Excellent video on the mass. I was raised Catholic and later became a protestant pastor. Served as a pastor for 39 years. However, after much prayer and intense research into ancient documents I have come home to the Catholic Church. I have never been happier.
That’s incredibly encouraging. Many many Catholics have left the faith for other Christian faiths. It seems like they are further away than if they’d lost all faith or never had it.
@@exposingtruth600 I was baptized as an infant, and was confirmed on April 20th, yes. I was raised Protestant (Baptist) and I’m converting soon. I cannot wait! I’ve never felt closer to God than when I’m in mass. This was a very educational video! Thank you so much 🙏🏼
I attended my first mass Sunday and honestly I was so confused. I grew up baptist, come from a long line of Baptist pastors (my 7× great grandfather lead the traveling church out of virginia to kentucky) but something didn't feel right until I stepped into a catholic church and realized I haven't been home in awhile. the catholic church is my home
Thank you for sharing this! We hope that you'll continue to be drawn to Mass and that the Lord will give you the graces to experience His loving presence there! Many blessings to you!
I was raised Catholic and I went to 8 years of parochial school. No one ever explained the mass like this for me. I am now married to a non denominational pastor, but miss the Catholic Church. The reverence is beautiful. Thank you for this.
Who taught you about Holy Communion? Read 1377. Holy Communion is Holy Matrimony, He weds Himself to your soul then tries to enter your heart. He can only love you as much as have learnt to love like Him. Holy Communion lasts for at least 15 minutes, maybe more. He is Truly Present within you, like He is enthroned in His Temples within His Tabernacle. Tabernacle means Tent. Your heart longs to be touched by Him and your soul hungers for His grace. Most have only been politized by the demons not knowing of their deceit.
As a long time Protestant who has attended Mass on several occasions. I have found this very helpful, I was always a bit nervous to ask what responses should I be giving. Furthermore, I am contemplating of converting to Catholicism. Not sure how my wife will feel about that. But its something I am praying about.
Thank you for this feedback! I'm glad to hear it was helpful for you. We will be praying for your continued discernment around Catholicism, and for your wife!
Your open heart and love for the Lord is the response God wants. However, The Mass; it’s beauty, fullness of truth, and worship of God through consious and active participation is in your church’s Hymnal. My church has the blue GATHER Hymnals and it starts on page 168 and in Spanish it is in the very front of our orange FLOR Y CANTO HYMNAL. Welcome and May God bless you, protect you from harm, and lead you to eternal life. Love in Christ. 🕊️
I grew up in the Church of Christ and am a devout Protestant. I am going to my second Mass, my first one was for a friend of mine, he invited me to his Confirmation. And I went but was very confused. Nearly 10 years later I’m going again. But in the last couple of years, I have gained a lot of respect for Catholics and the Catholic Church. I have began to recognize that while we have some differences in traditions of the church, we believe the same thing. We are believers of Jesus Christ, and that he died for our sins, and rose to Heaven, He is the Savior that conquered Death and is the redeemer of mankind. And I have recognized that understanding the different belief systems is very influential in ministry to the lost, so many people carry church hurt especially, but it’s only through the Grace of God that there can be Peace. God bless you all in your Journey of Faith with Jesus.
Thank You! I need to learn the Mass, I haven't been to church in years, and coming to mass today, while waiting for mass to start, I got sick,! I felt like I had crushed glass inside my body and it was ripping my insides out, it really hurt!..... But now, I am at total peace. I feel really good.. I want to learn the mass and the responses too. I never want to be a stranger in The House of God, ever again. I am clean inside!!! I feel light as a cloud. I never knew how bad off I was. I am so glad to have experienced the pain, and sickness that I felt. Jesus was ripping out my sins from my soul. It really hurt!
I am baptised as a baby, I have recently been called back home by God, I am attending lessons every Wednesday, Benediction every Thursday and mass every Sunday. This video has helped me so much as I’m desperate to learn properly and understand completely and wholeheartedly ❤ I plan to take my first holy communion after Easter ❤
You don't need to be nervous! People are visitors to Catholic mass all the time. Just follow the movements of everybody else (sit, stand, kneel, etc) and it will be easy. And if there are books in the pews with music, there's probably a section in those books that will help you follow along with all of the words at mass as well. We will be praying for you that you have a good experience at Mass this weekend! Blessings to you!
Never been to a Catholic Church, but I’m a Christian. My former third grade student is now a Father. I’m so proud of him. I am nervous about attending but any chance to get closer to God and support my former student, is purposeful. Prayers for Father Ian and me. 😊
The Latin Vulgate, the Holy Bible translated to Latin, came into being by the works of St. Jerome by the beginnings of the 5th Century. There were no other supposed Christian denominations at that time.
Thank You 🙏 (Excellent Mass Video) After 50-years of Marriage I Sponsored my Husband becoming Catholic last year. I was raised Catholic and we raised our Son Catholic. I am so happy that my husband can share Mass and Holy Communion with us now. We continually learn more about our Faith everyday 🙏
I’m returning to my faith and never had such a detailed explanation of the holy mass. This makes me appreciate it even more and how beautiful it truly is. Every move, every single action has a reasoning.
What a great video! While my Dad was a cradle Catholic, he left the Church shortly after I was baptized. The way he explained his leaving (Mom was divorced when they married) kept me away from the Catholic Church. Thanks to social media, I found out I had listened to incorrect information. Through the study of the Bible, I finally realized God was talking about His one, Holy, Catholic and apostolic Church and not to any other church. My first mass attendance was very humbling. I realized then that God had shown me the mass in a dream as a child either right before or right after I had joined the Presbyterian Church in 1967. Had I only known then instead of 50+ years later.
I converted to Catholicism years ago because I married a Catholic who absolutely refused to attend a Protestant Church. I am so grateful that he stood his ground. In so many ways I have been so blessed to be a Catholic. That same faith held our marriage together through tough times. I loved this explanation of the Mass as now that I am an older woman whose children are raised I’ve had much more time to study and understand my faith more deeply. One very important thing I’ve come to realize after reading several books about the mass is the realization that as we kneel beneath the cross we are in fact kneeling beneath Jesus himself because God is not confined by time and I believe we are able to comfort our savior as he dies because he is able to see his people over all the ages to come who follow him. I’m not totally sure if this is in the catechism? I would love to know your thoughts. It seems to me that this revelation is made in the words of the Divine Mercy Chaplet? Thank you for this video!
@Jill Winkler Jill, My dear, you are totally right. It is a representation of our Lord's death for us, which brings our emotions to accompany our faith, making us more closely identified with His suffering. Something better understood by us, Catholics, than by those who are filled with deep prejudice, which keeps them blind to the truth and meaning of why salvation involved such savage treatment of our Savior for our redemption. God bless.
Is praying to angels blasphemy? I'm protestant but plan on attending a catholic mass tomorrow, hence why I'm here. Everything looked ok with me until the last part where a prayer to the arc angel was mentioned, prompting me to ask the above questions. I've always known prayer to be something meant for the father and only he alone. This article has stated the following and I'd like to know the opinion of you or whoever read's this; "1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells the believer to pray without ceasing. This would only be possible if a believer has access to a God who is always present and available to listen to the pleas of every person at one time. Angels do not have this ability-they are not omnipresent or omnipotent-and as such are not qualified to receive our prayers. Prayer to the Father through Christ is the only necessary and effective means by which we can communicate with the Father. No, praying to angels is absolutely not a biblical concept."
All of that is wonderful to hear! We are glad that you found this video helpful. Many blessings to you on your journey as you strive to follow the Lord wherever He leads!
The beauty of the Roman Catholic church is that mass is universal. Am east African and was born Catholic. Mass is very much the same. I feel at home attending mass anywhere.thank you for explaining the Nicene/ apostolic creed
I found my faith in christ about six months ago and I've been going to my local catholic church for the past couple of weeks. The tradition is beautiful and fascinating. Although I'm still learning the prayers and structures, it's been an amazing experience.
Amen! I was brought up as Catholic, but never knew what was going on I never knew JESUS CHRIST, until I hit the bottom line in life, and I spend more time thinking of the Lord jesus Christ.. I've been self studying bible and now this video clarify all of my question why catholic churches do this. Now I realised I've been taking the eucharist for granted and sinning without knowing.
The Lord is so patient with us and keeps inviting us to Himself. It sounds like He has been working powerfully in your life to bring you into a deeper relationship with Him! Keep saying YES to Jesus and following where He leads!
Brother in Christ, I cannot begin to thank you enough for this. I was catholic, transitioned to non denominational when I was 8, but once covid started I stopped going to church altogether. I didn't reject Jesus' teachings, nor did I ever lose my faith in God. in March of 2023, I was in Brussels and went to the church of St. Catherine, and felt the hands of Virgin Mary spiritually touch me. Never have I ever felt so connected to the faith until then. When I got home, I would make a point to walk in the wilderness, amongst Gods perfect creations. Unfortunately due to family and other things that came up, I stopped. However, in recent months I have begun to feel bouts of loneliness, and tomorrow, I returning to Catholicism for the sense of community and structure is something I need now more than ever. I pray for you, reader of this comment, and I pray for good health upon you and your family. God bless, amen.
I am considering converting to Catholicism. I hope to attend Mass soon. This video helps a lot by taking some of the mystery out of it. Thank you for the explanation of the different parts of the Mass.
@@avo.avocado There's no commitment when you attend your first Mass. They won't take your credit card, or ask for your email address. It's completely free!
I went to my first Christmas mass with my friend last night. I had always wanted to go to one. This was so helpful I wish I’d thought to look it up sooner. I come from another church but I didnt feel out of place at all. The history and tradition that’s present during mass is really fascinating. Kind of felt like coming home. Thank you for your insightful video.
This is wonderful to hear! Praise God you had a great experience at Mass, and that this video was helpful to you. Blessings to you on your journey with the Lord!
@@RisenChristDenver Hi Father! Thanks for the wonderful explanation! My parish priest says "May the body and bloody of Jesus brings you everlasting life" after the Epiclesis. I am not sure if this is said in Masses in the USA. I don't think its mentioned in your video. I thought its important to mention that this coincides with John 6:54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. Thus Catholics need to attend Sunday Mass to hear the Word of God (Liturgy of the Word) and to consume His true presence (Liturgy of the Eucharist) to inherit everlasting life. The Jews in the OT ate the unblemished lamb so that their first born is spared biological death, we eat the Unblemished Lamb of God to be spared spiritual death = inherit eternal life in our Promised Land - Heaven. Thanks !
Thank you Father. As a long term Protestant of various denominations, I rejoice in being called to the RCC. I hope this video gets thousands of RCIA students to watch.
This video was very helpful!! We chose to put our 7 year old in Catholic School a few years ago and we love that she attends Mass every Thursday.. Today, she had a small speaking role.. Nothing but God’s grace allowed me to make Mass this morning after driving 87 miles from working a twelve hour shift.. Her dad was there but I arrived 2 mins late at the end of the first prayer…. I decided to slip onto the 3rd row from the back to be less disruptive instead of taking the seat further up with her father. .. As God would have it I quickly realized I’d taken a seat behind the most devout elderly couple because they made their voices known proudly from the back of the church…At first, I felt tense and insecure.. But Let me tell you what moved me to tears.. When it came time to kneel the wife was tall and obviously could no longer kneel without discomfort.. Instead she squatted as low as she could and positioned herself awkwardly between the pew.. Without any signal almost unnoticeably, the husband pulled his bench to kneel beside his wife and THEN he reached under the front of my Pew and silently pulled my bench out to kneel.. I’d never even noticed the meticulously placed apparatus in front of me.. I fell to my knees when I realized the kind gesture the couple had shown me and I thanked God… I had the perfect example sitting right in front of me.. They drew no attention to me and smiled to me often throughout the service… I see why my 7 year old says she’s part Catholic now.. Maybe one day she’ll come to us and ask to be Baptized in front of her class.. Who can resist the will of God 🙏…
This REALLY helped me understand. I confess that I was just going through the motions. Now I am so much more aware about the details. It makes me appreciate it so much more. I want to watch it again because my fiance was snoring loudly.

Anyone else noticed that besides the clue “dickhead” another clue is testicles and breast the same shape and they both give out white liquid, and breast with human face lips alone look like a penis…is that what we symbolize?! I guess that’s a part of Gods creation…
Why are here? Who handed you the dictionary of life? What is guaranteed in this life? The next is proved once you get there and too late that tuned. Read Revelation 12 and research Marian apparitions. Then you owe Him more.
I've been a catholic my whole life, and stopped going to mass when I started college. Just recently I decided to go again to thank God every single day for the great blessings He gives us every day. This video helped me a lot in remembering why hearing mass is so important. Thank you for this Father Scott. Have a blessed week.
Thank you for this. I am Mormon and got invited to Mass this week. I have been really anxious about doing the wrong thing and this really soothed my turmoil.
I feel🙏👍👍👍 blessed to have come upon this video.. What a gifted priest. An open and excellent presentation of the catholic mass for anyone to understand and appreciate .. Bravo
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Currently in RCIA and I swear, if I had found this video earlier, my earlier mass attendances would've been more enjoyable.
This was so helpful as I’m about to start my conversion to Catholicism. I’ve attended mass twice now with my girlfriend and she’s Catholic and I really didn’t understand what was happening and it was a little overwhelming but this gives me more confidence in attending by myself

What an awesome video. This was a reminder to me to keep on loving God, I love the communion as Catholics as we praise together. Peace and blessings to all!
Thank you so much for this! I am just finding my way back to the church after many years of absence. A lot has changed since the masses I grew up with. Some responses have changed. By rote, I still respond, "And also with you" when the priest says, "The Lord be with you". I have no idea when or why it changed to, "And with your spirit". I feel so fortunate to have had the deep roots of the church in my childhood. I am loving being back! 💕
NAtional bishop conferences may translate the ordinary differently from country to country. But the original latin it says: "Dominus vobiscum", "et cum spiritu tuo", which literaly translate to: "The Lord is with you", "and with your spirit".
Thank you for this presentation Father. Having been raised in the Catholic faith I only wish to have been taught as with this video. For whatever reason I'd turned from the church to pentecostal for many years. At 63 my heart has been stirred to the faith and though a part of me feels saddened to have 'lost so many years inwhich I could have grown in the Lord within the covering, I acknowledge that God has called me unto the truth and that is what I am to focus on rather than the years gone by. Thank you Father. I am starting from scratch as to the Catholic faith. God bless you. Sally Boismier
Thank you. I am an adult who grew up in a family who gave me a chance to have a relationship with God, however they are not devout themselves. I go to mass and at times wish I had better understanding. This video helps me.

@@robertadams5472 very good question! A thorough reading of the Bible will show that Jesus talks about hell and condemnation and judgment a lot, and God in the Old Testament frequently talks about his love and care for his people as their father and even husband. It's not as cut and dry as some people claim, as if God was only angry in the Old Testament but he's only a God of love in the New. I realized in trying to teach my daughter that there were many things I forgot, that have changed, or that I simply did not know. This was very informative, thank you.

Thankyou so much for sharing this i got so much out of even the first few minutes of this video. I am a non catholic who is just learning about the catholic faith i went to a catholic school many years ago and I can honestly say there hasn’t been a time where I felt as close to God as I did when I was attending mass every day and praying I did not participate in the Eucharist part of the services as a non catholic but when I could I attended confession too. I am seeking to draw closer to God again and hopefully in future become a member of the catholic church. I was baptised in a non trinitarian church when I was 18 following my father’s death non of my family are religious but I felt that I needed to believe there was more to life than just being born, living and dying. So I was reintroduced to the idea of God through the church I was attending and reading the scriptures but I believe with all my heart that after much prayer and reflection the trinity is true and so I decided to commit to going to a church that teaches the truth about God. On the 1st January I attended my first catholic mass since I was 15, I was confused with what was going on but I was immediately welcomed into the church and was asked to stick around for a chat afterwards this put my anxiety at ease and I really felt this sense of being welcomed into the church family and after chatting for a bit I told them I’m in a choir at my local university and they asked me if I’d like to join the choir to which I said absolutely! I’d love to serve God in any way I can as I learn more and I’m very grateful that I’m not alone on this journey. I am meeting with a fr in my local parish in a few weeks to discuss more and ask about the RCIA.
Thank you for sharing this with us! Praise God that you are growing in your faith and that the Lord is leading you towards the Catholic Church. Blessings to you as you seek the Lord and let Him seek you!

Praise God that you're on this journey! It's okay to go to mass even when you don't know much about it yet! The pews will probably have hymnal books and most hymnals have a section with many of the prayers so that you can follow along.
@@RisenChristDenver I started RCIA as well. forgot to mention that. so im fully committed to be confirmed
That's wonderful! May God bless you on this faith journey into the Catholic Church!
@@TheDirtysouth276Welcome home!
I was raised Catholic and I went to 8 years of parochial school. No one ever explained the mass like this for me. I am now married to a non denominational pastor, but miss the Catholic Church. The reverence is beautiful. Thank you for this.
I'm glad to hear that this video was helpful for you. I will keep you in my prayers!
@@iNdUsTrIaLrOcKeR4UInteresting. How do you know that Communion lasts 15 mins? How do we know?
I went to a Catholic school and I really don't remember being explained like that lol
Every Catholic should hear this. Every Christian should hear this to help them understand our Catholic faith. Thank so much!
We're so glad you went back to Mass! May the Lord continue to give you the graces you need to follow him!
Wow, this is great to hear! You're responding well to the Lord's invitation. Blessings to you!
I was baptized catholic but i havent been to mass since 2011! Im going tomorrow as a 17 year old and i'm so nervous!
This is wonderful news! Congratulations to Fr. Ian. It will be great for you to go to support him - and to grow closer to our Lord!
The Latin Vulgate, the Holy Bible translated to Latin, came into being by the works of St. Jerome by the beginnings of the 5th Century. There were no other supposed Christian denominations at that time.

I’m returning to my faith and never had such a detailed explanation of the holy mass. This makes me appreciate it even more and how beautiful it truly is. Every move, every single action has a reasoning.
Wonderful! We're glad you found it helpful! Blessings to you on your journey!
Beautiful ❤
Welcome!!!!!!!🙏❤️

@Jill Winkler
Jill,
My dear, you are totally right.
God bless.
Is praying to angels blasphemy? I'm protestant but plan on attending a catholic mass tomorrow, hence why I'm here. Everything looked ok with me until the last part where a prayer to the arc angel was mentioned, prompting me to ask the above questions. I've always known prayer to be something meant for the father and only he alone. This article has stated the following and I'd like to know the opinion of you or whoever read's this;
"1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells the believer to pray without ceasing.
I'm a Baptist but curious about converting over to Catholic. This is very informative and answers alot of my questions. Thank you for this video.
All of that is wonderful to hear! We are glad that you found this video helpful. Many blessings to you on your journey as you strive to follow the Lord wherever He leads!

I hope you joined RCIA for your formation and entered into the Catholic faith.
The beauty of the Roman Catholic church is that mass is universal. Am east African and was born Catholic. Mass is very much the same. I feel at home attending mass anywhere.thank you for explaining the Nicene/ apostolic creed
Yes it is amazing to be able to attend mass anywhere and know it's the same (even the same readings!). Glad you found this helpful. Blessings to you!
No one is born Catholic. That happens when you are baptised.
It's Catholic ... Not Roman Catholic.
Roman Catholics live in the diocese of Rome only.
I found my faith in christ about six months ago and I've been going to my local catholic church for the past couple of weeks. The tradition is beautiful and fascinating. Although I'm still learning the prayers and structures, it's been an amazing experience.
Wonderful! We're so glad that you've found the Lord and that you're exploring the Catholic Church! Blessings to you in this holy season!
Praise God! The Lord is guiding you and you're following Him! We pray that you have a fruitful experience of Mass this weekend!
I'm a new convert, and I'm trying to learn all this stuff. I'm reading about the tradition, and it all makes sense.

I thought its important to mention that this coincides with John 6:54
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.
Thanks !

It's great to have you back! Congratulations!

Praise God that you're listening to the Lord and that you're returning to the Church! Blessings to you!

For the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit as I prepare for the talk about the Liturgy of the Word to be shared for the Lectors and Commentators in our Vicariate. 😊🙏 Throgh the grace of God, I may accomplish my task effectively and for the intended audience to have a deeper knowledge and understanding of the Liturgy of the Word for the glory of God. 😊🙏🙌
I'm so thankful for this video. It appeared in my feed just 2 hours before attending mass for the first time. I am a pentecostal protestant but feel the call to attend Catholic mass. Can't really explain why I feel the need other than being prompted by the Holy Spirit. Your prayers throughout this process are very welcomed. God Bless.
Wow - sounds like God's providence! We hope that your first experience of Mass was a fruitful one. We will certainly pray for you on your journey! If we can be of any support to you in that process, please let us know!
@@RisenChristDenver It was a wonderful experience, thank you. I have gone back a second time and will begin attending OCIA at the parish. Thanks again for your video - it really made a difference. God Bless!

The best explanation I have seen yet. Thank you very much.
Thank you for giving a careful and well detailed parts and phases of a Catholic mass. I never knew the importance of certain actions or responses or why it should be done during a mass until today. It gave me a profound and a more deep understanding on why hearing a mass is important. God bless you in doing this. I hope youtube was existing in the 90's so many would have learned about this. 🙏🙏

Your presentation shone with such a love for Jesus Christ, and a joy for the Mass. it was a delight and inspirational to learn more, and more about the Mass so I can ponder and pray over all the details and their individual significances.

Wow! That's wonderful! We're glad you found it helpful and used it for class!
I've been attending Mass with my mother who's reconnecting with her Catholic faith. I wasn't raised religious, and I'm not sure I'm ready for the committment yet, but it's beautiful to see people in my community come together peacefully for once. Even for a non-Catholic, Mass heals the soul.
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing that
I'm in RCIA....this was very helpful. I feel kinda lost at mass ...

Very good job Fr. Scott
Just found this as I searched for a video explaining the Mass for a person looking to join the church. So cool! I was a member of the youth group there in the early 70s and played guitar for Mass. my oldest daughter was baptized there and my parents’ funeral Masses were there. Thanks for doing these! I look forward to checking out more of your videos.
We are so glad you found us and could reconnect with this parish! Blessings to you!
Thank you so much for the clarifications. May God give you long life and good health.
