I moved from Brazil to Italy, from Italy to England, I was thinking to move to Switzerland, but I had enough!!!
It's time to change, all this emptiness can't be filled by the world. It took me 31 years in my life to understand it.
Now, I'll give myself totally to God ,my heart and my soul, I'll become a Deacon and by grace of God I hope help a lot people and get my passport to heaven.
Don't waste your time with false promises in this earth, Surrender to God !!!

I'm an alcoholic doing the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous Recovery Program. And knowing the Confessions of St Augustine, I can say that St Augustine laid the foundation of the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. Thank you Bishop Barron.

    • @cjnc1101
      @cjnc1101 3 месяца назад

12-steps did not come from the Church. St. Augustine would not support it. Dr. Bob Smith and Bill Wilson (founders) admit that much of their philosophy came from the Oxford Group Movement, which was censured by the Church because it promoted religious indifferentism. Bill Wilson participated in occult practices and later took LSD (which he saw no contradiction in AA) because he sought spiritual experiences (Step 11). He sought lessons from Fulton Sheen to convert to Catholicism, but stopped because Catholicism is incompatible with AA. This info was shared by a Priest.

I think the moral lesson of co-workers' common values, and beliefs has significantly affected teamwork given an action of support from the administration. This will help us to be more productive, stronger, creative, and committed to engaging in our daily task jobs. Not only co-workers but also help the students discover more about themselves and improve their confidence and sense of well-being, especially in their academic performance.

I have had so many people, even a minister at my church, to have been raised Catholic; yet, not understand their need for Jesus, our Savior. Thank God, I had good priests and religion teachers that taught me that I am saved through grace by faith in Jesus. You so eloquently explain this in this and your other videos, and I just want to thank you. You are giving so many Christians, whether Catholic or Protestants, and unbelievers the true hope of the Gospel-Jesus is Lord and Savior, and He came to earth to pay our penalty for our sins. May God bless you and your ministry as you continue to proclaim the Truth that is Christ!

Great documentary, thanks, currently reading The Confessions. In the orthodox church we learn that we do not inherit The Original Sin as some kind of marker that makes us impure from the very beginning of life, but rather that you inherit the fruit, or the circumstances of sin. If my father is an alcoholic, as his child I inherit the fruit that comes from that lifestyle. But just being born into the world does not make is guilty of sin

Lord Jesus, let me know myself and know You,
And desire nothing save only You.
Let me hate myself and love You.
Let me do everything for the sake of You.
Let me humble myself and exalt You.
Let me think of nothing except You.
Let me die to myself and live in You.
Let me accept whatever happens as from You.
Let me banish self and follow You,
And ever desire to follow You.
Let me fly from myself and take refuge in You,
That I may deserve to be defended by You.
Let me fear for myself, let me fear You,
And let me be among those who are chosen by You.
Let me distrust myself and put my trust in You.
Let me be willing to obey for the sake of You.
Let me cling to nothing save only to You,
And let me be poor because of You.
Look upon me, that I may love You.
Call me that I may see You,
    And for ever enjoy You.
    Amen.
    -St. Augustine of Hippo

Great video. Makes me want to read the Confessions and City of God. At around 33:00, in the comments about the City of God about how having a phony idol (phony gods) could lead to bad behavior in society. I remember St. Augustine made a similar comment in the Confessions, which is so true in contemporary culture. Today the gods may come from Hollywood rather than Greek/Roman gods. If the Hollywood gods are phony, the morals and behavior of society will be phony. What you worship and value the most determine your behavior. Just like in reinforcement learning and consistent with Matthew 6:21.
