This one has been waiting patiently in the queue for review for a while now! Is it the Seiko SARB for 2020? Well, only if you have put on weight during Corona! Great watch, don't get me wrong, but a bit chunky and a bit shiny in places. If you like it though, it is rock solid and great value. Cheers, Jody
The powermatic 80 is a beast, I am genuinely surprised how long it lasts. Tissot really are a great brand for jumping into Swiss.
Lasts a little over three days!
@@Mister_Phafanapolis pop it off at 11pm on thursday night and it will still be running at 7am on monday morning! very impressive!
And they're really weirdly accurate. All mine are well within COSC, one less than a second per day.
@@funkmon mine is -2 to 3 seconds a day! 😁
Just fyi, this movement and modifications are also widely used in Certina, Mido and Hamilton.
I got a Tissot Gentleman with a Powermatic 80 movement about three years ago. I ordered the blue dial version with brown leather strap. However, I replaced that strap with a blue Alligator skin one. Love it, love it! I wear it all the time. I occasionally put on a blue NATO Strap. At some point, I’ll add the metal bracelet. It’s my first Swiss automatic and Id recommend it to anyone.
Have owned the blue dial version for about 5 months now. Personally I think the blue dial is the way to go, over the black. I think it's a perfect everyday piece. Goes with any outfit, accurate, great power reserve, and a fair price. Wear it almost everyday.
Same here. I have the blue face. Can't be beat.
I have now the black dial (I’m a “all black” guy) very very good too 👌🏻👌🏻
Silver is pretty badss idk😅
You still use it? How is it doing?
@@ehabal-hanash2533 yes! still my go-to everyday piece for work. keeps great time, looks good on a variety of straps and the 80-hour power reserve means i rarely have to set it. highly recommended.
This is a truly brilliant watch. It is a Rolex OP date for those not stupid enough to give Rolex their hard earned money. It is seriously that good.
since i bought my first tissot 6 months ago, I stopped buying seikos
My all time favourite watch solid, accurate and reliable Tissot (mine quartz)
It’s nowhere near as good as the OP…… but it will do just fine until I (make the seriously stupid financial decision 🙄 and) get one 😉
A ‘Rolex OP date’ is a Rolex Datejust (that would be a seriously stupid financial decision though).
I got it i love it.however Theres twoajor issues with it wich doesnt get talked about enough when it comes to the Gentlemen being the best alternativ for an OP:
1. It doesnt tamper enough wich makes the bracelet Look stiff and cheaper then the actually nice finishing really is.
2. Its to big too chunky on the wrist.
@@prod.bynil-oh7440 hmm not on my wrist. 40mm is perfect on my 7.5 inch wrist.
I have had mine (blue dial on the brown strap) for about 10 months and I absolutely love it! Makes me happy when I see it being reviewed!
Looks like a frickin mirror.
Love it.
I was gifted this from my wife and I must say it's stunning. I normally wear chronograph style watches loving my Seiko Astron 2022 model but this Tissot is a keeper.
The last time I arrived this early I had to apologise to the missus 🤣 that is a damn fine dress watch Jody! Lucky man!
Ive never smuggled a budgie but would happily wear this watch anytime. Its simple but clean design is very pleasing.
Have the Green Dial, I actually wear it as a daily. I have a several other high priced luxury watches and I just love this watch for the price and quality.
I have this one, I love it. Quite the strap monster. The indices will blind you LOL. Only gripe is the polished center links. Mine has settled into running -1, pretty impressive all around for the price. In person the crystal doesn’t seem that reflective to me, but I don’t work in a room with studio lights.
Studio lights really changes the experience.
In normal lightning conditions these bling watches shines very well.
Mr.K Teddy Baldassar reviewed this watch and captured it really well.
I prefer the blue dial with brown leather strap.
Just got the one with the blue dial. Looks fantastic for the price.
I've bought through JOMAshop many times and have never had an unfavorable issue with them. I may just have to get myself this Tissot. Great review.
recently got a new Gentleman from JOMA, good price, everything was there but the warranty card
Helloooooooooo....Very good that you often includes Tissot in your reviews. They cover from sports to dress watches incredibly well. High quality, historycal swiss brand. The package, indeed is one of the finest, even when compared with some so called high-end brands. Congratulations ! Greetings from Brazil .
I have the blue face model as my daily. Very impressive piece from Tissot.
I sanded my links to brushed and it looks so much better than scratched. Just brush the whole thing or replace the bracelet immediately with a dark forest green or brown which matches nicely.
I have this watch(in blue) since 8 months or so. I find the size perfect for my 17cm/6,7" wrist. The lug to lug is around 49mm which is pretty big but not extreme. I have several watches smaller than this one but for such a dresswatch I like the wrist presence it provides. I am tempted to get the silver version as well...
Hope it comes with a polishing cloth ..... (& a guide to overcoming certain OCD issues)
A great watch! I own the Quarz Version and love it.
Jody, now that you've got the swanky new studio setup, I think the time is right to finally just up and put the rectangular Star Trek red alert light on the wall to go with the 'don't have to return the watch' klaxon. :D
Make it so number one.
I just swapped out the bracelet on my gentleman for a strap and it is that beefy bracelet that is responsible for a lot of the weight. Putting the waych on a leather strap makes this one a lot more comfortable.
I bought that exact watch a month ago Jody, my one has been running within COSC spec ever since. It may not directly replace the SARB but it definitely takes the crown of being the best value spec monster from a swiss watch maker. I only wish Tissot had something like Seiko's Diashield on there to protect from scuffs and scratches.
This Tissot model is definitely on my list to get for a while already ... great watch.
Got this on the leather deployant leather strap. Amazing accuracy within 2secs per day on wrist when broken in. Nice clean execution and incredible longevity of the PR. Nice everyday beater it’s understated but smart and versatile. On the strap it’s super comfortable on the wrist and can be adjusted on the fly unlike the scratch magnet bracelet. Possibly wears smaller on the strap. Legibility is absolutely no problem in all light conditions and if smudges are an issue again avoid the bracelet version. Apparently 22mm straps drop in quite easily. Overall it’s a lot of watch for the cash with a trusty ETA with 25 jewels and an antimagnetic silicon balance spring. If the black is too safe go with the blue.
Just picked up the silver dial version - it is amazing !!
Great review. I just wish all date windows were at the 6:00.
Your point about Seiko prices increasing at the end is on point. Swiss for that money is a steal.
When I found out recently that a large proportion of parts of these lower end Swiss brands are made in China I’m not so convinced they are ‘steals’ to be honest. Certainly a lot of money for the average Jo around the world. However maybe Tissot has a larger proportion of parts that are Swiss made...
Tissot is the most underrated watch brand of the market. Great product, great price.
I hope you know you are my favorite watch channel on RUclips love watching your videos and you helped me really get into the hobby of collecting watches
JOMW Jody is one of the few watcher reviewers that isn’t completely consumed and obsessed with status/logo/hype and rEsAlE vAlUe on his iNvEsTmEnT wAtChEs. It’s nice to see quality reviews of under a $1,000 watches (especially now that Random Rob has turned evil.)
@@Mister_Phafanapolis You raise a couple of questions. What is the significance of your spelling of resale value and investment watch, and why is RR evil now?
I own a Tissot Visodate. I picked the white dial version as the blue/black dials had problems with light reflection and legibility. You might find the same "solution" with this one. If they make a white dial, go for it.
I have a Tissot with the Powermatic 80 from a few years back and the antireflective coating is so good that in some light you can't tell it has a crystal at all.
Man, I'm in love with the Tissot Heritage Navigator, but I'm still hesitating because of that 43mm diameter and 50mm lug-to-lug...the gentleman series looks a bit more wearable!
I've bought 3 tissot watches in the past few months...beautiful watches
I just bought the blue dial version. Cannot wait to get it
something to be said about these movements.. just perfect for an everyday watch. low beat also means less wear on parts. wear your great watches and movements on the weekends and this thing will still be ticking monday morning. many models offer the powermatic 80 now
I'd be smuggling budgies now if it wasn't so cold ! Can't find the budgie. 🤪👍
Well you should be here in Queensland its really pleasant and warm. On the subject of BS there should be an age restiction and a weight restriction on people wearing them.... I have seen some very disturbing sights at the beach.
@@unknowntraveller8633 😂🤣😅😆😂
Dave..... Yeah Budgie Smugglers...... I had some Speedos, but embarrassingly the "S" fell off. Boom boom I'm here all week !!
@@paulandrews7622 🤣😂😅 you don't want to be on a beach wearing a statement like that ! 🔗🗝️
Dave.... Good advice lol
I've bought 3 watches from Jomashop including this one - with the blue dial and (ugly) brown band. I ended up ordering the steel bracelet, so I have what you are reviewing now, but with the beautiful dark blue dial with the sunburst effect. (I'm a sucker for blue dials) I also bought a Hamilton Khaki Diver ( batman coloring ) and an Orient that I ended up selling off a while back on eBay because I just never wore it. I absolutely LOVE this watch and I have it on right now while watching this. I have 7.25 in wrist and it fits perfectly on me. Put the date window at the 6 o'clock, and you have something that rhymes with the 2018 and up Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra at a MUCH more affordable price.
Alot of watch for the price. I am torn between this and a Seiko Alpinist. Thank you for helping decide with such a clear, thorough and thoughtful review.
I just bought my wife a Tissot mop for a great price. Now I need my matching Tissot watch
I got the Glycine GL0105 to assuage my SARB-envy and it's now my favorite watch. It doesn't have the 80-hour power reserve of the Tissot but it's a genuine Swiss hi-beat movement with a domed sapphire crystal. The faux military dial is a bit marmite; I love it. If you want a bigger version of the same watch, look for the GL0101. If you can find one, expect to pay just under $300 US. They are getting a bit scarce.
Saw this watch in the green dial about 2 weeks ago, and loved it. But...
I'm with you. The 21 mm lug width is the single reason I haven't bought this watch, and may never. I love to swap out my leather straps for different looks. I have a ton of 20mm straps (some of them running $100+), and would have to start over.
Wearing my Tissot p100 watching this. Love my little guy. Definitely a Tissot guy can’t wait to get the le locle
You can usually fit a 22mm strap into 21mm lugs easily. I sometimes wet the strap ends and let it dry into the 21mm lugs.
But worth noting that removal can be a bit hard with 22mm spring bars into 21mm lugs, but this is not an issue with drilled lugs.
Please do a review of the Certina ds action day-date! It's a similar style of watch with powermatic 80 movement and a dial reminiscent of the Aqua Terra. I'd love to see you review Certina on the channel.
Man that box is way better than most $5-10k watches!!
Their packaging is some off the best at any price1
I picked up a nice Tissot racing chronograph with a Valjoux 7750 from Joma for around 600 USD including taxes and shipping. Some great finds on there
excellent review, picked up a Gent last month and it is a very lovely piece.
if there were a 38mm version it would've been on my wrist long ago.
I really don’t understand why people obsess over a mm or two.
@@simonbailey2151 It matters especially when the dial takes up most of the space. But in it's more about the proportions, the case and the dial.
@@simonbailey2151 it's all about balance and aesthetic. The dials without a diver's big rotating bezel seem way too big
@@simonbailey2151 I admit it's a small thing but 2mm makes a big difference on a wrist like mine.
@@simonbailey2151 I have a Seiko SARB that's 38 and a SARX that's 40. The SARX is a nicer watch, but the SARB's size looks and feels so much better. So I'll go a week with one, then get annoyed and switch to the other. I wish my SARX was 37 or 38 - it'd never leave my wrist.
Tissot Couturier for me, eventually a PRX but at the moment I’m thoroughly enjoying my Casio Edfice EFB for that role. MotoGP and Tissot partnership makes it all the better, and Edifice sponsors Honda and is a good line for car enthusiasts. Amazing value for money from Casio Edifice and Tissot. 👌🏼
Lovely finishing, exactly what you'd expect from Tissot. Another Swatch Group beauty.
This watch is pure class. I love the design, I know the build quality is excellent, and that movement is stellar! I’ve got to save a few pennies now...
Personally, I love Tissot's Heritage line. Wearing a Tissot Heritage 1936 when I'm in the mood for something classic and unique. But I like this one as well.
I love it when you review entry level Swiss autos.i think that's the sweet spot everyone wants to see jody.that and Japanese autos and of course vostocks.lol good job jody.keep up the good work.
Not everyone. I couldn't care less about Swiss watches if I like the design I don't care where it comes from. Of all the reasons to get a watch made in swiss has never made the list.
Great engine.
My tissot gentlemen is with dark blue sunny shine.
It is in my opinion, as an owner of one, a humble piece of art. Its simplicity, just at a glance, says this watch brings something.
Yes indeed, it is a treasure, hidden inside its gentle movement is all about.
Not to say its beauty, polishing to perfection, every piece accurate in the right place . . .
It was a lovely connection between it and me at the first sight. This tissot kindly pull me to it.
It is a simple beautiful piece, it is low priced for a great human creation.
Wow, the first video with the new setup! Congrats Jody, I will always remember that sturdy Ikea shelf
I didn't want to say anything negative about your set in your revel video, but now that you have sorted it out, I will comment. It like it the way it is now, with more light. The first video was way to dark. This is much better! Good to see the clock and Mr. Erwine back as well :)
I believe I saw a watch shot in the Jimmy Stewart / Alfred Hitchcock movie "Rear Window" that Jimmy was wearing a Tissot. A classic brand that has remained affordable. A good Omega alternative for a Swiss watch.
"A good Omega alternative for a Swiss watch." Definitely. I would put Certina as an affordable Swiss brand alternative with a great history as well, considering the quality on those workhorses.
Longines
Absolutely. The swatch group are trying to position Omega alongside Rolex. Longines is now where Omega used to be. Tissot/averting/Radio/Mido all a notch below.
The SARB033 successor is the Knot AT-38.
No one outside of Japan would know about it, though.
Very good looking watch. My sarb 033 is much smaller looking on my wrist though so I'm not sure I'd compare them. I put a nice Crocodile strap on the sarb which really dressed it up. The Tissot looks great with the bracelet and that's how I would wear it. Kind of sporty dress.
Tissot also have one model in this watch line that has a full gold bezel (not plated or coated, but actual gold). That seems like a very interesting piece tbh.
Originally, formal dress required one to *not* wear a timepiece, since worrying about the time when being entertained by the hosts was considered rude manners.
While that may have changed practically, the number of people working in the office or at fancy dinners, who are apparently deep sea divers, going to 300m underwater after the main course, with a need for a diver's bezel to ensure their oxygen doesn't run out, is staggering.
Especially considering that true pioneers have reached Earth's orbit or summited Everest with nothing more than basic three-hand watches that didn't even offer shock protection.
I just got the titanium one with blue dial. The lack of AR coating made me return it. Such a beautiful dial to be blocked by all that reflection.
Other than that its a nice watch
I really like the Tissot brand and have 4 in my collection...!!! I have been researching the Gentleman recently and your review was very timely and informative as usual. I really think the Powermatic 80 is a super movement...very accurate, great power reserve and great value for money spent.
2 of my 4 Tissot's are have Powermatic 80 movements and they perform wonderfully. Not sure the Gentleman is for me ...a bit to much shine and bling for me ...but a Blue dial on a sharp leather strap is still under consideration. Thanks...Cheers..👍
Good point but 200 euros every 5 years for service that's a lot I think
38 and shorter lugs would be a sure buy. With the current size I may have to wait to try it on.
I got one the other day and it is brilliant this is worth the price for the quality
Love these videos J. Keep up the great work. You are the best in the business. R
I have the blue dial on leather of this watch, a very nice combo, but have to say the black on bracelet is awesome.
Jody, love the video but i'd love to see a list of best 'do it all' watches like this tissot. The criteria like you said, should be able to bring into a pool, but slip under the cuff well. Thanks!
Absolute beaty. 10/10
I like your meteorite dial wallpaper, kudos!
WOW,I FALL IN LOVE RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!! AMAZING LOOKING WATCH.....
Bought a Certina recently from an AD outlet in Portsmouth, UK for a very good price - some very good prices on Joma as well so might be worth taking this often overlooked brand for a review
Review the Seiko sur series of quartz watches ! They have sapphire crystals for under 150$
check out Starking, you can get a sapphire-crystalled automatic with date for less than half that
@@TheAechBomb yeah bro, but I like seiko's dial design, and I have an Invicta 8926OB already, I like the "set it and forget it" nature of quartz so I'm looking into that seiko.
@@ashwinramesh1356 that's fair, that's why I love my casio duro

@Truthfears Guilty even a $20 quartz keeps better time than the most well-adjusted rolex though
Absolutely gorgeous watch.
I don't think I'd ever be able to pull the trigger on this Tissot at this price with so many similar, less expensive, spec'ed other watches
love the understated type, considering it is a gada - agree on the big size for a 40, short lasting lume... and I'm ok with reflections... Enjoy mine but it is a large wear imho
I really love your channel here on RUclips👍 Watch all of your videos and enjoying them😍⌚😎 Thanks for your content!!! Kind regards from Germany
Thanks Max, much appreciated!
The sector dial versions add some sportiness and interest. Check 'em out! Quartz versions also available at a lower cost, also with sector dials.
Another option: Rose gold on white sunburst sector dial. Has 20mm lugs & slightly different proportions w/real 18k rose gold bezel. True luxe piece for not much green.
I love my Tissot’s👍🏼 This does look beautiful & very stylish Jody.😎
bought a tissot couturier quartz version in 2018 at 16000/- inr.....ticking perfectly still today.....yet i haven't changed the battery.....tissot is the best budget watch for entry level swiss time pieces.....
I have a 7" wrist as well and I have to wear the bracelet on my Tissot Automatics iii a little floppy too. I really dig Tissot and this one is a sweet alternative to the sarb033
I have the dark green version and i love it.
Love it. Tissot don’t get nearly enough love. The power reserve alone on their watches is ace. Glad to see the clock on the wall and the sound is much better (the potted plant will help)
No. The 'perfect' gentleman doesn't have a date complication. If it must have it, then it should be at 6 o'clock 😆
XD
A nice every day piece and the most honest review of this I've seen. My question would be based on price and quality if this isn't the best daily wearer under £1k, what is? Be great to see a video without any dive bezels similar to this. Great content as always Jody 👍
very very handsome watch.......one of the most good looking watch around that price point..🧐😍
I almost bought the white dial version a few weeks ago from Costco as I was a really good price, but then saw this black dial version and a blue dial version, so don't know which looks better
I got the green dial from Santa today. I love love love it!
butterfly clasp is a dealbreaker
Jodi can you please make a video or just talk briefly about that Rolex Wall Clock? I'd love to know about it!
I love this Tissot. I don't think I'd go for it as is, but if they made one with the Powermatic 80 GMT movement (a true GMT, unlike base ETA and Sellita GMTs) that would be a legendary watch.
Im a proud owner of this watch and i love it to death, would recommend it to anyone seeking a great anytime anyplace watch
This is what the Black Bay 41 (w/o diver bezel) should have been. Reduced negative space on the dial.
Love the new space age bachelor pad set! Some unsolicited advice - consider installing low wattage LED backlighting to the shelving. It'll add some additional dimensionality.
@James Blonde thank you for weighing in.
I thinking of getting this, a Zelos, or a Hamilton Khaki as my annual Christmas Present for Myself. I'm leaning towards this one, but my mind could change between now an then!

Liking the new backdrop
I came into this video thinking I wouldn’t be interested in this watch whatsoever but I am definitely pleasantly surprised
Nice job from Tissot with this one, the blue dial variant strikes me as a stunning value alternative to
the Omega Aqua Terra.
They're not even close.
Have a white Visodate very similar except color, great watch for the money.
Great job, love seeing the clock back
