The Caruso decision is unforgivable absolute garbage front office.
When it happened I wondered why they would do that & the Russ trade & it all makes sense that Perlinka was being cheap. Caruso was also a great chemistry guy. They try to hold onto AR to not make the same mistake but imo should’ve moved him to improve the over all team. Russ I can see him telling Lebron to back the trade because it was short term & Davis money to sign someone bigger later .. he couldn’t make it happen. People like to blame Lebron but I’ve been said it was Perlinka. & to get rid of that front court , the very one they needed in years since was straight questionable .

@@JasonBrendan-td4qb Okay? Doesn’t change the fact that my point is we were playing LeWilt at the 5 a season later. That 2021 was so stacked Trez was getting DNPs as the reigning 6th man of the year, if that’s not flexibility then I don’t know what is.
@@jankarlo3798 the lakers didn’t need trezz. That’s why he was on the bench. The lakers needed big men who can protect the rim. That was the most important trait for a lakers center with AD and Bron. Even Gasol was too old. Drummond not a rim protector either. It just looks good/flexible cause of what we’ve had since. Lakers don’t need a center who can’t protect the rim OR shoot the 3. Gasol could do both but was way too old. Trezz and Drummond couldn’t do either.

If there’s ONE thing I’ve learnt as a Lakers fan over the past 4 years, it’s that this front office is GOD awful. The amount of talent that were traded for pennies on the dollar while Rob Palenka sat behind his desk eating twinkies and flirting with the boss is absolutely ridiculous. Here’s just a few to name them:
Demar Derozan, Paul George (TWICE), Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving, Jonas Valanciunas, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard, Buddy Hield, Chris Paul, DeJounte Murray, Alex Caruso, etc.
The list goes on and on and on and on and those are just SOME examples that Rob has missed entirely across TWO seasons. He needs to do SOMETHING. There are currently, I believe, 6 rebuilding teams with assets that I (as a Lakers fan) would WANT to help win a ring.. and Rob’s response to that knowledge was an absolute nobody from Toronto.

Lifer by the way, I’ve flown to plenty of Lakers game and been a fan since birth because of my family. Hard to be a “band wagon” when there’s NOTHING to jump onto. The team is a ceasepool as of now.

Bro he forgot one key detail lakers could’ve kept that same roster from 2020 with Caruso and in the off season they wanted to compete with the nets all they had to do was wait another week and BOOM DEMAR DEROZAN IS A LAKER SHIT MAKE NO SENSE THEY WERE THE BEST DEFENSE TEAM THE NETS REALLY WASNT AN ISSUE FOR THEM THE RUSS TRADE WAS SO DUMB
The triple towers was nice to have too, someone always had a big defensive night (mcgee howard davis,) and kept a fresh presence in the paint, many nights they threw a block party.
Yeah, and AD prefers to play the 4, so you need a good center who can take on those assignments.

They need a traditional center to allow AD to do his thing more freely, healthy AD is the #1 or #2 two way player in the league, his output is compromised by him needing to play Center.

Great video, but you can’t trace it all back to that 3-pointer, that’s a reach.
I always remember when Vogel tucked his tail against the Rockets and played small ball after losing Game 1 of their 2020 second round series. Javale McGee and Dwight Howard teaming with Anthony Davis gave the Lakers a revolving door of rim protection, but when they lost that game, it scared them from playing the way that earned them a top seed in the conference. They never really went back to it the rest of the playoffs, and that style of play eventually was so unappreciated that management didn’t work to bring it back.
I would have much rather seen what happened with the great Lakers role players, since it was more than just Caruso. Rajon Rondo also came up big in the playoffs. Thinking they could simply replace him with Schröder was so stupid.
Blame Jeanie Buss. She signed off on everything.

I started watching basketball in 2020, and im from California so lakers was a natural choice for my fav team. I loved russ in la I genuinely feel like if they kept caruso and Schroder that first russ year and bron n ad didn’t get injured they would’ve been amazing. Most People forget russ was averaging 18/7/7 yes russ has always had a below average 3pt shot, but a backcourt or him and Caruso would’ve been an amazing fit. Caruso doesn’t need the ball in his hands to be impactful his defense is Elite and his shoot he spaces the floor. I still dont get why they let him walk knowing they were bringing in a guy who lets face it couldn’t space the floor consistently.

The only way bron and AD was gonna work with russ was if both guys planned to shoot more. They didnt. It was a stupid trade if that was the case.
The Lakers have had the worst Front Office in sports for the past…maybe 15 years. We lucked out getting LeBron, and AD deciding to join him. But the problems we had-the problems that killed our chances of getting Kobe a competitive roster late in his career-remained still.
We won a chip, then decided to go for a retool by gaining two guys that we didn’t need, and one which was just a horrible fit. Complete identity change, but it still kinda worked.
So then we get injured all year in 2021 and it causes us to lose in the first round. Okay no problem-except the Lakers FO decided to blow it up including trading for Russell Westbrook and letting Caruso walk for Luxury Tax money.
We have the worst year possible, and we fire our championship head coach the next year because he couldn’t make Russ work. On a Lakers team with LeBron James.
Who do we trade for? The worst coach in the NBA m, as he would prove to be.
Rob Pelinka really messed up in the 2020 off-season instead of running it back you decide to blow up the championship team and since then we haven't been able to get to the finals SMH these off-season moves all these years haven't been good
Would be hype if you investigated the 'young Lakers'-whether the organization actually did a good job of developing their picks (DLo, Ingram, THT, etc) OR if they should have traded away the 2018 core for Anthony Davis instead of waiting a year for him to come in free agency.
The front office of the Lakers has been abysmal. I blame Kobe. It’s was his agent that Jeannie fell in love with and kicked Magic to the curb. Jerry West gone, Dr. Buss gone, family feud ensuing, Rambis infiltration, complete lack of leadership and the ultimate tell Magic had enough. Jeanie Buss should sell the team. She’s a poor manager and horrible leader. Very likable but even the bubble chip don’t count…sorry. Magic should become the new owner and kick Rambis, Rob, and Jeanie to the curb. There are no championships for the Lakers in the foreseeable future. It may take a decade…

Russ is a scapegoat. If you play on a Lebron team and win, then it's all about how Lebron led the team to victory. If you lose, then someone else is gonna be the scapegoat, whether his teammates, the coach, the FO, or the owner. And he choose people who will take the abuse. He doesn't want a coach or GM who will stand up to him. He wants all the power and control, but he won't take responsibility.

so basically injuries ruined the team, not that "moment" where lebron celebrated after a 3. If AD didnt get injured in the 21 playoffs they would have made a deeper run and most likely kept the team together. I mean they were up 2-1 and looking like they were gonna win the series on the team that eventually went to the finals.
I think the point is had the Lakers not traded for Schroeder they would have had Danny Green and all those trades after wouldn't have happened. Because Schroeder wouldn't have been there to have a bad playoff versus the Suns and thus having Green who would have preformed better than Schroeder did in the game AD got hurt. So yes that moment with Schroeder and LeBron wouldn't have happened because Schroeder wouldn't have been there.
If Schroeder wasn't there then the need to replace him because we declined the extension. So with Schroeder wanting to get paid in free agency there wouldn't have been a need to trade for a starting calibur PG and thus no WestBrook trade and getting rid of KCP, Kuz and Harrell.

Anyways like i said regardless of schroeder if the lakers made a deeper run in the 2021 playoffs which they would’ve done without INJURIES than they most likely wouldn’t have made any moves.
