Women can’t preach according to the Bible
Not as long as you have an image of Pope Francis the Heretic and supporter of leftist mass murder sitting on your table.
I just canceled my subscription
. I won’t support-Not when Patreon posts articles by MoveOn (George Soros Marxist organization.)Asked to sign petition to fire conservatives who believe the election was stolen-which it was-mountains of evidence the power structure is ignorant burying. This election was pure criminal by the Left-will the truth ever be brought to light? Probably not as Leftist Democrats NEVER have to pay for their crimes. Until they meet God, that is.
@@m-hayek1985 women can’t preach at Mass. there are plenty of great female apologist speakers. Women give wonderful talks at conferences and training, etc. I’ve learned a lot from women speakers, but still don’t want them preaching at Mass or any other “ priest domain.”
I constantly point out girls/women in scanty clothes and tell my grandsons NEVER DATE A GIRL WHO DRESSES LIKE THAT🤦🏼♀️
My mother said to all 5 of us, "You are going to see a king, you should dress like you are going to see a King, Jesus Our Lord."
What if your very poor. 👀
I agree, some of the shorts and clothes are disrespectful!
@@mariawren2489We were very poor with 6 siblings but we had our Sunday best and were bathed and combed and looked neat.
@@mariawren2489 means dress modestly and clean clothes.
I have heard , "What if Jesus comes back while you are at church?"
About leaving early: my mom used to say if you were invited to someone’s house for dinner, you wouldn’t get up and leave as soon as you finished the meal so don’t leave God’s house as soon as you’ve eaten
Judas was the first to leave early from the Holy Sacrifice and he went out and hung himself after realizing the gravity of his sin!
Your mom gets it!!!
Put one Deacons at per door, to assist early leavers, 'to leave in in a holy manner'.
Or getting there late!
@@tlockerk Guarding the door, as in a prison? Thats a disgusting analogy.
Once you walk into church there should be NO talking before and after mass until your outside. Aloud others to be able to pray until they are finished.
I was at a Franciscans monastery
It was a full crowd The priest barely dips the host into the blood chalice. Everyone got the body and blood. The priest was the only person touching the host/blood
@@user-wf7ch1km5s - intinction is not aloud in some dioceses.
I would like to apologise to all these perfect Mass goers for us fallible Massgoers who may be dealing with, for example elderly parents who ring us as we are about to leave to go to Mass in a state because they have mixed up their tablets. Or for us lonely people who don't see anyone except at Mass- sorry if we like a minutes saying hello to people ehen we walk in. And those of us who haven't got much in the way of "best Church clothes". Sorry we aren't all perfect for you really GOOD Catholics!
@@iainwilson6790
People who come to church dressed like they’re going to the beach in shorts and flip flops or girls wearing low cut dresses that are really short should not be allowed. I’ve seen that many times.
I heard leaving before the final blessing was a venial sin. True?
I went to a Lutheran church for my fiancé's niece's baptism, and they still use the Communion rail. I have seen a couple of Catholic churches do the same. I think it would be nice to bring back the Communion rail in more Catholic churches. 🥰
The Lutherans got that idea from the Catholic Church not the other way around…
@@RosanetteRodriguez-eq1kz , where did I say that Catholics got it from Lutherans? I literally said "it would be nice to bring BACK the Communion rail in more CATHOLIC Churches. I don't think I implied that we got it from them. Lutherans came from Catholics. I'm well aware that we gave them many of their traditions.

We need the communion rails
Just to say Jesus is not sacramentaly present there at that Lutheran church in thw Holy Eucharist. Please inform your family. I in no way mean to offend
I think the number one thing is to move the tabernacle back to the center of the Church behind the altar. That is where the Lord truly belongs.
Deplorable, YES! YES! YES!
I think it’s disrespectful put the tabernacle to. The side put the tabernacle back in the center!
Why do you think it was moved to the side? I've been to 3 churches where it's off to the side, but its placement is part of the setup for the adoration chapel.
Yes, that is deplorable. I’ve made a comment about this to the pastors of three different Catholic Churches. I was visiting my daughter in Northern California and every church I went to had the same thing. The tabernacles were all on the side. One of the priests I talked to was a visiting bishop. This is how he responded to my comment. He said, but during mass we bring Jesus on the table. And I said, this is His house bishop and He belongs in the center of His house at all times, meaning literally and symbolically. Before I left I told him, I’m sorry bishop but what you said is not convincing to me.
And I started praying about it everyday.
In a matter of 5-6 months when I went back to visit my daughter and I went to the same churches I was stunned to see the tabernacles of these churches were moved to the center.... 🤭🙏😋
@@mike-cc3dd exactly. that's how my parish is, an adoration chapel to the side
This is a really unpopular opinion for some, but I’m a firm believer in stop holding and raising our hands during the Our Father
I agree, it is liturgically inappropriate. Drives me nuts.
And holding hands.
@@angelaosborn6722 Right, because in Heaven everyone is going to stand at least six feet apart and not acknowledge each other, so we best prepare appropriately.
I hate holding hands with strangers period and I’m so glad it’s not done during TLM
Yuck
Clapping is one that always reminds me of my Grandma. Anytime they'd start clapping she'd lean in to my Mum and ask (in Lithuanian) "what is this, a circus?" 😆 🎪
As a Polish Catholic I understand the humor and relate since I grew up in Poland but living abroad in South America where people clap at every mass while singing I have to say there is a place for it when you’re praising God. Cultural differences.
@@magorzatasanchez736kk
The choir is not there to entertain us they are there to bring the congregation together in song, when we sing we are praying twice, it is not a concert, your grandma is right.
Clapping in church? Bad. What's worse, the cathedral was built by selling indulgences.(sin).
The pope is not your father. That's only the beginning of errors.
😅😅@@magorzatasanchez736
As per leaving mass early! A beloved priest once was very disturbed about the heightened instance of this in the parish. So, he began his homily one Sunday, asking parishioners if they could "talk" for a moment. He began with this question: "How many of you here today have ever cheated on your spouse?" Of COURSE no hands were raised. He asked again, highlighting how in this particular church, everyone was considered "family". Still no hands were raised. He thought for a moment and offered THIS: "Those of you who have been unfaithful, may leave mass early this morning!" Needless to say, at the end of mass, no one moved! 😉
Phenomenal. Love it
That is brilliant! 🤣
@@stingingnettle9726exactly...i would not attend that church again after that.
LOL, I bet some were lying and stayed to avoid being caught publicly, so I should not laugh! Just ask them to be respectful and stay until the end!
@@isantiago1355 I grew up with my older siblings in soccer jerseys at church because there was a game. We left right after communion many times to make the game. This priest is an ass in my opinion.
The nuns in my school taught us to pray with our hands together, fingers extended pointing to heaven & thumbs crossed. This was throughout the Holy Mass. No visiting with friends, etc. before or afterwards. No one leaves until the priest leaves, & the choir is done singing. We are there to worship
Our Lord and give thanks & praise for all He has given us.
The "choir" (it's more like a band) at the chapel across the street makes me want to run away instead 😞
I wish we still had those beautiful nuns in Catholic schools.
Which just only serves to underline the preposterous and totally Man made fabrication that ALL religion is😂😂😂 I cannot BELIEVE that anyone is deluded by this utter medieval nonsense these days - ludicrous!
I believe that parents should be able to teach their children how to dress for Mass, no one had to tell😢 me how to dress for Mass. We all know that Mass is Holy and commen sense tell you that it should be respected. I was away from church for many many years, but when I came back I knew that the house of GOD is a holy place and respect is in order. I just think some people think that going to church is enough, but you MUST dress appropriately. Respect has been lost in many ways and I wish and pray to GOD, that it finds its way back, starting at home!!!
One shouldn't be waiting for the choir to finish. ALL should be singing!
1 more thing that i would change is bursting into song right after communion. When we are in the most personal space with Jesus. Soft music is ok. But i need time in prayer.
ABSOLUTELY!!!
YES!!
Absolutely! The devil HATES silence
Absolutely!
Hymns are prayers.
Here at UST in the Philippines (Santisimo Rosario Parish) there is a sign that reminds the faithful to refrain from clapping after Mass. I commend them for upholding the reverence for our Lord.
I am a revert after 40 years away from the church. One of the things I couldn't understand in the other churches I attended was the lack of reverence for being in Communion with Jesus. After returning to my roots, I needed to learn about the Euchrist, and what I found has touched my soul at every Mass. I believe I feel when the Holy Spirit changes that host. Many times, it puts me in tears. At first, taking the Host ny tongue felt better, but I felt the need to show my reverence by keeling with or without a kneeler. I am an Eucharistic Minister, and I question if I should be administering this sacrament. I am in awe and truly believe in His presence. I wish we would kneel at the altar in our church, but I will do what I feel led to as long as I am physically abke. 🎉
My top 3 are : being on cell phone, leaving after communion, immodest dressing.
We must have failed to teach our younger Catholics what modesty is. I have seen young ladies wearing halter tops and tube top dresses while wearing a veil. It makes no sense.
Clapping and talking before during and after
@YAJUN YUAN
Are you one of those lukewarm Catholics?
Immodest dress is so out of place. Girls in tight shirts , t strap tops, tight short dresses. Men in shorts and flip flops . Im a sinner so I dont want to judge but I feel for me I want to look respectful for our priest , congregation and Jesus. All the saints and angels are there also , we just don't see them
Yes
My old priest used to say there were 3 separate blessings after communion and the end of Mass.
He used to say, “I’m not sure about you, but I can use every blessing I can get.”
Before I became a catholic, I was at church, and the pastor told the congregation to remember to turn their ringer off, and if they needed help, ask the nearest 10 year old.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
German Nazis have infiltrated church Pope Benedict was one...10 is German Nazi age of accountability...likely was boasting to Nazi attendees they can count on him for their war movement.
I’m an old-fashioned Catholic and agree with all that you said. I loved the old Mass and grieve over some of the changes that came after Vat. 2. Blessings.
Find a Latin Mass
At 89 years old I will never get used to hearing Bongos,Drums and Guitars during Mass. Organ music is what I like to hear.
So do I and my parish of St. Joseph does and have an organ and that is played and there is also a grand piano and I'm not sure if it is acceptable
That’s one of the reason me and my family go to Traditional Latin Mass we love that organ sacred music.🙏❤️🙏
@@mariahmartinez3900 I also attend the Latin Mass. No altar girls, communion received at communion rail on your knees and only on the tongue, communion only distributed by priest, confession prior to mass, etc. Very beautiful!
@@carolstefan7662 Those Masses are like HAVEN on EARTH!!❤️
Organs were also not used in traditional masses. It used to be chant.
The Greeting of Peace and holding hands during the Our Father again make the focus horizontal and not vertical. Get rid of both.
The sign of peace is recognizing our Christian unity and commitment to one another. Jesus said "peace, my peace I give you." We just echo his words. However, the orans position (hands out with palms up) is not prescribed when praying the Our Father. Hands folded in prayer is the only proper position. Check the Rubrics. It spells out how to celebrate mass, there is adlibbing. FOLLOW THE RULES
@@georgemoomaw2244- I read somewhere recently that the act of holding your arms out with your palms up is only supposed to be done by the priest. God bless!
Well said😊
Holding hands during the Our Father has always been an annoyance to me.
There's nothing that says you should or shouldn't. I grew up with this method. Holding hands brings the community even closer together uniting in prayer. Personally, I get a little miffed when someone doesn't want to hold hands because again it's about coming together in prayer not standing apart.
I think holding hands during the “Our Father” is Jesus’ Church standing firmly together. We are His family.
It’s unsanitary and grosses me out in context and physically.
@@susanhoneycutt5610 not exactly something you need to worry about when coming together to pray to our Lord.
@@bobalooloo02 it is a concern with cancer treatments and auto immune diseases; yet I get your point.
I went to another church due to being late for my own church's only Sunday mass. The entire church was socializing in the church before mass. I was so distracted by their talking, I moved. While I was kneeling and visibly praying, another group walked in and sat in front of me and started talking. I prayed that God would help me to ignore them and to be able to focus on Him.
I agree. I went to a church in my friend’s town. There were three women yapping away before Mass in the very front row. I went up and reminded them they were in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. My friend whispered that one of the women was the deacon’s wife!!
Twelve years ago I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. My symptoms worsened over the next few months, and there were times after my release from the hospital that I had to leave Mass early. The worst was when I had to leave after the eucharistic prayer and missed communion. My symptoms have been under control for several years now. Please be considerate that someone may have no choice but to leave Mass at times, including near the end. I know I am not the only one with the only reason, so my sympathies for others who have to make this hard choice. God bless us everyone.
I also have urinary issues and there are times that I have to get up and take care of a medical issue.
So true, some people can be very critical and judgemental. Bless you.
Yes, that's something we need to consider out of charity. Not leaving Mass when urgent symptoms flare up can be disastrous, and much more embarrassing than leaving when the need arises. It's actually more considerate to leave than not to leave under those circumstances, and we should be thankful for those who are respectful enough to do so. We should also pray for them -- those kinds of physical conditions are miserable and often hard to control. I wouldn't wish it on anyone!
@@jrnfw4060 Thank you for understanding.
The conversation about people leaving early isn't meant for those who have emergencies but for those who make a practice of running out every time they attend.
I went to Mass for many years and every time someone's cell phone would ring, every time. Now I go to Latin Mass and have never heard a cell phone since. There is much more reverence in the LM.
yes! Amen
What our church does before Mass when they make the announcement before the celebrant comes in they tell people to please turn off their cell phones and no texting during mass that seems to work quite well just a suggestion that you could offer to your prieststo say
Amen
Amen!
Some of these things like the sign of peace and holding hands during the Our Father are really hard for introverts. It can produce dread in them. Extroverts love these practices.
Exactly.. thank GOD for the TLM
Not a matter of introversion or extroversion- the sign of peace breaks the solemnity of the mass at the worst possible time. I see people chattering, fist bumping, high fiving, and getting further away from the meaning of mass.
I'm an introvert, but I appreciate that, properly understood, the liturgical sign is truly a good thing, one that I've come to appreciate and even look forward to at Mass. It is a sign of unity, Christ asking all to give and receive, reconcile and offer his perfect Peace before receiving his gift of himself. Additionally we pray the OUR Father. Christ asks the introvert to stretch himself this one tiny bit.
You will be at peace at the Traditional Latin Mass. None of that nonsense!
@@saintsamaritan I go to a Tridentine parish so we are lucky to practiice the old Traditions. When I used to go to new age Mass I refused to shake or hold hands. Instead I would just smile with my hands folded and say .....May GOD bless you !
I am an introvert.
I find that once our children have made their Confirmation they feel that they no longer need to go to Mass. I made my children go to Mass as long as they lived at home. When I received religious instructions up to Confirmation I had to continue all through High School ! This is where I learned more of the Catholic Faith and made me want to reachout for more information.
Complete silence as soon as we receive communion. We want to be with HIM !
No talking in church before mass and after . Wait till you get outside
@@ral3190 Two elderly women sitting two rows behind me talked and laughed constantly before mass, so I couldn't concentrate on my absolution or saying the Divine Mercy chaplet, which I like to say before mass.
The nuns told us in Catholic school it was a sin to talk in church. One church I went to had a sign saying no talking, to show consideration for people who were praying.
The one time people clapped at my parish was when our priest rightfully called out our supposedly Catholic governor for supporting abortion. Yes, I know it isn’t necessarily right to clap but so many priests are afraid to call out evil and hypocrisy when they see it.
Who are you with when the Cantor is singing ?
I wish they respected the silent times in the mass, especially the choirs: stop singing without any silent time for quiet reflection after communion.
The communion song is suppose to help you reflect on the meaning of the bread and wine.
@@sterp8 yea but I find it particularly distracting. I prefer silence.
I can't stand having no quiet time to pray, even say my absolution.
Amen to THAT! I've been complaining about this for years!
@@sterp8 It just distracts me. I need quiet to pray.
At the risk of suffering abuse for saying this, imma say it anyway: The TLM would do away with all these things. We artended the Novus Ordo Mass faithfully right up until about 3 years ago, when we finally began attending the TLM. So many of the things that had begun to bother us more and more are now just no longer there to bother us. Everything in the TLM directs one's mind and soul towards the contemplation of God.
Hundred percent, this!!! It's frustrating to me that our Pope wants to limit the practice of the TLM.
Absolutely! The Novus Ordo is jarring to one's sense of faith when you have to go back to it on occasion. I can no longer cope with the utter disrespect of Our Lord found in the vast majority of NO Masses.
@@Climbing_Carmel_TODC that shows a problem on you if you think the problem is the ordinary form that you want to go back to a lack of readings, and think that liturgical problems didn't exist before the 60s.
Thank you for this. In my experience traveling all over the country and attending Mass, the worst offenders are the elder “leaders” of the church. I recently was chased out of the sanctuary for politely asking a man TWICE to please take his (very loud) conversation to the vestibule out of respect for Our Lord and those communing with him. He literally chased me out to chastise me and tell me how dare I disrespect him. We have a miracle every single day at the Mass and if people acted as if we did, young people like myself would not be leaving the church.
That is terrible! Does he think the church is his own personal playground 🙄
@@BigOldCatholic I don't think he liked a young woman alerting him to the truth when he is supposed to be leading. And as a woman who has experienced sexual assault multiple times, this experience was terrifying for me.
As an Anglican convert, I have always felt that the place where the Peace is nestled is a distraction. I would prefer for it to be taken out of the Mass completely, or in between the Liturgy of the Word and of the Eucharist around the offertory. Same thing for the announcements. There is hardly any time for thanksgiving and silent adoration of the True Presence before Joe walks into the Sanctuary and tells everyone about the pot luck.
Go to the traditional Latin Mass
Kneeling during the Our Father and do not do not Shake Hands
Our pastor has been eliminating it altogether and it's such a relief.
Grace Brown - yes!
Lol
I don’t go to Mass to talk to the people in my pew. I remember as a child being told you are here because you were invited to the house of the Lord this hour is for you to converse with him!! I can’t tell you how many times (I always arrive early to light candles and pray) and I have started the Hail Mary over and over because the people there are speaking nonstop in their regular street voice. Be respectful for those around you!! I miss the pomp and circumstance I miss the respect, the quiet, the peaceful, and the feeling of God’s presence! Sometimes I feel myself getting so angry about those around me that I feel guilty for that and I wonder sometimes why I even go! I want my time with Jesus to pray to ask for forgiveness to ask that he leads me and asked that I will recognize his voice telling me his plan.
When that happens to me I assume it's cause those people need my prayers
I could not agree more.
I agree. I’m starting to venture out and am going to start attending mass at pre Vatican 2 churches in my area. I want the old cathedral type of experience during mass. One thing about hearing all the chatter before mass though is that it allows me to pray for those people and their problems especially if they are complaining about their lives or even gossiping. I’ll just start praying for them. I get there early and while it’s quiet, I meditate and when it starts filling up with the talkers, I’ll start praying for them. Or the screaming, crying kids. I always pray for God to make them Saints.
I love that the priest here mentioned how he plays Gregorian chants before mass. That’s excellent!
Don’t worry. When we say the prayer in the beginning of mass…I confess to almighty God and to you my brothers and sisters that I have sinned through my own fault…it’s a prayer of confession and the priest adds to it afterwards and we are all forgiven of our sins. Unless we have grave sin. Then we need to go to confession for sure.
The first thing to drop is shaking hands - the peace be with you. I hated it when that was started 40+ years ago. It is unsanitary & who knows where those hands have been. I keep my hands in my pockets & nod. That's it. The hand shaking has to go. 🤢
I miss the Tridentine mass of my childhood. It was very solemn and the beautiful sacred music brought me to a higher place. I do believe there were more applicants for the priesthood and the convents because of that most Holy Mass.
Can you still attend a TLM? We travel 45 minutes in order to do so. I could never go back
@@Climbing_Carmel_TODC There’s a Tridentine Mass every Sunday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, about 15 minutes by car from my home.

I will say that I run out of time for my prayer after receiving Christ. I would like more time for prayer and reflection.
I agree on the time element. Consider staying after mass for a bit.
Then sit up front so you get the host very early and have lots of time to pray.
My Aunt received the Benemerenti medal from the Vatican for her support of my Uncle as a deacon(now retired). The priest asked if he could announce the award to the church. My Aunt refused to have that happen. Her reason was it would take away from the focus on Jesus! God rest her soul!
I am so thankful that the sign of peace got brought up because I think it is so disruptive at a time in the mass when it should be more prayerful.
Playing music after receiving communion is a distraction and not giving enough time to pray silently after receiving our Lord....where is that one?
I dont like singing during communion. Sometimes a quiet piano piece is played and that is beautiful.
If you've got distracted when praying, then you're not praying well. Don't criticized the choirs singing in communion. They're singing for the congregations who queueing and receiving the communion. Communion hymns are part of the mass.
They continue to play the same hymn we sang as we took Eucharist. I can’t say I never get distracted from my prayer, but not always. I’d rather have that song in my head than whatever my husband played on his radio start running through my head as I’m trying to pray.
I am with you there.
Hymns during mass coincide with movement of multiple people. Processing, presentation of gifts, communion and recession. It's to help cover the distraction of the noise made by this shuffling around. As a music minister, I do respect the desire of the parishioners to pray after receiving the Holy Eucharist. More meditative hymns should be sung during this time. The purpose of the ministry is to enrich the mass not be a distraction. The Holy Bible does multiply reference God wanting us to worship Him in song but reverence in musical selections is important as well.
When I used to complain about a boring homily my Mama would say “the number one reason you are at Mass is to receive Jesus”. As an adult I pray before and sometimes during the homily for the Holy Spirit to fill the Priest or Deacon with HIS message. Even if it only touches one person that needs it the most. When we believe in the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist we receive everything we need during Mass! 🙏🏻
Yes, it's true about Jesus in the Eucharist but the Word of God is of EQUAL importance. Shouldn't we want to understand His Word and the unpacking of the Gospel message and all readings.
Jennifer C RN yes the word is important too but learning the bible can be done in classes at church. I love a great homily like everybody else but I am there for the liturgy. I pray for the Holy Spirit to speak thru the Priest to those that need it most right before and during the homily.
Not true.
Respectfully disagree with the statement that the reason we go to mass is to receive Jesus.(i.e. Eucharist). The reason we go to Mass is to worship God on high through the highest form available to human beings provided to us by Christ's Sacrifice. We enter into that sacrifice to worship Almighty God. Receiving the body, blood, soul and divinity of our Lord to be nourished is the second reason.(provided we are in a state of grace)
Watched alot of these videos for my first mass today. What did I see? Tight leggings with small tops on women, jeans on men and women, super casual, no one sang at all even though it was offered, people came in late and loud, a couple of people came in late only in time for communion. I'm glad that his Holiness, the Pope wasn't there incognito as a secret parishioner, because I think he would have been disappointed in the lackluster of the congregation. Thank goodness for the woman I shared a pew with in the back. She was happy to see me, offered herself as my mentor, helped me through the mass. She was a true angel and I will be happy to see her next Sunday.
My sisters and I were baptized, made our first Confession ( Penance), our First Communion, and our Confirmation under Vatican 1. Our maternal grandfather was Lutheran when he married my very devout Catholic maternal grandmother . They had to get married in the rectory and he promised any children would be raised Roman Catholic. My grandfather did free plumbing as a master plumber for the church, the rectory, and the convent. He was generous with the priests and the nuns. He became a Catholic on their 25th Wedding Anniversary. My Roman Catholic mother also married a Protestant man whose family were very involved in their church. My father and my mother were married in the Catholic Church outside of the rail. My father had to promise to raise all of the children as Catholics. I remember watching the sorry amount entire families gave in the offering basket when I was very young. Each one of us children put more in collection as toddlers. My father impressed us how much we should be supporting our church since we were young, because he came from a Protestant Church. We went to Catechism every Friday afternoon of our entire childhood. Our parish's priests would drive buses across the road to our country elementary school to pick up the Catholic students for Catechism for the entire afternoon , broken up into ages groups, and we were prepared for making our sacraments. I used to read our huge Douay Rheims Bible cover to cover as a child.
I actually went to both a Protestant Church and a non - denominational church for Bible studies , in order to learn the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. I go to a very traditional Roman Catholic Church for the Ordinariate Mass. The only thing that I believe the Roman Catholic Church lacks : they don't teach the entire Bible cover to cover. Why don't they don't offer Bible Study.?
I don't like holding hands during the Our Father! I fold my hands in prayer and look at the Cross! Period!
Me too.
Hands in prayer, head down, eyes closed.
Ignore everyone else!
I remember coming back to Mass after having cancer and a young man next to be steadfastly refused to acknowledge me or shake hands during the Sign of Peace. So that was welcoming 😂.
It’s not kindergarten. Stop shaking hands, holding hands...in fact, get out of the Novus Ordo entirely! Get to a Traditional Latin Mass. Reclaim your birthright!
@@marilynrose7318 greeting another person and asking God to bless them with peace is part of all traditional Catholic cultures. In the Irish and German languages for example that is how you normally greet another person. Same for the Jewish people, same for Jesus. This is an acknowledged part of the Mass, reaffirmed by JP II and Benedict XVI. I will take my teaching from the Magisterium. May the peace of Christ be with you.

but just for fun, since the ORTHODOX Churches can trace their heritage back to the APOSTLE who founded them, go attend a Greek Orthodox Mass and see if THEY'VE put a "kiss of peace" into their service, because ALL OF A SUDDEN !!! after 2,000 years, they all of a sudden remembered that it was part of the Mass of the Early Church ??.....IT WAS NOT......and the Greek Church HAS NOT put a "kiss of peace" into the Mass.....nor have any of the OTHER 27 Orthodox Churches that can trace their ancestry back to the apostles.....and if you read Bella Dodd, and AA-1025, ok, and INFILTRATION, maybe you'll finally Get It.......

Growing up in the 70s, I became used to the traditions of kneeling at the Communion Rail, the Ringing of the Bells, both in the Bell Tower and during the Eucharistic Rite, being quiet prior to Mass starting, fasting 1 hour before Mass, going to Confession weekly, lighting REAL candles, dressing properly and respectfully (no jeans or gym shoes), waiting for the Priest and the Cross to leave at the end of Mass, before we left the pews, and all the other things you gentleman covered in this video. There is something to be said about tradition. There seemed to be more reverence for the Mass, and the fact that you are in God's House, back in the 70s. We have lost much of the traditions and reverence and it breaks my heart. Mass is just not the same.
Yes. The pope is trying to keep up with the times to get more young people into the church. I believe there’s a way to and still keep the traditions we grew up with.
Changing verbiage of important prayers is killing me! Now there's talk of changing the Lord's Prayer to remove "lead us not into temptation " to something else because Jesus doesn't lead people to temptation....how did that become a thing? All it means is to guide us from temptation and deliver us from evil. That needs to stop because I won't change how I pray !
@@juliemccauslin5807 nobody says you have to. I’m not doing it either. I prefer the traditional way. I prefer the old traditions to the new. I think we should go back to women covering their heads. Chatting before mass reminds me of people in a movie theatre waiting for the movie to start.
The two things that hurt me the most during Holy Mass are: the manner how women (young and old) wear provocative dresses inside the church AND people who start leaving the church after communion without waiting for the priest's final blessing.
I akso saw men entering the church during Holy Mass. Without saying, I approach them with respect and politely ask them to please take off their hats and thank them with a smile.
People leaving early before church is over. Also, one time I was in church and there was this family with two boys. The two boys were acting really immature such as laughing to making fun of the deaf interpreter. After mass, my sister went over to the mom and told her, but the mother didn’t do anything except defend her boys and how good they were. If you’re going to church, be respectful to God and other people praying.
according to the Church, it is actually a venial sin to talk in Church, and can become a MORTAL sin, if you, the talker, get pissed off at the person asking you to be quiet and respectful......I had one woman threaten to punch me in the face for asking her to be quiet and stop talking.......go figure.....
Amen! I’m in the choir and I’ve always believed in staying until the last song is finished! But people race out of there as soon as the procession ends. Very disrespectful. What’s the darn hurry?
where is you christian compassion? who knows what that mother is going through, or her boys. Ar least they were there. Keep your nose out unless you have walked in her shoes.
@@LisaGemini I once saw a priest put up a notice in big letters by the exit door of his church which said 'Judas also left early'.
Everyone in the congregation stayed till he left the sanctuary!

I say absolutely NOT.......I'm old enough that I've gone through several generations of young people becoming parents, and apparently, ones who have no clue as to how to conduct even THEMSELVES at Mass, let alone their children......I'm remembering one young man about 30 yrs old, who came running down the aisle and lept 2 ft up in the air and came landing down in front of a child, to apparently make the child laugh......and THIS was in a funeral Mass !!! and I'm sorry, but I certainly DID correct him after the service was over.......so maybe YOU'RE the one who needs to correct their thinking in this matter, NOT this young lady......and why in the world would you believe for one minute that this mother should have just let her children continue to mock the deaf interpreter ?!!! what ? do you think the interpreter didn't notice and feel bad ? maybe Holy Mass means nothing to you......maybe Holy Mass doesn't mean ENOUGH to these parents that let this go on........
As a former Protestant, I say don’t let anyone except the priest give the homily. The gift of preaching is not the gift of speaking. It is a faculty received at ordination and any priest who prepares by prayer and study will be used by the Holy Spirit even if they aren’t great speakers.
This ^^^
Also a deacon can preach
The deacon is fine too.
Amen!!!
Deacons are given that faculty as well. But I think only deacons that are properly formed should preach. We have too much watered down theology being preached as it is.
I used to Cantor for the Mass, then the clapping happened after the Mass. I spoke with the music director about it and how to get I to stop. It broke my heart when he said the priest was allowing for it,,as he felt it was praising God. It did not happen at every Mass, so I felt like it was turning the Mass into a concert. I left. I can no longer Cantor. There are so many things changing in the Mass, and disrespectful to our Lord Jesus Christ.
My husband and I both drifted away from practicing due to V2. When I attended my first Latin Mass and I heard the intonation of the old
Credo, I wept. I didn't stop for an hour.
My large parish in Cincinnati has reinstituted receiving kneeling at the altar rail and it moves very smoothly. It actually moves very well.
Imagine that, it was the standard since Trent, but somehow now it's a problem?
I am hoping and praying it leads to Tridentine Mass in the near future.
How large is your parish? And do the Communion Minister distribute at the rail as well?
Tristan Paul The parish is very large. Only priest gives out Communion at the rail along with deacon. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are used at the back of church where people still receive standing.
@@janeremillard4571 2 at the rail for about 500 people? How fast does it take?
I’m a musician (pianist) and I hate it when people clap after mass for us. Because as a musician, I do it to the glory of God and He’s the reason it sounds so good because he’s given me that talent anyway. It’s so uncomfortable. You can go up to a musician afterwards in private and tell him/her that their music helped you worship God better. That is always kind and loving and appreciated. To put it into perspective, If the music is world-class, but doesn’t help promote worship, then that defeats the whole purpose.
The man in the middle is so legalistic! Stop being so critical! Not everyone is a good homilist. Women played an important role in the early church.
I have the same difficulty in my church Julie 😕
Pianos were not allowed pre V2
Can we quit with the congregational singing? Catholic congregations cannot carry a tune in a bucket.
Your comment is helpful to those who may not understand that clapping is inappropriate. We always had a nun playing an organ in the balcony, but that was years ago. I am not familiar with the clapping phenomenon and appreciate your thoughts to those who may be new or unaware.
In the FSSP, they teach their seminarians, "In the Mass, everything matters." If we start acting like that, many of these problems would go away in no time at all.
I am a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul and people leave food and needfuls in the back of the church for the less fortunate.
The bells during mass, since ancient times let the congregation know: this is important!
The Tabernacle belongs on the High Altar! The Holy Mass is Christ Centered, not human centered!
Chris McWilliams Is the Tabernacle at your church not in the center? It doesn't seem right to me, ours is right in the center underneath the Crucifix of our Lord. I like it because you can see it from all over the church. That really should be the standard, our priests sit to the side, they aren't the focal point God is. We have bells too, I wonder if its only in certain parts of the country we see this. I live in N.C. our church is wonderful, and it has grown significantly. It helps we have wonderful priests. God Bless, I will continue to pray for all our Catholic Churches.
Our Tabernacle is centered on the High Altar right below the Crucifix as it should be in a Traditional Catholic Church.
Churches with the tabernacle in the center are rare. Vatican 2 changed it to the side slter
I like the bells, they've been rung for centuries. The standard seems to be one ring at the epiclesis, three rings during the elevation of body, and three rings during the elevation of blood.
Chris McWilliams I am coverting to Orthodox, the bells are run during Divine Liturgy. It is incredible!
"Renew your faith by attending Holy Mass. Keep your mind focused on the mystery that is unfolding before your eyes. In your mind’s eye transport yourself to Calvary and meditate on the Victim who offers Himself to Divine Justice, paying the price of your redemption.”

The sign of peace, I'm so happy to learn it's not just me. Why haven't we got back to shaking hands. It's unsettling to have the person next to me to lean away and give me the peace sign. It's not very peaceful
I started going to Mass again about a year ago after being away for decades. I showed up wearing a shirt, tie and a sport coat. I was a bit taken back by people showing up wearing flip-flops and shorts, men included. When I last attended Mass everyone dressed for it. I spoke with my friend about it later and she dismissed it, saying it was Florida and that was just the way things are down here. I still show up every week wearing my tie, even though there are only a couple gentlemen who wear suits and ties.
I don't judge but it is a bit disheartening. I figured if Jesus took the time to invite me to His banquet the least I can do is dress for supper. Like the man here said, if all you have are jeans and tee shirts, okay, better to attend than stay home because of some dress code. But if you have the ability to buy a shirt and tie, why not wear it. It sets an example for the young people. That is the thing. A lot of the kids who attend Mass dress in their school attire, and they look better than a lot of the adults.
Maybe I was just raised in a different time. When I was a kid, if a grown man showed up for Mass wearing sandals, shorts, and a tee shirt, he would have felt more than a few eyes wondering what his deal was. Call me a stick in the mud I guess. I'm easy to spot though. One of the ushers was telling another that I'm a regular at 11:30 Mass. She said I was easy to spot because I always sit near the front wearing my jacket and tie. I sit near the front because my eyes aren't what they used to be, but I dress appropriately because I was raised that way. I know a lot of the men in my parish were raised that way as well. I wish they would remember that.
It’s still exists if you go to a traditional Latin mass I just started going and it is a world of difference there’s even a dress code and everyone dresses up!!
I make it a point to dress up a bit for Mass, not to show off, but because I feel I should present myself in the best possible light before God. As one parishioner has pointed out, if you won't dress up for God, you won't dress up for anyone. That's a bit of a radical judgment, but I get her point. God loves us all, and He will love those who show up in jeans, T-shirts, flip-flops, etc., but I just feel, for myself, that I should give Him more. Also, I was raised in the 1950s, prior to Vatican II, and everyone dressed in their Sunday best for Mass, and I like to continue that tradition.
I see the same at my church in FL. I 100% agree with dressing appropriately for mass, not flip-flops, bare midriffs, shorts and the like. I know Jesus looks at the heart, not the clothing, but would these wearing casual clothes dress that way if they were going to the White House to meet the President? They're going to God's house to worship Him, so clean up and dress appropriately.
All through my childhood we had 'Sunday clothes' - which you changed out of straight after Mass - but at evening Masses in the Cathedral there were men coming in from shift work and far from 'smartly dressed' - but they were there - Jesus called them and they came - how could that be anything but what He wanted?
I remember my dad saying once, "If you were going to the President's house you'd wear your best clothes. You're going to God's house when you go to mass."
On a trip in France, the priest prepared his homily and it was printed in the bulletin,it saves people who are hard of hearing, accents that are hard to listen to etc I thought it was a great idea.
That's a good one. There may be more than just 15, anyway it's hard to put them all in order of importance but personally, taking communion not being in God's grace or having mortal sin is on top. The issue is, not all Catholics know if they're in mortal sin. And I somehow see too many especially the kids receiving the host as just part of the drill. Our church is not big on Bible Studies unlike the protestants and .most especially the born agains. The study of our faith is left to our discretions.
We had that in a church in Florida, the homily was printed out and handed out before mass an d the priest with african accent read it at homily.
What about chewing gum in church and then still chewing after communion
It's very sad to see how our Faith is being taken from us by our current Pope. The changes that are being made is not true Dogma
I am quite sure that when the person who opens the envelopes on Sunday gets to mine, he knows my circumstances. He knows that what I put in there was the best that I could do that week. I also put little prayer cards in there thanking them for another wonderful week of prayer And no one has complained to me yet and I doubt they ever Will. Quite frankly, I would feel as though I wasn’t doing my part if I wasn’t contributing something during the offertory, maybe it helps the priests make it helps the young seminarian’s. Maybe it goes to help a family that has just found themselves in the worst possible way in their life but whether you do it online or in the basket I think it’s very important that everyone contribute.
This was one of the best discussions of this ilk I’ve ever watched. I’m a “relaxed Catholic” but a lot of the things that were mentioned really rang true with me. If it has not been discussed already, I’d love to hear Father Pagano’s and the other two gentlemen’s thoughts about the Latin Mass and why it has become so verboten. I’m old enough to remember the Latin Mass from when I was a kid and I still prefer it. There were a few Catholic Churches here in NYC that had Latin Masses but sadly they have stopped. Why is Pope Francis so dead set against the Latin Mass? I used to attend one sometimes at St. Agnes on East 43rd Street and it was always packed - and I mean SRO. There’s obviously a preference for this type of Mass by some people and I don’t see the harm in it. For my money, it seems to be a more reverent Mass than the vernacular Masses now. Thoughts?
I’m with you. I prefer Latin masses but we are definitely in the minority. Besides, I don’t think seminarys teach Latin.
@@dmac7458 I don’t think they do either. When I used to go to a Latin Mass in NYC years ago, I found out that they had to bring the celebrant in every week from somewhere in New Jersey. I guess someplace there taught priests how to do the Latin Mass. I had two years of Latin in high school. Maybe some private schools still offer it as a subject. I hope so.
I got straight A’s in HS Latin because of our Latin Mass in the 50’s and 50’s
Yes, I agree that the tabernacle should be moved to the center of the altar of the church.
Our priest had a sign by the door “Judas left early”.
Ya know... I'm seriously tempted to do this on all exit points of my parish, myself... ;)
@Jake Tappert No. But that could easily be a difference of parishes. I tend to go to mass in the city so it's alot of childless people leaving before the mass is done.
@Jake Tappert I would certainly rather people make it to mass than not go at all. Even if that means leaving early or not dressing as nice as some would like. I'm not one to judge, just meerly pointing out that it's not just people with children leaving early.
@Jake Tappert ......NO.

Back when I was a child and a lot more Catholics were going to mass the priest was the only one to give communion, so why do we need all of the Eucharistic Ministers?
I ensure the 'line' I get into is with the actual Priest, and not the Deacon. I cannot take the sacrament yet, as not baptized yet, but when I can I shall with the Priest.
Have church sizes and populations increased? Making it seem like there were more people before?
We don’t need them.
Good question
Where in the Bible does it say you can't partake of communion unless you are baptized?
Infant baptism is non Biblical ! Jesus was 30 years old upon baptism!
Baptism is an act of obedience! It does NOT SAVE! BUT IT IS IMPORTANT!. I WAS BORN A CATHOLIC AND BAPTIZED AT 6 MONTHS!
I became a Christian at 9 and was baptized upon understanding what baptism meant!!
There is nothing in the Bible that prevents you from communion once you accept and ask Jesus into your heart! That is the ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN, NOT ALL THIS MAN MADE RITUALS!!
Before we went to Sunday Mass our mother gave us a strict warning ! We were perfect young ladies every Sunday morning or else! Love & miss you mom !
And the rest of the time?
Next door to where I live, there's a religions order and they had a chapelin who's daily mass lasted a good ½ hour. His Sunday mass was about 1¼ hour. But by the time his time there was up, the Sister's chapel was full. He'd been borrowed from another diocese for 2 years, and we were so sorry to see him leave.
I get upset to see people leave while the last hymn is being sung. As a retired organist, it is so disrespectful to God, the priests, the choir members, and the musicians who are offering their God-given talents to Our Lord.
We have 5 people with birthdays; clap! Another baby Baptized; clap! Someone has an anniversary; clap! A soloist sings a beautiful Ave Maria; clap! A new class made its first Communion; clap. I'm so sick of ignoring Jesus.
Eucharistic ministers take longer than just the priest and altar boys distributing. And it would go faster if we had altar rails.
Teresa Baker-Carl just go to the original Latin mass...you won’t see that there..I grow closer to our Lord during the high sung mass.
Follow the rubrics at all times. Please. why do the priests leave the Sanctuary for his homily..
I second that ...clapping has to go! This is not a concert or a community meeting. Mass is about God. No saying hi or introducing yourself to the people next to before mass either!....do it outside church!
Wow! So true i hate it too.
So the priest announces birthdays and such? Thankfully I’ve never seen that but I attend a Latin Mass 95% of the time.
Sorry father, no applauses, period. It is when we begin to feel moved to start allowing for exceptions that things start to go wrong.
When our priest is away on a spiritual retreat or vacation, we have a retired priest for daily and Sunday Masses. At the end of his stay with us, after the last Mass. we do applaud. Many of us also meet with him outside and thank him personally noting a particular homily for example that touched us.
I thought I was the only one who was uncomfortable with these things. I’m so glad to see there’s an awakening to these issues.
A return to the TLM would put an end to these goofy novelties and unite Catholics throughout the globe.
Proof that Vatican II protestantized the Mass.
someone actually interrupted my silent prayer before Mass on two different occasions. i was a bit bothered but didn’t say anything. a few weeks later she actually apologized which i appreciated. but there is way too much chatter and socializing before Mass.
I agree. I try to get to Mass a half-hour before, so I can pray the rosary, and other prayers to get ready for Mass. The commotion caused by people chatting, coming in and going out is a huge distraction.
@SalKnight686 I can't think of a better place to pray the rosary than in front of the Tabernacle, with Jesus inside it--except at adoration with Him in the monstrance.
I always sit in the front pew so I can be closer to Him and all the distractions are behind me.
I come to mass 30 minutes early and I put in my earbuds and listen to Gregorian Chant and pray silently. It's so crucial to be in the proper frame of mind and to be prepared spiritually for mass.

I need to add skipping the opening prayers and rushing through the Creed. Several times when I was late to church, the Gospel was being read at 10 minutes into the Mass!
I'm always just thankful that I can get to Mass every week
I’ve been to Mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Keller, TX with my daughter and her family ( 4 grandchildren )
And so impressed with the signs on exits - “ Judas left Mass early” Makes you think!!🙏🙏
My biggest heartache that bothers me is seeing people going to receive Jesus with hands in their pockets or dangling at their sides, or worse, chewing gum 😥😥. People - this is your Lord and Savior !! Fold your hands and give Him all your reverence, as you go to receive and going back to your pew with Him in your heart 🙏!!
I thought people chewing gum was going to be one of the 15 things...
I don’t think Jesus cares if you are chewing gum, or with hands in pockets. He was against ceremony. It’s in the word.
Walking With Purpose is excellent. I am so grateful for Lisa and her studies, definitely has brought me closer to my catholic faith.
The gum chewing is awful. Since we believe we are receiving Jesus, it's extremely disrespectful. Do you think He wants to share your mouth with a wad of gum? He is then chewed into that gum!

You don’t understand the Eucharist then. It’s the true body and blood of Jesus Christ. Not to be taken lightly but with reverence. Chewing gum is not reverent.

I think having the Rosary before Mass is helpful for more silence.
When will people stop praying to anyone but GOD? Totally UNBIBLICAL!!
@@cherylrawlings8875 So, for the 1.2 billionth time, Catholics do not pray to anyone but God. Catholics believe that those who are already in Heaven can also converse directly to God. So just like many non-Catholics do here on Earth, we ask for our fellow believers to pray for us. We just believe that those in Heaven can also pray for us too. And who better than Jesus' own Mother, who he had a special relationship with. And we also believe in the Biblical concept of the Gebirah, the Queen Mother, a Jewish tradition that the mother of the King held a very special position in the court. And that his mother - the Queen Mother or Gebirah, still holds this position in the Eternal court of heaven. So, please STOP with the "Catholics" pray to Mary. Cause that's not what they do - intercession of Saints (those already in heaven) is just another way of asking people (dead people) to pray for you.
I totally agree
@@cherylrawlings8875 BTW rosary is not praying to Mary but Praying with Mary to Christ.
Or through Mary to Jesus Christ.
@@cherylrawlings8875 wrong dumb dumb. The Catholic Church put the Bible together so I think we know better. The book of Revelation shows the saints worshipping God, singing hymns, playing instruments, making requests to Christ to avenge their martyrdom, and offering prayers for the saints on earth (Rev. 4:10, 5:8, 6:9-11).
In a dream, God commanded King Abimelech to ask Abraham to intercede for him: “For [Abraham] is a prophet and he will pray for you, so you shall live” (Gen. 20:7). When the Lord is angry with Job’s friends because they did not speak rightly about God, he tells them, “Let my servant Job pray for you because I will accept his [prayer], lest I make a terror on you” (Job 42:8).
James says: “Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects” (James 5:16-17). Thus, according to Scripture, God wants us to pray for one another. This must mean that prayer for one another cannot detract from the role of Jesus Christ as our one mediator with God.
Try to not be so stupid. It is annoying.
Thank you for showing the 15 things that must stop before and during Mass. I wish the priests speak more about them because people just have no common sense anymore and need to
Be remind of what is right and what is wrong. Thank you
Our parish is thriving despite an overly casual standard of clothing and a decline in religious affiliation in our region. Our music is so polished and well known that it attracts both new worshipers and many nonCatholic music lovers.
Our liturgy …including the big team of trained, robed,
well groomed, highly efficient servers…of both sexes…can serve a packed house in about 10 minutes, so that the big crowd at the next mass …2 hours later…can get in.
Our ONE priest…loved by Catholics and the entire city…is famous for short, Scriptural homilies.
A troubled, disheveled person seeking communion would have a companion on his walk to the altar…a trained mental health RN who has worked in the locked ward at the public hospital for 30 years.
And you want to keep girls away from the serving team..
Any time I have heard applause has been for a homily that touched the hearts and minds of the faithful . I believe that such homilies are are given to us by the Holy Spirit via the priests and his willingness and openness to the Holy Spirit. I taught 8th grade in a catholic school and many times I was amazed by the words I used to explained various points to my students. Never did I think I was wise, but rather blessed by the Holy Spirit to teach these precious teens in a way they could understand & hopefully carry with the throughout their lives.
Actively giving the peace can be disruptive and breaks the mood especially as it happens AFTER the consecration. Our parish does not do it. We just respond verbally to Father’s words. As a former Protestant, I always found this uncomfortable when it started in the 1970’s in the Anglican Church too.

Communion in the hand-it is Our Lord, not a cracker!
Not donating /offertory is a nonsense claim. I donate online so I pass the basket on at mass. Someone judgmental (ahem…) might think I did not give an offering. False witness anyone?
I prefer it my way because I have always had a problem with handling cash during mass. It reminds me of the moneychangers in the temple.
The rest of it I sort of agree with but taking the Host on the tongue and sharing the chalice spreads disease, as does hand shaking, so deal with it.
Lastly: when the consecrated hosts have been removed from the sepulcher (it’s not a tabernacle) for the mass, then genuflection and bowing is directed towards the altar, as we are venerating the body and blood of Christ, not the box it was stored in.
Thank you! Even at 1.5 speed I couldn't watch the whole thing.

During communion(till the last person receives the Eucharist ) I’m sorry I can’t and won’t do it. This is a special moment when God comes into my heart and soul. It is a private personal moment with
God. And then it’s rush rush rush out.. sign of the cross and it’s over. Can we get five minutes to be alone with Our Lord before it’s over? My dad was always in the deepest prayer after communion.
A beautiful memory. I love this time❤️
Thank you for stressing the need for a good homily. I haven't heard one during mass for a long time. Preparation is the key, and I don't think it's happening.
Excellent, as a fairly traditional RC, I totally agree with everything said here. I would encourage priests everywhere to pull their congregations up on all these matters.
Our church does ring the bells during the Consecration, It is beautiful. St. Catherine Laboure Church
Mine does too
Mine as well. I love it 🥰
People leaving after communion and not waiting for the Final blessing .
I do that as I can't stand the applause for the musicians at the end of Mass. One should only applaud the Lord in His house.
@@active6302 Especially a screeching rock and roll band.
Judas was the first one to leave mass early
LM ends with the 1st chapter of John followed by 3 Hail Marys, Hail Holy Queen, a prayer, St. Michael the Archangel prayer, and
at my church, we say the Rosary before Mass.
Great job with the 15 things that should not happen at Mass!
I also would like a longer pause during the prayers of the faithful, when they invite us to be mindful of our personal intentions
I have been in crowded Latin Mass and we kneeled without any problems. It moved smoothly and everyone received our Lord from the priest. I prefer to not take communion from hands that are not consecrated even at my parish.
Knelt
People who go to the latin mass are being disobedient to the Holy Spirit.
@@Anon.5216 How so?
Those who have received baptism and confirmation can distributed the consecrated bread and wine.
Same. I only receive from the priest
I was an acolyte as a young man in the early 70s. The one priest and I distributed communion for up to 1200 in twenty minutes everyday. We used an alter rail and it worked well for over a hundred years.
Bingo!
Same equivalent as Fr Ritsh of the Catholic talk show!!! 😀
Yep, the masses where there is a rail always seem to be far more efficient when it comes to communion than those without. And more reverent too.
I think we've opened the sacrament to scandal and sacrilege in its current form. If you go to a Latin mass 20 min is normal and there's no possibility for sacrileges because no one can take Jesus home in their hand or drop him by accident. Kids prefer it as well. At least mine do. We sit in the front and it's weird having everyone bump you walking by when your praying
💯
If I have to genuflect, I’m in big trouble. I have knees that you not allow me to genuflect. However, I would not think of sitting down without at least bowing before the altar, and the tabernacle the days of genuflecting for me are long over. I wish they weren’t, but they are.
Kneel when Prist bless us. It is Our Lord's Blessing we are receiving.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Yes parents please dress properly. No shorts No mini dresses showing your butt. No letting your kids play on your phone. When we were growing up my parents told us you sit there in church and listen. Boy if we didn't oh boy wait till we get home. So see parents don't Discipline their kids anymore That's the problem. Thank you. God bless.🙏❤
Amen, sister.😊
Thank you I really appreciate it for your support
beat your children into submission?
I remember a man who went to the priest after mass and complained to him about the lady saying how scantily she was dressed, she had a mini, etc. Then the priest said to him "And you did not move"?
Oh boy, wait till you got home? I don't think fear should dictate our faith life. But it does explain why some older women look like they want to beat my children if they dare make a sound or move during Mass. I mean, it's how they were raised, has to be okay, I guess?
One option for avoiding almost everything bad in Mass is attending an Eastern Catholic liturgy. No hand-holding, no hand-shaking, no Hillsong-style silliness, but much reverence and solemnity.
Or TLM!
Any of the traditional forms is a game changer
I cannot believe that Pope Pops pro claimed that Mary was the coredeemer of the faith. This is terrible theology. Mary's last days were spent on irag or Iran. Her final home is on a tour when you travel there. It is a small humble house and she lived there. She was not taken up to heaven as co_redemtrist. She was a very young Jewish girl when she had Jesus. The Catholic church portrays her as a taller blonde Scandinavian usually in blue. Her baby looks fair, with blue eyes and a Scandinavian look. Get real. She was probably short dark curly hair and Jesus probably looked similar. Saying the rosary over and over seems to comfort many people. Jesus is the one and only redeemer of the world Mary is not. The bible speaks about vain reposition. This is a real example of that. I meant reposition. The church, over the years has set up many things that are man made and not appropriate. Many people seem to need these things like small children need stuffed animals. Use your own brain and think for yourself. I have gone on too long. Be a Christian, but think for your self. This could change your life and your faith. Bruce
I must say I agree with you. As a student of Medieval Sudies I was invited by my professor to the Orthodox Church. I witnessed, was part of and appreciatef the solemnity.
I wonder if the standing for the entire Service largely contributes to the focus, silence and solemnity.
Standing; comfort is miniscule and discourages conversation and other"freeness"!
If I had a traditional Mass in my area I'd go in a New York minute.
I cant bend my knees any more
Ĥow do i go and not be able to pray . I am 75 . I just had another heart attack and my surgeon was a devolved catholic. He wants me to go to mass 3 x before we meet at my appointment.
I just found this site and you touched on something that happened last time I was there clapping of hands .. and a ballet dance down the aisle.
I felt that it was not relevant..
