Very informative long-term review. I'm considering this device, but I'm not quite sure if it's the right one to do what I'd like it to do: set it up on a selfie stick/tripod and have it record me on stage speaking (moving around) or walking around among people seated in a conference room, speaking. Basically, I'm looking for something that can be my cameraman without actually having a cameraman on hand. If I am lucky enough to have someone willing to hold it and follow me, I think it would do a great job. But do you think it would work by itself in this scenario?

Does that mean there's tons of overhead system files taking up space on the 64GB card?

Hi Joe. I've consumed all of your videos on the OSMO Pocket 3 and ZV e10. I'm new to the vlogging/camera world, so ease of use is important. I'm primarily shooting for facebook and youtube ad videos. I suspect 70% of my videos will be stationary while the rest will be walking videos around a construction site. I notice you use the DJI a lot for action shots. It seems like a much more "plug and play" set up for a newbie, but would you still recommend it for a stationary video? I feel like the ZV e10 is more geared for stationary shooting, but I'm fearful of the learning curve regarding settings, lens, etc. Open to feedback from you and everyone in the comments!
I’d say go with the Osmo Pocket 3. The ZV-e10 is not made for walking. Your footage will be so shaky unless you get a gimbal. Not to mention the lens. So I’d say go with the OP3. That would be the safest bet imo.
Thank you for such an interesting and informative review. You mention you have used the OSMO 3 for overhead studio camera work. Would you go so far and recommend this as the primary studio camera? Like in comparison to Sony ZV 1 level camera
Yes, I have used it for just that and the the Osmo Pocket 3 performs great. The best part is using your phone as a monitor with the Mimo app so you can see everything and change exposure.
@@thefilmalliance this was very useful. I don't yet own the Pocket 3, but have the Osmo Action 4. While I enjoy the review and comparison videos, especially in the format you have here, I also enjoy seeing the content created with these device like, vlogs, short films etc. Good luck on the channel
Im not really in love ;p during day the quality is same as in action 4, but action is way more better to vlog (walk&talk). Pocket 3 is good for cinematic shoots and some b-rools... but probably I will sell OP3 and buy sony rx100 vii for zoom catibilities (or maybe I'll wait for sony zv-1 m3).
Given the price of the Osmo Pocket 2 compared to the Osmo Pocket 3, is it still worth picking up a OP2 at this point? I currently have an iPhone 13 Mini and wanted to purchase a OP3 for an upcoming trip but currently they are unavailable/sold out. Would a OP2 be a decent option? I also have a GoPro12 my partner will be utilizing for the trip. Thanks! Edit: I have also taken your quiz which recommends the GoPro12, just wondering about purchasing an additional camera.
I have both , no way you are comparing OP2 with 3 . the ease of external mic , connect to your phone as view screen , bigger display, much better low light , etc cheers from Indonesia
I bought the first course. Felt there was some good information in it. Thought it would include everything when I bought it. Was quite disapointed to find out that you didn't include any infomation on using the OP with ND filters, so I wrote this to you. Then a new course comes out, now we have to buy an exstra course. Feel like it would have been better to wait and then include everything in one course, so you actually know what you get as a customer. I use the OP primarily with ND filters, so that part would have been more usable for me. The information is good, just dont like to pay for more, when I already thought that this was what I paid for in the first place.
I was on the fence about the osmo pocket 3 bc It was new to the market and wanted to hear feedback after it had been out for a while. This is just what I was looking for! Thank you!!
@@thefilmalliance yes, that’s what I’m thinking. I can throw it in my purse and take professional quality videos at the drop of a hat. I’m really excited about this!
My only hesitation… no optical zoom. I have the osmo 6 with my iPhone 15 pro max, and pretty hard to beat that. Size is really the only place it looses the comparison.
New Fontainebleau Hotel opened at end of 2023. This escalator goes up like 8 stories tall. But it's slanted, so more like 12 stories vertical. Man is a beast.
Great video man! I’ve had the OP3 since launch. I sold my LUMIX S5II after I got it. It replaced a much more expensive camera for me and I use it way more often because it is so convenient to carry everywhere. I record in HLG and edit and upload to RUclips in HDR. Awesome quality. 👍🏻
Well if we go by history, OP2 was released in November 2020. OP3 was released Oct-Nov 2023. I wouldn't expect an OP4 this year or next, but who knows.... they could release an OP3 Pro version as a stopgap, considering the insane popularity!
You obviously don’t know about da Vinci resolve… You should always always shoot in D-log and then if you know what you’re doing in da Vinci you could make the colors and contrast look anyway that you want.
Ist a Great Little Camera and I still using it, but it overheats in direct sunlight (Like the iPhone, After 10 min. 25 Degrees Celsius in Greece). Under this conditition only my GH5 keep working. 😊

@@thefilmalliance I requested a notification prompt. B&H is good about those. So, as soon as I get it, I'm jumping on it. I'm waiting until I have it so I can take a week vacation from work and shoot my short film with it. Another thing I saw from another OP3 user, is if you hold the OP3 like a flashlight, attached to a selfie stick, point the camera forward. So as you walk, this arrangement helps reduce the up and down bobbing of the capture.

That would be the safest bet imo.
a quality video! thanks for putting so much effort in every video that u upload
My pleasure thank you. Did you buy the Osmo Pocket 3?
Thank you for such an interesting and informative review. You mention you have used the OSMO 3 for overhead studio camera work. Would you go so far and recommend this as the primary studio camera? Like in comparison to Sony ZV 1 level camera
Yes, I have used it for just that and the the Osmo Pocket 3 performs great. The best part is using your phone as a monitor with the Mimo app so you can see everything and change exposure.
@@thefilmalliance Many thanks, appreciate your feedback. Have a great day :)
This is such an informative and well laid out long term review. Kudos.
Thanks Are there any specific videos that you would like to see anytime soon?
@@thefilmalliance this was very useful. I don't yet own the Pocket 3, but have the Osmo Action 4. While I enjoy the review and comparison videos, especially in the format you have here, I also enjoy seeing the content created with these device like, vlogs, short films etc. Good luck on the channel
Great video!! Where can I find your online course?
Thanks, its in the description of the video, first line
Always the best when it comes to reviews..
Thanks
mine arrives tomorrow, it think it's a much better device to record with than just an iPhone, great video btw!!
I can't agree more. You will love the Osmo Pocket 3. Its great. Congratulations
This channel deserves more recognition!
How long have you owned the Osmo Pocket 3 & do you still love?
3 months and yes, I love it
Nice, I'm loving it as well
2-3 months ... continues to impress! BTW, the DJI Pocket 3 insurance/replacement is a good addition
😂 since released. Only complain is cannot change lens.😅😅😅
I have both , no way you are comparing OP2 with 3 .
the ease of external mic , connect to your phone as view screen , bigger display, much better low light , etc
cheers from Indonesia
I am loving this thing lately. I’m going to do some more vids on it. So this is helpful as I can just copy all of this and pretend it’s my info.
Haha I’ll send you the script to make it easier on you
@@thefilmalliance appreciated!! Also, film and edit it for me please and thank you.
How should I address myself? Joe camera crisis?
11:09 Any video sample of indoor self recordings?
How well does the camera/gimbal work if the camera is below the handle. Trying to use a boom stick to get horizon shots as low as possible
My only complaint is that there is no box supplied for the wide angle lens. I prefer to use the creator combo bag and no the stupid hard case.
I agree with you. Mine has fallen out twice. Thank goodness I saw it fall
Can you email me? I'd love to get this resolved for you.
@@thefilmalliance have send the email :)
I haven't received. Can you send to joinfilmalliance at gmail ?
@@thefilmalliance I did do that. Send one just now as well :)
Think it's because emails end up in spam folder
The heaviest and most knowledgeable video on the OP3 on RUclips! Inspiring to say the least. Liked and subscribed.
Thank you Tomask, I appreciate those kind words. Did you pickup an Osmo Pocket 3?
@@thefilmalliance Not yet, but …
I was on the fence about the osmo pocket 3 bc It was new to the market and wanted to hear feedback after it had been out for a while. This is just what I was looking for! Thank you!!
Yes, the Osmo Pocket 3 has a lot of real hype becasue of its image quality and portability. Thanks for the comment
@@thefilmalliance yes, that’s what I’m thinking. I can throw it in my purse and take professional quality videos at the drop of a hat. I’m really excited about this!
Wonderful overview! How's Tallahassee these days?
Thanks, love it. The Osmo Pocket 3 is my new fav camera lately
My only hesitation… no optical zoom. I have the osmo 6 with my iPhone 15 pro max, and pretty hard to beat that. Size is really the only place it looses the comparison.
True but you can scale in that 4k resolution in post. The Osmo Pocket 3 has amazing image quality so you can zoom in post
Receiving this Today. I dont know much about gimbal or cameras but i feel like i will love it❤❤❤❤
You will love the Osmo Pocket 3. Right out of the box your videos will look great.
Just bought this to film a short doc for film class. Please god I hope this is as good as you say 😂 can’t afford high end shit.
if your watching this as of September 19th - you can head to your local Costco and Costco is now carrying this thru December for $499
I bought one Saturday 7/27/2024 am I super happy with it so far
So happy for you
I really want one after this review! Will it be worth getting to use in my aesthetics clinic for content work for close ups and videos? ☺️
New Fontainebleau Hotel opened at end of 2023. This escalator goes up like 8 stories tall. But it's slanted, so more like 12 stories vertical. Man is a beast.
Would love to film that. Have you shot with the Osmo Pocket 3?
You make Tallahassee look good! Are you based out of TLH? Subscribed!
That’s awesome. You’re not the first person I’ve heard say that. The Osmo Pocket 3 is so fun to use.
This camera is a big seller in Colombia, it is very scarce, good video friend.
Hi Jorge, thanks for that. Do you own an Osmo Pocket 3?
Why you didn’t use any raw footage..??
I did in my other videos. Have you seen?
that was a very detailed and informative video. Thanks.
best review on the osmo 3
Saw your video and convinced me to get one. 😊
When do you think they will come out with the pocket 4?
Hopefully this year. How about you!?
Well if we go by history, OP2 was released in November 2020. OP3 was released Oct-Nov 2023. I wouldn't expect an OP4 this year or next, but who knows.... they could release an OP3 Pro version as a stopgap, considering the insane popularity!
@@thefilmalliance no way this year, but maaaaaybe a Pro version next year to hold people over for the OP4
@@JerseyJesterim happy with the Osmo Pocket 3 for now but always excited for the next generation
You obviously don’t know about da Vinci resolve… You should always always shoot in D-log and then if you know what you’re doing in da Vinci you could make the colors and contrast look anyway that you want.
FcPX has the same functionality just not as much as Davinci resolve. Did you buy the Osmo Pocket 3?
Im contemplating between the pocket 3 and the 360 x4. Any suggestions?
Let me play with the X4 first before I give my opinion. Give me a few weeks please
Ist a Great Little Camera and I still using it, but it overheats in direct sunlight (Like the iPhone, After 10 min. 25 Degrees Celsius in Greece). Under this conditition only my GH5 keep working. 😊
Really? I never had it overheat on me. What happens when the Osmo pocket 3 overheats? Does it just shut off or give you an error message? Thanks in advance
I'm waiting for B&H to restock so I can get the OP3 Creator Kit. I already have a project I will be using it for. I'm pretty excited.
I know, I saw it’s out of stock again. It was in stock about a week ago so I would keep my eye on it.
@@AllThingsFilm1yes BH is good about that for sure. What an awesome idea on how to hold the Osmo Pocket 3 for less up and down axis movement. I’ll have to try it out. Thanks
This is the most serious review I’ve ever seen. It’s like a Korean drama
You like?
Bought your op3 combo course. I’m determined to make full use of my op3 before any future upgrade 😂🎉
That's great. I'm excited for you to take the course. You won't need to upgrade for awhile. The Osmo Pocket 3 is amazing.
good tips for overhead shot!
how does this camera hold up in freezing temperature and extremely hot temperature?
Great equation. Not sure about that
Can the USBC Mic be used to monitor the audio that the DJI Lav Mic is picking up?
No, I wish, maybe with a firmware update. Do you own an Osmo Pocket 3?
Anker nano charger has more battery and cheaper than the DJI extendo. Consider it.
Thanks for telling me. I’ll have to look into it. That would be better then a power bank
I dont even own the Pocket 3, but here I am still watching... killer content as usual, but you somehow keep getting better!
Hi Brian, thanks brother. It means a lot coming from you. I think you should consider picking up the Osmo Pocket 3 for sure. It’s great
@@thefilmalliance you might have just sold me... That stairwell shot was amazing!
Thanks, I think you’ll love it
This is the best OP3 review I saw so far.
Thanks Ray. Do you have an Osmo Pocket 3?
@@thefilmalliance Yes, I have an OP3.
@@raywu6787Awesome. Happy for you
I just got one after 40 days waiting. I’m going to send to some content creator for unboxing vid. 😊
That’s great. Enjoy it. You will love the Osmo Pocket 3
