Telstar - The Tornados/The Shadows Cover by Steve Reynolds

"Telstar" is a 1962 instrumental written and produced by Joe Meek for the English band the Tornados.[2] The track reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in December 1962 (the second British recording to reach No. 1 on that chart in the year, after "Stranger on the Shore" in May), and was also a number one hit in the UK Singles Chart. It was the second instrumental single to hit No. 1 in 1962 on both the US and UK weekly charts
This is my cover based on The Shadows version from their album "Hits Right Up Your Street"
Backing track came from the Casting a Shadows CD
Recorded on my Squier Simon Neil Strat with Korg AX3000G. Audio recorded in Audacity and Video edited in Cyberlink Powerdirector.

Very jealous Steve, I’m just starting out trying to emulate the shadows. Do you use a wound G String? I’m learning the songs but struggling to get the sound which is very demoralising. Considering getting myself the new Fender Mustang GT Modelling Amp.

Hi Ritchie good to hear from you. I dont use a wound g as my strings are 11s so not really heavy enough. I use a Boss Katana amp which gives a great shads sound with an echo unit. Any questions please let me know.
