No you don't have to shoot in LOG. The LUTs have 2 stages (2 LUTs you apply). First is a conversion from LOG to a Standard Look and then the 2nd is the creative look. If you shoot in a standard profile then you can just use the Creative look and skip the first conversion LUT.
I'm more impressed by your acting skills. When u show us what a beginner will do, u do look like a beginner by showing that confused expressiion and unskillful movement. When u show us what a pro will do, u look like a pro by showing skillful movement and confident, getting everything undercontrol expression
I had never purchased any of the cameras in my history. I’m would like to purchase DJI osmo pocket 3 for almost everything. Would you recommend or deny. Please do reply. 🙏
Serious question. I’m a beginner. I’ve almost ordered the Pocket 3 twice now, but I keep talking myself out of it. I have an iPhone 14 Pro, and I can get the DJI gimbal for $99 or $75 open box and have many of the same features as the Pocket 3. Should I jump in and get the pocket 3 or get a gimbal for my iPhone? 😭
You have a natural gift for teaching this stuff! You go straight to the point without a lot of fluff talk and everything you do or say has a reason behind it. Thank you! I’m a super green rookie with a short attention span and my camera is literally still in the box because I feel overwhelmed and way over my head. But, you’re a great teacher. I subscribed! 👍🏾
Wow. I’m such a “beginner”. LOL. This is exactly what I needed to see. I’ve saved this specific video to visit over and over again. I am loving your Pocket 3 content. Thank you so much for sharing. Your examples truly demonstrate the power of the gear in the hands of a “professional”.
I really enjoy your videos. After over 5 decades of still photography, I am trying my hand at video. While many aspects are the same - framing, lighting, etc., the dynamic world of video is a big change and your videos have provided a good steppingstone for me. Great work!
How timely. I just received my Pocket 3 from UPS like 15 minutes ago. I used the heck out of my Pocket 2. I was really hoping for a dual lens on the Pocket 3 as that’s always been my biggest issue. The 9 shot rule, so true. A variety of shots, more to work with in post. Z-axis is definitely an issue. I’ve used the ScottyMakesStuff z-axis handle, which helps a bit. Keep in mind that things in the near foreground are much more noticeable and can’t really be stabilized adequately in post. I try to keep the walking shots higher to keep the ground plane elements out of frame. You can also shoot in 60p, walk slow and speed up in post if there are no people or moving elements.
Good advice. Also, if possible don't walk along a wall or fence etc beside you. The more you can walk in the open the better for z axis. Not always possible of course.
Since you have both the Pocket 3 and the Insta360 Ace Pro... which do you prefer and which do you think has the better quality outdoor footage in the daytime light? Also, if I purchase your LUTs, can I simply add one of your creative luts to my footage in CapCut? I'm new to adding luts to log footage and just wondered how hard it is.
Pro = let him cook on the edits and monologue. You make a story and by adding random shots and monologue on your videos, people will naturally become curious.
Hello, thanks for sharing your interesting video. I need to understand something with my new Pocket 3. No, I added a Freewell filter and now when I turn it off, the camera lens no longer rotates as before but stops halfway, and the lens is no longer protected. If I remove the filter everything goes back to normal. How can I solve it? Maybe I need to reset the gimbal in the Menu? Thank you.
Hi, man! Thanks for the really valuable tips! Please, tell me what settings of the camera were chosen? FPS, shatter speed? The picture looks smooth and nice, but I cannot reach this effect with 24 fps, 1/50 while I do panoramic view. Textures make a strobe effect, I've already started thinking to shoot in 30 fps🤔
9:11 kind of no. Both look the same. Hand is shaking like anything. Choice shots could have been better. No reveal shot executed. Kind of PRO AND BEGINNER complex. You could have placed the dji Osmo and used active track to show your self move better. You can do better …
LOL, much of the editing was slowing down footage and adding sound over different footage. I bet the beginner would be way closer to the pro look if they also used the same editing techniques. Overall though they were fantastic tips, especially the plant your feet, move slower, and DO MULTIPLE TAKES.
Cool video, well done ! Why is there no option to trigger dynamic framing and spinshot remotely in the dji mimo app though ? Also it would be nice if spinshot did 360 and not just 180.
I wish you could just walk with these things like a normal person and have NO bounce in the footage. I'm not walking like that through a city looking like a freak weirdo. Would be nice to not have to walk super slow for smooth no bouncy footage.
Great camera, great suggestions for using said great camera. This should be required viewing for anyone who buys into the Pocket 3 as this video goes over a lot of great suggestions for improving your videos, the Z Axis walk is something I need to practice. I shot yesterday in Pittsburgh, Pa, where I live and while Ive seen this video before I forgot about some of your suggestions, like getting low (ooops). but there is always next week. Now off to find an accessory that allows us to store a multitude of filters that we acquire with this camera :)
My issue is a good video camera. I hike, so I want something small and lightweight. My Sony mirrorless is my dedicated photo camera. But not sure what's good for video. Sold my GoPro as the battery was trash. Considered this DJI Pocket 3, but I don't know how it'll perform in the winter. Probably not well. And having to use that lav mic is a bit too much setup and now batteries to rely on. Perhaps a 360 cam? I don't know... It's so I can vlog my hikes, and do a few talking segments in front of the camera
Awesome! Well explained and made me realized I am in the beginner category. I was thinking to my self "that is me!" and laughed. Learned a lot and will take on board and think more about the shot and the story.
I live close to San Juan and love your videos because it shows the beauty that's right in front of me but I'm not filming it! BTW - that beginner sequence wasn't that bad except for the bounce.
Great video. Just got the pocket 3, it's impressive, I was very surprised by the active track, I saw it being used on videos like yours but it works more smoothly than I expected, especially if you combine it with tips like the ones in your videos. Thanks a lot!
I dunno, it still seems very amateur to me. Even when you're trying to be careful, the footstep motion is still in the video. These things are good for RUclips but they're not professional. More like a hobbyist.
idk, ide rather watch a video that is hella cinematic with no story whatsoever, the more random, the better; just as long as it is truly outstanding. vrs an outstanding story poorly filmed, thats not my taste. cool video.
Great video, I am just starting my journey as a vlogger so this was very helpful as are all your other videos. Love your title picture however as per your video a beginner would not have a ND filter on :) . As you say details matter ;)
I know you grind out these DJI how-to videos, but I think this was the best one yet, and I especially like San Juan Capistrano as backdrop. Have you done one specific video on nothing more than your Gimbel walk? I'd be up for watching.
Thanks for all the new pocket 3 videos. I recently picked up one after watching your tutorial videos this is a great camera for Moto travel because it’s so compact and the video quality is excellent for such a small camera. Have you had any buggy issues? I keep having issues with the gimbal sticking when I flip on the screen to turn the camera on. It doesn’t fully engage to the start position. Also, when turning it off it sticks about a 1/4 turn before fully back in the carry position. Just curious if you’ve had any of these problems and if so, do you know if DJI is aware of any of these issues. Thanks. I also just got your luts from this video
the pro uses that short time to make a sequence more thrilling and transmits that rush to the viewer... use the odds in your advantage. But if is family memories it will look good however they are made 😊
nice thanks! Anyone know which fonts hes using? or have any good suggestions for similar looking. couldn't tell if the thumbs at the end was the same, but also really like those thanks again great vid
Thanks for this video - all great points. The use of the natural sounds with the music overlayed in the “pro” video also makes a big impact. While just using music can be pleasant, it can also feel detached at times. I am always very appreciative of your work. All the best, Bob
I can just see myself in those positions about to take the best shot when all of a sudden there’s a tourist or someone else wanting to come into my space. How I dislike that!
Get my Pocket 3 LUTS for quick color grading: geni.us/BqN1X
Do these work with PowerDirector?
they are a .cube file so check to see if you can import luts into that software
Do i need to shoot in log format in order to use your LUTS across pocket 3, camera etc?
No you don't have to shoot in LOG. The LUTs have 2 stages (2 LUTs you apply). First is a conversion from LOG to a Standard Look and then the 2nd is the creative look. If you shoot in a standard profile then you can just use the Creative look and skip the first conversion LUT.
Let me explain something to you, I didn't click on this video because I wanted to learn something.
I clicked because of your funny thumbnail!
Man I’ve never felt so called out in my life.
I’m such a pro.
Am telling you hahahaha the way he was moving was like he saw me and started mimicking smh

I agree, how is the beginner better looking than the pro?
Yes. 👍 I don’t think he’s acting when he’s doing the pro stuff. He’s just doing his work in a thoughtful manner. Good acting equals not acting 🎭 😮😅😊🎉
@@kyaghleah It's acting without acting, you don't want to see the actor at work, it's hiding the craft but still it's all acting. 🤣🤣
Very useful

Would you recommend or deny. Please do reply. 🙏
This is amazing
Love the content.. Did you use 24 or 60 rps?
30fps
Are these LUTs usable on VN MOBILE APP?
Luts are a .cube file
Different shot sizes 1:35
- 2 extreme wide shots
- 2 wide shots
- 2 medium shots
- 2 closeup shots
- 1 unique angle
Man, I learned more in 10 minutes, than I have in the past several years. Thank you, you're an awesome educator.
Wow, thanks!
same here. way more than my 3 years diploma
💯
This is what I've been waiting for what seems like forever -- a beginner vs pro tutorial. Great thinking and tips!

That took some serious work to put together. Very impressive - thank you.

Love this video, but honestly, the first beginner video is better than anything I've produced. 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣that was my thought too. :)
Would you recommend this camera for filming Walk Videos?
Thanks, Jeven. This was so helpful even when using something like my Fujifilm X-S20 on a mini tripod.
One of your best ! Applicable to any camera, anywhere, anytime. Thanks man !!!!
Learned at lot from this …….Thanks
teşekkürler.. keşke biraz daha yavaş konuşsanız (google translate bile yetişemiyor) :)
I tried your Pro techniques on a tour, and pissed off wife and kids😢
This is the channel to learn how to👍

Thank you for very detailed explanation. I bought it last month and enjoying vlogging with osmo pocket 3
Geez. Having to walk like that 100% of the time is crazy. Why would anyone make a gimbal that doesn’t fix natural walking bounce?!

Hi great video. Please where , which app you colour grinding your shots from d-log? Thanks
Hello. I want to use DJI Osmo Pocket 3 as a webcam for Twitch live streams. Will I have any problems with long-term use? What are your suggestions?
Such a great video! How do you get your footages so smooth? When I try the ninja walk with my Pocket 3 you can still notice some wobble. Pls help!

Thanks for the simple but amazing in result tips. Could you give some pro tips on recording walking tour videos when we have to record continuously?
The pro moves Looks like tiger moves before hunting .🤣🤣🤣🤣
Rip Dji gimbal
I dunno, it still seems very amateur to me. Even when you're trying to be careful, the footstep motion is still in the video. These things are good for RUclips but they're not professional. More like a hobbyist.
The difference I see is that beginners enjoy the moment while the pro is just looking to a display all day
The pro most likely will post amazing footage on Instagram and will hook up lots of audience while the beginner footage would suck..😂
Sir what i buy for making best stable clean videos Samsung Galaxy s23 ultra or pocket 3 ?
idk, ide rather watch a video that is hella cinematic with no story whatsoever, the more random, the better; just as long as it is truly outstanding.
vrs an outstanding story poorly filmed, thats not my taste.
cool video.
That opening intro... Probably kinda hurt a whole bunch of people that got the pocket osmo 3 ... Just sayin
I went for a vlog to LA from San Diego and my footage was horrendous. I used the insta360 go 3 and am definitely the beginner you acted out hahah
hmmm im plan to buy this and use it while walking POV... gues it's not good for walking... hmmm
Been there before on the way to San Diego. It really is nice down there. But, I'm in grimey, homeless infused L.A.
What are luts? I am completely new to this and hear a lot of people recommend recording on 10bit D Log M.
I'm going to film the sunrise at haleakala maui. What filter should I use to get the best footage? If you don't mind sharing your expertise.

A professional has time. The beginner has a tour guide who pushes him and plenty of time to shoot. Big difference
Lol that's why you don't go on a tour. Explore on your own
The video is about upping your beginners level for those who want to. The video is not called "why do beginners shoot crap video oh my gahhh".
the pro uses that short time to make a sequence more thrilling and transmits that rush to the viewer... use the odds in your advantage. But if is family memories it will look good however they are made 😊
Thank you for the video it was very helpful! Lol I’m the beginner
It was a very beautiful image! 🤩

Great video man!

Hey! I live in San Clemente, next city over from where you recorded this video.
I really want this small gimbal cameras to reach aps-c quality and have different lenses to use
Damn, those LUTs are crisping up that log footage real nice. Great video Jeven.
What is 9 shot
Are you using the Peak Design clip with the Pocket 3?
Not all beginners lack an artistic eye. I find this video very condescending and not accurate at all.
I would like to know, how close to a subject you can get, say to a dragonfly, and would it be any good for an airshow?
DJI OSMO POCKET 3 or insta360 ace pro pls replay
Brilliant bud…. Certainly have some ideas 🙌
The pro footage reminds me of the old pc game "Hitman 2: Assassin"
another enlightening video of yours!! thanks a lot !!
Hi. Do you think after using it, do you pick it up over your phone?
text for number 10 is a repeat of number 9
dont know if that was intened as a side humour
Great veido, so with slow motion, even tge recording sound become slow ?
Can you mount the Osmo pocket 3 with your capture clip??
En mettant la caméra au bout d'une perche de deux mètres, pas besoin de marcher en ninja, c'est super fluide.

what brand cam did u used here for vlogging? thanks 😘
Absolutely loved this video, so easy to watch and informative. Just changed from GoPro to DJI Pocket 3 - keen to try these advanced moves ;)
Thank you! These tips are super helpful.

good day im a begginer what app can i use to edit and upload my videos?
I don't have a camera but watching this 😅
