like I can't just throw it in my pocket on the go. I'm afraid I'd bend over and snap the gimbal. As a "daily vlogger" I tend to use my iPhone more on the go just for this reason.
Very accurate summary of owning a DOP3. I love the footage I get out of this when I'm out on hikes, I find myself doing more and more video because it's easier to carry around. It's not as heavy as an A7S3/A74, it's more discrete, not intimidating. The only downside really is that it's fragile, especially when in storage you need to make sure the gimbal head is covered and protected properly. Only thing I'd want to see if just a normal autofocus mode where you can track an object, but the gimbal head doesn't follow. I find tracking the most accurate AF mode, as AF is quite hit and miss, I just don't want it to always track. I hope that for the DOP4 they increase the USBC speeds to USB3 (10Gbps).
Recently I have been watching videos shot in Chinese Street markets which show everything in close detail sometimes at night, sometimes in the day. And I thought, there is only one camera which could do that, getting right in there, not making people too camera shy, excellent quality, great sound. And then I glimpsed a shadow of the videographer (very talented young woman) and yes, it was the unmistakable shadow of the Pocket 3. Nothing quite like it.
The new Gimbal setting for mobile phone style shooting has been perfect for my vlogs. I’m never completely happy with the speed or natural movement of the Gimbal. It’s a brilliant camera and using at the moment in the Isle Of Wight for my new vlogs. Second time I’ve used for personal and always work projects. I use my iPhone for pics or times when I’m out with the family. However the Osmo 3 is amazing
It's very interesting. Some users are commenting that the structure is very fragile, and that a drop of 20cm will damage the camera forever. Is that true?
Nice. Got this right after it was launched for vlogging the kids, so far no issues and still impressed with its stability and video quality. Definitely my best gear investment. Only downside is not waterproof though.

I love my Pocket 3. I'm still keeping my GoPro12 for the rare times that I need a waterproof camera, but I think DJI is now the king. If I didn't have so many GoPro accessories, I'd probably switch over to the DJI Osmo 4.
*Thank You for doing this video Tamara 😃. I have had the OSMO Pocket 3 for just over 6 months, and I am really happy with the audio and video quality I'm achieving with this instrument. I am quite pleased with the amount of camera shooting time I'm getting with the extended battery handle which came with my OP3 (I have the Combo kit). I am pretty much unable to drain out the batteries if I am shooting live action @ 4K 24 on a day shoot, and can even obtain a full 5 hours of time lapse shooting per full charge of both the in camera and extension handle battery attached . 👍🏻 The improved in camera mic audio quality is noticeable over my OG OSMO Pocket, and the included Mic 2 audio is very good. I often shoot 4K 24p sit down interviews using both my OG OSMO Pocket and OSMO Pocket 3, and use the separate 32 bit float recorded with the Mic 2 as the main audio to synchronize both cameras with perfect success.👌*
I appreciate this, as I had the 2 and contemplating the 3 or a large full body frame. I had a Nikon through Asia and honestly hated it although my pictures were amazing. So thanks for this, I agree that I don’t want to lug another one! You’re awesome keep it up.
Looking good in the neighborhood, your video footage is well done. Got my Osmo 3 and getting ready for the wedding season uptick in September and October to use this as a great pickup camera along side of the main cameras ( Sony mirrorless). Keep the great observation videos popping 🍾. 👍🏾👍🏾
What a great video. Really informative and in depth review. I’ve not bought the Pocket 3 yet however I’ve watched loads of videos about it, and this is probably one of the best..and because of that I’ve now subscribed..thank you 👍
I've had one for about 4 months now and the biggest issue is definitely how fragile the camera actually feels. When it's off the gimbal doesn't have a 'lock' so the actual camera moves around a LOT. Dropping it into my backpack or pulling it out always results with the lens being rotated out and I'm ONE bad scratch away from misery. Definitely stay far, far away from sand or any bags that have crumbs or small particles.
Great video and great content covered. What are you all using for dumping footage onto when you’re traveling? I don’t want to travel with a laptop so I’d like a nice storage option on the go.
Thank you, Tamara, for sharing your experience. Very useful review for me and quality of your videos very pleasant for eyes 😍. Have you experience any overheating issues with this device?
Very informative and well presented video, nice to see an honest review about the camera, seems like a very nice option for people looking to shoot solo
Very informative video. Since you've had the device for sometime I was curious have you had any issue with the flip screen. I have been seeing quite a bit of videos and posts regarding the screen breaking. Keep killing it.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I had GoPro for a year and is dissatisfied with its quality. Just ordered Pocket3. Was also thinking if I should get Action 4 instead. Pocket 3 is the most expensive of all. Let's see how it goes. Anyways, love your reviews.
Only got it recently and I love it. Some little things I wish is that you could see what ISO and Shutter speed your at on the main screen, bit like the DJI Mini Drones where you can have it set to pro but still set the shutter and Iso to auto but keep an eye on it. The colour recovery option that's on the Mimo App to be on the main unit so the Log footage is nicer to look at while filming. Also Maybe an option to set what the joystick does when held down, as it's just for gimble lock mode atm.
Great review! I just purchased mine, because to your advantage point, it’s the small form factor! I almost exclusively record with my sony a7riii and when i hold that big rig in front of my face i get a LOT of looks😅
Nice overview. Thanks. It seems like a cool piece of kit to have in the bag, even for pros, for those non-critical grab-a- shot moments etc. I'll put it on my "definitely maybe" gear wishlist. Cheers. 🙂
Good info, thanks. I recently tried a Panasonic S5ii for a couple of weeks... Great camera but just too big to carry around. I think the Pocket 3 will be better for me, albeit without the weather sealing and restricted to a fixed lens.
Thanks for the video Tamara, I have spent all of this year so far looking at your reviews and many of the others trying to make my mind up, but now version 4 is in the pipeline I am going to hang fire and see what it brings. 🙂 Thanks again.
Another fantastic video! Just got mine this afternoon, can’t wait to put it to work! Do you find yourself using auto exposure or 180 rule more often? The idea of putting on and taking off an nd filter while vlogging in constantly changing lighting with two young boys sounds pretty exhausting despite it giving the more appealing motion blur.
Thanks! Honestly, most of the time I’m just using auto exposure with a few tweaks to my settings. Sometimes I’ll put on an ND filter and still shoot in auto so that I can get closer to the 180-degree shutter rule while still getting the look that auto gives, manual exposure doesn’t always fair well for dynamic range.
THANKS for the review! My only dislike of the Osmo is that it takes some time to start it, so it isn't great for capturing random shoots of something that is happening. I also had ND filter kit (freewell) and they were so flimpsy. I've lost a few from the kit due to it.
Honestly, I think the Osmo Pocket 3 is the Bee's Knees. It's as close to magic as I have found. A GREAT little versatile camera. I use it exclusively for all my live Pinball footage on my channel (Digital Victory) - you can clearly see the awesome quality on my videos. I previously used the Pocket 2, and the jump once I got the Pocket 3 was very noticeable. If I dropped by Picket 3 and broke it today, I'd order another immediately.
good review...now we just have to wait and see what happens with the new action in the next few weeks... a bigger sensor and a kind of face tracking like in the iphone plus the known stabilization could change a lot again
I love the convenience of this Camera. I wish dji would make a newer version of the original osmo (non pocket) which is bigger, but this time with a larger sensor, Micro 4/3 perhaps and a short range optical zoom. I dream of that. I don't mind a larger size.
Tamara, thank you for all these informative videos, can you point me in the direction of one that tests the auto exposure when dealing with variations in light conditions, like example walking through a forest area where there are dark areas of shade and then quick bright areas and back into the share, how does the exposure controls look and react?

What a great video. Really informative and in depth review. I’ve not bought the Pocket 3 yet however I’ve watched loads of videos about it, and this is probably one of the best..and because of that I’ve now subscribed..thank you 👍
Thanks for the support ☺️
Thanks! And no, I’ve not had any issues with my screen.
amazing review, first time I hear about the gimbal rotation limit. Definitely a lot of work in this review! well done!
Awesome video, definitely grabbing one
Thank you for sharing your experience. I had GoPro for a year and is dissatisfied with its quality. Just ordered Pocket3. Was also thinking if I should get Action 4 instead. Pocket 3 is the most expensive of all. Let's see how it goes. Anyways, love your reviews.
Currently saving up for one!!! Thank you for this video, I'm so excited to try it out one day!
Wonderful video. Love all the information and accompanying shots in this video.
Agree with the weather proofing point. I would also add the up and down motion when walking but not sure how they address that without an x Axis.
Your reviews give DJI products added value 👌
I'm a proud owner of Pocket 2 :) All the best from London
Thanks for the long term review, great to see the honesty.
Cheers. 🙂
Love your videos, love your style - super clear and helpful, and very well-made. Keep it up!
Thanks ☺️
Good info, thanks. I recently tried a Panasonic S5ii for a couple of weeks... Great camera but just too big to carry around. I think the Pocket 3 will be better for me, albeit without the weather sealing and restricted to a fixed lens.
Thanks for the video Tamara, I have spent all of this year so far looking at your reviews and many of the others trying to make my mind up, but now version 4 is in the pipeline I am going to hang fire and see what it brings. 🙂 Thanks again.
@@SMP248 when is it going to be released?
Hello, is the Pocket 4 rumored to be released soon or are you just anticipating something in the works?
@@TamaraGabrielUK Thanks for the reply and insight! I’m thinking that’s the approach I’ll be taking.
The public curiosity when filming lol
Always 😆 There’s never a time when I’m filming that I don’t get stopped at least once!
Great video! Very clear footage!
Great vid thanks !!! How do you films the shots from “looking from your eyes”perspective ?
What part of the video?
THANKS for the review! My only dislike of the Osmo is that it takes some time to start it, so it isn't great for capturing random shoots of something that is happening. I also had ND filter kit (freewell) and they were so flimpsy. I've lost a few from the kit due to it.
Have you had a look at the Action 4? It has a pre-record feature which could be useful for you.
I'm sold, great edits. Thanks for sharing your opinon
Nice video, thanks! Do you use this camera on professional, corporate type shoots?
I wouldn’t for the main video, but would for BTS.
@TamaraGabrielUK Good for Broll?
I guess it depends on the b-roll and the situation. But generally yes.
Loved this review.
Thank you ☺️
Always enjoy and learn from your videos. One comment though: to get rapid charging, you really do need a 20 or 30 watt charger.
Thanks. Yeah, I use a 30W charger.
@@TamaraGabrielUK Also works with the battery pack of the Action 4. Unfortunately not for the Mic 2.
I randomly clicked on this video. Good review. I’m still trying to find my footing in documenting my life.
🙌🏾
Thanks for the in-depth video....very helpful!
good review...now we just have to wait and see what happens with the new action in the next few weeks...
a bigger sensor and a kind of face tracking like in the iphone plus the known stabilization could change a lot again
I love the convenience of this Camera. I wish dji would make a newer version of the original osmo (non pocket) which is bigger, but this time with a larger sensor, Micro 4/3 perhaps and a short range optical zoom. I dream of that. I don't mind a larger size.
Awesome review!
Thanks!
Tamara, thank you for all these informative videos, can you point me in the direction of one that tests the auto exposure when dealing with variations in light conditions, like example walking through a forest area where there are dark areas of shade and then quick bright areas and back into the share, how does the exposure controls look and react?
