Legendary creatures are a big part of Magic. And most of them are pretty powerful -- or at least interesting. But that's not true of all of them. In this video I give my picks for the worst white legendary creatures in Magic.

Uh oh. This means Worst Red Legendaries are in the future. Nizzahon, as someone who shares a name with the Red legendary creature, Chandler, and has a deck with him as the commander, please show mercy.
This makes me wish that had a cool name, like Maraxus.
I too share a name with a legendary creature, Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar
Sure, Chandler is super inefficient. But at least he genuinely does something. I would be surprised if he makes the bottom ten out of all monored legends.
@@Waffletigercat That's my thought. He's repeatable removal. Especially with like mycosynth lattice.
Nizzahon: "I will destroy Chandler, he will suffer!"
lol the flavor text on hazduhr is calling out how bad he is at his job
He was probably a good Abbot 50 years ago.
Huge flavor win lol
Its about him being old and in need of a young successor. The artwork looks somewhat dignified, if they wanted to portray him as a bad abbot he would look much more goofy or sinister. The "or else we are lost" is about him possibly dying of old age, leaving the people unprotected.
If Rushida Scalebane had been in Tarkir block, I'd have tried running it in limited, and I wonder if it might have been good enough for constructed sideboards. There was a lot of dragons in limited, and some very notable ones in standard for a while. Alas, many years seperated the two.
I like the art on General Jarkeld, it makes me think of Bloodborne for some reason.
General Jarkeld, the Artic Fox! He was referenced in a lot of cards back in the day. It's a shame he had such a disappointing card!
It's kind of surprising they haven't given him a card that doesn't suck considering how many opportunities they've had. Cold Snap would've been a perfect opportunity, as would Time Spiral, Modern Masters, commander products, etc. I guess they just don't care about this dude. 😔
9:34 dang the oracle text is waaay more confusing lol
Ahhh bad cards, I absolutely love bad cards. They're probably my third favourite genre of Magic the Gathering stuff, after green fliers and "Top 10 Vintage Cards (Minus Power 9)"!
I traded a Mox Diamond for a Hazduhr the Abbot when I was 11 years old. I know that might sound like a bad deal, but what if I told you that I also owned a Sword of the Chosen and no Legendary creatures to use it with? Now it all starts to makes sense, right? I was desperate to get my hands on some legendarys to use my super sweet Sword with and I was absolutely hyped to finally be able to add it to my very first deck, an 85 (87 after this acquisition) mono white monstrosity that I was unable to beat my older brother with even once from what I recall. Great times.
I couldn't've cared less about some dumb 0 cost artifact that made me discard a land just to basically be a land itself. I mean, what's even the point of that?
No Ragrets.
I wish they could figure out a white damage prevented=draw cards card.
Opal-Eye is kind of neat as an evolution of the Veteran Bodyguard from the original core sets, but that's about the only appeal
Poor Homelands... I still love that set, no matter how awful it is.
I love how some of these cards were made with a specific theme in mind (Zuberi for griffins and Rashida targeting Dragons) and at the time of their printings, there were hardly any targets or creatures to boost for those cards. (and in Zuberi's case, still only really effective in a Changeling deck) I know by Mirage there were at least a few significant Dragons one could play, but such a narrow situation on top of being able to only go after one type. There were no Changelings near Mirage's time and probably what, two other Griffins???? Yikes.
I think Sorrow's Path is the better card overall, it'll at least trigger your dinosaur abilities.
Yesssssssss
Hrm. I'd forgotten about Opal-Eye; seems like it might be funny with Donna Noble.
In Atalya's defense (not that it's much of one) if you do have something like Training Grounds to reduce activated ability costs, that does also count towards the X since you're not actually spending any mana, you're reducing the cost of the ability.
...
As I said, it's not much of one, lol
Fun fact: the first three sets to contain mono-white legends are Ice Age, Homelands, and Mirage - and they're all here! The only cards from those sets to escape this list are Soraya and Sidar Jabari.
I remember when ice age came out and there were all of these references to general jarkeld and when I actually opened one as my rare in a pack, I was so stoked.
Then I read it.
1:23 - but in fairness, no one building Zuberi (or 99ing it for the upgraded descendant it got a bit ago, more likely) cares about only using the "good" Griffins. It's a pet deck, and it's gonna jank up the table with its head held high.
2:03 the new dragons of tarkir timeline would like a word with you
I opened a Mirage starter deck, and i got a Zuberi AND a Teeka's Dragon as 2 of my 3 rares lol
Fully expected Soraya the Falconer to be on the list, but honestly I'd take her over any of the other cards on this list. So makes sense she's not on it. She was terrible for a long time though.
Yeah if she still only buffed Falcons she would be on here for sure haha
I always find Opal-Eye funny that it has reminder text for defender, and not Bushido
I thought Sorrow's Path was terrible until I realized it will cause every dinosaur you have with an Enrage trigger to get angry right before combat damage happens and you can do some interesting stuff with that.
Worst Legends should exclude both Legends and Homeland sets. Legends because creatures were so much weaker, and Homelands because it was set that made Legendary Creatures relatively (and lower case c) common.
General Jarkheld "We must confound our enemies plans... Force them to face the wrong adversaries."
Random advisor "We could send them down Sorrow's Path!"
General Jarkheld "Are you f---ing crazy? That land is terrible."
Hi Nizzahon. I just wanted to thank you for doing these Top 10 Worst lists: I've been playing Magic casually since 4th Edition and these videos have been the most educational things I've ever seen in terms of learning to evaluate cards. I really appreciate your hard work!
Legendaries used to mean they were important to the story, now they just shove 100 unique named creatures into every set without lore reasons.
I’m nervous how this is gonna hit the other colors lol. I pray for green…
Still have fun with my General Jarkeld/Raging River combo😂 Trying to figure out how to incorporate Space Jace🤪
I tried to make a griffon deck when Mirage came out. It was as bad as you'd expect. There's only so much you can do with a bunch of 4 mana 2/2 flyers.
Pretty much always enjoy the worst lists. Maybe it's because of actually referencing EDH, but honestly, it's just gun, sometimes, to see the cards no one should want. Usually not a list of the cards so good, and rare, that average people can't get them; instead one should just not want to get them. 😊
Of course, as a Blue player, that'll be the list I look most forward to, if each color is likely to receive a similar list, and between eating Islands, just to be there, or bouncing everything else you had, Blue definitely has some stinkers.
General Jarkeld was easier to understand before the oracle text. 😂
Jarkeld's art is wasted on that card. Would genuinely like to see Magic use more art like that. A whole set of beautiful lineart with those lovely layered watercolor/water marker colors.
General jarkeld would be great after goading the board
Zuberi??? I came in 3rd in a 250 person tourny m/v/w block with griffins. The only thing that beat me was wildfire emmisarry cuz i never even seen that card before 😂😂
I think it could be cool if you put the set and year the card came out, under the price, so people can get an idea of its relative power: a bad card in 1998 hits different from an equally bad card in Bloomburrow
Looks like I'm staying up for another twelve minutes.
I work overnights so I always get these on my lunch break
Somebody make a white deck that plays all 10 of these
Zuberi? Instant unsubscribe. I had a griffin deck back in the days!
I happen to prefer the era of Magic when Zuberi and Jarkeld were OK, rather than uncommon, three mana 8/8's with trample, infect, and haste (or whatever new power creep we see out of the next set). You know, the era when turn two wins weren't considered "slow decks".
watching this video looking for a new commander to build
Kamigawa, Homelands, and 3 Kingdoms all have more than one entry on this list, and are frequent sources of other Worst Top Ten cards. At least Kamigawa got redeemed with a set of good cards. I doubt Homelands or 3 Kingdoms will ever get a similar redemption.
It's amazing how bad and boring white was even as late into the game as Kamigawa. Now, White is not only dominating but fun.
What happened to how good is it? I enjoyed the series
Episodes will come out when I find time for them. The Doran one is like half scripted.
If Ma Ro (Maro) means Mark Rosewater, then Ki Yo could only be... That's messed up! Why would they do that?? Lol.
This list is cool for commander, but top ten uncommon creatures would be great for pauper commander
1 - Ice Age, remember? "Y" sound.
Just was about griffin tribal that I’ve tried to make work off and on since 1999.
Would atalya not be in a mono white devotion deck I mean it's kinda like a worse version of alabaster potion except it's a creature which is generally upside.
When a literal vanilla creature is a better card...
These videos are neat, but I think it would be interesting to see videos like this with the cards be judged based on the time the set was being played, most of these lists end up boiling down to "old card bad", but they were products of their time when magic was trying to figure out what it was doing, and compared to modern legendaries they are not going to stand the test of time.
I try do a Zuberi deck on Mirage times XD
Wayne John, Shoe General
I expected Isamaru to be #1 for some reason. It's a vanilla 2/2 Legendary Dog for one mana, and to add salt to injury they thought that was good enough to be a Rare. I guess he does something in a Dog tribal, but still...
Isamaru has actually done stuff.
He was really good in Block and Standard in his day, and is one of the most heavily played Commanders in cEDH.
Is the title supposed to specify white legends?
Probably.
This has to be a banger list
First he rips on my boi Zuberi then he disses my girl Rashida 😕😂
I'd love to see the worst 2 color or the worst 3 color legends.
Welcome to the "Legends" set.
@@stuflames4769 Sometimes, he jams similar cards into one slot.
7:22 just play bristling boar
😂 I made a griffin commander deck and give it away as a secret Santa on tiktok
But I love General Jarkeld
So is the video just a bunch of overcosted vanillas from Legends?
All the legendary creatures in Legends were multicolored.
glad to say i own none of these stinkers.
dude keeping his mouth nice and shut about the bad samurai tribal
These are some terrible cards, but some great art on these cards!
Might want to add "white" to the video's title? Currently it's only on the thumbnail picture.
