    As a Lakers fan, there was definitely some signs of life here.
    Mostly -- adjustments were quick and decisive.
    What we struggled with a lot last year was keeping leads and responding to runs from other teams -- so it was good to see the nice adjustments from JJ when the Wolves started to creep back in.
    I also am enjoying that it feels like we get into iso/stagnant offenses less often and are constantly cutting/picking around people to generate new looks even if they don't pan out.
    It will remain to be seen if we can keep this up! I hope so.

    It's insane how free flowing the offense was. I guess JJ Reddick has been preparing to call him to become a coach.
    Some comments come at me when I compared Darvin Ham's offense vs JJ Reddick's describing at as free flowing. I didn't say it was the best it was just less clunky compared to Ham's. These comments should not be replied to mine but the video since the content creator describe JJ Reddick's performance Masterclass which is too much compared to my free flow description.

    Trading KAT to NYK slightly decreases the Timberwolves team chemistry. You lose interior offense and defensive presence, KAT spaces the floor Gobert does not. Trading KAT puts the team in a tough spot in a tight game with 2 mins left. That’s just my take I would love to hear what someone else thinks or disagrees. Great win for the Lakers !!

    • @ephalanx1
      @ephalanx1 29 дней назад +2

      Agreed. I don’t think JJ Reddick did anything extra here. The issue is the wolves. They have lost 20 pts of offense with decreased spacing. They should move Coney and Rudy to the bench and put Dvo and Naz into the starting line up. Or at the least put dvo in for Conley. Lakers and Wolves shot terrible overall. This game is nothing to be excited about if I’m the Lakers.

    • @subjectively_objective
      @subjectively_objective 29 дней назад +2

      I think KAT is better fit next to gobert but I think Randle gives Min a better small ball line-up; he is more gritty than KAT. He will grab more boards and they can play through him in post as a more reliable second scorer. I think if Randle gets comfortable with spots then he can he a decent catch and shoot player. I think Min’s real problem is that Mike Conley and Donte Divincenzo are their main playmakers… they need more solid passers or they need to really buy into a 0.5 offense. I dont think they can win without a real passer. Lets give it a month or two to see.

      @@viintage_b i would have traded KAT for a guard and another shooter/wing maybe Dejounte Murray would have been a good fit but Im not super familiar with Murray’s passing game. Either way I dont think this team works unless Gobert or Randle becomes Marc Gasol or they trade for a playmaker. Donte didnt look good last night and Conley is old asf. But Maybe finch can get them to buy in to a motion offense.

    Idk if its because I barely watched the Lakers last year, but it really seems that the offense is actually flowing. The spacing was great. Timbs played with no urgency though. I wasn't sure what was going on there, but they seemed a step slow for most of the game.

    • @ephalanx1
      @ephalanx1 29 дней назад

      Lakers shot horrible so I’m not sure how the offense was flowing. 44% overall and 16% from 3. Only thing is the wolves were worse overall. That team lost 20 pts of offense and spacing. With one of their cornerstone players being traded. The wolves have a lot of work to do.

    • @jamiethorpe5431
      @jamiethorpe5431 29 дней назад +1

      @@ephalanx1 You didnt watch the game did you? Or you don't understand what "flow" is. Offensive flow isn't about whether you make shots its the ability to generate open shots and if you watched the game you'd see lots of open shots from the Lakers. They just couldn't capitalize. Lakers had lots and lots of movement which created confusion for the Wolves on defense...Lakers offense had lots of flow and less standing around like last season.

      @@ephalanx1Bro, they shot horribly, and still won by 7. If you watched the game, the wolves were confused all night because of the lakers movement and activity. That’s what we’ve been looking for, regardless of the shot making or lack there of

    • @cheetah219
      @cheetah219 29 дней назад

      @@ephalanx1 from what I saw, ball movement was great. Shots not falling is very different than creating opportunities. Lakers did a pretty good job with that for the parts I watched (fell asleep before the 4th quarter, so things could have looked worse in the 4th). I'm not a laker fan, but im not stressing over 44% FG. That's pretty good. 22 assists while forcing 7 turnovers with steals and 8 blocks is a huge defensive effort. They shot 10 more shots than the timbs and they were grabbing the O boards for easy put backs and top ins.
      I'm not stressing about the Lakers in one game. Obviously a lot of work to do, it's the first game of the season. Teams aren't going to shoot Celtics lights out and it'll be 60% from 3pt land.
      This offense looks significantly better than last year.

Regardless of any flaws he has as a player he could get the team going and played with an intensity that rubbed off on the team when he was healthy and active. At least in Game 1, the Knicks seemed to lack that fire and didn't seem to have a player that would punch it out of them.

    Lakers had a few plays here and there but it was mainly transition buckets or AD iso’s that was the reason they won. The only thing I can truly credit coaching for is the defensive intensity the Lakers played with and they were a good defensive team under Ham so I don’t see this spectacular coaching that was on display tbh. JJ’s true test will be their record towards the middle/end of the season where coaching really matters
