So, I'm a pro DP shooting mostly on Red but I'll take this over rigging the red on a ronin everytime. We use gimbal shots sparingly anyway so re-rigging for red on gimbal is a huge time suck and just not worth it when you can get good enough with this little osmo. The only downside is you gotta get someone to distract the client when you pull this out because they think it's a toy.

Been using my Osmo pocket 3 since February and I don't think there's another camera in it's price range that can even come close the quality that it produces. Great video as always Victor!
Random question.. Do you know if it has any attachable items like the gopro? I want a camera I can set up on my wind shield like a dash cam. Not to use as an actual dashcam but for recording short 5 min clips of driving. Gopro has a suction cup thing I can attach it to to put on my windshield
@@goodjawn610 Yeah there's a bunch of different attachments for it. I actually just picked up a suction cup mount from Ulanzi off of amazon for like 40 bucks to use with my Osmo Pocket 3
You can do 4k filming in portrait but you have to hold the DOP3 perpendicular to the ground at 90 degrees so it will keep the head as it was in landscape but the video will be portrait and thus be 4k since the orientation of the screen is landscape. Works amazingly.
I just came back from my trip to NYC and Croatia with my friends and I can't believe the quality this little thing produced! It was so great to have it always available and the battery attachment made it easily last all day. Can't recommend enough.
First time seeing one of your vids. Super impressive work. I really appreciate you breaking everything down so thoroughly. I've been considering this purchase, and I think you've helped me make my mind. Looking forward to seeing more of your content.
GREAT VIDEO - I have a question! Some of your B-ROLL shows chromatic aberrations on the edges ie: at 01:46 and 3:50 (nightime shots) did you add this effect on prpose of is it something the camera does? If you did it on purpose - please tell us what effect that is in the LUT pack - LOVE THE LOOK! Again love the video !!
lovely video, your shots are great! I was set on the DJI action 5 pro but this video has me contemplating otherwise. The only difference to me ability for underwater shooting/overall higher durability? What do you think?
It’s a tough one. I saw the dji action 5 pro and it seems better without the nuance of a gimbal. If you really need underwater shots and similar I think the action 5 would be a good fit! It’s rugged and durable with almost all the features with this (even more features I think)
I completely agree with you on the VND filters. I have trouble seeing things up close and that little tick mark was impossible for me to see. I bought the Pocket 3 for a “simple, easy to use” camera. The VND takes that away. I did buy the DJI ND filters, but most of the time I just put the Pocket 3 in auto and just film. I still love my Sony a7cii, but the Pocket 3 definitely comes in handy at times.
Hello thanks for sharing the video, I am an amateur who likes beautiful images. I have the a7c2 and I hesitate to complete my kit with the zve1 for a camera but after seeing your video, I tell myself that they are very close and I think I will go for the osmo pocket 3. What do you think?
Hi, I have a question about the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 camera. Why does the file size of a video change during transfers? For example, a video file may show as 500 MB in the Mimo app, increase to 510 MB after being downloaded to a phone, and then decrease to 180 MB when transferred to a computer. Similarly, why does a file that starts at 500 MB decrease to only 100 MB when AirDropped from the Mimo app or a mobile device to a system? What causes these size changes?
Thank you for the comprehensive overview. Also nice to have the comparisons between Dlog-M and HLG colour modes. I got this for performance recording and the AI tracking is a great feature with the gimble. Lots to learn though coming form still photography to video.
Hey Vic, I've watched over 50 review videos, and yours is one of the best. I keep diving into OP3 videos because I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I really want one, but there's a deal-breaker for me: the fixed aperture and limited options for variable ND filters. I'm currently shooting a lot of long-take cinematic walking videos (1/50th shutter is a must), and it's super frustrating not having solid VND options or variable aperture control to soak up the variability in lighting changes. I saw you ended up using DJI's fixed NDs, but wouldn't it be awesome if there was a top-notch VND that could close flush when the gimbal is turned off? I can't be the only one craving this - surely there's enough of a product market fit here but third-parties just don't seem to be biting. Anyway, great video, as usual!
I think that would be the perfect product for this tbh. VND that slim enough. They could also adapt something like electronic internal NDs that could make the camera module bigger but I don’t mind that and it’s wishful thinking haha! I think we’ve reached the mid to late cycle of this product that most people are satisfied with it and the solutions so maybe we’re looking at the next new thing next year perhaps? I do see the pain points of some specific use cases and no ones gotten the solution for it yet!
what happen if you exposed the HLG lower? let say -1 or -1.2 to get the "same exposure" as d-log m? How much push and pull threshold would you get then ?
About to check out your latest DJI Osmo Pocket 3 video - keep posting these videos they are really helpful! Also, do you recommend the Adobe suite to make video edits? Is there anything close / better for an amateur?
K&F I recently purchased the 1-5 and 5-9 and they have hard stops and minimal vignetting - you must have purchased an early release or a damaged version
Great Video Victor was waiting for this one! Do you think the Osmo Pocket 3 would be a great fit for Weddings to capture wide angle Shots on a Tripod ?
you can for smaller budget gigs! I think it's a great enough option but for me if I'm bringing something for paid gigs, I'd rather have the best tools available!
Great video! Wondering how this compares to the insta 360x4. I think the quality of this looks better but insta seems more fun. Theyre probably not meant for the same purpose.
I hate 360 cams so the osmo wins for me hahahah but personal preference aside, I think x4 is decent and fun but the image quality might not be the same. Up to you which one you’d prefer (fun 360 or camera with a gimbal)
@@VictorLaforteza you are welcome ;) did you create it on your own? Maybe video about your workflow and tools you are using? I just found your channel so hopefully I didn’t miss it ;)
Should be good! But it’s a little different from like an action cam stabilization because those ones crop the image and have the camera process the stabilization
I use one for constant recording while out in duo with my Nikon Z8 i use for very high quality footage or more distant one. Everything is covered this way. Lightweight very high quality setup that work in seconds over the pain in the ass the others sytems can be wich i used before while traveling. Put a tilta/movemax on the pocket 3 like i did for mine and you have something that can do everything almost everywhere. Mine worked superb in the french alps.
I would recommend iPhone 16 pro , as it offers a real log profile, compared to the pocket 3's d log m, which is NOT a real log profile, and just rec 709 made to look logarithmic. and the iPhone also shoots pro res, which the pocket 3 (I believe) is limited to h264
Hi, how do you achieve that "matte/soft look" without the digital sharpness? Is that a particular filter or editing feature? Was kind of wondering what settings in Davinci would give me that look in general
Not thing I struggle with is 60fps in the UK has super bad flickering, even with anti flicker on. I shoot 4k 50fps but I’m struggling to get it as smooth as 60! Any suggestions? 😄
Once they start using 8k resolution and upgrade algorithms that can use the extra resolution to create stabilized 4k footage I think gimbals will almost be unnecessary except for certain extreme situations. And if they can improve shallow depth of field on these smaller sensors (and phones)....then we'll be talking about a really cool un-cumbersome tool.
That would be amazing. They're already doing that with some devices now to some extent (6k / 4k to 1080p stabilized footage or smart framing cropping)... I'm excited where tech goes!!
One of the best things about having the gimbal is that you can stick the Osmo on top of a 3mtr pole and use your phone/iPad to angle the shot as you're walking. Basically a drone on a stick. This is great for internal events and buildings. You wouldn't be able to shoot like this with a non gimbal based camera without turning the pole. I have Blackmagics, Lumix 5S2 and Canon C300s. But this little camera is my favourite to work with.
Yr video popped up when i first open youtube today and man, im glad i watched it till the enddd! I thought you’re malaysian bcz of the intro hahah. Love this video man! I have dji op3 too. Slowly learning about dlogm/hlg, how to colour grade etc. Thanks for the info you shared in this vlog. It’s informative 🙌🏻
Ahahah I love Malaysia!! well still have to travel around since we only spent a few days in KL but would definitely go back to travel to different places. OP3 is amazing! keep learning and keep filming !!
What’s the soundtrack in your intro? It sounds epic. I am a newbie who recently got an Osmo 3 and still learning the fundamentals of videography. This video was rather helpful.
Do you mind if i ask, perhaps can share some tips with me, since i am also using DJI Osmo Pocket 3 to film some footages, especially those footages with sunlight. However, what i noticed is the difference in colour, this video for example, the colours are so nicely captured (or is this the result from video editing) or captured from the DJI pocket 3 camera, and all i need to do is follow your settings exactly? Hope an amateur like myself can get some tips from you. Thanks.
Saw this cinematic footage and was mesmerized. I'm an owner of an A6700 and was thinking of getting the OP3 for it's convinience. I was wondering if you think the OP3 is capable enough for travel cinematic footage instead of bringing the A6700 + 3 lenses + Gimbal.
I had goosebumbs watching it and thinking of the product it was shot on... i really churned out the absolute best out of this camera Victor! And increased my fomo and hype for it 10x
For what it is it has good dynamic range, good low light, and good stabilization. Most of all I find the form factor and convenience the best part of the camera. I honestly use my Osmo Pocket 3 more than my FX3 because of how convenient it is
Thanks for this amazing video. I have DJI MIC 2 set up along with Osmo Action 4 adventure combo. I create travel vlogs for my RUclips. Do you recommend Pocket 3 standard combo or should I go for the creator combo?
@@VictorLaforteza did you happen to use the wide angle lens to compensate for the loss of fov? and is there grid lines as an option in the menu? sorry for the questions. im so close to buying one haha
Thank you. Could you please do a short video on how you grade your D-Log M footage? I would love to see that. I have your LUTs and would love to see the correct use documented.
This thing is the Bee's Knees!! I use it exclusively for all the content on my channel (Digital Victory) and if it broke, I'd buy another tomorrow. I used the Pocket 2 before I had this, and the difference is very noticeable. It's fantastic!
i recently tested the pocket 3 also by doing a full night-time hyperlapse video shoot in hanoi. turned out pretty well, suprising what this little camera can produce. most importantly, it's lightweight and easy to use, responsive - useful for tours when you just have to keep moving along and capture whatever is interesting along the way. looking forward to pocket 4 (with internal ND settings!) hahaha
Would love to see that!!! Yeah I’d say this is easily the most convenient and accessible camera for everyone. I don’t mind the pocket 4 being a bit bigger with those substantial upgrades 💪🏽💪🏽
I love mine. Only things I would change: the ability to lock focus and/or MF and the ability to lock exposure (you only can if you use it along with a phone/the app).
@@davekozak That can definitely help in certain situations. I just find the AF is hunting a lot which causes focus breathing. I find this camera to be a great alternative too expensive iPhones, however, the iPhone added the final camera app which does allow manual focus (even though the big phones are like three times as much as this!).
Nice videoooo! You can descrease the sharpness of the image incamera?, I just saw that yes! | Do you know other pocket camera that has the same capabilities? kinda like sony zv-1?
I'm not hating this great video, but there seems to be a slight motion distortion or flutter on all of the YT footage I have seen on this camera. I mean, the stabilization looks incredible, but I'm not fully sold on the video quality when compared to a Lumix mirrorless or Gopro.
@@VictorLaforteza Is there a walkaround? I'm on the fence and cannot hit the buy button yet. . I mean the footage is pretty impressive but I have also seen people comparing it with a mobile phone and gimple, I guess the top-of-the-range phones, But the phone and gimple is not as practical. I am thinking of getting one but not completely sold yet.
nice video man! I'm interested in the LUTS from this video, should i wait until 10/7? I went to your website, but i don't think they're the right LUTS.
Really nice shots ! Can I ask how do you color grade the HLG ? These were the best HLG scenes I've seen on whole youtube :D I work with davinci resolve and tried everything so far and HLG always comes out odd. Tried with color managed settings and project, standard rec.709 project, color space transform, luts, nothing worked well enough.. ;(
I basically just manually adjusted the contrast to match the 709 space and then proceeded to colour correct and then grade the footage! I'm gonna have a video on how I grade both dlog and HLG to show this better!
@@VictorLaforteza Maybe have a look at this guys work grading HLG ruclips.net/video/kX-0Ynfh7C4/видео.html For basic settings in Davinci Resolve. I'm learning the process atm but also waiting on my ND filters to rock up for outdoor work.
You could make it work but if I’m rolling with the client on shoot day, I wouldn’t. They care about seeing “pro” gear for some reason at least from my experience.
I was impressed that your footage shot while you were walking was so stable, without the hopping up and down motions I have seen in other videos. Are you ninja walking while filming? Is this due to gimbal mode being set to Tilt/Locked? Did you stabilize in post? Maybe all of the above?
It's mostly ninja walk and then I have it on tilt locked. I do stabilize in post when it works but often davinci resolve makes the footage wobble. What helps a lot too is I put my arm on top of my sling as a stabilizer for that up and down motion and do the ninja walk. I look ridiculous in public but it's worth getting the shot haha!
Can't help but notice that some of the clips in this video was shot in Kuala Lumpur, my hometown. Hope you enjoyed your time there and great video as always!!!
Amazing video! Quick question, most if bloggers say thats its super fragile and if you are a traveller vlogger then may not be the best choice, instead go for action camera. So is it really very very fragile and unreliable?
It's better than most people say actually! It got soaked when I took the boat to see Niagara falls on the water. Dropped it from my desk a few times as well with the camera hitting the ground first and it's still okay! Maybe I got lucky but yeah definitely be careful with it if you can.
At low light using D Log M, is the exposure for -0.3 still recommended? I have an osmo but I feel like I'm not using it to its full potential, so thanks for the insights and inspo!
Yeah, I think -0.3 is still pretty good balance between highlights and shadows for low light! If there’s not enough ambient light, it’ll probably be worse but the camera does a good job on how much light it needs once you set up the EV
I think if you tilt the handle 90 deg it goes into portrait mode 4k. I might have used it once on mine but I don't normally record portrait. Try it. One gripe I have is the DJI mimo doesn't work with my android. Anyways, great video. I think I should try more creative things than just pressing record 😂
Yeah I saw a video saying you can hack it into 4k mode by doing that!! I'm gonna try it haha. Thanks for watching and yeah go out and film!!!! it's super fun with the osmo

Indeed. Have one and loving it. Works great as a webcam as well.
I’m excited to use it as a webcam! Are you able to use active tracking while streaming?
@@VictorLaforteza Active tracking works great. 👍🏻👍🏻
Hey watching from Malaysia here! Happy you visited!
Would loooooove to go back! It's amazing there
Is this natural low light noise? 11:36 or is it added film grain because it looks so natural..
All from the camera!
Thanks for this amazing video. I have DJI MIC 2 set up along with Osmo Action 4 adventure combo. I create travel vlogs for my RUclips. Do you recommend Pocket 3 standard combo or should I go for the creator combo?
standard is good the DJI mic 2 should hook up to the osmo pocket 3 if im not mistaken
I use the Freewell mist VNDs. The only cons for me are they're really thin and easy to drop, and they do X pattern at the end of the 6-9 stop.
yeah gotta one of those solid NDs to make it x pattern free!
hi i wanted to get your sunset film pack but I have 0 knowledge about how to use it. do you have a tutorial vid for it?
Yes there’s a tutorial and pdf inside 🙏🏽
quality looks great, can i get anything like it using the osmo action pro 5?
No doubt! I haven't had any experience with the action pro 5 but seems like from the videos it's just as good just built differently
Amazing man, please do a video about color grading 🙏
Will come soon as well!
What’s your main camera?
do you need to change ev if you have nd filter?
Hey love your content, would love to know your colour grading process with DJI pocket 3 with d-log m or even HLG!! 💪🏽
Thanks! It's coming soon :D
question. you had a video with 21:9 aspect ratio. you had to crop some of the video for that in editing i assume?
that's correct!
@@VictorLaforteza did you happen to use the wide angle lens to compensate for the loss of fov? and is there grid lines as an option in the menu? sorry for the questions. im so close to buying one haha
whats the music around 50 seconds? please..
Can't remember exactly but I got it from Musicbed!
Do the the tracking just work on ppl or can it also track objects too.
objects too!
How does it compare to using the latest iphone camera
Thank you. Could you please do a short video on how you grade your D-Log M footage? I would love to see that. I have your LUTs and would love to see the correct use documented.
It’s coming! I’m currently in the process of editing that grading video. Thanks for snagging the LUT pack 🫡🫡
This thing is the Bee's Knees!!
I use it exclusively for all the content on my channel (Digital Victory) and if it broke, I'd buy another tomorrow.
I used the Pocket 2 before I had this, and the difference is very noticeable. It's fantastic!
Yeah, this is a one of a kind camera for the price. I'm now a believer hahaha
i recently tested the pocket 3 also by doing a full night-time hyperlapse video shoot in hanoi. turned out pretty well, suprising what this little camera can produce. most importantly, it's lightweight and easy to use, responsive - useful for tours when you just have to keep moving along and capture whatever is interesting along the way. looking forward to pocket 4 (with internal ND settings!) hahaha
Not sure if it’s what you’re looking for, but there’s a “Single” focus setting instead of the default Continuous
@@davekozak That can definitely help in certain situations. I just find the AF is hunting a lot which causes focus breathing. I find this camera to be a great alternative too expensive iPhones, however, the iPhone added the final camera app which does allow manual focus (even though the big phones are like three times as much as this!).
This is art. Really, well done.
Thanks so much
Nice videoooo! You can descrease the sharpness of the image incamera?, I just saw that yes! | Do you know other pocket camera that has the same capabilities? kinda like sony zv-1?
at this price point, nah this will be the only one unless you look into the DJI action 5. That looks capable as well!
I'm not hating this great video, but there seems to be a slight motion distortion or flutter on all of the YT footage I have seen on this camera. I mean, the stabilization looks incredible, but I'm not fully sold on the video quality when compared to a Lumix mirrorless or Gopro.
I know what you mean! It's the Z-Axis not stabilizing well in post.
Is the video quality better than iPhone 14 Pro?
Probably similar
I love this camera. Have had one since they released it.
nice video man! I'm interested in the LUTS from this video, should i wait until 10/7? I went to your website, but i don't think they're the right LUTS.
Thanks dude! The sunset film lut pack is applicable to all cameras but you can wait til 10/7 to see how I use them with the osmo pocket!
I reccomend the neewer ND filter kit on amazon. It has done wonders for me so far
影片非常好看 質感超好 敘述方式清楚明瞭

Really nice shots !
Can I ask how do you color grade the HLG ?
These were the best HLG scenes I've seen on whole youtube :D
I work with davinci resolve and tried everything so far and HLG always comes out odd.
@@VictorLaforteza Maybe have a look at this guys work grading HLG
ruclips.net/video/kX-0Ynfh7C4/видео.html
For basic settings in Davinci Resolve. I'm learning the process atm but also waiting on my ND filters to rock up for outdoor work.
@@pierrebroccoli.9396 looks great!! I'll try this out!!
If you had a fx3 rigged for handheld and A7iv on a gimbal, could you replace the A7iv with the osmo 3 ?
You could make it work but if I’m rolling with the client on shoot day, I wouldn’t. They care about seeing “pro” gear for some reason at least from my experience.
and i put it in the case with the magnetic case on it and extended battery clip that came with the creator combo
@@VictorLaforteza cool - thanks man!

Could be the most informative review of this product!
Thank youuuu hope you enjoyed and learned something from this one!!
Do you like the DJI VND filter? Was hoping you would explain your experience with that via the K&F!
Basically the filters Ive been looking for!! no colour casts and great range
How did you apply your lut on your osmo footage?:o
on davinci resolve! :)
Can't help but notice that some of the clips in this video was shot in Kuala Lumpur, my hometown. Hope you enjoyed your time there and great video as always!!!
Yessss KL is amazing! can't wait to be back :) Hope you enjoyed this review!
That would be correct.
@@VictorLaforteza Makes sense what you said. A mirrorless camera can also be fragile so we have to be cautious
@@motorcycle-man Correct you mean to say thats its super fragile or not so fragile?
At low light using D Log M, is the exposure for -0.3 still recommended? I have an osmo but I feel like I'm not using it to its full potential, so thanks for the insights and inspo!
Yeah, I think -0.3 is still pretty good balance between highlights and shadows for low light! If there’s not enough ambient light, it’ll probably be worse but the camera does a good job on how much light it needs once you set up the EV
What is the specs for your computer that you use for video editing ?
MacBook Pro M1 Pro 16gb ram !
@@VictorLaforteza thanks. Looks like I need to upgrade
Also a filmmaker in Taiwan, and I'm really inspired by your video!
很酷!很高興找到一個台灣的攝影師!happy you’re inspired by the video 🙏🏽🙏🏽
thank you for the subtitles
Love your footage. Bravo
do you have a recommendation for beginner cinematic lighting?
Godox and nanlite have some great budget options! I wouldn’t pick cheaper brands cuz they break easily so you’d have to buy twice
@@VictorLaforteza bet appreciate the advice
I think if you tilt the handle 90 deg it goes into portrait mode 4k. I might have used it once on mine but I don't normally record portrait. Try it. One gripe I have is the DJI mimo doesn't work with my android. Anyways, great video. I think I should try more creative things than just pressing record 😂
Yeah I saw a video saying you can hack it into 4k mode by doing that!! I'm gonna try it haha. Thanks for watching and yeah go out and film!!!! it's super fun with the osmo
I seriously loved your video ❤
what's your app for editing?
