What's your favorite vegan cheese?
Violife!
My new fav is Parmela cheese - you guys should try this! doesn't melt well but it tastes great! Its better than violife imo
#Good planet 🏆 and #Goveggie so far.
For shreds - typically only used for my mac n cheese, I grab VioLife, Miyokos or Follow Your Heart. However I love Miyoko's' cream cheese and mozzarella wheel. Conscious Cultures Creamery stole my heart last month. Their cheese tastes like real cheese. Mind blown. Daiya's boxed mac n cheese bangs too!
Violife
Thank you for your honest reviews cause chileee I can’t waste no more money trying vegan cheese 😂😂🤣
follow your heart and miyokos are so gross to me i’ve never liked them 😭, chao and daiya are my faves. hbu?
Lol who you telling? 😆 At one point I just quit trying. 🤣
It's so hard cause even with thorough reviews like this taste is subjective. Everybody has different opinions and buying all these to compare is like a weeks pay😃
Omg same!! I just bought some chao and I’m nervous now lmao
@@DNGH814 cheese is the only thing that keeps me from being vegan.
Did you two ever share how you both met or how long you have been married? Your energy and giggling is joyous.... it makes me smile.
aww thanks, we haven't made a video on that but we have more info on our website about us
Yes! That would be a cool topic. Eat some vegan cake while you chat ;)
Lol, they seem legit, because I’ve watched videos when they weren’t as in synced as they are in this video.
@@MakeItDairyFree .........HI ANDREW, DO YU HAVE ANY VIDEOS ON YOUR ""DAILY"" BEARD MAINTENANCE.....BRUH, MY INQUIRING MIND WANTS TO KNO!!!!----LLS......I THOUGHT MY BEARD WAS TIGHT.......
@@Charmane73 Yes. They act like a real couple. You can tell when one of them is grumpy, but they still love each other. It’s what adds to their authenticity which is so rare on RUclips, especially in the vegan influencer world 🤣
Thank you guys for all of your videos. They have helped me so much!!
Just came across your page a few days ago. THANK YOU. Trying all this vegan food and letting us know which direction to go in is super helpful.
Omgosh! You guys are a God sent! SO helpful. The Daiya slices were really good. The Violife Cream Cheese was really really good! I couldn't believe it. Thank you for sharing!
This is a very useful and important content for me, bc I quit dairy, I miss eating cheese! Isbreally awesome to know that there are so many products to try out there ❤️ ty
Violife for me is my favourite! It recently was rereleased in Canada and it is incredible.
I'm a newcomer to your videos - love them! I love how casual you are, it's SO refreshing. When you take a bite and chew it, you actually give yourself time like every other normal person would do to really taste it and assess whether or not you like it. So many channels, they take one bite, hardly chew, and (some) overreact to how good it is without hardly giving themselves time to chew it. Thank you for being normal lol!!
I can just watch you guys for hours and hours on end - you are definitley my favorite vegan channel :) Violife is always my go to cheese too. Also: a little weird side note, but I just have to compliment Andrew's waves - they are looking so beautiful these days!
Thank you for your videos! They're sp helpful for me! I've become lactose intolerant and your videos really help me ! I love how your reviews are more in depth than others! 🌸💖🌟
Glad you like them!
I really appreciate these reviews. I didn't know about half of these brands or what the differences between them might be. Thank you!
After watching this I went on a vegan cheese shopping spree! My favorites were Chao slices( good on sandwiches and with crackers), Violife Mozarella Shreds (great for veggie quesadillas) and So Delicious Cheddar shreds (great for grilled cheese). I love these videos! Thank you so much!
Love that!
If you cover pan when using Miyoko’s cheeses it really does melt a lot better. I prefer the pepper jack, but Miyoko herself doesn’t like the cheddar and they are currently finishing reformulating.
With all the respect you both deserve, you make an awesome couple.
I've been out of the vegan loop for a bit, but headed back in, and this was really timely for me! Thank you, even a year after you released this it's still super helpful!
You're so welcome!
Very informational with comparison of different vegan cheese! Love this video and y’all kool spirit!
thanks so much
I did like the miyoko's farmhouse cheddar block, haven't tried the shreds. I shredded the block and used it in zucchini/potato enchiladas and it was awesome!
Pretty much agree! I was really disappointed with the new miyokos, I love their cheese spreads. My fav shredded cheese is also violife, the colby jack flavor is great and melts Sooo well
Child was diagnosed with lactose intolerance...and have begun researching options. Found your channel and I'm so happy I did.
For the Miyoko’s, it ended up working really well when I blended it in my vitamix with plant milk, nutritional yeast, and a few other things to make almost a velveeta cheese sauce for a veganized broccoli casserole for thanksgiving! I don’t like it too much on its own. It was on super sale at Whole Foods around thanksgiving so that’s why I used that 😊
www.food.com/recipe/broccoli-and-velveeta-casserole-370806 veganized version of this recipe is what I made
Can you share the recipe that you made for the almost Velveeta cheese sauce
Very cool seeing you guys in Veg News mag! Congrats!
So glad I found you guys I've been watching passed videos. Deffo new subbie from England. One Love🙋👑👑
Thanks so much!
I love Violife. It's worth the money for finishing off a recipe, and bringing it up to the next level. Can you do a cheddar one now? ☺
Agreed violife is the best
I need a cheddar that test
Tastes like plastic. I'm gonna make my own vegan cheese.
It melts well too
@@zen_mindset1 i agree it was terrible. Tried chao and it didnt melt right. Might try cashew chees sauce or Brazilian nut cheese
Ive been looking for a video exactly like this one!!
We hope it's helpful!
vital life sounds the best so far. thx for sharing
Violife is like the best!!! Hands down!
Started my dairy free diet and your channel is a pot gold for me right now. Thanks for trying everything so we don’t have to. These products are getting so expensive nowadays 🙌
You are so welcome!
🙏🏽Thank you for this video, sharing it with family
In general I've found the best shredded vegan cheese is the stuff we shred ourselves from blocks of vegan cheese we like. Whatever they use to separate the shreds seems to impact the flavor and ability to melt well but I'll have to try leaving the shreds out on the counter for a little first because that's a lot easier
Absolutely agree
Y’all are awesome. Love your on screen chemistry. Violife is great. There cream cheese is the best too. It’s better than Miyoko’s. But, Tofutti has decent cream cheese too. The KIRKS are team VIOLIFE.
Thanks for the info guys!!! 🖤🖤🖤
Thank you. I enjoyed your interactions and of course this video. Thank you 🥰 😊 🥰
Thanks so much
Thank you for this video. This was very helpful. Just discovered your channel. 🙂 The markets near me only have Violife and Chao. I like them both.
Glad it was helpful!
vio life is my favorite, although i really want to try miyokos! just a little friendly criticism, (not at all in a judgy or spiteful way) i think chill lofi music would work best in your videos, as it would compliment your channel’s tone :)
LOVE the Miyoko's melted on tortilla chips for nachos. It kind of coats the chip and tastes super
nice!
I am new at this. This is my 3rd day on an all plant based diet. I'm stuck because I dont know what to eat but I will figure it out. Thank you guys for this video I'm definitely going to pick up the violife brand and try it.
I’d love to see yall rate with numbers of zero through 10, not just comparing one cheeze to another. For example, all of them could be great cheeses rated high, but one could be 8.5; another 9.0; another 9.5; and another 10.0. Thanks for your consideration!
thanks for the feedback!
Thank you for this video I was waiting for someone to show all these different cheeses so I can decide myself without spending it cuz they're very expensive
I love the new Miyokos. I actually used it along with Follow Your Heart Parm in your Mac n cheese recipe.......and it was delicious!! Your recipe is fantastic. Also, if I make a grilled cheese with it, I do have to cook it slow and low with a lid to keep the heat in, just so it melts
oh awesome! Glad you enjoy
Your videos have great lighting. Thankx! ;)
Thank you !
Great to have heard about these! Where do you guys shop for them?
Thank you for this review
Thanks guys! I'm going to try the Aldi, again ... also violife (when I treat myself!)
My goto is Daiya and Chao slices
I always cover when melting cheese.
You're welcome!
The Violife is my fave bit the Whole Foods 365 brand is really similar and cheaper! But if the Violife is on sale I will
grab that!
Aldi Earth Grown is so good on pasta, pesto and sundried tomatoes delicious!
I honestly think we might share the same taste buds because I agree with the order with you two picked a hundred percent . At 1 point I had thought. I'd lost it because I tried daiya while back and I thought it had a horrible texture as well as flavor as well as even on a pizza kind of stuck in my mouth . Then someone bought it and I kind of accidentally tried it again and liked it and thought it couldn't be the same brand when they told me and had no idea they improved it and thought I had just lost my mind or lost my sense of taste l o l .Glad that you guys let me know that I didn't and the order you picked is really good😋😋💜
Very helpful, thank you.
Follow your heart and miyoko are our go to. The pepper Jack and cheddar slices are delicious.
I don’t know anyone allergic to coconut…. So I had no idea it would be an allergen! Interesting! I love you guys and thank you for doing these taste tests!
I just bought Violife cheddar shreds yesterday. So very yummy. Tastes like regular cheddar
maybe my taste buds are off, but I didn't notice it tasting like regular cheese.
Great comparisons! I love the violife and Daiya Cutting Board mozzarella shreds. I found that if I spray them with a non propellant cooking oil spray they melt much better on pizza. I will try the room temperature thing . I Love the Violife Cheddar shreds and slices too. I am not a fan of the taste of the Miyokos cheeses. I know their mozzarella is loved by many but it's not for me.
Good to know!
Love your taste test !
Girl I have that sweatshirt too! It’s my favorite!
This is helpful. I wish the cheese was cheaper. I saw someone do a .99 cent video and they found the Violife for 1.99. Working to switch over to dairy free.
Nice!
I love Violife. It’s my absolute fave. Y’all should try the mature cheddar!
We have found some of the mature stuff, we talked about it in our must buy essentials video!
I’ve only tried Miykoso’s pepper jack so far and their butter but I love them both! Newbie to the vegan world (two weeks in 🥳💜🥦) and I tried the pepper jack in quesadillas (I instinctively covered the pan tho from back in my grilled cheese days) so it melted really great for me! I also tried it in a chickenless egg :veggie scramble and it was delicious! I’ve only tried this brand so far but cheese is basically my favorite food (besides cake 😋) and I felt super satisfied! Thank you so much for sharing!! You guys are awesome and so helpful!! I’ve really been taking to this new plant based diet!! 🥳🥳🥳🥰♥️🌹
We are so glad you found something you enjoyed! Usually newbies don't like any cheese replacements, so you are going to do just fine!
@@MakeItDairyFree awwwww I just saw your response!!!! 😍🥰🥰🥰 Thank you so much!!!! Its now been about 2 months I think 🤔 and I am still loving this lifestyle!!! Your channel has been such a blessing!!! Thank you so much!! I tried Daiya because of y’all and I really like it!! I was so stoked that my local grocery store just started carrying a bunch of new options and I was able to pick up Vitolife and Chao to try!! I also saw some field roast breakfast sausages and I was so excited because I know y’all love their hotdogs! You two are so wonderful and I am so grateful for your channel!!! ♥️
First off I want to say I love you two! I really enjoy you videos! I’m willing to try the Violife mozzarella now but really wasn’t before because of their cheddar. I had a weird taste. I would love to see a cheddar comparison because that is the cheese I would use more for things like tacos and quesadillas.
Great suggestion!
so helpful thank you
Violife mozzarella is my absolute favorite!!
Great choice
Miyoko's had me rechecking the ingredients 🥴. I said..."Ain't no way, this ain't dairy free".😂
hahaha that's always an awkward feeling when that happens!
@@MakeItDairyFree it’s the best tho
Violife mozzarella is my fave too. I used to HATE the Earth Grown straight out of the bag and thought that it was passable melted, but based on your review, I just went to my fridge and tasted some from my new bag unmelted and it's not terrible, so Earth Grown definitely fixed something over the past year. We always keep one bag of Violife in the house for when we're feeling fancy and a couple of bags of Earth Grown for our everyday mozzarella needs.
see, it is better right!? LOL
Personally I love the Trader Joe’s “Dairy free mozzarella style shreds” bonus is that it is $3.99, I don’t eat the cheese raw typically but when I was cooking with it I kept eating little pinches of it and it tastes pretty good uncooked.
Is the one you tried vegan though? There is one there that is dairy free, but still contains casein in it. I think it's the "almond" one.
I think adding prices next to the package would be helpful 😊 but great video! I am making the transition to being vegetarian and then vegan (baby steps lol) and this video is going to be great for future reference!
Checkout the viral video "Dairy is Scary" on RUclips!
The follow your heart mozzarella is nasty in my opinion, but their regular provolone, smoked provolone, and american are phenomenal!
Violife is my favorite for slices and easiest to find for me in my area
Thank you guys for this info trying to become a full on vegan and my challenge was what to eat and how to prepare it with these new substitutes
Definitely check out our other videos, especially our beginners one!
I really appreciate these videos, i’m on a hunt to find cheese that’s free from top allergens. And they forgot to mention that Chao shreds contain coconut oil.
If yall are about to do this again I can't recommend enough Parmela Mozzarella shredded cheese. Its the first one that made me go wow. Its creamy, smooth, no grit or texture and is my favorite on pizza as well. I've tried all of the ones shown here too and pretty much agree with your order so i'd imagine we value similar things. Hope you get your hands on some.
Violife is easy to buy in UK and I like it.It's our go to brand. Daiya has made its way over here but I don't think I'm keen on it and its so much more expensive than violife.
Just found out my daughter is lactose intolerant. Never had to deal with it so this is a completely new world to me. Any help like these reviews I can get is so much appreciated!
miyoko's butter is great, especially the garlic parm
Miyokos pepper Jack is my all time fave! Then follow your heart.
Good to know!
I love the violife cheese too! Their cheddar slices are great for grilled cheese! I also like the TJ’s vegan mozzarella style shreds- very good!
I highly recommend trying the Miyoko’s smoked mozzarella! It’s soooo good. Comes in as a wheel style and you can shred it (shreds easiest after being in the freezer 30 mins). It’s expensive though 😭
Haven't seen the smoked one. Have tried the original wheel
The smoked one is fantastic
“Daiya” and “follow you heart” are a win win for me 🙌🏽😊
Love it!
Good to hear your opinions here. Sure I'm a Miyoko super fan, because of her veganism, she walks her talk. But vegans are truthful right, so great to see this!
Totally get that
interesting & entertaining video. but i'm so jealous that you guys get all these options. meanwhile in japan, i've only seen beyond tofu cheese in the supermarket(which i didn't really like but kinda gotten used to it after a while) & 1 japanese brand on amazon hahahh
I haven’t tried the shreds but the Miyoko’s pepper jack slices are amazing! The cheddar has a strange, almost sweet flavor.
Facts the cheddar is good too but everyone has different taste buds
Her pepper jack is really good!
The peperjack is better overall. I have no idea why the cheddar tastes so odd to me. I was super excited and strongly disliked the slices and shreds for cheddar. The peperjack also melts easier which is weird because I would also think it's the same formula base.
The Cheddar tastes odd to me too. But I love the pepper jack :)
ok, I guess I did have someting else to say in regards to Miyoko's...they don't have the shredded cheese in my store for me to try, in which case I will take your word for it, but I just wanted to agree that yessssssss their butter is AMAZING!! The downside is it is expensive but I LOVE their butter.
Also, they have a creamery liquid pizza mozzeralla. I love pizza, but I haven't been eating any lately to pick up a bottle to try.... Just wondering if you tried it and what are your thoughts?
Violife has become a go to brand for me!! Have you guys tried the Trader Joe's mozzarella? I can't remember if it was in one of your taste test videos. That's my go to lately for pizza. My husband likes it so I consider that a win. I was scared of the Aldi brand but I guess I should try it now!
The TJs was in our first video, we hated it but now I'm wondering since Aldi changed theirs if TJs changed theirs too LOL
Thanks!!
The best one I have tried is Forager Queso Fresco --It really does taste like cheese and I have tried 2 or 3 from Violife and I thought those were all gross. Chao mac and cheese tasted like coconut oil to me. I love the Myoko's wheels esp. smoked mozz. I hardly eat vegan cheese anyway but every once in a while I have a little bit on nacho chips or taco. So like RinVibes said,, it gets so expensive with these that I don't wanna try anymore so I am really pleased with Forager for shredded cheese.
I just want to say y’all guys are a cute couple!!! And this helps me so much I can’t wait to try!!
thanks so much
Thank you for your reviews! After trying g a Bundchen of really gross cheeses I really liked the new daiya you guys recommended!
Great to hear!
I love your set
I'm so happy that I found your channel! I really depend on you all to tell me what's going to be good when going non dairy. So far, the cheese, and the sour cream have been a hit!!
We're so happy to hear that
@@MakeItDairyFree Thank you!
Thanks for the video! I'd rank Chao #1 of the brands I've tried. I truly hate the texture of Daiya and Follow Your Heart, so they're way at the bottom for me. I'd like to try the Violife but haven't found it nearby yet.
glad you have one you like!
Room temp 🤔 haven't heard that... thanks for the tip, I'm going to try that! Also, agree with the buttery...don't want that for mozzarella. Have you guys tried Behive vegan cheese? Think it's new... great video. Subscribed!
Haven't heard of that one!
Violife is my favorite. Also what vegan multivitamin do you all take
I agree 100% that Chao disappointed with their shreds, the slices are so much better! It’s my favorite vegan cheese alongside Miyoko’s cheese wheel.
Violife Epic Mature cheddar and Feta are the only two vegan cheeses I've tried that aren't gross. Still need to try Chao. Honestly, I am trying to be healthier anyway, so I'd rather not eat something calorific that tastes like plastic.
Have you ever tried the So Good Vegan cheese that they sell at Walmart? It taste so realistic. They only have shreds cheddar & mozzarella & slices at my local Wal-mart. Maybe you could find other types. Cause I can never find Parmesan, cream cheese, sour cream in any brand in my area.
Also do you have any receipts for cream cheese or sour cream? Thank you for your content. I'm extremely new to all this so I'm still adjusting & trying to find almost anything vegan.
Wow! Now I can buy a dairy free cheese for my salad. I remember trying Daiya cheese. Glad there’s an improved version!
Hope you find one to enjoy
I am definitely NOT trying to make more work for you 😬🤭 But…can I make a suggestion? Would you write down your picks as a checklist or number of what is bad to good?
i.e.
Brand Taste texture Cost melts smell
Violife. 7 8 3 6 5
FYH ……..
It will give us all the senses of the brands, cause eating is definitely an all encompassing experience but we can get a better feel of what to buy based on the categories that may be different between you and us as the watcher/consumer.
Thanks for doing the work for us by reviewing!! It has been good to see what’s new.
I’ve been buying Violife cheeses, Shreds and Sandwich slices, For $2.50, at Grocery Warehouse Outlet , here in Southern California 👍🏼💯
Do you guys have a video on why you went vegan? I’d love to hear your story
We don't yet! Hopefully we can add one soon! Thanks for the feedback
Love this idea!
The Chao shredded cheese I just used and created a pizza with Tabitha Brown's plant based BBQ Meat from Target. It didn't melt as good but the pizza was really good. I liked it more than the others I've eaten. Closest thing to real cheese I have tasted. Trader Joes has an Almond Cheese that has a sweet taste to it. But it is only good when cooked into dishes.
We tried the Daiya Cutting Board mozzarella in your artichoke spinach dip on Christmas Eve and it was SUPER OILY! I would not recommend using it for baking!
Hands down follow ur heart nothing beats it
I love Chao slices for grilled cheese sandwiches and follow your hearts shreds
Yes!
Hi I just found your channel. My grandkids are gluten and dairy free what cheese is the best for Mac and cheese ?
