Not to say LA doesn’t treat their coaches well in the media, but holy crap it makes me so frustrated when people say Darvin Ham was a scapegoat. Dude was just straight up a bad coach.
Ham was the worst coach in Lakers history, given the talent he had to work with. Byron Scott was terrible, too, but he was just there to babysit Kobe's retirement tour.

Same with Max Christie and Jaxson Hayes. They finished off the year strong for them in December then Ham decides to bench them completely and put them in garbage time.
Why is this channel still speaking on him? It’s strange. JJ better go to the WCF this season, because that’s what Darvin did. We know JJ won’t, so then what?
They didn’t fire Darvin Ham because he was the scapegoat. They fired him because he was obviously out coached by every top head coach they went up against. Different lineups every night, no adjustments, saving timeouts, etc …
Only casuals who barely watched the Lakers would say that Ham was a good coach last season. Didn't try to build continuity at all despite that being the major focus throughout that season. Incomprehensible lineups that got repeated runs despite all of the numbers saying that they did not work. Would play minimum guys over guys making multiple times that for no apparent reason. Frequently did not call timeouts until he gave up a 10+ point run to the other team. Stated that he saved timeouts to give LeBron rest time in crunch time but would frequently end the game with multiple timeouts left unused. When he did call timeouts and we could hear what he was saying, most of what he said was just motivational bs instead of actual plays or analysis of the game. Saying that the Lakers used a good coach in Ham as a scapegoat is just completely disingenuous like how some basketball show hosts and coaches tried to argue. Ham wasn't the only issue but he was not helping the team win, no matter how nicely you wanted to put it. The most apt and most positive description for him would've been that he wasn't the worst coach in the NBA last season. To be fair, there were a handful or two that were worse. @@troylee4196 Vogel was understandably fired because he had basically no offensive schemes whatsoever, and the Lakers no longer had the personnel to be an elite defense after they blew up most of the team and traded for Westbrook. For what it's worth, I don't care how much someone makes when putting together a lineup. If you win more players with a guy on a minimum instead of $30 million, then that's just what you do. Sunk cost and all that.
The biggest issue with Ham's Lakers run was the results based logic being inconsistent. Experimenting with line-ups is great in spurts but he spent about 65/82 games trying to solve a puzzle that everyone could already see. Great video! I feel like most non-Lakers fans never really understood the frustration with Darvin Ham all season and thought that firing him was just a misdirected "scapegoat" situation for their lack of success. Yes, a lot of it was health/personel issues and an undesirable First Round matchup. However, if you followed the Lakers, there's no question that Darvin regularly screwed the pooch with lineups. I mean, starting 5 Power Forwards? What a joke! Not to mention offending your starters, throwing them off their game/rhythms, and botching any semblance of continuity. And, once you lose the (respect of) the locker room, you've done irreparable damage to the team's morale, their groove, etc., and there's just no coming back from that. Hopefully, (things with) JJ will be much better. I believe they will. Los Angeles Lakers 2025 NBA World Champions! Let's Go!
So funny how the media reacted when Darvin Ham got fired. You would think the lakers fired a young Pat Riley. These guys never watched his all forwards starting 5 and it showed
amazing breakdown, not following the lakers debacle closely and just laughing at their inability to do anything well after the play-in tourney, this has shown me a whole-ass controversy i was not aware of. we knew ham sucked, but at least I didn't know that this was the way he sucked THE MOST, and its all because of ego and wanting to prove the media wrong....
You can argue Darvin is not a good coach but 7 out of the 9 coaches Lebron played for got fired. The argument that somebody needs a scapegoat for every failure he has seems very plausible. Now they hire a no coaching experience dude as headcoach of the Lakers? Maybe another scapegoat for when he fails again lol. Not to mention his lazy defense, whining after every non call, flopping, crowning himself, etc. Yeah... were just a bunch of haters. Open your eyes, Lebron ain't that great. I never understand how you morons worship this overrated overhyped buffoon who has no skill other than to ram his shoulders through the defender to score his points.
I rarely click on a basketball video with relatively "low" view count. But when I do I hope its a hidden gem. I hit it this time. Great job, greetings from Serbia🙏
Oh man you cannot imagine the frustration I had watching the lakers last year. I honestly don't get it, in 2022-2023 Darvin Ham came up with the line up that went to the WCF, in the summer the Lakers had arguably one of the best off-season by signing multiple solid players, everyone expected the Lakers to be at least top 6 in the West, and Darvin Ham somehow fumbled the bag. I don't understand how he went from a coach who turned the 2022-2023 season around, to someone who refuse to use the WCF line up that HE CAME UP WITH.
Lebron haters are little cockroaches. All 3 teams he has been on would always get hated on because those cockroaches would come in to hate for no reason other than saying that they don't think he is as great as Kobrick or Jorbum.😂😂
while i think lebron does deserve *some* criticism for influencing front-office decisions that don't age well (such as getting wade and d-rose for the cavs and blowing up that team mid-season, and the russ trade that blew up more than half of what was left of the 2020 championship season), i think this season wasn't necessarily his fault, sure, he had some mistakes against the nuggets, but darvin ham's bad decision making was the main catalyst
@@uaushaiaosao9308lebron haters are absolute monkey brains but you have to have a special type of lizard to say “kobrick or jorbum” 😂😂😂 cmon bro you had me in the first half ngl
@@yc99official95It’s crazy how much misinformation is out there. Lebron literally was pissed that the cavs ended up trading kyrie that year, cause he thought he could convince kyrie to stay. Drose and wade were free agents and signed for minimum contracts literally non factors. And that Russ trade was robs way of making up for the mishandling of the Demar Derozan signing
This was a great breakdown of what happened with the Lakers this past season. I was unable to keep up with all the news during that time and all I heard was lineups, coaching/chemsitry issues and that burst from Lebron. Watching this made it all complete sense. Definitely look forward to more of your videos!
He has been terrible both years, but him CONSTANTLY starting Prince when the stats suggested against it, and THEN going small ball versus Jokić in the playoffs was the ultimate smooth brain moment. So much so that I made a diss track about that man. It's on my channel.😭
I waited all season to see that western conference lineup, and I thought this season would be a continuation of that momentum, now with a full season under their belt. But his illogical experimenting went on for over half the season and costed LA their season. Those lineups made no sense, whyy did he keep trying? Whyy was he so hellbent on trying to make them work? They were maybe a lateral movie in the best possible case scenario and a net negative in every aspect at worst, which they were.
Love the video. Nailed it on the head. I think Ham had the pressure of the LA spotlight on him and he crumbled under it, probably why he’s now gone back to Milwaukee, where he was comfortable and out of the spotlight. Dropped a sub, can’t wait to see what content you bring us thru the season!

@@Big_Spicy Not scared so much as the Nuggets were probably the worst matchup for the Lakers. I'm not sure they get to the Finals. But none of the other teams had such a clear advantage against the Lakers.
@JonSmith-hk1bq The worst part is with a competent coach we coulda beat Denver. We spent the entirety of that matchup IN THE LEAD and up double digits. But we failed to make adjustments in the 2nd half of any of those games and guess what would happen? Mike Malone would rally his guys, make changes and then we would lose innthe 4th quarter. Im so glad everybody finally caught up with my opinion on Darvin Ham. He arguably lost the lakers like 20 games last season because he refused to call timeouts in key situations and lost a close games with 2 timeouts still and unused challenges. He kept them like he got paid more on how many timeouts he kept at the end of the game. The last game between the clippers and lakers the clippers were up by 15 and the lakers brought it back to down 3 and there was only 5 minutes left and wanna know the next timeout Darvin called? When there was 1 minute left to put in garbage time players because the clippers made a 14-2 run to bring their lead back to up 15. And they had 2 timeouts and unused challenge. Thats when i knew Darvins coaching was actually hurting this team more than the others teams players could ever hurt the lakers.
I had no idea why Hachimura wasn't playing more under Ham. Made no sense. Now seeing JJ as coach and seeing how Lakers have been playing well really makes me question Ham and what he was doing. JJ is going with the no brainer lineup: LeBron, AD, Reaves, DLo and Hachimura. Vando will be a big help once he's heathy again. There's a reason why Ham only got one year with the Lakers.
I’m actually just surprised that it took that long for the franchise to fire him even when we got to the conference finals he was horrible that season too

Thank you for putting into a video exactly why I think getting JJ as coach and Knecht means We had A good off season. Ham was literally holding the team back and just not having him was such an improvement and replacing him with a mind like JJ is gonna unleash this team. Also knecht is the missing catch and shoot player we needed and we finally plug that gap in 3 point shooting. I’m hyped for this season
my favourite darwin ham moments were when he wrote on the clip board "contest without fouling" and his speech "go hard on them dudes, everybody tries to play the right way, salute". Dude was just a fan with front seat tickets. Cant wait how that thing in Mil with him and Doc Rivers turns out.
Outside of all the goofy lineup decisions, pretty much every instance when it got late in close games we looked like we were not running any plays. The last 3-4 minutes of every game it was just trusting in Bron and AD’s IQ to get it done. Drove me crazy, that’s just not sustainable in the playoffs against the leagues best teams.
Had a weird feeling you heard some person say “Darvin Ham thinks too much” one time and decided to make a whole drawn out 15 min vid on it, so happy you showed the clip to prove myself right towards the end.

Let's Go!
"don't settle. go hard on em dudes. everybody tryna play the right way, SALUTE."
That transition on 9:56 is funny. Ham loves him some prince
pleeease no lineup questions... just wine....
😂
I'm not going to lie I was expecting a lineup full of Taurean Princes 😂😂
@@EmmanuelAniTheSchism, that’s a 2K video I’d pay to see, LMAO.
@@EmmanuelAniTheSchism Ham would do that if he could. Prince even followed him back to Milwaukee 💀💀
So funny how the media reacted when Darvin Ham got fired. You would think the lakers fired a young Pat Riley. These guys never watched his all forwards starting 5 and it showed
I wonder why they reacted that way. Oh well I guess there's no clear reason. /s
amazing breakdown, not following the lakers debacle closely and just laughing at their inability to do anything well after the play-in tourney, this has shown me a whole-ass controversy i was not aware of. we knew ham sucked, but at least I didn't know that this was the way he sucked THE MOST, and its all because of ego and wanting to prove the media wrong....
underrated channel, keep it up bro!
Thank you so much!
Agree!
He's just getting started
These media clowns going with the narrative that Lakers/Lebron always need a scapegoat. FOH they're just a bunch of haters
These dudes don't even like basketball they like Narratives
Lebron do throw people under the bus but Ham is awful
@@Eniggma39I guess both things can be true in this case.
@@Eniggma39Show me 1 exemple motherfucker
Thanks for making this. Absolutely wild to see the season’s progression on this in quick succession.
It was absolutely infuriating.
I didn’t realise I was watching a small channel until you mentioned it at the end. Congrats, nicely put together video.
Thank you!
12:34 Looking up and saying "Can you repeat that?" is crazyy😂
This is why Mike Malone insisted the Lakers should keep.Ham. It makes his job easier 😂😂
I rarely click on a basketball video with relatively "low" view count. But when I do I hope its a hidden gem. I hit it this time. Great job, greetings from Serbia🙏
Thank you so much! Greetings from Canada to my Serbian friend 🙏
That dude a planet fitness coach
As a bron and lakers fan I sincerely say this, this was a great video. Darvin ham wasted the whole season for us last year.
Love that Taurean is back with Ham in Milwaukee 🥲🤣
You deserve more subscribers, this channel is underrated.
Thank you so much! Just getting started and hopefully it grows 🙏
Finally a video for all the Darvin sympathizers and Lebron haters saying that it’s Lebrons fault, not Darvin.
Lebron haters are little cockroaches. All 3 teams he has been on would always get hated on because those cockroaches would come in to hate for no reason other than saying that they don't think he is as great as Kobrick or Jorbum.😂😂
It doesn’t even take a LeBron hater. Ham wasn’t perfect but yall Lebron dickriders are always over the top. You can die on that hill lol
while i think lebron does deserve *some* criticism for influencing front-office decisions that don't age well (such as getting wade and d-rose for the cavs and blowing up that team mid-season, and the russ trade that blew up more than half of what was left of the 2020 championship season), i think this season wasn't necessarily his fault, sure, he had some mistakes against the nuggets, but darvin ham's bad decision making was the main catalyst
Keep going! Great takes and great quality. You have the right dream!
14:26 this clip from D Lo is hilarious 😂 how can you say that “respectfully”.
It's got a great thumbnail too
I waited all season to see that western conference lineup, and I thought this season would be a continuation of that momentum, now with a full season under their belt.
Yes, Doc plus Darvin perfect.
Goodluck Giannis 😅
I'm a heat fan, and the way you broke that down was A1!! He literally single-handedly f'd it up for Lébron.. great video! Please make one on why Lébron left Miami!!
If Darvin didn’t sabotage our lineups I believe we grab a higher and avoid Denver and go to the finals at the bare minimum
Lakers scared to play against Nikola Jokic?
@@Big_Spicy Not scared so much as the Nuggets were probably the worst matchup for the Lakers.
I'm not sure they get to the Finals. But none of the other teams had such a clear advantage against the Lakers.
@@JonSmith-hk1bq ah ok I see
@JonSmith-hk1bq The worst part is with a competent coach we coulda beat Denver. We spent the entirety of that matchup IN THE LEAD and up double digits. But we failed to make adjustments in the 2nd half of any of those games and guess what would happen? Mike Malone would rally his guys, make changes and then we would lose innthe 4th quarter. It was so frustrating
@@oceano87 Yeah, the Lakers really should have won that series.
Banging vid man. Easiest 15 minute watch all year
14:07 of course it's doc rivers saying this after bringing down the bucks season lmao
LOL that's exactly what Doc would've said about himself after he got fired by the Celtics, Clippers, Sixers.
After he got fired by Celtics: I brought y'all to one championship and 1 conference Finals
After he got fired by Clippers and Sixers: I brought y'all to 3 conference semis
Literally the last person that should say all that
Doc Rivers is habitual fumbler
injuries brang them down dummy
And guess where ham and Prince are 😳
Bro your content is so fucking entertaining. Amazing execution and overall quality video. Keep up the good work man I know you’ll have so many more people who would enjoy your stuff
Thank you so much for your kind comment. Really made my day. 🙏
And now we start the season 3-0 with JJ as the coach 🦾🦾
And we don’t even have Christian Wood and Vanderbilt yet, imagine when they come back? 😱
Quality wins too, a pretty tough 3 game opener. To pick up all 3 already shows massive improvements
@@melvincuaresma-SWand the bench has been trash asf and he finding way to win without making Bron go ape mode and letting Ad run offense
😭😭😭😭
this is proof that ham is not doing practice, they practice lineups in actual game 😂
Smh Darvin Hamburger 🍔 was so clueless last season smh if you have a lineup that works continue it but instead he always goes away from what's working smh 🤦
The WCF run was IN SPITE of Hams coaching and I will die on that hill. If youre a Laker fan that isnt casual, youll remember Twitter had to bully this man to play Lonnie Walker against the Dubs in the playoffs.. and look what happened when he finally did 🙄
I swear we would’ve gone to the fucking finals if it weren’t for Ham. Idc how good Denver was that year
Craziest thing about this is Whitlock and Rivers claiming that the lakers were successful because of Ham, not in-spite of him.
Great video
You’re just getting started with your channel and it’s already this good and well put together, wow…give it about 2 years and you should be pretty big in the basketball/sports RUclips commentary population
Definitely super underrated channel, proud to say I was here before 1k! Hope you go places man your super talented
Thank you so much 🙏, it was at 500 subs when I went to bed!

Darvin Ham: 🧍🏾♂️
✋🏿👖🤚🏿
Really well produced video. This channel is definitely going to blow up soon
Ofcourse Doc Rivers would say it makes no sense
They are perfect for eachother lmao
IT PLAYED OUT FXKN WONDERFUL
I had no idea why Hachimura wasn't playing more under Ham. Made no sense. Now seeing JJ as coach and seeing how Lakers have been playing well really makes me question Ham and what he was doing. JJ is going with the no brainer lineup: LeBron, AD, Reaves, DLo and Hachimura. Vando will be a big help once he's heathy again. There's a reason why Ham only got one year with the Lakers.
I’m actually just surprised that it took that long for the franchise to fire him even when we got to the conference finals he was horrible that season too
Here after the Lakers started 3-0
Sending this video to anyone who says Ham was a scapegoat. So frustrating hearing that from people who didn't watch this shit unfold live
Ham gave me nightmares
At the end of the video you mention you’re a long way from 1,000 subs. I’m sitting here, only 4 days later, and you have over 5,000. Congrats man. Well deserved. This was a great video.
Honestly had no idea you just begun this channel. This video felt like someone who already had years of experience with content creating. I dropped a sub loved the video and I hope you grow much more and see a lot of success in the future 🙏🏽
I wouldn't have known about this issue if you haven't made a video. Thank you.
Those 10 teams made good decision passing on him. Dude shouldn’t have been a head coach
Only 3 videos so far but I think you’re on the come up when it comes to NBA channels, stay up brother‼️
Bruh it’s night and day between JJ and Darwin Ham.
Only a matter of time before this channel takes off.... me being "impressed" is an understatement
Great video! Subbed
Couldnt believe this was only your third video. Great research, telling of the story, and editing. Looking forward to more videos from you!
He was the downfall of that team!!!! He had no idea what was going on. JJ or not any coach would’ve been an upgrade.
Extremely well done video! super underrated
Prince isn’t a necessarily bad player. He’s good. Just not a starter. It was all obvious to everyone watching the games
Great video Mr. Wu
The Ham Saga was diabolical.
What I hated most, after all that sports talking heads had the audacity to blame Everyone BUT Ham for getting fired.
