I have a year round Whale Watching tour business in Monterey Bay, California plus I am a pilot and I fly around in my little plane. If I am off doing both of those activities then I am on my motorcycle and touring from CA to Nevada, Arizona, Idaho, Oregon and Washington... If I am off my motorcycle too then possibly I am in my RV, camping by a river and fly fishing! Many opportunities to film great scenes but I am NEW to action camera filming... Hard to be old and behind the technology and trends. But I am catching up! Wait for my masterpiece videos! ;)
I have used my Action 5 Pro for over a month now. My main use is for bike rides, and it is great. The battery life is superb, lasting well over 3 hours. I have the adventure which came with 3 batteries. One feature I am not sure about is snapshot during recording. I play back the recording on my laptop to find and grab a still frame. What I want is to hit the shutter button to grab a still, without stopping the actual recording! It's only a minor thing, but helps.
How manage flare lense? I have action 4 and action 5 pro, unfortunately dji action 5 pro has very bad lense flare, whit action 4 I didn't have this issues. Any idee how can we fix this or maybe it's possible to fox that on the firmware update...
Great video. Really nice job. Thanks so much. I also wanted to suggest a CPL Filter. These are great to help not only protect the lens, but also to reduce glare and reflections - especially on water. Additionally, the OSMO Action Pro 5 has some odd "trumpet flare" - and I have found that the CPL Filter does a great job resolving this. Just my 2 cents. Thanks again.
Hey, thanks for watching and the feedback, appreciate it. Video already in the works and coming soon on this very topic of CPL filters and also ND filters too. 🙂
Hi from Australia. Really enjoyed the video. Especially the tips to set up simply for good quality and easy use. I walk Caminos through Spain and have used a Go Pro Hero 7, so for me this will be a good upgrade. Not high action..... but a great way to capture all the day to day landscapes and people!! And better low light performance will be an advantage. I will set up as you suggested when I get it! Cheers.
Besides the Dji 2 microphones they also have a new Dji mini microphone that only weighs 10 grams, but has no internal storage. You can also buy the mini 3 different ways you can buy one individually or one with the receiver and transmitter or with 2 mini mics and a receiver
My thoughts are if you already have a mic 2, then the mini is not needed. No internal storage and no usb c charge port meaning you need the separate cradle to charge it. It's not like the mic 2 is too big either... But if DJI want to send me one, i'll do a full comparison... 😁
@@timarnoldpt also you can buy it with a case just like the 2 and it has all the buying options as the 2 the only big difference is that it doesn’t have internal backup storage
I suspect it is too soon for them to put it on sale, the Black Friday email I received only lists the action 4 and/or 3 so they must have stock to move of those first...
Good morning Tim. This is an absolute dream of a video!!! Thanks so much for the recording. I have sub' and liked. The DJI mic 2 is an item that i havent purchased yet? is it worth it. I will be using the Pro 5 for vloging my fishing adventures...
Good morning! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! The DJI mic 2 is definitely worth considering if you want to enhance your audio quality for those fishing adventures and vlogging too.
It’s crazy how fast things can change in the tech world! Exciting times ahead with the MicMini announcement! Im not sure if it is worth it if one already has the mic 2, they are SMALL as it is, but if not, then defo worth considering.
Both the DJI Action 5 Pro and the Insta360 X4 are fantastic options for motorcycle vlogging! The DJI offers excellent stabilisation and image quality, while the Insta360 provides unique 360-degree angles. I haven't used the Insta 360 so can't give you my honest thoughts on it from a real world use case but they are gaining popularity so can't be that bad... I guess it really depends on what kind of shots/footage you want to capture! Just make sure that which ever one you choose, mount it securely to your bike so it doesn't fly off mid ride.
It's a bit annoying that DJI's video editing program only runs on smartphones. I hate that. I hate working on such small screens. It drives me crazy. DJI could definitely improve on that.
I hear you! Editing on a smartphone is like trying to do brain surgery with chopsticks-definitely not ideal! DJI, if you are reading this, can we get a desktop version, please?
I have the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, so editing is not too bad and I have other video editing software built-in from Samsung that works well. I have similar software on my Galaxy Book 360 plus some PC apps that work well too! Make sure your laptop/PC has HEVC support. My Samsung Galaxy Book 3 360 had it from factory, but my Acer Nitro didn't. I downloaded the HEVC codec extension. I added it to my laptops that needed the Codec.
When it comes to altitude I wonder why nobody ever thinking of flying? I am a pilot with a small plane and love to record my flights like many of my other pilot friends are doing. So, I got myself a 5 Pro and setup to your recommended values. If my videos suck I'll hold you responsible and if they look great then we both know I've made a very intelligent choice and all credit goes to me! But seriously, thanks for the informational video!
Pilots... “I’m amazing, you’re not, you should be more like me” 🤣🤣🤣 That’s a great point about the altitude, would be interested to know how accurate it is.
Excellent video Steve and as a fellow ‘student of videography’ I think you nailed explaining the tech settings and colour profiles👌👏👍 I plan to use my recently acquired action 5 for some future bike rides…. hopefully…one day …in the not too distant future 😬🙄 (Ps I think recognise the area you’re in as have often walked my dog there on Sussex coast local to me😁)
Glad you found it helpful, get out there on that bike and press record! Unless it is cold/wet/windy/cloudy etc, in which case wait for the fair weather, I would 🤣.
Thanks dude, appreciate that. I would say wait, for now. Unless the extra features on the 5 are something you would make good use of it probably isn't worth spending the money. I jumped from an old go pro so was defo worth it for me. If I was in your shoes, I would wait.
I have both the 4 and 5 and I’ll say wait for the 6 except if you’re like me who need longer battery life which is the only reason I got the 5 and I’ve not been disappointed.
@@OJKENNY the battery life is pretty decent, i will be testing it in the cols and snow of the mountains in a few weeks to see how it performs there too.
: Does it get warm, while recording in 4k....? I got mine...and the front screen area, gets warm, after about 15 minutes in 4k60....and after 25 minutes in 4k30. I use this camera for just walk n talk or on a hike. would like to know if this is normal....🙏

How do you use your action camera?
I dont
🤣 love this
Not used it for any action yet… using it to vlog and for pro work like stage shows.
That is the versatility of them now. It can do (almost) everything :)

Enthusiastic, not shouty. 😁
Nice one mate… I bought the OSMO Action 5 recently, I used it on a stage show using just the standard setting and it came out really well in 4k.
The standard settings are ace! If you just want a quick solution then they are the way forwards. Same with the Osmo Pocket 3 too.
