The "creative combo" was 100% worth it! This thing has _almost_ become my favorite piece of gear. It does great in low light and I've been super happy with the battery life, too. The face tracking (or tracking anything, really) is snappy and awesome. The mic is amazing, whether you're talking or singing, and I've been super happy with how quickly it connects. Side note: the mic sync notice _does_ go away if you wait it out. Every time someone new sees my footage from this camera, they want to know what it was shot on.
Honestly glad to hear the SOOC color profile is solid, mine arrives tomorrow and I’ll definitely give the standard a LOOK 👏🏻 I love the option to edit if needed, but a run around vibe? Love
I should make a long-term review too. Had it since day 1, bought my wife one as well. We use it all the time. Two things I'd love to see: 1) A way to lock the camera, so disable the gimbal 2) Add splash resistance, at least for something like moderate rain Can't wait for version 4!
Yeah those amendments would definitely level up this camera! Definitely some extra niggles there but overall pretty impressive for the size and expense of it
@@gbocsardi Thank you! I just looked into this as I missed this new gimbal mode indeed. It's not quiteeee what I'd like, but it gets a lot closer. Thank you!
I've had mine for a few weeks! Its design and great specs have been really inspiring me to get creative and productive with making fun content❤ Its so cool to use. I didnt get the creator combo, I got the silicone tripod from amazon and screen and lens protector too. I always use the protective shell and carrying case I also got from amazon when its in my bag or not in use. I dnt think the combo is necessary. Great buy all around!
I've totally loved my Osmo for many of the reasons you mention. Shooting B-roll, POV stuck to my backpack and pocket-ability. Low-light performance for me was a massive selling point and it hasn't let me down. I know that there's a TON more ways that I can use this little guy, but haven't needed to yet - but I know it'll deliver when I decide to give an idea a shot.
I have perched all 3 of the OSMO Poc ket cameras and the Pocket 3 is by far the best. The only thing I miss on the Pocket 3 is the ability to run a cable down to a smartphone and have an instant monitor. With the Pocket 3, you need to set up the monitor every time you turn it off and on again. Other than that, it's a great travel camera. My wife and I are heading off to Japan in October. The Pocket 3 is great for travel.
Just get an aftermarket gopro to screw mount it allows you to screw into any camera and use the gopro mounts then that clip will work. Is it strong enough not sure but it would work
Thank you Jay, a very well put together 'chill vibes' review. I hope to pick up my Pocket 3 soon but watching lots of reviews in the meantime and I still walk away feeling as impressed the more I see the camera.
New subscriber from Nairobi. Great review. They need to have a removable battery in the next upgrade and perhaps an adjustable flip screen. Otherwise excited at the prospect of getting one. Meanwhile hope you meet your 10K target. Amazing content here😅
Totally feel you on the discreetness and pocket-ability being game changers, it's been huge for me too. I don't travel, but I can totally see how having a lightweight option like this with built in color would be deeply impactful to the process.
That what makes the Mic2 even better is that u can use it with ur Android or Ios Device also without a Receiver ......(s24, Pixle 8,9 others uve to check ). Grt Video. Greetings !
Great review and video! Your footage looks fantastic out of the camera, what sharpness and noise reduction settings do you use? Very tempted to get one for my RUclips channel and upcoming projects. Cheers!🙌
Ive just ordered this because i herd how good this video cam is. When you say you dont colour grade do you litrally put it on your phone then straight to social media ?
I came here to learn about the Pocket 3; this was a great review!... BUT, I was really impressed by how good your audio sounds in this video! Would you mind sharing how you achieve such a great result with a newbie like myself?
I do and I never leave home without it just in case of a low light recording opportunity. I also have the Action 4 and if not for the low light and gimbal of the OP3, I would always reach for my action 4.
11:43 just get the Osmo Pocket 3 expansion adapter (very cheap in price) from DJI and you can reuse your clamp. I use this with my chestmount and it works great. (Someone mentioned this already, I hope you bought it already and enjoy it)
Hi Jay! Just came across your video when I was looking to getting a pocket 3! Thanks for this info! 😊I was wondering your thoughts on using it as an indoor camera for some talking head footage as well and if the lighting affects the quality a lot. I wasn't sure if you had any vlogs with indoor filming using the pocket 3? Thank you!
Firstly thank you. Yes I have plenty. Check out any of my last 6 months of footage while travelling. I’m inside hotel rooms etc and you’ll se how it performs. Thanks for watching. Appreciate it
Loved this review! And I love that you vlog and have the pros and cons from a vloggers perspective. Your audio in this video is superb! Please share the audio equipment that you’re using for this video.
I have a GRiii and XS20 with multiple lenses. Im thinking of selling the XS20 with all my lenses and replace it with the Pocket 3 to have a small system.
Great camera!!! Also survived doing 60mph on the front of my car 😂 Also gonna put it to the test as a b-cam in a couple of weeks for a wedding….i have no other choice 😂
I just bought one along with the strap clip you’re wanting You’ll need the DJI Expansion Adapter for Osmo Pocket 3 to give you the GoPro style connection. Then I bought the TELESIN Upgraded Universal Backpack Clip for GoPro!
Still using my osmo pocket 1. I've been waiting for the OSMO pocket 4 before i upgrade. It's gonna be a gamechanger! The pocket 3 isn't compatible with the extension rod controller sadly.
I bought one for stills. I’ve given up with the raw files. Can’t get them looking as good as the jpegs. But you can edit the shit out of them in Snapseed. They hold up well. The results can be stunning when viewed on my 65 inch 4K to.
I would love to pick this up, however my RUclips videos are mainly hiking and camping scenarios. I would also be extremely anxious taking this while going up and down mountains and like the other person talked about breaking it. I think Insta360’s X and AcePro will work better for my more rugged videos.
The DJI OP3 seems like the best travel camera out there, and is on my short list. However, no one seems to talk too much about it in the rain. I travel pretty much constantly, and cannot be the only one who constantly runs into rain. I have over 100k miles traveled this year so far, and need a light, discreet camera, but it has to be able to withstand rain. Can anybody shed some light as to if the Pocket 3 is at least rainproof? I am not looking for an action cam, but would need it to be able to withstand rain. I am not the type of traveler to only visit tourist destinations at the perfect times of year. I travel for work, and in between, travel with my family, so I am traveling most of the year. If the answer is no rain for the Pocket 3, any recommendations for similar footage quality? Thank you!
If we keep flipping the screen on daily basis will it break? There are lots of complaints with screen getting stuck. Can we record horizontal without flipping screen?
Yes you can sir. I installed new update yesterday and I can set horizontal mode and it works flipped vertical. I can turn on and off and it films horizontally when screen is vertical. You see smaller view as in pocket 2
Hey bro, saw your vids about osmo pocket 3 they are really good, but I've a question. I create fitness type vlogs, talking head vids, reaction vids and I've budget of around $1000, and I'm kinda confused between zve10 ii and osmo pocket 3, please guide me and lemme know which one is better for quality content. I'd be really helpful.
I can’t say for the ZVE10 ii but I’d say this is perfect as it comes in well under $1000 and you get the mic, perfect for vlogging. And like I said face tracking too 👍
Hi! I'm interested in getting a Pocket 3, but I've seen some users mention issues with the rotating screen. How has your experience been with it so far?
If you rotate the screen and let it "snap" into place, you'll probably run into issues. However, if you just gently rotate it into place, I think you'll be fine. I'm about 6 months in with the Pocket 3 creator combo and really happy with it.
I watched a dozen videos comparing the DJI and the Insta360 X3 and I decided for the X3. It was a really good decision cause I already got a wonderful Sony Camera which this DJI cant replace with quality etc. But at least I would give it a try if I dont wanted to Invest in a iPhone 15 Pro or a DSLR Camera. Then it would be my choice.
LOL, DEADMAU5 or dead cat? Am I missing the electro house feature of the DJI Mic 2? Great video though. Thanks for the quality content and accidental laughs.
I cannot make zoom work ---- where the 2 arrows are in the right hand side there are no numbers top press to activate zoom. probably won`t use zoom very much because I will use software to zoom most of the time.
Great video, Jay! Subbed because of this video alone. I bought the Pocket 3 in Japan when I visited in February of this year and bought it using tax-free shopping and I saved a ton of money because of this.
I think it is over hyped. I sold mine a day replaced it with the insta360 x4. It's a nice camera, but its still just a normal camera. It's exposure issues makes it hard to vlog with, especially if you live in regions that are usually overcast ☁️
Not overhyped at all mate! You can’t debate that for the price, nothing comes as close in ergonomics, simplicity, and quality. With $600 you can slap this on the back of your car and turn around and charge people $100-$200 for amazing rollers. I can’t speak too much about vlogging but I can tell you a typical rig to mount a dslr to your car for rollers is MILES more expensive.
Thanks Jay, this is one of the few videos I’ve seen that says it’s good for travel; most just talk about vlogging, which I’m not in to. I am thinking of buying one but would like to attach it to my Canon mirrorless camera so that I can record video footage whilst taking stills with the cameras zoom lens for safari and rain forest trips I’ve got coming up. Have you or any of your fellow Pocket 3 readers tried it for this sort of scenario and does it work? Many thanks.

Since the last firmware there is an option to “lock” the gimbal, so it always stays perpendicular to the screen, making it easier to point quick!
