I just made grilled cheese for lunch yesterday. I used the so delicious american style. It didn't melt as well as I liked but it was still really good.
My favorite way to make a grilled cheese is to add some veganaise, Dijon mustard, and a little nooch to the bread on the cheese side. I've been using the Good Planet. But I actually like Daiya American 😆
I am yet to try that particular Violife flavor, but the rest of their stuff is next level, their greek white and "epic mature" are my favorite vegan chesses, and they taste so different as well
Chao doesn’t try to be a cheddar or american, and I believe that’s what makes it best cold. It’s cheesy-ish but you’re not trying to compare it to a cheddar or American
I’ve been virtually lactose-free for almost a decade and so while I use regular butter, I won’t use American style slices. Go veggie has been my go-to after an unfortunate brush with Daiya and Violife. Go Veggie cheese definitely tastes like any old American slice (I actually hate American cheese unless it’s melted)…but it does have that sour aftertaste. You don’t get the aftertaste when it’s inside the sandwich.
If you want to make an outstanding grill cheese you need to cook it right. Violife is a 5/5 when you use a cheese slice and shreds around the corners. You get a cheese pull for days!
So delicious looks amazing I prefer Violife and or homemade vegan cheeze thanks for this video. I’ve been vegan for eight and wow all the options now I was so use to making my own cheeze.
I feel like Follow Your Heart has changed since I first had it two years ago. Back then, it was great melted on a plant burger. I just bought it again this week and the smell alone was off-putting. And the taste was pungent and weird. It wasn't expired and it looked fine, so I'm wondering that's just how it is now. Ugh.
I really like the Violife Mature Cheddar and Cheddar slices, but they were sold out at the store one day, so I got the American Sandwich Slices instead…EW. I don’t know why, but they don’t taste good at all, especially compared to the 2 cheddar varieties! They’re so different!
violife cream cheese is great; kite hill chive cream cheese and kite hill butter is wonderful. Follow your heart cheese and mayo are great too. I bought a Daiya chese pizza once - never again!
I love Violife feta and hard parm block, Shredding that one myself. They taste just like I remember. I love Chao original, to me tastes like mild swiss. sodium citrate is miraculous. I'm not vegan (though I eat vegan food very often!), and I use it to make cheese sauce with dairy cheddar, so I'm definitely gonna try it with vegan cheddar. tapioca starch has that gooeyness that makes a lot of sense here; brilliant!
I've gone back and forth with them, I think maybe if I wasn't comparing it to other cheeses it might've faired better. I was into the American slices when they first reformulated them a while back.
I have colon issues, what cheese is better for you vegan or goat cheese. I’ve been doing the Violife cheddar. I use my George Forman grill to make mine.
Now I’m craving a grilled cheeze sandwich! 😋😋😋 I haven’t seen that So Delicious one in any stores around me. I suppose either WF or TJ’s has them, but they are over an hour away. So far, I think I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve tried from So Delicious.
Vegan eighteen years, veg ten years before that. The first seven years off dairy I did without. The fake dairy was so nasty. So I was a Polack living without sour cream!!! I was a huge fan of gourmet cheeses. I have some faves now. Don't care for Chao, Violife tastes like chevre, which I hate, except their Parm wedge. I use Daiya shreds or, for mozz, the Follow Your Heart. Follow Your Heart that is always in my fridge, Bleu crumbles, feta crumbles, smoked Gouda slices. Tofutti sour cream and cream cheese. Kite Hill Greek yogurt. Grapeseed Veganaisse. Earth Balance butter, organic or original if they are out. Just Egg liquid for scrambles, Ener-G Egg Replacer for baking. Maple syrup instead of honey. Veganism no longer even requires sacrifice. Btw I discovered when I layer Follow Your Heart mozz, Daiya cheddar, and Violife Parm on my Sunday ziti and bake it till I get a little black in spots, it tastes like asiago!!!
(Pre-video) "Hey I'm about to rock some grilled cheese sandwiches tonight for dinner, let's see if Burger Dude uses the same tricks / digs the same kind of cheeses we do.." We'll have to give the So Delicious a shot. Have only tried the shredded So Delicious which we didn't like much. Agree on Daiya; everything Daiya I've ever tried has been inedible. The Chao is our favorite go-to for grilled cheese, sandwiches, and making mac & cheese. Instead of butter on the bread, I like to use a thin layer of vegan mayo instead.
Are there any vegan cheeses that would be good for enchiladas? I'm not vegan, but have been considering going vegan and cutting out sugar as well. I tried one kind of vegan cheese and it wasn't good. 😢
I like the Chao original cheese on sandwiches too, but I also tried it melted (in a quesadilla), and it was kind of gross. Daiya still has a LONG way to go. The block of cheddar is ok, but the shreds are disgusting.

If you want to make an outstanding grill cheese you need to cook it right. Violife is a 5/5 when you use a cheese slice and shreds around the corners. You get a cheese pull for days!
My fav is Voilife and Field Roast Chao.
So delicious looks amazing I prefer Violife and or homemade vegan cheeze thanks for this video. I’ve been vegan for eight and wow all the options now I was so use to making my own cheeze.
My favorite is follow your heart love their American cheese and their my go to cheese all the time love the cheddar and mozzarella too…
I am just jealous at your access to vegan cheese my supermarket has just one option.
I need to get one of those smart griddle!!
Ty sir for your work.
when i was in america in 2020 i got the chao cheese to try in a grilled cheese but i ended up just eating the entire packet raw for the most part haha
Ugh.
Didn't Kraft just come out with vegan American cheese? I'd like to see you try that and let us know how it is!
Haven’t seen them!
Thanks for the video. My favorite vegan cheeses are Follow Your Heart and Violife.
I really like the Violife Mature Cheddar and Cheddar slices, but they were sold out at the store one day, so I got the American Sandwich Slices instead…EW.
I don’t know why, but they don’t taste good at all, especially compared to the 2 cheddar varieties! They’re so different!
If you're ever in the UK, I would love to know your thoughts on the Cathedral City dairy-free cheddar slices.
I love go veggie american slices .. Melts and taste great if u can get it try it
violife cream cheese is great; kite hill chive cream cheese and kite hill butter is wonderful. Follow your heart cheese and mayo are great too. I bought a Daiya chese pizza once - never again!
I love Violife feta and hard parm block, Shredding that one myself. They taste just like I remember. I love Chao original, to me tastes like mild swiss. I love daiya block cheddar, shredded myself but I cant seem to find it anymore. Never cared for any myka. I'll try your way of melting, I live grilled chz. Thanks
I like the Violife Parm. Their other cheeses taste like chevre to me, which I hate. Have you tried Follow Your Heart feta? And Bleu!
@@wideawake5630 I do like follow your heart feta crumble, I take some with me when I eat a greek salad at the restaurant. I also like FYH shaky chz for pasta etc.
@@wideawake5630 I forgot to say I have always hated anything to do with blue chz, so I would never try that one
Violife Smoked Gouda is my current favorite. But only eat it with some tofurky on Hawaiian bread
King's Hawaiian bread?
@@jameshouse2982 no its an off brand idk the name exactly
Oh! Lest we forget SoDelicious cashew milk salted caramel cluster ice cream. I take it out a few minutes early and let it start getting a little bit melty.
sodium citrate is miraculous. I'm not vegan (though I eat vegan food very often!), and I use it to make cheese sauce with dairy cheddar, so I'm definitely gonna try it with vegan cheddar. tapioca starch has that gooeyness that makes a lot of sense here; brilliant!
Ive only every tried the Daiya and I love it. Maybe I need to branch out.
I've gone back and forth with them, I think maybe if I wasn't comparing it to other cheeses it might've faired better. I was into the American slices when they first reformulated them a while back.
Yes that’s my go to cheese too. I’ll try the others and see which ones taste the best👍🏽
I hate Daiya, but many seem to love it.
I have colon issues, what cheese is better for you vegan or goat cheese. I’ve been doing the Violife cheddar. I use my George Forman grill to make mine.
Thanks!
Chao is my fav for grilled cheese 😅
365 is my favorite! that's crazy
How can we tell when the pan is at 300 degrees? Is there a pan thermometer to measure this?
What do you think of Mycoprotein and morning star brand? Quorn feels pretty special as a chicken substitute.
(Pre-video) "Hey I'm about to rock some grilled cheese sandwiches tonight for dinner, let's see if Burger Dude uses the same tricks / digs the same kind of cheeses we do.."
We'll have to give the So Delicious a shot.
I been having a hard time finding vegan white bread... do you guys recommend any specific brands?
Some white bread are vegan by accident, I found my main bread brand just reading the nutrition labels in the store lol
You gotta try the ultimate chick fillet!
The applewood Smokey vegan cheese is the only one I like melted
Just developed or worsened a dairy allergy… loving all the vegan cheese content because this is going to be a struggle and a half
My favorite mozzarella is Miyokos and Violife is my go to cheese
My new fave is Good Planet cheese.
What kind of camera are you shooting with, format, ediring software and export settings? :D Nice quality!
Thanks, I use Sony a6400s, and Premiere to edit. I have a link to my camera gear in the description!
Not vegan but recently diagnosed with crohns so have cut out cheese and milk but still want a replacement.
Have you seen the pepper jack version of Simple Truth vegan cheese in Kroger? That's what I currently get. So good!
I just tried violife mozzarella shreds
it stinks so bad lol but taste good looking to try more tho
Are there any vegan cheeses that would be good for enchiladas? I'm not vegan, but have been considering going vegan and cutting out sugar as well. I tried one kind of vegan cheese and it wasn't good. 😢
What's in the butter
I like the Chao original cheese on sandwiches too, but I also tried it melted (in a quesadilla), and it was kind of gross.
Daiya still has a LONG way to go. The block of cheddar is ok, but the shreds are disgusting.
