Awesome!! Also need a Kolkata food video now!! Couple of things, though! Gur is Jaggery/molasses made from the sap of date palm trees. It predates sugar as a sweetener in Indian, especially Eastern Indian cuisine. The Kalojam you had is a derivative of the Bengali equivalent of the gulab jamun - it is called Pantua. Try one of those pice restaurants which have fresh fish cooked in bengali style, variety of them but also budget friendly. Even breakfast in Kolkata, Kachori of Putiram Mallick is famous in College square. You have a variety in Kolkata to try out. Enjoy and Bon Appetite! 👍

Happy to see you guys in my city ❤️❤️the gulab jamun Chad was talking about is actually called Kala jamun and he was right it's cooked more 👍👍The missing things you mentioned you should visit local, like Jadavpur, Baghajatin you'll find everything with cheapest price 😀😀Rasgulla (two types chewy and soft), Gulab jamun etc here will melt in your mouth and the mishti doi you'll find in every shop, waiting for your next video 👍👍Enjoy ❤️❤️
The second rosogolla that you had was darker in color. It was flavored with gur. This is a special gur, available only in winter, it is khejur gur. Gur is molasses, and khejur is date palm. On the date palm tree, a pot is hung to collect the sap. This is then boiled to concentrate the liquid and make molasses. All this is too complicated for us, just enjoy the sweets and continue your sinful and decadent life.
@@FollowMeImaFoodieIndia You can take that jaggery back home and replace sugar with it or use it as bread spread. You won't regret it. We make basmati rice pudding with this jaggery. It's easy to make.
