I’ve had an Omega Aqua Terra co-axial for 5 years and it is an amazing everyday watch. Amazing quality, beautiful (display back) and accurate in house movement, that flys under the radar unlike Rolex. Breitling Superocean Heritage is a great choice for a dive watch around $5k.
Excellent video, as always, Teddy! Would love to see these at every value tier, starting at $1,000. I imagine these would be similar to your “watch collection” videos with various budgets, except obviously focusing on one piece per budget.
The Longines master collection chronograph is amazing..I also own the omega speed master ref 3331.20 triple calendar with moonphase is a great choice too.
Hi Teddy, love your selection! One important detail concerning IWC. They have their own “measurements” about water resistance. Their 60m is actually close to a usual 100-150m resistance from other brands. I went snorkelling with my Mark 18 and it worked without an isssue

I feel Chopard often get overlooked due to their jewelry side, but people often forget they started off as watchmakers and still make killer time pieces!
My first luxury watch is an Omega AT white dial 41 mm with the orange seconds hand. I absolutely love this watch so much I forget I have other watches this thing never leaves my wrist. I do however much prefer this watch on a nato strap vs it being on the bracelet, I feel it gives it more presence on the wrist, and more sporty look. So glad the AT made it on your list as an everyday watch. Tudor GMT or SMP300 blue is next on the list for me!
Hi Teddy. Great videos. Would like to see you do a 'wristcheck' as I find myself constantly trying to work out what watch you are wearing. Keep up the great work.
Yeah Tudor occupies that range quite well . But they are no match for Omega in product to product comparison. The Omega always feels more expensive. Nor does Tudor have the recognition etc. That means only one thing. Omega will move upmarket. Buy that SMP 300 now😉
For a daily 'one-watch' I'd suggest the Nomos Club Sport Neomatik 42 Date Blue. It's as dressy as the OP or Aqua Terra but with the 300m water resistance of a Submariner, fully lumed, and a slim classicly beautiful though modern engineered movement. The only downside seems to be the price - at just under $4K it's just too cheap!
@@polygoncoco Point taken, but it works fine on my 7.5" wrist and is probably OK down to 7". It's entirely possible they may come out with a smaller version later, though with a smaller movement you'd lose the 'big date' appearance and other advantages of the new DUW6101 movement. This is Nomos's first modern style watch on a metal bracelet, but it most likely won't be their last.
The Aqua Terra is such a beast. I had the Omega Boutique through in 2 extra straps and all of a sudden I have 3 very different watches that covers tough to tuxedo.
What I really like about the aqua terra is that because of the shape of the hour markers, they point towards the center point of the dial. And that the back is transparent, so you can see the movement 😊
Some really good choices Teddy. I think I pretty much guessed most options. The one I didn't get was the IWC but I'm not too familiar with the brand at this price point. Revero v Tank, for me it would be the JLC for all the reasons you mention although I would still like the Cartier at some point. The everyday I guessed spot on, the AT and the OP, either would be a great option. I would add one more to the everyday watch and that would be the the Omega Constellation Globemaster blue pie pan dial. The Tudor BB GMT would also be my preference. For the chronograph I would probably pot the Speedmaster and the Bigeye followed very slightly by the Tudor purely down to readability, the Tudor is a great watch but the snowflake hour hand at times will obscure the sub dials. The Seamaster 300M is a no brainer for me for the diver, it's an amazing price for what you get. In house movement that is COSC and METAS certified with great build, there should be a dial colour to please nearly everyone.
Omega offers the best quality for the price in all their watches, imo. Fit, finish, movements etc are all top notch and you don’t have to break the bank. You can save and get one of the best quality watches out there. Omega is not resting on their laurels and I hope they never do. Top tier quality for a realistic price. If it’s anything more I think you get diminishing returns. And even though they’re not really in the 5k price category for the most part I think Oris is also one of the best quality watches for the price out there, especially with that new 400 cal movement.
Honestly those who compare Omega to Tudor are just out of their minds. Omega is leaps and bounds above Tudor. Reliable movements, decent finishes, classic styles, inspiring heritage.
@@thegabal1484 I went to try on a BB58 recently and had to take off my seasmaster. Once I tried on the 58 I realized that it wasn’t even close to my Omega. I think Rolex is sending Tudor after Omega recently to make people think that Omega isn’t in the same league as Rolex. That just isn’t the case.
I couldn't agree more, for the price to quality ratio all roads keeping leading back to omega, which is difficult when you want some diversity in your collection.
Really like all the picks in this list! The only one I just don't connect with is the IWC. I know most of these manufacturers don't come close to the 5k mark, but for me the pick would be the Longines spirit collection hands down for a Fleiger. I would chose Stowa or Laco over IWC as well for a genuine Flieger type watch. If you haven't reviewed the Longines Spirit yet definitely check it out. The finishing is incredible, the dial is georgous, and the prestige edition has a very nice qr bracelet and upgraded clasp. The winding of the L888 is the smoothest I've ever felt, even beating out my Omega 8500 in a skyfall AT.
Omega pretty much rule this price point anyway, don’t they? I think the Aqua Terra is hard to beat. I would like to see the same type of video at different price points. Thanks Teddy!
I know it's in the thumbnail and you've talked about it before but honestly my Aqua Terra 38 Black on bracelet is my absolute go to. Works in any and all situations. I wish it didnt have a date just because I like the dial symmetry but it is what it is. Now some mighty have problems with the bracelet fit and I do admit Omega needs a better clasp because the butterfly clasp doesn't have any adjustment. Either way it's an amazing watch.
Hard to argue the case of that being a great all around watch for any situation out there. I personally just got an OP 41 and I like not having the date because of the symmetry but what’s funny is the day after I got it I went to check the date on it kind of without thinking about it and I was like “ oh dam I guess I do use that function” I never thought I did
@@WatchUnwind LOL that happens to me almost every day. I don’t like date complications mainly because of symmetry and also because my middle aged eyes won’t be able to read the date anyway. Regardless, I sometimes ask myself “what’s today’s date?” and look at my Black Bay only to realize the date is not there hahaha.
The improvement of the clasp & the date returned to the '3' position are the issues postponing my purchase if said watch ( might have to go 2nd hand if no change in 2 years).
The true $5000 sleeper is the Grand Seiko Soko series (green accented models SBGA427 and 429) 39mm, comfy 3 link bracelet, and Spring drive, screw now crown 100m resistance, open case back. Should be #1 spot
I was shopping Omega AT or a Tudor of some sort at 5k but I ended up getting an sbga427 and it's such a cool piece for the price. 39mm is perfect and you get a second strap too.
I got the blue Tudor Pelagos on the bracelet and it is an ideal everyday watch. Especially for someone like me who pretty much only wears jeans/t-shirt or scrubs.
I just got 1st Omega Aqua Terra. Blue!!! ref nr. 231..... it's like my favourite sport=golf! You can play any course Inc mashie , but once you will roll on pristine greens. There is no way back! Worth every penny. Forgetting Rolex.
The Snowflake is definitely a beautiful watch, however, as it has 100m WR and a bracelet, I'd consider it more of an Aqua Terra competitor, in the "Go Anywhere, Do Anything" category. If it was lumed it could even arguably be better than the AT for many (even if I'd personally still prefer the AT), however the absence of lume does mean it can straddle the line between a GADA watch and a "true" dress watch.
I know you talk a lot about theTudor BB GMT bring the "true GMT" gatekeeper, but let's not forget that swatch group has true GMTs for around 1k with the Mido Ocean Star GMT!
He has done videos on the Mido Ocean Star. It is a great value. Swatch flexing it's muscle at Mido and Tissot to show it can bring value to beat microbrands
@@majjackdog I did not buy new. I had searched for quite a while, As I did not care for blue on this specific watch. It was in perfect shape when I bought it so I have no regrets as to my purchase. Although it's generally considered good to purchase it for what it is in your enjoyment, I did not want to take a several thousand dollar price hit out of the gate. Again, my opinion
That’s how I feel about all watches. You really got to see them in person! Which makes it hard for me in Alaska where no one sells any of them so I buy online most of the time
Going through the list I’d go as follows for my 6.75 inch wrist: Omega Seamaster Diver GS SBGW231 Omega Railmaster Tudor BB Chronograph GS Toge (almost tie with Tudor BB GMT) IWC spitfire instead of Mark XViii Great format here! Enjoyed this!
For me, luxury horology means: 1) Serviceable for a lifetime 2) Has a permanent secondary market There are watches under 5k that meet this target but 5k is a good benchmark based solely on cash
Luxury means you don't give a beep how much money you burn. That's why Rolex luxury status is debatable, because you don't burn money if you buy one, even above retail.
I guess you could call it that. Debatable that you won't burn money above retail. Maybe in the short term but if you pay 50k for a Daytona and hope to sell it for a profit in 5 years.. I think that is unlikely.
@@jolness1 you are right. And it also proves my point. If I bought a Daytona @50k and would expect at least an immediate 25k loss, than it would be luxury again. However, most ppl buy at 50k, because they expect to sell at 60k. So it is an investment. In the year 1998 it really didn't really matter if you wore a Breitling, Rolex or Jaeger. All were easily obtainable (with discounts) and were just different flavours and took a hit, when you wanted to sell them. But today - thank you social media - you are branded a moron, if you buy anything other than Rolex.
@@followyourpassion8378 personally, I don’t think that’s a good metric but to each their own. maybe in some places on social media that is true. Not in the groups I frequent. I guess with people who don’t like watches but just want to show everyone how rich they are that is true.

I have the Omega Aqua Terra with the rubber strap, the JLC Classic Reverso Duoface and the Cartier Solo- which I chose because it has a non traditional flat bezel... I had to get a Rolex the OP 41 in silver ..love them all
A category no one talks about is calendars. They’re a high complication like chronographs and there are annual calendars at these price points (namely omegas) that are worth checking out - AT, Globemaster, De Ville annual calendars are all amazing
Hey Teddy, love what you're doing, really informative and interesting formats that always keep things interesting. Watched a few videos now and noticed that you never talk about Bremont. Wondering why? A Black Bay / S501 side by side would be really interesting, I'm sure there are others as well.
Great video. I really liked all your picks and agreed with most. I love JLC and the reverso, but the options around 5k are not very formal looking in my opinion. For someone looking for a formal automatic dress watch for under 5k I think the IWC Portofino is the best option.
Could you considering replacing the aqua terra with a Tag Heuer Careera Day Date? I have a blue faced of the Tag and love it for an “every day” but also can wear with a blue suit. Looking to build the collection so would love some recommendations!

I might buy one more with a different dial and rubber band for sports style (I have a bracelet now) 😅 Crazy idea to buy another similar piece, but I just love them. But I probably will end up with a moon watch or some omega diver with a rubber band. Great video! Thanks
Hello Teddy, thank you for the great video! Slightly off topic here, but looking for my first "everyday" watch and am co sidering the IWC Pilot Chronograph 41 or perhaps the Mark XX which I know is a bit more simple... any general thoughts? Thanks!
That longines master calendar chrono looks like a $50,000 watch, for only $3,400. Does it feel cheap in real life or something? I’m now considering purchasing one
I just bought my 3rd Rolex. I am not a rich guy. I am a retired US Veteran who makes what the Navy pays it's retired Veterans. No. I am a Rolex fan, so when I want one I reach for my credit card. I spend the next six months to a year paying it off, and then reach for the same credit card when I want another one. You can GET any Rolex you want. But you can't use AD's. First of all, AD's don't have the supply. But more importantly, there is no way in hell I am going to be treated like the retailer is doing me a damned favor by taking that much money from me. Grey market is where it's at, you just have to find dealers that don't go crazy with the markups. That said...here is what is most awesome about this hobby: Yes, I own three Rolex, instead of one AP. Whatever, it's what I want and the point is that I have the ability to purchase expensive watches. But do you know what I have on my wrist today? Today I am wearing my Vostok komandirskie 24 hour...which is one of my favorite watches...and it cost $70. The point is, this does not have to be an expensive hobby in order to be an awesome hobby. There is so much to appreciate in this $70 Vostok, that I could bore you for at least a half hour talking about it. Teddy is talking about watches here that he considers inexpensive, and he makes a solid argument for most of them. There is just so much out there to enjoy, at every conceivable price level that EVERYone who has an interest can be a part of it.
Teddy. Love your videos. Wanting to buy a JLC Master control sector dial. any thoughts. It's such a beautiful piece. I can't fine any online. Are they big collectors items?
Teddy all great choices but at $5000 there is no great value here. You can get watches at around $2000 that would give these watches a serious run for their money.
I love your videos and reviews. I find curious why Longines doesn’t get more love in the industry. They invented the GMT watch and were pioneers in pilot watches (hence their logo). Value for money wise, they’re unbeatable. I guess their sweet spot is more around the USD 3,000 mark which is why they don’t feature more prominently in this video.
Agreed. With the spirit Zulu time at $3k, it rendered the GS and Tudor GMT irrelevant at $4-5k. Unless you just absolutely adore the GS Elegance or Black Bay, the true GMT from Longines isn’t even a “decision”
A little while ago I spotted an El Primero reissue for like $5500 on Jomashop, if I ever find one at that price again I'm jumping on it! Prefer it to the speedy at that price honestly.
The Aqua Terra is my grail watch. It is my watch choice. Glad to see the Longines on the list as honorable mention. I think 1500 would be great for this list.
Hey Teddy, I had a question regarding Forge and Foster. They are saying they are using a seagull movement, but there website push a lot of stuff on you. I really like how some of there watches look and was wondering if you have had any experiance with them, or any better alternativ to a cheap watch. I am aware that buying watches from these kinda manufacturers you are probably not getting a watch that win against the time, but rather a watch that will last a couple of years before you need to buy a new one.

Omega got their watches too big, too thick. And they have way too many models and variations
@@thegabal1484 Omega is comparable and even better than Rolex for way less price
That’s a cool looking watch I own a longies Hydroconquest and it’s usually people’s favorite watch in my collection
Omega pretty much rule this price point anyway, don’t they? I think the Aqua Terra is hard to beat. I would like to see the same type of video at different price points. Thanks Teddy!
For me, an Aqua Terra, Planet Ocean and a Speedy Pro would handle anything I need from here on out to the grave. No question.
iwc does a pretty good job too, the mirror blue is sooo perfect in the sun, cant beat that
Breitling Avenger
@@eyeheartsushi2212 😂 I’m glad I’m not the only one.
The improvement of the clasp & the date returned to the '3' position are the issues postponing my purchase if said watch ( might have to go 2nd hand if no change in 2 years).
I have the Toge and I feel happy every time I put it on. It shines like jewellery under direct sunlight. Everything about it feels so well made.
Every video you do puts a different spin on what are the qualities I want in a watch. (I lean towards “ one and done”.)
Super ocean Heritages and Oris Aquis are two of my personal favs.
The omega seamaster 300m was my first luxury watch and I’m still just in love with it.
Nice, same here!
Same here. Although I picked up the 007 edition bc it was unique. Or I could have gotten the tokyo olympic version.
@@hansenluu the Olympic and 007 watch is so nice. Both are great choices.
@@vox207 The Tokyo Olympics version is so cool looking.
Same here. I am considering switching to a aqua terra but I massively love the 300m. Not sure what I’ll do.
Seamaster Railmaster is my first luxury watch. Absolutely love the blue dial and texture. My everyday watch and great to see it represented here
Good choice
You never disappoint. Another informative and entertaining presentation.
Very nice job. However, I probably would have went with the GS Snowflake as my pick for the dress watch category.
Isnt that over 5 grand?
@@brandonnickerson8934 Technically yeah, but at $5.8K it's close enough that it can be part of the conversation.
I know you talk a lot about theTudor BB GMT bring the "true GMT" gatekeeper, but let's not forget that swatch group has true GMTs for around 1k with the Mido Ocean Star GMT!
Great point. For my next watch I think I need a gmt or a chronograph that night be a good place to look
He has done videos on the Mido Ocean Star. It is a great value.
Swatch flexing it's muscle at Mido and Tissot to show it can bring value to beat microbrands
The Seiko Presage Sharp Edge GMT is also a fantastic true GMT value at just over grand!
Picked up the GS sbgw231 this weekend. Much more than a dress watch. Great smart casual versatility
The FINISH on THAT Rolex EXPLORER bracelet is GORGEOUS 😍 ✨️ ✨️ !!!
Got on a list at my ad for the Tudor panda but I’m leaning toward the omega diver 300
I love my 300M! I got the black bezel and black face.
@@thomashelm6931 that’s the one I’m looking at, its really amazing looking on the wrist, congrats
@@majjackdog I have it too and it is a fantastic watch! Good luck with your decision!
@@thomashelm6931 I wish RUclipsrs would show the black dial more. Seems more versatile than the blue one.
Great video Teddy! I want the Omega eventually. It's so beautiful in person....images just don't do the dial justice!
That’s how I feel about all watches. You really got to see them in person! Which makes it hard for me in Alaska where no one sells any of them so I buy online most of the time
Teddy, I was watching kitco news and Kevin O threw ur name around several times. Good for u!!
Going through the list I’d go as follows for my 6.75 inch wrist:
Omega Seamaster Diver
GS SBGW231
Omega Railmaster
Tudor BB Chronograph
GS Toge (almost tie with Tudor BB GMT)
IWC spitfire instead of Mark XViii
Great format here! Enjoyed this!
For me, luxury horology means:
1) Serviceable for a lifetime
2) Has a permanent secondary market
There are watches under 5k that meet this target but 5k is a good benchmark based solely on cash
@@jolness1 I agree, it is not a good metric, takes the fun out of watches. If you like, check out some of my watch adventures:

I have the Omega Aqua Terra with the rubber strap, the JLC Classic Reverso Duoface and the Cartier Solo- which I chose because it has a non traditional flat bezel... I had to get a Rolex the OP 41 in silver ..love them all
A category no one talks about is calendars. They’re a high complication like chronographs and there are annual calendars at these price points (namely omegas) that are worth checking out - AT, Globemaster, De Ville annual calendars are all amazing
The globe master annual calendar looks really cool 😎
I have the standard Globemaster and it is fantastic. A truly underrated watch.
@@gregs8685 awesome 👏 standard is a really cool watch as well

My first luxury watch was the BB58 Blue, I wear it every day, even to the gym and I love it!
Great choice, I've been buying watches for over 20 years and the BB58 blue is one of the best.
Great Video! Recently saw JLC duoface with blue dial, really liked it. Want to pull it as a dress watch soon!
Great content! Keep this Best of series coming! Thanks
Hey Teddy, love what you're doing, really informative and interesting formats that always keep things interesting. Watched a few videos now and noticed that you never talk about Bremont. Wondering why? A Black Bay / S501 side by side would be really interesting, I'm sure there are others as well.
Because he is only talking about mass-produced watches for everyone like Tudor, Omega, etc.
Aqua Terra and Longines you presented are terrific.
Good video I think you can mention multiple watches for each category. Omega does have a great lineup at this price point.
Could we have a video on longines models? I think that there are real value for money.
I will eat my shirt if there isn’t a grand seiko in this list
Enjoyed this format tremendously. Excellent content!
Thank you, Teddy!
As usual, excellently done.
How about the same format in the 5-13k range?
Great video. I really liked all your picks and agreed with most. I love JLC and the reverso, but the options around 5k are not very formal looking in my opinion. For someone looking for a formal automatic dress watch for under 5k I think the IWC Portofino is the best option.
Love these kind of videos. Gets everyone thinking.
Hi thanks for this great video !
The Aqua Terra you always show is the black or green dial ?
I own the White dial Seamaster 300m and a black dial Black Bay heritage (41mm). They are both beautiful watches and work just about anywhere.
Could you considering replacing the aqua terra with a Tag Heuer Careera Day Date? I have a blue faced of the Tag and love it for an “every day” but also can wear with a blue suit. Looking to build the collection so would love some recommendations!
As an owner of a Tudor Pelagos and a Longines Master complications I am pleased that both watches features in this video. I would love to have a JLC reverso , a very good choice.
Lovely video as always.
The Master Complication is insanely good value. It's the most watch for under 5K although some of the Christopher Wards give it a run for its money.
Great job with the content. Love the idea of increasing the funds and options available.

Aqua Terra! It is my first and only piece for now, and I am starting to think about another piece. I might buy one more with a different dial and rubber band for sports style (I have a bracelet now) 😅 Crazy idea to buy another similar piece, but I just love them. But I probably will end up with a moon watch or some omega diver with a rubber band.

That said...here is what is most awesome about this hobby:
Yes, I own three Rolex, instead of one AP.
Absolute master piece. This could be 6 grand and I wouldn’t feel short changed.
The green dial is just exquisite. 10/10
Teddy. Love your videos. Wanting to buy a JLC Master control sector dial. any thoughts. It's such a beautiful piece. I can't fine any online. Are they big collectors items?
Thinking of the railmastet myself! Being basically and All brushed finished aquatera with awesome dials! Whats not to like.
Teddy all great choices but at $5000 there is no great value here. You can get watches at around $2000 that would give these watches a serious run for their money.
Great vid. Grand Seiko’s quartz GMTs are also in this price range.
I would swap the SBGM241 for the SBGE271g. It's like a black dial version of the snowflake with the GMT. Unreal for the price
Unless you just absolutely adore the GS Elegance or Black Bay, the true GMT from Longines isn’t even a “decision”
watching this (and other) video, it is incredible to see how after just one year, the prices have increased by 1000/2000 for the same watch.😢
Have to say I think I’m in love with the JLC reverso…
GREAT format Teddy.
Amazing format, great content, KEEP IT COMING!!!
My Pelagos has lost some of the Ceramic inserts on the bezel. Seems like a common issue.

Omega Speedmaster
Omega SMP white dial
Omega AT black dial

Hey Teddy, I had a question regarding Forge and Foster. They are saying they are using a seagull movement, but there website push a lot of stuff on you. I really like how some of there watches look and was wondering if you have had any experiance with them, or any better alternativ to a cheap watch. I am aware that buying watches from these kinda manufacturers you are probably not getting a watch that win against the time, but rather a watch that will last a couple of years before you need to buy a new one.
Would love more videos focused in the $100k-$50m range if possible. Thanks Teddy! 😆
