Also important how to get the cam out of the case. I press it carefully down at the end, so that the gimbal comes first out. Don’t pull the end out, so that the gimbal comes at last out, you could damage your screen mechanism (and the gimbal too).
@@MarcanoShow oh no what a shame. I was lucky because mine fell onto a pavement where I got the camera out and filmed so it wasn't too bad to find. Re-trace your steps and look around where you used the camera. I hope you find it.👍
I am renting 10 Pockets for a shoot this month. I appreciate all of your comments and tips. You mention that reducing the brightness will help keep it cool. I tested it today running it for 90 minutes, both at 100% and 50% percent brightness. In both cases the back of the screen exceeded 120 degrees Fahrenheit (48.9 degrees Celsius to you Paddys) So reducing the screen brightness doesn't seem to help other than saving the battery. I plan on using a USB batttery plugged in all day.
I don’t own a Pocket 3 yet but this video is amazing to ensure that I use my Pocket 3 well when I get one. thank you for such helpful and concise video.
You have reaaaaally done your research and tested out this camera EXTREMELY well. I'm preparing to buy my first vlogging camera and decided to go with this after being told about it from a friend. Up until now I've been using my iPhone. However I fell in love with this the more learned about it. I'm hoping to buy it next month and so I'm doing all the necessary research before I purchase it and granted I dont know the issues I'll face using it this seems to protect me from problems I KNOW I'll run into and ;possibly discourage me about this purchase. Thank you SO much for this!!! This was soooooo helpful and I enjoyed watching this!
The pocket 3 is my first camera and colour grading in the light cut app is so easy, in create not template mode, whilst editing your video click on filters then adjust then click dlogm colour grade and its sorted. Im a total novice with cameras and editing but the pocket 3 with the light cut app is so easy. 👍🤠
As always, your videos are definitely time well spent. For example, I was trying to find a way to lower the volume of the audio from the wireless mic, but the information I was getting from DJI was that the gain was automatic, so it was out of my control. THANK YOU for telling me about the transmitter gain control. I was unaware of that. Another mistake I made was that the joystick was letting me move the gimbal left and right, but when I wanted to move it up and down, the camera would start zooming in and out. Then I discovered I had tapped the middle right side of the screen where it said "1.0x." This was allowing the gimbal to be used for zooming in. I had to tap that "1.0x" again and it would change back to full control for the gimbal, left and right AND up and down. Keep up the great work. And thank you!
Thank you. I actually made the same "zoom" mistake too and couldn't work out why I couldn't move the gimbal up and down anymore. Then I noticed I had tapped the zoom button by accident!
I really appreciate your video. I’m having a hard time making a decision to purchase the camera because I want to use it to sell cars, equipment, excavating equipment, and so on. I’d like to see a video demonstrating the ability of the camera to do a walk around show, features and details of a car or a piece of equipment that would probably push me over the edge to purchase it. Thank you in advance
Hi, i have owned and used the pocket 3 for about 2 weeks and found that my films would play in lrf but would not play in mp4.After a bit of investigation i switched the codec on the p3 from hevc to h256 and video plays just great! Thanks for your videos, they are very useful for better operation of the device!
First of all, thank you for sharing your videos here, Mathew. They are incredibly useful and offer a lot to learn from. I have two questions or rather, two issues regarding Pocket 3. I’ve had it for three days now, and here’s what I’m experiencing: 1. When I take photos or videos, I cannot preview or download them using the DJI Mimo app unless I turn off cellular data on my phone. As soon as I disable mobile data, the files appear, and I can download them to my phone. 2. When I airdrop a video recorded with the Pocket 3 from my phone to a computer, the file size shrinks significantly. For example, a 154 MB video turns into 52 MB after the airdrop, whereas if I record a video directly on my phone, the file size remains the same after the airdrop. Lastly, I’m unsure whether the reduced file size retains the original quality. Can I trust the file at that size, or is there a noticeable loss in quality? And did you have these experiences?
Nice for sharing your video. It was very informative, lots to learn to my dji osmo Pocket 3, just bought, and I want my settings and I found your video, and it helps me.thanks again
I’m not a tech-savvy person, but I just ❤ the Pocket 3 camera, looking fun & cute esp. the face tracking & larger screen compared to Pocket 2. Oh the mic too😍 Learn a lot after watching your vid, great & thanks for sharing those tricks & tips🫶🏼 Btw, subscribed👍🏼
Your videos are always super helpful & concise - Thanks! Fortunately, I figured many of these things out before damaging anything . . .but I did have a couple of close calls:) Once I adjusted the settings to offset the overly “digital” sharpening, etc. - this has been a tremendous and versatile creative tool. I am still experimenting with the black mist filter with mixed results - sometimes it is overkill, but sometimes brilliant. Bravo to you and the channel!
This is all such great information. I’m a bit overwhelmed, but it’s not the first time for that. Thank you so much. When my pocket 3 arrives in 3 days I will review several of your videos again. Great content and so well put-together. Jim in Oregon
Great video. I own the pocket 3 and highly recommend getting the extended warranty. The mechanism that locks the screen horizontal or vertical is already broken, and I have been very gentle with it.
Thankkkk uuu sooo muchhhhhh... i just switched from canon m50 to Dji for my Food Vlogs. Any idea how close can i go with the camera to any hot surface ???? Normally im in kitchen of restaurants shooting recipes.. woks are super hot.... and so are kitchens .... Any protection that i can use Is lens and screen protector advisable ???
Nice job the video. What are your thoughts about the 332 bit float local recording option vs. the bluetooth option. Do you prefer one over the other? Do you use both? Thanks in advance...
Good video. But if I can make a suggestion… leave more breathing space between your points to avoid an avalanche of information to the audience. ✌🏼 I know there’s a lot of information and you don’t want to make too long. But it would be easier to listen to and also I can tell when you’ve done on to a new Point. Sometime I’m half listening as I know this issue but I leave it running to hear the next - but here I miss that we are in a new chapter. Keep up the good work. 🎉
As far as I have been told you may also use an external microphone to be connected to the USB-slot. Is that true and would you have to use a special adapter for that?
Very good video, many fine points taken. Did you hear about (rare cases of) the protective cover being a too tight fit for the Pocket 3, so that when you take it out it might lift the little screen from the body a bit. Doing this repeated times might damage the electronics in the hardware connection between the screen and the Pocket 3 body. I've just had mine for a week and didn't use the cover more than twice, because I'm mostly sitting in the studio and using it indoors to start with. Cheers!
Great stuff I’ve had mine for about a month but haven’t had much of chance to use it but going away hopefully to sunnier climes for New Year away from a grey dark and damp Scotland so it will good to be able to experiment
Love your videos my friend! Just got the Osmo 3 and studying this. Side question - do you have videos on creating RUclips videos with/without the Osmo 3?
That was a really useful video with some Top Tips we'll be sure to stick to! Especially liked the reassurance that Normal colour is fine to stick with for those who don't have too much experience of colour grading.
Matthew, please consider making a tutorial video for using the DJI Mimo app with the Pocket 3. I have learned quite a bit from your videos, and I need to fully understand the Mimo app with the Pocket 3. I would really appreciate it. Thank you for all the helpful information you give us, your viewers.
Absolutely. I have noticed that the Pocket 3 tends to expose slightly too bright when left in auto also. Just waiting for my set of ND filters to arrive to test them out!
Regarding the microphone. If I’m vlogging alongside my partner, would you recommend buying a second dji mic or will one mic pick up both of our voices? Or in this type of instance, would it be better to just record with the omnidirectional built in mic? We’re not trying to make anything cinematic, just two people having fun on their travels. I guess another instance would be if I’m speaking to say a shopkeeper, would it pick up their voice from across from me?
Just about to buy one of these but, from what I’ve read, what you could is adjust the settings so the camera records both from its built in mic and from the wireless one (assuming you bought the Creator Pack or another mic). This should allow you to record two sources very well.
A nice review! I own the first Osmo Pocket several years now, and this one offers a lot more. I use a camera LUT when editing in FCP, for I shoot in D-CineLike. Is there a LUT for this camera? Or could I use the same one, when I buy this camera?

Really helpful recommendations, many thanks. One remark about an issue with accessories. I just received my cpl filter set (polarization) from freewell. Because the distance between the filter and the gimbal back is getting too small it blocks the gimbal when closing it. You need to take it from the gimbal before switching that off !

When I first unboxed my Pocket 3 Creator Combo, I made the mistake of placing the wide angle lens in the middle slot of the holder (instead of the first slot) and trying to press the gimbal into the holder on top of that. I didn't realise I was putting pressure on the screen with the wide angle lens by trying to push the gimbal into the holder! Fortunately there was no damage.

Just imagine if #DJI came out with the POCKET 4 with two lenses: 20mm on one side and 85mm on the other. That would corner the market for vlogging cameras... even larger sensor cameras.
