“All-in-one” watches tend to be my favorite style. It may not be logical, but I like having a collection of multiple “all-in-one” timepieces, as I’m often not a big fan of complications. I just love the beauty of relative simplicity.
Leather strap on the AT is a good call. Polished center links have just never sat right with me for some reason. You should look into the new green dial version too, it's pretty stunning!
I agree. I have the current Aqua Terra with the blue dial… among too many other watches. And I would agree, I’d be content if need be with the AT as my only watch.
The Aqua Terra 38mm would be my choice as well for a GADA watch. When it comes to Rolex, I prefer the OP 39mm. The 3-6-9 of the Explorer makes it just that tad too sporty
Yeah but i want to sell all my collection and get rid of this hobby because its going heavy on my wallet 😂 Also whenever i saw a beautiful watch i just trying to own it thats the main problem in this hobby😢you can never complete your collection
@@nathanf3230 That's the problem with Omega... they have so much wonderful attributes but always fail to deliver at the final mile. Omega should be setting trends not following them but they still don't get it.
@@GavOwenVideos I love omega but I do wish they thinned up their watches too. Some of them are tough to slide under a shit sleeve. I’d love to wear my diver 300m with a dress shirt but it’s so thick that I have to kinda fight with it to get my sleeve over it to tell the time and back over it so I don’t look like I’m incapable of dressing myself haha. I know they could do it, omega has swatch money. I think they could easily start to set trends. They have done a good job with the diver 300m, that consistency is smart, people like familiar. Hopefully they keep similar design language on their chronos (especially those incredible ceramic ones with the 9300/9900), aqua terra and planet ocean.

I've found since getting my Longines Flagship watch that I am having a hard time trying to get myself to wear any of my others in the collection. I'm retired now and never dress up, and this is definitely a simple, classic white dialed dress watch with alligator strap. I love it! It's thin, is proving to be very accurate, and strangely I don't find myself knocking the crystal or bezel against things as with my thicker watches. But I've got my Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic and the Khaki Navy Pioneer with Black Dial that are calling for me to wear the (especially the latter). Thinking I could have been happy simply collecting Hamilton and Longines watches.
Thinking about buying my first, everyday watch, and thinking about a Longines Spirit. I like its looks, 100 meters water resistant and very accurate. Mmm :)
Teddy great recommendations. In the "Under $1K" category, I think you should consider the Seiko Presage, they are versatile, especially in steel a bracelet, and the beautiful dials. I have a two-tone Rolex DJ, a Longines Legend Diver and a Bulgari Diagono and most people don't even notice them. However, when I wear the Seiko Presage I get so many compliments on it.
The Aquaterra is a great one watch collection. For me, my first “one and done” was a Panerai PAM312 (due to the straps available). Of course, it became my “jeans and a t-shirt” watch later as I expanded my collection. I also think Sinn and Oris offer great options for a first automatic watch with great versatility.
It’s crazy how we watch lovers absolutely love a ‘one watch collection’! I reckon the Hamilton is my fave one watch collection. I actually have a collection of ‘one watch collections’
We love the idea of a 1 watch collection, not the reality. If you get to the point where you have to stop, that means no more watching watch youtube channels.
At the beginning of our love for watches/timepieces, we bought one versatile watch to wear everyday. And then we fell in love with another versatile watch that we could wear everyday. Today we have 5 or more versatile watches we can wear everyday, every ocassion. That's a "one watch collection" collection 😁
I have a Hamilton Khaki Field 42mm automatic and I love it. I've always been impressed with its accuracy. About a year ago, I kept it running for two weeks by winding it every other day. After those two weeks, it was ten seconds fast. Superlative Chronometer performance for about five hundred bucks. I love that watch.
I’m with you! I have the Hamilton Khaki Field 42 titanium with the blue dial and leather strap. It is a great watch. Great, great value for the money. [I recently picked-up the titanium bracelet. It’s a nice alternative to change things up every now and then,…but very difficult to change. I had to take it to my authorized dealer.]. Enjoy!
If I’m getting a watch between 5-10k it would definitely be a Grand Seiko Spring Drive. Specifically I’d want the SBGY007. Just beautifully engineered and designed.
@@twitchmania7614 because watches are jewelry and having a super expensive piece of jewelry that is indistinguishable at a distance from any $10 unbranded quartz watch is a bit of a downer I'd imagine.
@@mike4402I don’t think that is what gorillawear1065 meant. I arrive at that conclusion because I imagine 99% of people wearing a grand seiko didn’t buy it for the brand recognition. The type of person that wears a luxury watch primarily because it is identifiable at a distance simply wouldn’t buy a grand seiko in the first place.
That Grand Seiko though! Daym, son! I never really was interested in Grand Seiko from the start, but that white textured dial is extreme class. And I do like myself a textured dial. I bought myself a green Seiko mockingbird, and it fits well and serves me great in everyday wear, but that is a whole new level and super versatile with a suit
I bought an AT last spring and absolutely love it. The only thing keeping it from being a perfect watch in my opinion is that it is impossible to see the time at night. The lume is weak and the minute hand blends in with the tooth markers around the dial. But all in all it has been a great daily driver for me, going from the office to the beach.
Picked up a MAMACOO's watch as my first watch last month and I’m absolutely in love with it. Perfect size, looks elegant, very comfortable. Now my only problem is holding off from buying more watches so quickly!
Ball Fireman Enterprise is also a great option around the $1,000 mark. Picked up one recently and it's a really great everyday watch which also looks great with a suit.
The more I look at this, the more I see the Sinn making a lot of sense for someone who wants to stay in a reasonable budget and own a nice 1 timepiece. Thank you
Great video overall. For me it boils down to the Omega Aqua Terra and Tissot Gentleman (or PRX). If you can spend over $4K the AT is my choice against just about everything this side of $15K, as there's really not much more to be asking for until you start spending extra for Haute Horology finishing. I do wish the 41mm was 1-1.5mm thinner, but not enough for me to consider something else instead. Meanwhile, if you can't stretch to the AT (i.e. Me), the Tissot Gentleman and PRX do pretty much everything every watch in the $1-4K category can do (matching or beating them in power reserve and sometimes accuracy), while still being attainable enough that most looking at
You’ve given us some tough choices. I love the Tudor and the Omega, but I love the innovation and accuracy of the Spring Drive and the lightness of the titanium case and bracelet of the Snowflake.
My watch was purchased 2 years ago from amzwatch and, to this day, it still looks and runs as well as it did the day it arrived. That movement has never missed a beat despite never having been serviced. I can't complain about that.
Hamilton Khaki, Tissot Gentleman (I own both), Omega & the Grand Seiko would be my picks here but although possibly a tad controversial in the watch community I’d give an honourable mention to the very beautiful Tag Heuer Carrera ‘time only’ - underrated watch in my opinion
Oh boy, a list! Seiko 5 SRPE53 Orient Maestro Hamilton Khaki Field Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 Longines Conquest 39mm Sinn 556 I Tudor Black Bay 36 Nomos Club Campus Neomatik Omega Aqua Terra 41mm Grand Seiko Snowflake Rolex Explorer 124270 JLC Polaris Automatic
I own the 38mm Aqua Terra (6.75" wrist). It is a true all rounder. It could be a one watch collection nearly anyone could be proud of. My only complaint is the lack of micro adjustment in the bracelet. Inexcusable in 2021.
Not sure why the Longines legend diver was not mentioned. It offers versatility, attractive design, quality, value, and heritage that is hard to beat. Depending on wrist size, you can go for the 36 or 42mm variant.
The Hamilton Khaki Field Watch Automatic has been my "one watch" for many years now. I'm adding to it the collection now, but it has been the perfect under-$1000 daily wearer.
My favorite watch of all time is Explorer 36mm. I purchased this watch as a birth year for my son. It’s timeless, it’s beautiful and it’s a Rolex. I engraved all his information on the back case. His first and last name, birth year, birth time, weight and height. In my opinion Explorer 36mm would fit on the wrist of any teenager. And will forever remain in their collection.
I’ve got the Sinn 556i and totally agree that it’s a great choice for a one watch collection. I have other watches, but the 556i is the one I wear the most.
Grand Seiko Snowflake definitely is.. it's beautiful, the dial is mesmerizing, spring drive is a true innovation (IF the Swiss is the one who created this, spring drive will be over the world now, unfortunately it isn't) and the 6K price with built quality that might worth over 10k in a Swiss brand watches, or more..
You're right about many of us watch enthusiasts finding it impossible to own just one watch. If I had to choose one from this list it would be the JLC Polaris (which I did not know existed).
I like the idea of a one watch collection. But in practice I perfer 2 watches. 1 sports watch 1 dress. I think it better to have a watch that can reallx live up to the occasion not just being pushed to do all.
I can appreciate the sentiment, but you could be surprised on what a great aftermarket strap can do to dress up a sports model, assuming it doesn’t have an integrated bracelet of course.
As mentioned somewhere, a pity the Longines Spirit didn't make it to this list. The specs and finishing for the money are just unbeatable. Sporty enough and dressy enough alike. Got the black dial 40mm version, and if not for the sentiment I have for the rest of my watches...this could well be an only watch for me.
My first nice watch is a Ball Fireman Racer. Wore it just about every single day for 5 years straight. From the office to the manufacturing floor, job interviews, wedding speeches, weekends and weeknights, driving my sports car on multiple racetracks, many nights winter camping in the snow at over 10k ft, even did a 30 mile ski crossing of the Teton range with it... It seems to look dressy, rugged, youthful, and refined all at the same time. It has been a superstar of versatility. I added a couple more to my collection for scuba diving and aviation for the specific functionality but the Ball is still the best expression of how I see myself.
We need a revival of the SARB033, or at least a new Seiko 5 line that's around 38mm and more dressy. I can imagine the SNKL41 won't hold out much longer. The SRP would be perfect if it had explorer dimensions and wasn't so sporty.
The Ball Marvelight range of watches are a much overlooked option. Very good bracelets, tritium dials, 100m of water resistance and a choice of top grade ETA2842 or in house 80hr power reserve movement, some with chronometer certification. I would also include the quartz Grand Seiko watches which make excellent everyday watches and are usually slimmer than the spring drive watches. Finally, the Baume & Mercier Baumatic watches. Anti-magnetic, 120hr power reserve, only 50m water resistance but that is ok for normal swimming.
I’m a bit of a fragrance lover and you’ll see a lot of videos “most versatile fragrances” those fragrances that work in any situation at anytime. I always say go for 2 fragrances (1 for warm weather 1 for cooler weather) with your watch I’d say the same 1 for casual days and 1 for more formal situations (work/business whatever)
I’ll never sell my first automatic watch, and I’ll always need a beater (Casio f91w currently) but if i could only own one it would have to be the Lange 1 moonphase in black
Lange is too delicate to use as an only watch. Most people need a tough but elegant watch as a do everything watch. I suppose that wouldn't apply if you don't do any physical activities.
It's good to reward ourselves sometimes . While I'm not one to spend on high-end watch (I spend too much money on travel, lol), I can appreciate your gorgeous and timeless watch. I love how it's a symbol of all your hard work. And i choose NKUWAN every time honestly
I could never own just one watch, but I am a collecting anomaly in that I wear the same watch everyday. I have about 6 watches at the moment, but every single day I pick up and wear my Lorier Hyperion. It's the only watch I've worn for nearly a year. I love watches too much not to collect them, keep them around, look, and admire them -- but my Hyperion is that one I wear day in and out.
Excellent video, my friend. Just so everyone knows, Tudor no longer uses the ETA 2824 in the Black Bay 36. Within the last year or so, they switched to the Sellita SW200-1. Since the Swatch Group has heavily limited the use of ETA movements in non-Swatch brands, like Tudor, these brands have had to turn elsewhere.
Excellent article. It's important to consider this as many watches these days can be lifetime heirloom pieces. The one watch that does it for me is the Tudor Black Bay 54. It's charming, robust, dressy, functional and versatile. Tudor will hopefully stand the test of time for lifelong servicing / repairs. Current wearing habits on wrist daily and face down at night returns +0.3 sec/day. Happy wearing to you all!
A happy owner of Longines conquest 43 auto sun-ray blue here. I acquired my time-piece on my 20th birthday and managed to wait till the sale in that jewelry store, so that the final price with tax was around 1050 USD. For that price: a good finishing, well assembled bracelet, striking water resistance and 3.5Hz Longines' proprietary movement. The ticking sound, bracelet and dial, all that reminds me of its 'older brother' model Omega Aquaterra. Aspects that not as good from design solely: large numerals irritate me and polished parts of the links could have been "wider". Thus I kinda look back for that piece because it is indeed an upgrade in every aspect excluding the price of course. However, at the end of the day anyone should understand that it is an entry level option, so it doesn't have to be perfect. If anyone hesitating in that price range I can definitely recommend to do this jump over Tissot/Hamilton/Certina, but things I just wrote and easily scratched highly polished parts are a warning of some kind (I know its applicable for all polished models, but seems especially relevant in terns of daily wear as everyday watch).
My mind got set on wanting a watch. An automatic Longines Conquest was one of the one i liked and seriously concidered, but i wasnt looking at above or under x price, but a rough price area, where i might want to stretch. Ended up with another watch, but if the chance comes up in the futrue i might do the deal for one.
My favorite watch I own is the perfect one watch collection in my opinion and no one's talked about it. It's my Seiko SNE329. It's under the radar and not popular, but it's so functional and is the only watch that fills every situation for me except swimming. It's a perfect watch that's a hidden gem to me. If I had to keep only one of my watches, this would be my choice
Great video! Made me realize that this flexible style of watch is my favorite. I have two on this list - the Snowflake and the "Dress SKX," which is a total strap monster. Works on bracelet, silicon, NATO, you name it!
Great video! All of these are fantastic choices. The one watch I would change is the Explorer. In my opinion the Date Just is a better only watch for under $10k. The move back to 36mm for the Explorer I believe hurts wearability for the more casual watch owner, which is probably someone who is more likely to own just one watch. I also believe if your going to own just one watch you will want a date function. Personally, that is what I would suggest to someone who just wants one watch in that price bracket. Having said all of that I was given the choice in 2019 of either a 39mm Explorer or a 41mm DJ, blue dial, smooth bezel and oyster bracelet and chose the Explorer but it isn’t my only watch.
I went for the 38mm Hamilton khaki field automatic on the bracelet last year as my daily do it all watch and I couldn’t be any more happier with it. It’s very easy to dress it up or down just by changing straps. Almost anything works with it
I’m not all that knowledgeable in watches so I don’t really know what you meant by what’s happening to the Rolex brand recently. Can you please shed some light on it or perhaps make a video? I’m interested to know more.
Hey hey! Finally, the JLC Polaris getting some spotlight time. How is this watch not talked about more? Looks, quality (built by the "watchmaker's watchmaker") and price. The trifecta, the hat trick...win, place and show. If you can't tell I really dig this timepiece.
Love the series. Nothing like you. OK, question here: Why is it that the crystal is not usually recessed in the bezel for protection? Nothing more frustrating than a scratched crystal. Perhaps they expect the watch to go to dinner/show and then be removed?? Must I remove my watch to work on my bike/car???
A very good mix of jumping-off points at different price points for that one-and-only watch collection. I’d prefer the Rolex Explorer, though I loathe the current company philosophy/strategy creating the difficulty of obtaining a piece. Well done, as always, Teddy.
Does one watch make for a collection? IMO, probably not, but it doesn't stop collectors from imagining a watch that is, if not the holy grail, at least represents the end of the line. And, in general, it is rare to find people with only one watch, and to the extent you find these people, they are more likely than not to wear smart a smart watch. I think though, this exercise is not a complete waste of time as you could potentially find that 90% watch that you wear most of the time. And in this regard, worth looking at some of the pricier watches and asking yourself, would I give up most of my watches for brand or model X? This is a tough call. I might give up a bunch of watches for an Omega Aqua Terra. How many? That is hard to say.
That’s what I’m here for- I have a bunch of watches…. But looking at “one watch” in a much higher price category than I’m playing in now. Looking to jump into the 3-4x money category above where I am at now so it would be more of an all-rounder.
@@martintanz9098 sort of. There’s a windfall ahead and I’m getting ready for it selling some things that just don’t get wrist time anymore. I just got a tutor royal so that is making 8 seikos look unnecessary. But I also did just get a really nice Seiko diver…
@@PhaedruS007 the problem as I see it is, you won't get much for 8 seikos. At least not enough to buy a high end piece. When I say let go of a bunch of pieces, I literally mean that as you will lose money on them.
The Tissot Gentleman looks great. According to some sources I've found, the Gentleman is using the C07.811 (25 Jewels, regular escapement) instead of the listed C07.111 (23 Jewels, synthetic escapement) movement in the video.
Teddy could you do a video like this for bigger guys? It's hard to find a classy looking watch that doesn't look like a ladies watch as a giant. The bigger watches tend to be really gaudy IMO. I'm 6'9" with a 7.75" wrist and my beloves Nomos Neomatik Ludwig 41 looks like a ladies model on me.
My 2010 Breitling Aerospace has been my one and done watch for 13 years now, and I still enjoy looking at the dial. No need to worry about taking care of more than 1 watch.
Interesting choices but I think you could add to that list of the higher priced watches the Cartier Santos range. It comes in a variety of sizes, has the epic quick switch strap system and the amazing easy link change system plus you get a steel and a leather bracelet in the price. Oh and they are generally available from stock. One other thing is they hold their value well and just one more thing the older and slightly battered they are the better looking they become.
I just bought my first every day carry luxus watch: The Tag Heuer Carrera 41mm Day Date Model in Blue. I like the compromise between classy and sporty.
Agree on AquaTerra, but just don't care about the teak dial. Would prefer a nice plain textured dial like my older model. More classy and plays wonderfully with light and sun. Sometimes details lies in simplicity.
The Formex Essence is a great sporty choice but can also be dressed up with straps. Also, my other choice from Omega would be the older 41mm Seamaster Railmaster (before the revamp with the brushed dial). It's a fantastic, more affordable alternative to a Rolex Explorer for people with larger wrists. I simply cannot wear the 36mm Explorer because of a large wrist size and this Omega is a perfect alternative. For a more left-field option I would suggest the Panerai Radiomir 1940. While Panerai gets overlooked for being notoriously oversized, there are 42mm options if you look hard enough; this specific model included. It is simple and elegant yet robust. It will get the job done in sportier applications if you put it on an engineer bracelet or a nato while still being unassuming enough to pass for a casual piece if you put it on a strap.
I always thought the Cartier Santos would make an excellent one-watch option, as well as the Rolex Oyster Perpetual with Rhodium dial. The Aqua Terra is a great choice, though.
The Cartier Santos de Cartier is a great one-watch option. I have the large Grey with ADLC bezel. It is a beautiful watch, very functional and versatile. The addition of the black rubber strap combined with the quick switch feature makes this a formidable watch. BTW - The green dial with the leather alligator strap,…Mama Mia! It is the most beautiful men’s watch I have ever seen.
8:17 the clasp should be centred on the wrist for a better fit. Otherwise find it sits a little lopsided. I recommend you swap a link from the 6 o’clock side to the 12
Great video, Teddy! What I noticed unfortunately is that almost all the brands have risen their MSRP considerably, that Aqua Terra for 5700USD a year ago is now in Germany 6300€ instead. Take care !
I got myself a Longines Conquest and 9 times out of 10, its the one I’ll choose to wear out of all my other watches. Awesome, super legible dial and insane 300m water resistance all in a sport watch makes it perfect for literally everything.
This is an excellent list, which is not a surprise. I agree on the polishing on the Aqua Terra. If the center links were brushed, it would be perfect. The 41mm wears beautifully on my 7.25" wrist. I know Jody from JOMW had his center links brushed on his AT, but you've got to really trust the person doing it to not mess it up.
A bit of a facetious comment but honestly this one, the Casio Edifice EFV-110d-1AVUE with a date complication and black dial. It has been dubbed the Casio Aqua Terra and it comes in two case sizes about 37-38 or 40 (on the EFV100). It comes in white and blue as well. If you are not into collecting, or luxury watches this is as much as you will ever need. You might pay 80 dollars US for one maybe less.
Good choice - but the I do have the smaller size . It's my AQ homage , plus is there a strap that doesn't go with it? My flashy quartz is a Casio Oceanus ( but the bracelet is a b:%$%! to size) but it's practical & pretty.
@@jaysterling26 Yeah it's a real strap monster. The white dial also comes with a kind of tan strap. I have the smaller one with the black dial because it's the Goldilocks just right option. The larger one buries my wrist even at 7 inches. Among really affordable watches this has to be about the best. I've had nightmares sizing bracelets at the lower end price wise with Seikos and Casios so I really do feel your pain. 👍
Great picks, Teddy. I have a Hamilton Khaki in Titanium that I absolutely love. It's so light, and keeps very accurate time. There's no way I could limit myself to just one watch. I'm trying to slim down my collection now, but there's at least 4 watches that I can't get rid of! (including my Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean, Ball Engineer III, Breitling SuperOcean, and Rolex OP41). I don't have an AquaTerra, but I like everything about that watch -- especially in a green dial.
Seiko sharp edge (regular or GMT) white would be my choice for around 1000-1500. Aqua Terra is also my choice for the bigger budget. Great choices and great video! 👍
Loved the video! So many good suggestions 😍 Rolex Datejust 41 would be my dream "one watch collection", personally. But would not be surprised if I change my mind within a year 😂
Despite the price, for me the Aqua Terra is THE ONE, I do love the look and technic of this watch!!! The Aquaterra in sandstone, the Seamaster Heritage blue, the Breitling Chronomat GMT white, and a special watch like the CW Bel Canto, all scenarios and uses covered!
I actually am against them taking away the dislike button. I left this comment on channel that covered this change: “As a creator and someone who has built a business off RUclips, I don’t like the move to get rid of the dislike button. I know it’s helpful for me as a user of the platform to see the like/dislike ratio when clicking on a video to determine whether it is worth continuing to watch. This is one of the first things people notice and it helps sell your content before it even begins. The dislike bombing to troll that happens is unfortunate, but in the vast majority of instances I think the dislike helps great channels separate from the competition and assists viewers in determining quickly if something is worth the long viewing.”
*The phrase* *_"price point"_* *has infected and taken over consumer product discussions.* Isn't it better to say *_"price range"?_* The same item can be either discounted or sell well above the suggested retail price.
Hey Teddy love your videos! do you have a video on your video setup? Would love to know what lenses and lights you use, the shots look epic! I need to take some videos of some Watch straps!
“All-in-one” watches tend to be my favorite style. It may not be logical, but I like having a collection of multiple “all-in-one” timepieces, as I’m often not a big fan of complications. I just love the beauty of relative simplicity.
Completely agree with this!
Best of both worlds: a collection of _one and done_ watches !
I agree
Its abit contradictory or ironic to me though so I keep flipping my watches until I find that one watch..

If I absolutely had to pick just one watch, it would be the Aqua Terra. Blue or gray teak dial, leather strap.
Leather strap on the AT is a good call. Polished center links have just never sat right with me for some reason. You should look into the new green dial version too, it's pretty stunning!
Same here.

I and the blue aqua terra auto and the white in quartz, the quartz get the most wear out of everything
The Aqua Terra 38mm would be my choice as well for a GADA watch. When it comes to Rolex, I prefer the OP 39mm. The 3-6-9 of the Explorer makes it just that tad too sporty

At the beginning of our love for watches/timepieces, we bought one versatile watch to wear everyday. And then we fell in love with another versatile watch that we could wear everyday. Today we have 5 or more versatile watches we can wear everyday, every ocassion. That's a "one watch collection" collection 😁
A collection of one watch collections? Wouldn’t that just be a “watch collection”? 😂
@@willy4370 haha yes, what’s in your ‘one watch collection’?
@@jimv.6631 exactly! 😆😅
You really bring a smart perspective to this affliction we call "collecting."
Definitely do a Part 2 next year!
Affliction… yeah it truly is an affliction
And after a while you will realise that it does not feel luxurious.
@@gorillawear1065 why?
That's a shame for that price, I would have hoped for potent lume!
@@paulbonaventura4969 Out of all of the things required to make a great watch, lume would be at the very bottom.
Me), the Tissot Gentleman and PRX do pretty much everything every watch in the $1-4K category can do (matching or beating them in power reserve and sometimes accuracy), while still being attainable enough that most looking at
Agree with your thoughts. I was a little surprised and disappointed Teddy didn’t include the Cartier Santos de Cartier.
@@briankenny6883 True. The AT might be my pick for that price point, but the Santos would be my second pick, so it definitely deserved a mention.
My dady bought one NKUWAN and he loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when he went out with it.
What color gentlemen did you get? For the longest time I was looking at it until I actually fell in love with the prx
Oh boy, a list!
Seiko 5 SRPE53
Orient Maestro
Hamilton Khaki Field
Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80
Longines Conquest 39mm
Sinn 556 I
Tudor Black Bay 36
Nomos Club Campus Neomatik
Omega Aqua Terra 41mm
Grand Seiko Snowflake
Rolex Explorer 124270
JLC Polaris Automatic
I own the 38mm Aqua Terra (6.75" wrist). It is a true all rounder. It could be a one watch collection nearly anyone could be proud of. My only complaint is the lack of micro adjustment in the bracelet. Inexcusable in 2021.
I have a Longines Conquest silver dial as my only watch. Wear it everyday to work and also when going out. I love it.
It is a great watch- it’s my daily.
Great watch. Mine is the 42mm auto
The prices in two years 📈
My favorite watch of all time is Explorer 36mm.
It’s still a top 3-5 most worn watch for me. Some might say it’s boring but it simply works and is rarely out of place.
I love the SARB and wear mine often but part of the charm was it's price under $300. A reissue would be $500 if not $1k.
@@mattc3929 this is it. The SARB, and it is my favorite in my modest collection, hit so hard for the price
TissotGentlemant-Blackbay36-AquaTerra-SnowFlake-Explorer... This is my dream lineup you got it in 1 video! Thanks Ted!
Yeah.
Great video...only error is the GS has better movement finishing than the JLC.
I've been considering a Falcon 2 for a while now, but haven't pulled the trgger yet. It seems like a great watch for $500.
I adore my Falcon II. It crept unexpectedly to my #1 spot.
I own a Longines Conquest 41mm automatic black dial great daily business watch..300 meters water resistance…
How come they don't use in house movement at that price point?
@@almac9203 the main reason I haven’t got one yet. Feels like they could update it any time now.
One of cleanest sweeps 😂 spring drive is the cleanest sweep anywhere period.
I would add the Oris big crown propilot, one of my favorites watches at pretty much any price point, and very versatile.
I have the Reno Air Race edition. Love it.
Great pick.
Maybe pointer date
Excellent article. It's important to consider this as many watches these days can be lifetime heirloom pieces.
The one watch that does it for me is the Tudor Black Bay 54. It's charming, robust, dressy, functional and versatile.
Tudor will hopefully stand the test of time for lifelong servicing / repairs. Current wearing habits on wrist daily and face down at night returns +0.3 sec/day. Happy wearing to you all!
Would have loved to see a cartier santos on this list (maybe as an honorable mention)
@Jake Roberts yes
I absolutely love that Grand Seiko - such a beautiful face with a mesmerizing sweep. Great video!
For me it would be new Omega seamaster professional 300, which I have a 2010 Quartz one.
Aqua Terra and SMP300 are good quality for bucks watches.
Great video! Made me realize that this flexible style of watch is my favorite. I have two on this list - the Snowflake and the "Dress SKX," which is a total strap monster. Works on bracelet, silicon, NATO, you name it!
I’d take the GS. Currently have an IWC 43 Pilot and love it but want to expand pretty badly
As someone with no history or knowledge of watches at all... That Grand Seiko with the spring drive looks so cool
I went for the 38mm Hamilton khaki field automatic on the bracelet last year as my daily do it all watch and I couldn’t be any more happier with it. It’s very easy to dress it up or down just by changing straps. Almost anything works with it
Same, got it last week on bracelet. I love it
If I had to pick one, it would be the Grand Seiko. That spring drive is simply amazing
It very helpful. Thank U. U put it in order and logical way to choose the right ones. They are worth the money.
@@PhaedruS007 so have you stopped buying less expensive watches and started your forever watch fund?
@@martintanz9098 sort of. There’s a windfall ahead and I’m getting ready for it selling some things that just don’t get wrist time anymore. I just got a tutor royal so that is making 8 seikos look unnecessary. But I also did just get a really nice Seiko diver…
@@PhaedruS007 the problem as I see it is, you won't get much for 8 seikos. At least not enough to buy a high end piece.
When I say let go of a bunch of pieces, I literally mean that as you will lose money on them.
Tudor really produces some quality watches, especially at their price point. That would be my pick. Great video Teddy!
For under $1000 the new Christopher Ward C63 Sealander offers tremendous value, and I think one of their cleanest, most versatile designs yet.
I would direct you to the Panerai brand. Top shelf luxury quality and a specialist in larger sizes.
Breitling has big watches.
I think Panerai are perfect for bigger guys. 45mm
My 2010 Breitling Aerospace has been my one and done watch for 13 years now, and I still enjoy looking at the dial. No need to worry about taking care of more than 1 watch.
Cartier Santos Medium in full stainless steel is definitely a one watch collection.
My one watch is a Seiko 7N43-OBG8 which still looks great (dark blue sunray dial), works perfectly, and only cost me $100 five years ago.
Great to see the JLC Polaris getting some exposure, criminaly over looked.
Recently obtained an Essence Leggera 41 from them, it's been absolutely amazing in both suit, casual, or work out attire.
I just bought my first entry level watch based on your recommendation Teddy.
I got a PRX blue for £252 new. & I absolutely love it
What on earth were Longines thinking of when they decided against lume on that lovely blue dial. Random choice.
I know, kills it for me
I bought a Club Sport neomatik 39 tabac a week ago for $3.5k, and love it. If I were you, I'd have included that :)
I always thought the Cartier Santos would make an excellent one-watch option, as well as the Rolex Oyster Perpetual with Rhodium dial. The Aqua Terra is a great choice, though.
Good suggestions!
Take care !
Too expensive for a simple SS watch with old technology movement.
Hi! What are your thoughts on Rolex Explorer vs Black Dial Oyster Perpetual 36?
I’d really like to see under $15K, under $20K, and under $25K for a one watch collection.
If we people like this we can do a part 2 next year 👍🏻
