Lex Orandi Lex Credendi. This series introduced me to the TLM. I cannot believe what I have been missing out on as a cradle Catholic. I even introduced my non-Catholic Father this series and after attending his first TLM, he decided he wants to become Catholic. Deo Gratias.

@@cameronohearn Thank you and your production team for the clear passion and desire to spread the one, true Catholic faith to the world. Your passion for this series really shows. I've watched episodes 1 and 2 countless times and I don't think I will ever get tired of re-watching them.
My Father always hated being forced to attend Easter and Christmas N.O. mass with my family twice a year. He complained about having to hold hands, having to greet the people around you, and having to recite the prayers aloud, so he felt left out. After watching these two films, he told me, "It all makes sense. I am so glad I am not the only one with these feelings." Just as I did, my Father left the films with a true, deep desire to seek out the Mass of the Ages.
Just as Dr. Taylor Marshall spoke about the Eucharist in his interview, I believe your ability to tell this story, to influence the Catholic and non-Catholic world, and to speak truth, your film is a beautiful and awe-inspiring setting that brings the world to the diamond that is the Tridentine Mass. I cannot thank you enough! Please pray for my Father's discernment in his conversion to Catholicism.

My sixth grade teacher, a Milwaukee Franciscan, told us we were lucky to be living in such exciting times. (Vatican II was under way) Three years later, she was no longer a Nun. Four years later, our school was closed because all the Nuns left. The Catholic High School I attended no longer exists. The Catholic Grade School and High School my Mom attended no longer exist. The Seminary in my Diocese no longer exists. My Diocese has one third of the priests it used to. I could go on. Who, in his right mind, could call this progress, or good health.

It is impossible to call this good fruits. It is diabolical. The only way through is Tradition. It is inevitable. As a 27 year old dad of 4, all I can say is that my faith was quite muted before I found the TLM. The TLM introduced me to a way of religious devotion that elevated the volume of the sacred and muted out the world instead. Every aspect of our life has become more devoted and religious for one simple reason, and it's the way we worship the liturgy on Sundays at the TLM. We homeschool now and live much more simply without as many worries and fears about things which are not related directly to the sanctity of our family. Can never ever ever thank God enough for this beautiful gift and the peace it brings to us.

Not only are the Polish Catholics far more revenant and traditional, we regained the transubstantiation of the Mass again. I also discovered adoration and the magnificent joy of Holy reconciliation. Our faith is such a beautiful gift. It's just being sabotaged by mediocre managers who seek esteem not redemption. Keep wokeness out of Church and all will rediscover the traditional beauty available to all who attend with humility and devotion.

@@monarchblue4280 it now depends on family and education. In the communist period especially (but really for all of polish history) being catholic was seen as necessary to be polish.
Now, many poles want to assimilate to EU social leftist values and minimize their faith. This is for financial gain, as the church has been almost a universally positive influence in polish history. Typically, these socially left poles are seen in homes from weak marriages.
Overall, Poland is much more faithful than the rest of Europe. A friend of mine who is a priest in Tarnów (most religious diocese, in the south) was deeply concerned that mass attendance dropped under 75% recently. The traditional minded poles have nearly 100% mass attendance, while novus ordo churches are 30-40%. It is sad to see such a rich catholic heritage being threatened by changes to the mass.

I converted to the Catholic faith when I was 19 in college and have been Catholic for a few years now. I always thought it was just me who felt so incredibly hurt for having the normative form of Catholic worship for 1500 years taken from my generation without any apparent regard for what it would do to us. I don't even have any particular attachment to the Latin language per se, just the ritual excellence and reverence of the Tridentine liturgy. How could it be that the Popes subsequent to the council were clearly unsatisfied with the novel introductions to the Mass and did nothing about it?
Modern men and intellegista were allowed to illegally dump pollutants into the great river of our tradition saying, "This is liquid like the water, so it is the same thing." Yet I am the one treated like a foreign growth subverting the Church and the authority of His Holiness, Pope Francis, for being a traditionalist. I feel like I have converted to a religion that does not want me to be a member of the Church of Christ that has forgotten who she is among the world religions-the only institution of truth in the world. I have been gaslit by the modern men in our age to think that I have fallen in love with the wrong thing. As soon as I graduate, I am finding a job in an area with access to a Latin Mass community.

The PROBLEM is that some misguided people in the Latin mass community have taken an adversarial, hostile approach to the Vatican AND have also made the mistake of being hostile and adversarial toward the Catholic community as a whole by asserting superiority over folks who are happy with the novus ordo. I really do think you are pointing the finger in the wrong direction.
DON'T GET ME WRONG: I happen to think that the new mass is just UGLY, but that does not mean that those who are satisfied with it are enemies of mine or that I am going to get angry about it and build up resentments.
Something I appreciated about the Catholic faith is that it used to be that there was "something for everyone" in it. Think of all the various churches that are under its umbrella, for instance, such as the Byzantine Catholic Churches, etc. Likewise with the traditional Latin Mass. It's a beautiful thing to have. It is wonderful to be able to make that choice. But instead of gently welcoming the novus ordo people and inviting them lovingly back to the traditional form, I DO see a lot of hotheads on social media banging big noisy drums of animosity around this topic and behaving in a rude manner. That just has to stop.
A very good friend of mine prefers the new mass. Her rationale is that it is preferable because the words are understandable and nobody knows Latin because no one speaks it and hardly anyone studies it any more. I have heard from some people that they feel that the Latin Mass proponents are arrogant or they behave in a superior fashion. I don't think that is true. It sounds very much like an inner insecurity with those people. But I mention it because it pertains to the point I am trying to make, which is, I believe, the same one that Pope Francis recently made, and that is that the TLM community is causing a fracture with some exagerrated hostility. It's the wrong approach. Instead of getting mad and treating it like a political debate, we should be embracing one another in fraternal love and care to get this ship back on course.
We should be on our knees pleading for the cause of the TLM, instead of marching in the streets, banging drums, firing canons, and yelling about our grievances.

When I converted from an Evangelical Christian perspective to Catholicism, my mother (Baptist) said to me that she didn't mind as long as I didn't attend a Latin form of the Mass. I found that an incredibly interesting thing for her to say, but she didn't elaborate. On that day that I was baptised, there was a Nun present at the baptism and she met & was talking with my mother. They seemed to get along quite well, and the Nun later said to me that "Protestants & Catholics are not that different, are they(?)" but she asked me in a questioning way as if she was looking for reassurance. Now, as one who has found the Latin mass & discovered all the teachings that were stripped from the Church after Vatican II, I can say, yes, we are immensely different. The teachings of Evangelical churches and the teachings of the Catholic Church pre vatican II have major differences. And the disapproval/suspicion that my mother showed towards the Latin mass I believe comes from a place of fear of that true divide between Catholics & Protestants becoming more apparent to me (which is not so apparent in Novus Ordus Mass'). While there are certain core beliefs that we share, there are certainly strong differences of which I am becoming painfully aware now that I am in a mixed marriage (approved by the Church before anyone asks...)

One of the things I respect about the Orthodox, Coptic, and other traditional churches is the preservation of their liturgies. When you attend one of them, there is a profound sense of holiness, and the entire service is centered around the Eucharist. You KNOW it is the Body and Blood. When I was but a wee lad, way back in the mists of time, there was no such thing as the "Traditional Latin Mass," there was only the "Mass." I was in High School while the Robber Council was under way, and I was wholly disenchanted by it. Changes to the Mass started coming out even before the Robber Council closed. It started with the order that the Mass Readings -- Epistle and Gospel -- were to be read by the Priest from the Altar Missal in the Vernacular. I remember seeing one of those updated Missals and thinking "How Distasteful!" Then the Offertory was put in the Vernacular and the Prayers at the Foot of the Altar and the "Leonine Prayers" at the end of Low Mass were done away with. Finally the Canon and even the words of Consecration were also changed to the common language. This was followed by such foo-faw as "Lay Lectors," who somehow turned out to be mostly women. reading the Epistle and leading the "Bidding Prayers." And this was BEFORE the introduction of the Novus Ordo Missae in 1969. At the time I was unaware of any "Resistance" among the clergy. The whole thing prompted me to go off into my "Prodigal Years," of which I will not speak here.
Then, in either 1976 or 1977, the late Father Francis Fenton came to a local Holiday Inn near our town and celebrated the TLM and spoke at a Communion Breakfast that followed. I remember that the title of his speech was "The Roman Catholic Church, Its Tragedy and Its Hope." I learned much, but my biggest take-away was knowing that the TLM was still available, though under mostly clandestine circumstances. And HOO-Triumphalist-RAY! I was able to return to the same home that I had so stupidly left!! I went to confession, and have been back with the True Mass and Sacraments ever since.

Why was the Latin Mass suppressed? When Pope Paul VZi realized that Bsp. Bugnini, who served as Prelate of the Office of Liturgy and Divine Worship, the creator of the Latin Mass was a Mason why did he not re examine what he’d created? Why did he not excommunicate him. Pope Paul transferred him to Iran in charge of 20,000 Catholics. Why did he risk endangering the faith if these people?
Rev. Charles Murr sheds much light on the infiltration of Freemasonry into the Church in the book, Murder in the 33rd Degree. Bsp. Eduardo Gagnon did a thorough investigation of the infiltration. Pope John Paul wished to clean it out but died in the process. Pope JPII was either naive or too preoccupied w/his travel plans to remove the Masons which Bsp. Gagnon identified. Sad neglect of duty.

@@johnholmes6667 I do not "Know" that Bugnini was a Mason, but I suspect that the "smart money" would back that wager, and even give you odds! As to Pope Paul being surprised by the very wide gap between what he might have expected and what he got, he was nevertheless quite pleased with the Novus Ordo Missae. I'm sure he, thorough modernist that he was, viewed it as his "Legacy!" He was right in that, since his memory will always carry the shame of having dumped this "excrementum" upon the Church! And.. It was the Bishops, thorough modernists themselves, who acted as if the Novus Ordo gave them permission to forbid the TLM, even though it didn't. So they went ahead and banned its celebration within the world's dioceses. As was eventually acknowledged by Cardinal Ratzinger while he sat upon Peter's Throne using the name Benedict, the TLM was "NEVER" abrogated! It is as valid and licit today as it was in 1573!

In contrast with the vernacular languages, Latin was fixed to the Cross by Pontius Pilate's command, Therefore, by being fixed to the cross Latin became a sacred Language. Fixed to the instrument of salvation. It is more important what God considers sacred than what humans consider comfortable, such as having their local language.
It is worth mentioning that many Saints prayed in Latin, for most of them it wasn't their vernacular language, yet they didn't complain. Rather they saw learning to pray in Latin as a sacrifice pleasing to God.
The Saints composed prayers in Latin and exorcised demons with Latin prayers. The demons hate Latin because it was on the Cross and because the Saints used them during the Mass, the Breviary and the special Blessings for Sacramentals and Exorcisms which are in Latin.
Few priests nowadays use these blessings, and instead, they use generic blessings of less efficacy, often those prayers are not the prayers authorized for the Church, but rather a blessing they made up on the spot, or which do not clearly state the intention to Bless. On the other hand, the Roman Ritual is in Latin and contains approved texts and rubrics.
Of course, love, reverence, the state of grace and the sanctity of the people are more important than the language, even then if all things considered they are the same except for the language, Latin would have the advantage over vernacular languages.
People who go to Latin Mass, do not have to understand Latin. They carry the readings with the translation on a Missal. And that may include the chants, Propers of the Mass (The readings which change) and the Order of the Mass (The prayers which do not change every day).
Even then, the parishes or chapels do publish the readings for the faithful to read beforehand. And the priests, read the translations of the readings before they preach.
Latin has pronunciation rules which are accessible and easy to memorize, even 7 old altar boys can do it. Even then, the faithful don't have to say the Mass responses or sing.
Generally, Latin prayers are faster to say than in most languages, as because of the declensions and other grammatical rules of Latin, it's generally possible to say more with fewer words.
There is a myriad of other reasons I haven't mentioned as to why Latin should be more widely used in the Church.

TO quote you from above, this is very important! Why wouldn't people want the gold standard of The Mass (TLM)?
OTOH I believe Our Blessed Lord when He talks of the intent of the heart being most important thing of all.
Some of the truest holiest priests and people I've met have been at the so-called NO Mass. I think it is wrong of some in the TLM movement to claim sincere heartfelt Catholics in the their NO Masses are somehow doing wrong.
Why can't we have a continuum of liturgies? No doubt a source of purest devotion emanates from the Mass of the Ages.
Instead of banning Latin Mass we need MORE Latin masses. Every parish. The two can co-exist. It is a progression of treasure on offer to the faithful.
Banning Latin Mass is like blocking off the well and only relying on random rain.
As you rightly point out there are things more important than the language (order of gravity) and the fans of TLM can miss the message of Christ by claiming the NO is somehow heretical. Have both. Draw connections and parallels and promote the treasure of tradition. Both sides (PF and the TLM) are creating divisiveness. The Church should allow both and disallow heresy from either form.
Focus on Christ's message first and foremost.

This film reveals what priests really need today, and it's not marriage! Priests and we and the world are starving for REVERENCE: profound, adoring, awed respect (Merriam-Webster definition), placing the soul in the presence of God in its thirst for union with Him, the most basic hunger of the soul which only the Catholic Church can nourish. If souls don't find the reverence they seek at Mass, they will look for it elsewhere, in Freemasonic ritual, Zen Buddhism discipline, occult practices, witchcraft, Final Fantasy, and other ersatzes.

I'm in agreement with your post. Most Catholics know little of the vast storehouse of rich devotional methods and practices because the post Conciliar Church has chosen to busy itself with worldly matters, not supernatural ones. This adopted approach has impacted every facet of Catholicism and has left it depleted, meager and dry. This has prompted many who crave profound meaning, beauty, transcendence and solemnity, to seek it outside the Church.

Along with reverence, the world, and all of us in it, have lost an understanding of innocence, modesty, gracefulness.
The worship and primacy of the 'self' constantly glorified, is replacing manners, politeness, dignity and respect of the self and others. Perhaps a society that exhibits reverence could recover these other important and nearly lost virtues.

My goodness how much we've lost. What damage has been done to our church. I grew up the child of a staunchly Catholic father, who was an altar boy in Notre-Dame de Paris. Whenever we went to mass when I was a child (Novus Ordo by that time, in the 90s) he almost seemed to be in physical pain when we were in church. He did not feel the presence of our Lord anymore, he cringed at the liturgical abuses, but by that point (and this was a time few people had access to the internet) all Catholic churches in our wider area seemed to be the same - we certainly tried plenty.
I never knew what he meant when he talked about feeling the presence of our Lord, having grown up around some particularly heinous examples of NO abuses, until I went to a Greek Orthodox Divine Liturgy. I would love to attend a Tridentine Mass, and experience the beauty of the Traditional Latin Mass that my father loved so dearly. Unfortunately when I finally discovered a church that celebrated one, I was diagnosed with cancer and had to go into isolation due to being immunocompromised, as isolation that ended up lasting over two years when the pandemic hit us just months after my cancer diagnosis. By the time I was no longer quarantined, the one church that celebrated the TLM had stopped doing so after Pope Francis' crackdown on the TLM. The Novus Ordo, in its present form, is an abject failure. I am incredibly saddened by the fact that Pope Francis has undone so much of Benedict XVI's work in restoring the Latin Mass to its rightful place as, at the very least, an option to those who value it.
It hurts to see what happened to our church. I can't help but feel sometimes that everyone is welcome in Pope Francis' Catholic Church, except traditional Roman Catholics.

I’m stunned but not surprised. Holy Mother Mary brought me back to Catholic Church as a lifelong baptist in 2016. Studied A year in a Seminary in 2016-2017. Reluctantly Took on a hospital job in 2018 and learned to love it thoroughly with the help of our Mother Mary whom has been with me my whole life. I was a cardiovascular research analyst who preferred computational analysis of diseased hearts. Now, working directly with heart patients. It’s a constant joy and tears witnessing the frailty of each human life divided by One breath and One heartbeat.
There are a lot of diverse opinions in the Church on how it should be. But I try to just immerse myself in the scriptures and tune out the noises. I think anyone here with a strict Protestant bible drilling life could relate to what I am experiencing.
That one year of study in the seminary was very important as my first year as a Catholic. I was one difficult student raising questions of what secular world have that needed to be addressed as we Catholic evangelise. Our Rector Father priest would always smiled and sat next to me during session breaks. His silent grace gave me a lot of encouragement for asking questions. And I loved him for being there during the first year of my Catholic life.
God is with us all of the time.

There were so many abuses of the liturgy that gave the overall impression that it was stupid and that it was a waste of time. It took a long time but I finally found a Traditional Latin Mass and stayed with that until I retired and moved to southern Missouri where we only had the Traditional Mass once a month on a Wednesday evening. Actually, the best journalistic investigation was the liturgical trilogy written by the late, great Welshman Michael Davies (it's quoted in this video). I definitely recommend you try it. This is what Cardinal Ratzinger said about the writings of Mr Michael Davies:
I have been profoundly touched by the news of the death of Michael Davies. I had the good fortune to meet him several times and I found him as a man of deep faith and ready to embrace suffering. Ever since the Council he put all his energy into the service of the Faith and left us important publications especially about the Sacred Liturgy. Even though he suffered from the Church in many ways in his time, he always truly remained a man of the Church. He knew that the Lord founded His Church on the rock of St Peter and that the Faith can find its fullness and maturity only in union with the successor of St Peter. Therefore we can be confident that the Lord opened wide for him the gates of heaven. We commend his soul to the Lord‘s mercy.

I just can't understand WHY...WHY did they ruin the mass and make it so darn UGLY? There is no reverence in it. The language feels like someone dragged a big sack of potatoes into the church and started throwing them at me, one by one. It makes me want to cry. I was a nun in a Hindu convent, living a contemplative life - and I gave it up for the beauty of the Catholic faith and its contemplative tradition. Huge disappointment. I'm shifting over to the Latin mass. It's available in ONE accessible church in my town...a very old, kind of run-down and poor church.
