I hate Teddy...I was perfectly content with my speedy pro and BM Clifton automatic but this video made me realize there's a glashutte O. Under 7k...crap...there goes my idea of saving for a new bike rather than watch... (I know its not new but this GO flew completely under my radar!)
More tragically in fact is my burrito place went from 3.99 for the last 10 years to 7.99 overnight sometime during covid for green chile burrito. That was a tough one, I can live without an Omega, but, can one live without green chile?
The Glashutte Original Sixties with the blue dial has been one of my favorite watches since the first time I saw it. The blue is gorgeous as is the design.
Omega just hiked prices again this afternoon, 300M up to $5900. I bought my white dial last year for under $5k, it’s nuts how much the price on these has gone up.
The Titanium Seiko Spring Drive I got from an AD in Japan has the best movement from a technical standpoint. Although I prefer wearing a Daytona for the looks and the way it hugs my wrist. I think you have the best channel for enthusiasts. Thanks for your dedication to your craft.
I’ve had a snowflake for eight months now. Fantastic watch. Titanium lightness-disappears on the wrist. Runs about 1.5 seconds fast per month Polishing and sharpness of beveling makes for outstanding legibility and sparkle. Definitely worth a look before dropping the dough on an alternative…
After looking all over for a GMT watch around this price range I purchased the Breitling Chronomat 40mm GMT and couldn’t be happier. I love how versatile this watch is. I would love to see an in-house movement in future iterations but for now I appreciate how thin the case is thanks to the ETA movement.
I picked up my Tudor BB S&G last year and absolutely love it. It feels like a one and done heritage worthy watch. The bezel is more of a burnt orange in person that's very attractive. Went with the leather strap to save $1000. The strap fell apart in less than a month though.
Teddy, you are a bad man, this list is amazing and I want to get the Tag Heuer Carrera chronograph now. Keep up the great videos and looking forward to another watch shopping with Mr Wonderful
You have Rado Captin Cook high tech ceramic as an option if you’re looking for a ceramic watch that would compete in price with Tudor black bay. Reality is Rado has the ETA movement which gets a lot of hate but the materials, finish and simplicity makes up for the price IMO.
My IWC Pilots Chronograph 41 was $6500 back in Jan 2022 when I bought it, and has since gone up to $7600 which is kind of ridiculous. I would say that the pilots chronograph 41 would be an excellent watch for the 6K range in this video if that watch was still at that price. I definitely agree with the first choice of the Omega SMP 300M Diver, which I also have...in the blue as shown! Bought that at $5200 back in Nov 21 and now it is at $5600...soon it's going to be over 6K and start to price certain people out of buying that as well.
Always nice to see these videos - even when you’re but going to buy any of these soon. Nice selection. With the Zürich, I’m sometimes thinking there might be a bit too much on the dial… I think I’d pick the Tangonat GMT and a diver for 2k, but that wasn’t the task, I know😅
Love your videos, Teddy. Can you do a video on the JLC sector dial master control. It’s the classiest watch I’ve ever seen and… 1. Can’t find any online 2. Would love to know if it’s a limited run or any other info. Thanks
The funny thing about a watch is that it could be the best watch technically, but if it's ugly, or just not to one's taste, then it doesn't matter how good it is. The Glashutte is unquestionably a good watch, but I don't like the script they use for the numbers, so I would never even consider it.
Agreed and sometimes our look cannot fit in. I m close to 40 but looks like 30 or 20in European eyes. Wearing a Rolex already making people give a strange look on me.
True, i think we see it less of a tool, more as a self expression metal bracelet. Its also one thing that most self respecting person will not buy in counterfeit, because even if others praise it, you yourself knew.
Well I think I have my bases covered with this video. OP41 in Silver, Omega 2531.80 Seamaster (more elegant than the current model) and Speedmaster Sapphire. 3 and done ! :)
Hands down, this is the sweet spot for luxury timepieces in my opinion, aspirational pieces that you can work hard to own that look astounding across the board.
I was at my local AD this morning and saw about half of these, including the Seamasters and the Black Bay. I’ve never had any interest in Rolex, but I tried on the Black Bay, and I tell you, it took a lot of willpower not to plunk down my credit card! Still not sure how I’d feel about, but it was a thing of beauty.
Always enjoy the way you divide these videos into watch TYPES. Very informative…..for me these watches are “aspirational”…..6k USD is close to 10k CDN not including tax! 😢😢😢
I've tried on the Planet Ocean and it's a thick watch. Definitely has some weight and feel to it at 14.2mm. To see that the Tudor GMT is even thicker was surprising.
The Grand Seiko logo makes me think of those cheap theatre restaurants your grandparents would take you to on school holidays. But that Spring Drive... mind boggling.
Could you please review Seiko's SSEH001-006 line of Cartier tank homage watches? Although it's a women's watch I would like to know if it is suitable for men's with smaller wrist?
If you want to be even more tactical. A reverso ultra thin GMT comes in under 6K, and offers both dress watch and on the other face GMT function. That leaves just a diver and chrono for your list. A sea master 36mm automatic ceramic bezel and a vintage heuer carrera. Brand variety, case shape and size variety, function variety, modern and vintage. 3 watch collection, For under 15K
@@dandahl5964 i know but i find each brand’s option is pretty set over the years. Retro and changing colours, omega’s cross over seems the only stand out. Price is just a tag, GS has craftsmanship way above 6k.
Teddy, Excellent research and content. Purchasing my third watch and watch case from Jon this week. You're team's customer service is superb. Thank you and be safe! Dr. Bob
I would save a grand and would go for the Grand Seiko spring drive in the famous 44GS case with the beautiful midnight blue dial. I mean SBGA375 which costs $5200. The size is perfect too: 40 mm.
I can’t understand why anyone would pay 7 when you can buy them all day long for less than 4. And sub 5 for the 3861. Omega selling against themselves more than most.
The fact that there are a lot of ppls willing to pay that 2k more to be able to put the 1st scratch on the watch. I will get 1 with 2k-3k off retail in the pre-owned market.
For sure, there are great deals out there on used speedy’s. There’s still something special about being the first owner of a watch though. I paid the full retail for a sapphire sandwich, but it was a special moment being able to buy it at their flagship in Zürich.
Thanks for the continued stellar content Teddy. While the $6k region is end game for guys like me (I made the choice to be a Dad), it’s still fun to learn and have something to shoot for.
Great video. Ugh. Was hoping to get a sub or gmt Rolex when and if their prices come back to earth, but now after seeing this video and some of these beauties maybe I get two of these instead. I am sure a Delma many of you have had. .
Got a Grand Seiko Spring Drive as my first watch. The movement is the best, but the design isn't very striking. My next watch will probably be an Omega Moonphase or "Moon To Mars" Speedmaster
I have the same feeling about GS. Stunning movement, great finishing but it looks like it doesn't know what to be. A sports watch? Somewhat. A dress watch? Maybe. And I really disliked their bracelets (even tho I heard they are better now with the newer releases). Great watch but not for me.
Same feeling with GS. I bought one and sold after 2 weeks of ownership. The finishing is second to none, however I don't have any feeling for it on my wrist. I ended up with Aqua Terra as a replacement, and it felt like a proper watch to me.
One comment on Tag Heuer. I like the brand, but didn’t buy it because Tag is a laggard in using up-to-date materials and movements. As an example, its GMTs are beautiful and eye catching. However, Tag uses an aluminum bezel! Way out of date compared to modern Swiss watchmakers.
Aquaracer has a ceramic bezel. Only the Tudor BB has an aluminum bezel that know of. Also Tag Heuer has been using an in house movement for over 6 years on Carreras and Monaco’s. I’m sure they will expand the use of it.
I love GS but power reserves should be on the back side of a watch. They serve no purpose except when you've been wearing another watch so why add an unnecessary feature to an otherwise beautiful dial?
