Boxed mac and cheese hack: never add milk. Just add your butter and the packet. You’ll get a much more cheesy flavor. I’ve never done this with any of the vegan mac and cheese, but someone told me that’s how they made Kraft and it was a game changer back when I used to eat stuff like that. Granted, it’s still boxed mac and cheese, but it is much, much better that way. It keeps it from tasting so bland and watered down.

That’s how I do it too, it turns out WAY better!
I take the pasta out of the pot and drain it. Add the milk, butter and sauce packet to the pot to make the sauce. Let it thicken and add the pasta back in. Annie’s directions. But it totally works on other brands
As well as salted butter.
I love the Daiya one with a sautéed/broken up beyond sausage and 1/4c hatch green chiles mixed in, it is reminiscent of my Grandma’s green chile mac growing up (which was just ground beef and green chiles in kraft mac and cheese) without the digestive discomfort!

I think it'd be fun if you guys did a second part to this because I've found (online) several other boxed mac and cheeses not mentioned in this video (although I appreciate the variety!). I've seen Amy's, Chao, several other flavors of Daiya, Sweet Earth cauliflower mac, Annie's mac and cheese microwavable cups, and so much more!

I LOVE watching you guys try out foods! I feel that you give your honest and candid opinions and make it easier food us (well.... ME) to find the best ones without having to buy all the brands and try it ourselves. I'm the only vegan in my house and I LOVED Mac & cheese! It was my life! I like Daiya the best... But I don't like rice noodles so I'll use a regular noodle. And yes.... Salt, pepper & some onion powder! 😅😅

I’ve tried the Annie’s vegan mac and cheese microwave cups I like the but, I usually add hot sauce which makes it taste better and way more familiar! 😊😊 Great video!!

So I don’t eat vegan but I do have dietary restrictions of dairy and gluten so I’ve found myself coming to your channel every time I’m questioning a product! You both have been so helpful and helped me drastically with grocery shopping. I tried the daiya Mac and cheese tonight and I added nutritional yeast, creole seasoning, garlic powder and a dash of cayenne pepper and wow it tasted so much like regular Mac and cheese after that! The daiya “meat lovers” pizza you said was really good was put into my shopping cart tonight too 😂

Omg this was such a good video! My family have recently gone vegan so I’ve been trying to find things for my kids to help them be more comfortable with their food and maybe even excited. The best part was seeing your daughters reaction to the food compared to yours. I found it helpful and now I need to try to find some of these brands!

We get the daiya cheese sauce packets (The same one you had) which they sell in packs of three. And use regular elbow macaroni. I'd like to try the possibilities one too. I'm sure my son would like the ocean shapes.

Your cheese sauce is the only one I’ll ever use (I’m actually eating Mac & cheese with it now and it’s 8:30am 🤣). It’s worth every penny and can be just as quick, if not quicker!

I’ve had the ruffle Pastabilities and thought it was good. There is a Dayia that I tried that I’ve bought again, I don’t think it was one of these though. Yesterday, I made the Chao’s frozen mac & cheese and it was really good. I save the easy foods for when I don’t feel well, so it’s nice to have them on hand. The girls were adorable…it’s always fun to see them in a video.

The Annie's one with pumpkin and sweet potato is my go-to if I'm grabbing boxed mac! It doesn't remind me of Kraft but I also don't really feel like it's trying to be, unlike the original Annie's that seems to try and fail miserably. Now I'm excited to try the #1 and #3 if I can find them. Thanks for making these videos for us!

I like Chao Mac and cheese in the freezer section but when I make my own I use vivolife as the base

I'm not finished the video as yet, but thank you for making a mac and cheese review! One of my guilty pleasures was Kraft Dinner, and I've yet to find a vegan brand that mimics that flavour. Here in Canada, we don't have a lot of the brands you tried, but I'm sure i can try to order them. Thank you again!

I LOVE the modern table mac! I was surprised by how much I liked it. I will say though, I wasn't even able to stomach the Annie's pumpkin mac and cheese. I had a couple of bites and couldn't handle eating any more of it, the flavor just tasted almost sweet to me. I'm going to have to try to find the shaped one!

I like using the Daiya ones as a base for a quick hamburger help type meal. Crumble and cook a couple of beyond or impossible patties, some onion and preferred seasoning. Add frozen veggies if desired. And my favorite vegan Mac and cheese is the frozen Annie's gluten free Mac n cheese.
Pastabilities with the ruffle shaped pasta is my favorite

So interesting! My fiancé and I have tried some of these and the regular vegan Annie’s is our go-to. We couldn’t finish Daiya and I personally really don’t like the sweet potato Annie’s. Gotta dress up the Mac with hot sauce and a protein though!
Put a can of Rotel in the Daiya and add some of the cutting board shredded cheese and it’s pretty good. They also make packages of just the cheese so you can sauce other things like cauliflower or other vegetables; again I usually add the rotel to add some flavor.
I personally thought the Upton was the worst most unredeemable of all the vegan Mac & cheeses I have tried. However, it had really good reviews. I wanted to like it but I just didn’t care for it at all.

Daiya sell their cheese sauce separately as a sauce and I just buy those and use my own regular pasta and its so much better, I always find I can put extra noodles and its still good and saucy.

The Annies OG Vegan "cheddar" mac and cheese is the GO TO!! Also, the butter and milk you use will change the taste 100%. So if you use oat or soy milk, and the type and "flavor" of butter changes mac and cheese sooo much I think. But still out of these, we've had most of them, and the Annies is our #1... throw some plant based hot dogs in the mix and some hot sauce for a fire meal!! Loving this channel, glad it showed up in my feed randomly today!

But the beginning taste does have that classic velveeta taste to me
My kids and I would like the daiya a lot more if it wasn’t gluten free. Wish they had that as an option.

I started buying Modern Table because of this video. It is soooo much better than Daiya and many other options. Unfortunately, they discontinued it. Now I need to try some other options.
My go-to is Daiya. It's the only one I really have access to, but I'm also gluten-free, so it's all good. I love it, but I don't usually eat it as-is. I agree that it's really more for kids. I usually add a can of vegetarian chili, or a butch of veggies and some extra seasonings. Not that it's lacking flavor, but to me, cheesy noodles alone is not a meal. Lol.

I recently came across a delicious 🤤 box mac and cheese that is locally made to us.. eureka plant based food in phillipsburg nj.. they're soon going to be in stores but I believe can be purchased online it is must try.. they also make a bunch of homemade vegan deli meats so good

My favourite noodle shape for mac and cheese is small shells unconventional but due to eating annies white cheddar mac and cheese and loving it now nothing compares vegan or not its a specific flavour Iove so much. But the noodle shape makes such a difference too tiny shells pick up sauce so well :) I want a perfect vegan alternative.... I doubt I'll get it

I’ve tried the Annie’s cheddar and to me it’s reminiscent of the Kraft Mac & cheese, but just not cheesy enough. It’s lacking for sure. I also tried the deluxe cheddar one, I definitely didn’t get the soap taste (I would of thrown up if I did) sorry. I just thought the cheese to pasta ratio was very off (needed more cheese). I’ve had 2 of the Daiya ones, don’t like the pasta itself, so it’s ok to me, just not great. And lastly I’ve tried a Mac & cheese from Aldi (Earth Grown brand) and it’s not bad. Similar to the Kraft type also.

Pro tip: after cooking pasta, run noodles under water makes it taste better.
I've only had two different brands of vegan Mac&Cheese, Daiya (2 versions) and the other one is Amy's. I suppose that it can be said that Amy's has a wholesome image like that of Marie Callender's. Amy's vegan Mac&Cheese is frozen and takes about 3 minutes in the microwave.
I'm glad that y'all included Serenity & Storm's opinions. Now I gotta see if I can find some Pastabilities for my daughter and I to try.

Earth Grown Vegan Mac and Cheese would be our favorite. But I tend to make homemade vegan Mac and cheese for the family. We grabbed that brand just to try and absolutely love it. I hope Aldi brings it back this summer.
