Definitely a game-changer camera! I bought it and started to use it to record my cooking videos, and it hasn't gone unnoticed by my followers. They've all been asking if I upgraded to a $5K mirrorless camera although it's just a 500$ gimbal camera. Very impressive video quality. It also saves me heaps of hours in post-production in Premiere Pro. I hope Sony, Canon, Fujifilm are watching because their market share is about to tumble.
@@najiahgriffiths4216 it really saves me a lot of time because the image quality is incredible right out-of-the-box 😄 I used to record with my phone and I had to compensate its weaknesses in Premiere Pro for hours (adjusting brightness, sharpness, colors, contrast). I also had to record scenes multiple times from different angles just to ensure I would have at least one decent rush to edit in Premiere Pro. With the DJI OP 3 I don't need to record multiple times the same scene. I know it will look good regardless. I know that only one rush will be enough (which is both a gain of time when recording, and when editing after because I don't have to choose between rushs). All I need to do is transfer files via USB-C directly in premiere pro, then apply the DJI log and click on Auto for color grading. 99.9% I am happy with the end result and there's nothing else I need to do 😄
In good light any modern phone will do a good job. I didn't have xp with pocket 3 but pocket 2 was way too crappy even in good lighting if you got high dynamic range in the image. Not enough bits to boost shadows without getting noise. Maybe pocket 3 got more capabilities with its 10 bit mode, but in the end it's the quality of the matrix that matters, and 1" just can't compete with full frame at this.
*@**17:57**; It would also be extremely helpful if via a firmware update a feature allowing the user to be able to set a "dwelling time" for up to four of the programmable Motion Time-Lapse gimbal positions, which would allow the gimbal to remain at each of the programmed points for a setable 1 to 8 seconds before moving onto the next programmed gimbal position. The reason why you would want to be able to do this is if up to four positional gimbal movements were set, the transitions between each stage of the sequence would be less jarring and smoother as an overall motion time-lapse sequence if there was a pause at each step of the programmed movements. This would accomplish a more professionally looking sequence by far.*
Planning on taking my son for his first time to Disneyland this year for his 6th bday.I wasn’t fortunate to go as a kid and have only been there once as an adult. Nicely done…and paying for your own camera in a review is the only way for folks to have faith in a review (well unless the camera is simply being loaned for the review). Rarely do folks clarify this, but it usually obvious in the reviews. As for the OP3…it seems like a great overall tool for video!
I have been using the DJI pocket 2 for just short of a year and I love it! Not sure if there are enough changes for me to upgrade however the bigger screen is tempting. Recommend these cameras for anyone who wants something that is more lowkey (a lot of the times my friends don’t even realise I have the camera out and I’m recording)
The Pocket 3 is worth it simply for the low light sensor. It accurately captures night time footage as the eye would see it IMO. Used it in caverns, night walks, and other low light situations
I was thinking about upgrading also now that the mic 2 is out, I love the 2 also it's just that new feature on the mic 2 without box is tempting along with the screen. I get it thow
I've had mine for a week, and my thoughts are almost exactly the same. I've wondered how water resistant it is, if it will be ok from a spray. Some things I want to see improved: - The option to use different LUT's in the app, and even bake in LUT's to recordings. Also would like to see the DJI LUT improved, I have to turn it down to 80% for it to not look ridiculous - DLOG hyper lapse - False color monitoring in the app - Set white balance using a grey card - More first party accessories, or compatibility/integration with the action cam range
@@heyheyNow Don't get me wrong, I love my pocket 3. For the size and weight, I don't think anything can match its image quality. I come from a full frame mirrorless, so there are just a few things I'm used to having that I wish I had on the pocket 3.
This by far the best review of anything I’ve ever seen - like my man said it all … answered all questions simply understandable no fancy complicated things thank you for this … some reviewers should watch this
I think you would be okay with either. Each device has its uses for different situations. Love using my iPhone with the DJI gimbals. The Pocket 3 would be ideal to use for being more discrete in public though.
DJI have evidently addressed a number of issues of the Pocket 2. The joystick was too fragile (replaced twice), the 'handy case' presented the on button to be accidentally pressed (causing the gimbal to go mental), the thing kept switching off after getting warm, the mic wind muffler was lost twice due to it's poor 2-prong attachment, storing spare magnetic parts in the 'handy' case was asking for them to be lost (happened once but the lens was miraculously refound on the hill!), the screen was basically too tiny. Having grumbled about that I will admit I have been really pleased with the quality of image and sound. The P3 is clearly a vastly improved beast. But I'll just still to the devil I know for vlogging until I break it. Super content as always Matthew. Thanks to you I'm learning how to use my Osmo 6 phone gimbal. 🙂
I am sick of clickbait titles like this (of which there are so many) that usually all say the same thing... "Is it over hyped?" or "the truth about Pocket 3" ... all of which are meant to lead the viewer to think "Oh maybe there is an issue!" And then OF COURSE the review is good. But instead of titling the video "The Pocket 3 is Excellent" they do the baity thing instead. What I would give for honest titles. Other than that, a very nice review.
True but at the end of the day they are trying to get people to engage in their videos and use bait words to attract an audience. People have been using this method since the beginning of consumerism.
Can you set the position of the face tracking? Like, instead of your face always being in the middle of the screen, can you set your face to always be in the top third? Or on a grid?
You forgot to mention that when the internal battery loses its ability to hold a charge there is no battery replacement, you have to buy a new dji camera
This is a great video that solidified my choice in getting this for my first camera for promotional content for Youth camps and Church events. Especially the points on the size being less of a distraction for those that are camera shy, and of course the quick setting changes
I recently got it and it is a significant improvement over my portable kit with RX100VA and Zhiyun Crane m2. Especially the usability is a great upgrade. One thing in addition to your improvement points is that it is super stupid it can’t go into default storage mode with the filters on. It will twist away with the lens and filter exposed. I do think the quality of my full frame setup is much better but I don’t want to take that along everywhere.

This Pocket 3 is a great mobile camera with gimbal built in. When I start producing more on location videos, this could be my go-to video camera to add to my FF sensor photos for behind the scenes footage and a new YT channel. A lot easier and faster to setup video on the go in good light, and low light looked very impressive on Pocket 3 in that boat scene, compared to Action 4 video cam. Thanks for a great demo. Would be a wonderful vacation video cam as well. 1 inch sensor is much better than smaller 1/3 sensors.
Great video. Thanks much. An important lesson that I learned: Don't pan when doing big, landscape video. The fisheye is intolerable. The lens just can't handle it. I don't remember if I saw that in your tutorial, as I learned so many good things from this video. But I did learn it IRL.

The best explanation ever and good details 👍,I’m trying to get one of this camera and I saw too many videos and this is the best video, was perfectly for me. Thanks 🙏
My Osmo Pocket 3 started having issues with the Depth of Focus/Field. I've checked the PRO settings and have configured it to either Single, Continuous, & Product Showcase, but the shot stays blurry in all three modes. I tried tapping on the subject on the screen but it stays blurry. I have to angle my OP3 upwards then slowly bring it down to shoot a clear video, but after a few seconds, it gets blurry again. I tried resetting my OP3 back to Factory Settings, but the problem still persists. Love the cam, but this blurry issue is so frustrating! Any assistance to resolve this issue would be absolutely helpful!
I personally like it because my phone always runs out of storage or dies quicker when I’m vlogging and it’s also more convenient so I can have my phone for communication purposes
This is a great video. I feel like you have helped me understand everything I need to know to decide whether I want to buy one or not… I’m really considering it. Thank you Matthew
Just FYI regarding battery usage.... if it was just sitting still looking at a wall then it obviously will last longer as the gimbal is not drawing much (or any) power if it is "more or less" balanced already. Gimbal only draws power when it has to move against movement. On my GH4 Zhiyun crane gimbal the camera can sit steady even if power to the gimbal is turned OFF - that's how its supposed to work when balanced correctly.
Thanks for a really great and informative video! I recently rediscovered my Osmo Pocket v1 in a drawer and have started using it again, I had forgotten just how good and useful it can be. However, after seeing your video, I'm really considering getting the v3 version. The one inch sensor is very appealing, as well as the larger screen. If my wife complains, I'm going to blame you...😀
bought it already second-hand! so excited... a great combo with dji mic 1 duo and rode Lavalier aftermarket also...610e together!!!. people use to compare it with action cameras which is very wrong - I have been filming on action cameras since GoPro 1....this is a different beast for a different purpose!
Does it have pause button while video recording and does it give background blur or portrait effect in photos n vids. Here in India we r not even getting in stock first hand 😅😅. You already bought second hand 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻.
There are a truckload of features that could be improved or added, but many of them suggest themselves because it's so damn good in the first place - they would be the cherries on the cake. Apart from a fix for the bug whereby the stereo from the internal mics collapses to mono when the Mic 2 is in use (and audio backup is on), my current No.1 item on my wishlist would be the addition of main menu option to configure the functions available by pressing the joystick button. Currently that provides full gimbal lock, which is itself a feature which is far more useful than many users realise. But a missing feature which could be assigned to that button would be the gimbal mode toggle which the Pocket 2 offered when used with the extension rod. This allows you to have tilt lock as the primary gimbal setting but when you press the button (or the joystick if implemented on the P3) the mode switches to follow mode without changing the gimbal direction. Example - you are walking along a path with your dog beside you at your feet and you want to briefly look down at the dog, then back up to the path ahead. Sure you can do that with the joystick movements, but a smoother more intuitive method is to switch to follow mode for the movement just for a few seconds. Currently that isn't practical as gimbal modes are too deep in the menus. Also, focus speed when changing the focus point in the image should be configurable - at present if you tap on the screen to change focus, it snaps at once to the new point of interest, but the ability to make it look like a manual refocus at slower speed would add to the cinematic feel. And.... but let's leave it at that!
Please tell me, do I understand correctly that you can get stereo sound using one DJI MIC2, if during the processing process you add a separate audio track, which is recorded with the audio backup function from the built-in microphone enabled? Or is it stupid to add a separate audio track to make the sound better and just resign yourself to recording only in mono?
Great video, do you have any suggestions on how to play back videos or pictures on a TV, is a shame that it doesn’t have an HDMI output to connect to a tv. Thanks in advance

The best explanation ever and good details 👍,I’m trying to get one of this camera and I saw too many videos and this is the best video, was perfectly for me. Thanks 🙏
I just bought the Dji because of the price but after I pay it off I’m definitely buying the pocket 3
This was the perfect review. It gave me all the specs I needed for the camera and mic.👍✅
Where are you shooting?
The place looks amazing!
Northern Ireland!
it looks a lot like where I am in Galicia, Spain up North... Saludos desde España @@TheDroneCreative
Fantastic product. Highly needed for my channel!
bro all love i just adore the way you say VADEO
Fantastic and honest review. Thank you! Picking one up next week.
what about focus?
I need depth of field for macro shots. Will it work?
Thank you. I am sold. ❤
Thanks for the kind feedback! Really appreciate it!
An Osmo Picket is basically a flightless drone 🙂 It's a fantastic wee camcorder 😎
Hi loved this video, very informative.
Can I ask what camera and lens are you using in this video?
Thank you. I am using the Sony A6700 with the Tamron 17-70mm lens.
@@TheDroneCreative Thanks :)
What an excellent video. Thank you for the clarity in and presentation of the information.
You're very welcome!
nice video and nice information,
i really struggled to understand some parts because of your accent hahaha
keep it up, nice videos!
If my wife complains, I'm going to blame you...😀
Better quality then my phone
bought it already second-hand! so excited... a great combo with dji mic 1 duo and rode Lavalier aftermarket also...610e together!!!. people use to compare it with action cameras which is very wrong - I have been filming on action cameras since GoPro 1....this is a different beast for a different purpose!
Does it have pause button while video recording and does it give background blur or portrait effect in photos n vids. Here in India we r not even getting in stock first hand 😅😅. You already bought second hand 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻.
Nice review 💯
Yeah seems to be quite useful. I guess will buy it next 👍
Well thought out comments. Yes I love that pocket 2 selfie stick tilt button feature.
Nice review Matt, many thanks for this.
Thank you - hope it helps!
I use it for atmospheric prospective with my Blackmagic 6k pro and 😮❤
Thank you, my friend, for explanation
the shot on 4:32 is insane
Thank you for this 😊 new sub!
Thank you for subscribing - really appreciate that!
Fabulous video. Made me want to get one. Have to pre-order mine though - their selling like mad. Just subscribed. Thank you for this

Great video, do you have any suggestions on how to play back videos or pictures on a TV, is a shame that it doesn’t have an HDMI output to connect to a tv. Thanks in advance
Love the tripod! Can you share the link or product name? Thanks!
Absolutely! Ulanzi MT-44 (geni.us/NRxok)
Hello there, around 0:05 why you hold the unit horizontally? Thanks
This allows you to do a spinshot!
@@TheDroneCreative IC thanks. Besides, is there a solution to avoid up-and-down motion caused by my walking?
this camera or the gopro hero 11 creator edition?
So if I wanted to record something for Instagram I have to use portrait mode and that will only record in 3k?
I think you can hold it sideway before starting it and it will recorder it for insta but dort know exactly i get next week and could tell you theb
Thanks to your imformative video. Soon in God's perfect time i can buy my dream DJI Osmo pocket 3.
Great video. Still debating between pocket 3 and action 4.
Thanks for all the info. How would this camera perform when I video cars driving by at various speeds and inside while interviewing the driver - both photo and audio?
Definitly not overhyped. Its awesome.
Can you use the microphone in the package program without the camera and on its own?
What video are you using to record your vlog?
Can it be use for live streaming?
What tripod do you use with osmo pocket 3
Did not know about the exposure lock thank you!
can it be used as action camera video shooting ? how stable is the gimble?
thank you for the very descriptive breakdown! I will be getting this little baby!
Belfast is so beautiful! Can’t wait to revisit…Nice little camera. I hope they make its follow up waterproof. That’s the only reason why I didn’t buy it. I need something more robust.
