Thank you. I was raised atheist and I am not an atheist. I have seen miracles and prayers come true 100% true. My son was in love with God and I let him be himself. He passed away at age 11 and I truly believe he brought me to God and was meant to do so. I feel drawn to catholicism and I feel God calling me. I begin attending RICA next week and cannot wait! I am so excited to spend as much time in church as possible because God is on my mind and I talk to him nearly 24/7. Thank you again and God bless you!

Growing up Catholic in the 1960's and even being an altar boy and learning the Mass in Latin, I found being Catholic such a wonderful experience with all of the treasured traditions of over a thousand years you mention. It all changed by 1970. Since then, it is as if it is not even the same religion. There has been continued disappointment all the rest of my life since the age 13. I continue to go to Mass at age 68 however although much has changed, but I still close my eyes and dream of yesterday.

If you are new to TLM.. don't use a book. Just watch for a few weeks/couple months. Enjoy the sights/smells/sounds without the distractions of trying to follow along. If you’re a longtime Catholic, you’ll easily recognize the major parts like of course-, the gospel reading, the homily and the consecration Of the bread and wine.
While in this stage- Study the mass, watch videos like this. Learn how to use the missal. Plenty of RUclips videos in Missals.. Slowly incorporate the missal into the Mass. But just remember- you are there to enjoy celebrating the Mass. and to receive the Holy Eucharist. Not a good time to get frustrated and lose patience.
If you find yourself getting frustrated at mass because you’re trying to follow along and you’re messing up finding places in the missal- you’re doing it all wrong. Put the missile down and direct your eyes, your ears, and your nose to the altar, and just soak it all in. And then later - after Mass- get back to studying the Mass and Missal. It won’t be long and you’ll have it all down.

There is always people at the doors offering shawls to people in tank tops or low cut tops. You never have to dress up to go to church, just wear something - anything at all - that is modest.

And sure enough, when we got to the Vatican Sites, most of the whole HiLighted glorious sites have signs requesting modest clothing.
So right before worship service my 15 year old daughter pointed to the sign and a European woman was standing close by with shawls. My daughter was wearing shorts, and of course she wants to go inside. Thank God The Senator with us had a pair of long pants, took it out of her purse and handed it to my daughter. More differences:
-Latin Mass always begins with Psalm 42 Judica Me. Novus Ordo removed the Judica Me and usually the priest greets the people.
-Almost completely different liturgical calendars and readings. It is very rare that even the Gospel will be the same at a Sunday Latin Mass and a Sunday Novus Ordo Mass. The Novus Ordo has a 3 year cycle of readings while the Latin Mass has a 1 year cycle. And there's no 2nd reading at the Latin Mass.
-No "prayers of the faithful" (petitions) at the Latin Mass.
-Latin Mass always concludes the priest reading John 1 (the Last Gospel). The Novus Ordo removed the Last Gospel.
-The Latin Mass has 1 Eucharistic Prayer (Roman Canon) not 4 options as in the Novus Ordo.

The most important difference is that the Novus Ordo mass isn’t even valid because it was devised and promulgated by the noxious heretic Giovanni Montini, aka Paul VI.

I was going to go to a latin mass this week for the first time. I think this video changed my mind, it sounds exactly like the N.O. mass i have at home. Our priest will use latin frequently, latin hyms and responses, true we dont have altar rails but most still receive on the tongue just without kneeling. It’s a 3 hour ride just for the language shift from what i can tell. I do appreciate this video, and liked it! It saved me a huge chunk of time.

That's sad you changed your mind. It's really not the same. 3 hours is a long drive. I don't blame you for not driving there. If you ever are in the area and able to attend, it would be a wonderful experience for you. When I can't make it to Mass, I watch it live on RUclips and it's the ICKP channel. They have them recorded to watch later. You could just watch a recorded one just to get the idea. There's definitely a lot more prayers throughout and Gregorian Chants are also quite Heavenly.
      God bless!

@@katdunn7934 well i had a conviction with the folks at my parish and i told them, if they are going to be bashing the pope on the ride up there or afterwards i want no part in it. She immediately spat out 3 accusations against him, i said see. This is what im worried about, i just converted from protestantism where everyone bashes the pope and now im catholic and im still dealing w it. I watch the orthodox and they bash him, the liberal media, conservative media, atheists, LGBT, and now the latin trads too?! I said what christian group can i be a part of where they wont disparage the holy father?

Well, where I live (SE Poland), those unwritten rules also apply to Novus Ordo mass. That might be the case due to my diocese being the most religious one (~70% attending Sunday mass regularly). Another rule I'd like to add: be on time. When I attended masses in Italy, some people would be late or use their phones.

I think there is a specific problem in NO on the US. I live in Canada so not a drastically different culture but I've never seen these "clown masses" with "Protestant liturgies" people talk about. Everyone at my NO church is respectful and follows most of these rules.

In my entire life I only attended 3 Latin Mass it's so rare here and am happy you guys have regular access to Latin Mass. I'm happy for you! People Jesus is so abused inside the Church there was a time a priest did not allow me to bend my knees in holy communion. When I wanted to complain about the priest that's when I learned about holy obedience. One time during communion there was two lines one we're the priest distribute the communion and the other is where people go to the table to
pick and grab the Holy Eucharist like a cookie his explanation, I understand your in a hurry. TLM is very rare here. If you have holy and good priest and attend TLM mass every sunday consider yourself privileged.

I've attended the new mass all my life. When the churches opened up and I saw that they were sacrilegious in all of them, I learned that there were TLM being given. I drove over an hour to attend TLM. Good thing is that I found a TLM 15 minutes away. I love the TLM and it's hard to attend the new order mass. My teen age son and I attend the TLM. It's heart breaking to hear that your parish priest doesn't let you kneel. I'll keep you in prayer. God is Good!

    • @quememuera

Find the closest traditional mass and get in your car and drive. You might have to drive more than an hour. Use that time to pray. You can say a full 15-decade rosary in that time. What else do you have to fo on a Sunday that’s so important? I drive nearly an hour each way every Sunday and I look forward to it. Avoid the Novus Ordo as if your soul depended on it, because it does. I wouldn’t be caught dead at a Novus Ordo mass and if there wasn’t a traditional mass within a reasonable driving distance, I’d move.

I like everything you said, and I can say I agree with everything.

God bless who bring their young fussy children despite how difficult it is. Bringing all that and their imperfections to the Lord is a blessing. I hope they continue to have courage to do so. Children are children. They won’t always understand how and when to be quiet. But bringing them to the mass is planting a beautiful seed. God bless the mothers who sweat under that veil when their kids act up and are doing the best they can, even if against ideals of others they resort to give their kids snacks during mass 🙏🏼 I used to think I would be the perfect mom. But you don’t know until you have them. Don’t be deterred from assisting the mass when you have small children! ☺️

    • @katdunn7934
      @katdunn7934 2 месяца назад

They also have cry rooms so it's a good idea to use them when they get too fussy. The food should not be brought in. Too often, Cheerios and other snacks are left under the pews where the parents don't bother to look. I don't know why they don't. I don't know when people started bringing snacks to church to keep their kids quiet, but we didn't do that when I was little and I didn't do that for my daughter 36 years ago. You take them out to settle down and return when comforted. It's great when people bring their children. there are just things that parents have to take into consideration. It's not that hard.

We don't have an EF mass anywhere close by. I wish we did because so much reverence has gone out of the mass since the novus ordo. It's a shame. But thank you and God bless you.

He kindly thought me what to do before he started. I loved that it is so quiet and the pain on my knees due to prolong kneeling actually brought me joy and i do not know why. Kneeling and Communion in the tongue is really reverent, genuflecting everytime you will pass the tabernacle/altar. i do not know latin and i prayed in silence while letting the priest lead the prayer for us. I love it. I will definitely come again (alongside Novus Ordo) ✝️🙏🛐
