If you are in a hurry or can't find some ingredients for the fishy stock, a simple mix of lemon juice, soy sauce/tamari, and kelp powder (or ground nori) does the job as well. I've been using it for my faux-tuna recipe for years!

My man, you get it. This is what ex- vegans miss--fattening and familiar tastes. I admit, i miss mcdonalds sometimes, but knowing it comes from dead animals quiets that. But this is amazing. I'm going to try this, especially because it's low process and i have most of the ingredients
made a double batch of this tonight but for the breading i used toasted gluten-free bread (blitzed up in the food processor with a little old bay seasoning and corn starch,) and then i used just egg as the binder and man it came out perfect. i also used a crank down tofu press and let the extra firm air dry in the fridge overnight before i did that absolutely incredible 24 hour marinade. obsessed!

This looks wonderful! I might try it with a toned down "fishy" (but still salty and delicious) flavor. I never liked fish but always liked fried things and tartar sauce!
@@kateliness2 hi Kate, I haven't tried this particular recipe just yet, but I've used all the same seasonings with tofu and chickpeas, but I use at least double (I was never too much in to fish either) what TBD has used here, and even that's pretty mild, so it might be worth trying TBDs measurements just once and see how you like it 😊
we tried this recipe last night and OMG -- it is sooooooo freaking delicious!!! using oyster crackers for breading is GENIUS! this fish filet was incredibly buttery - how?! it's like a super yummy flaky white fish deep fried. the melty american cheese (vegan) and tartar sauce made this sandwich exactly like McDonald's filet of fish BUT way superior!!! unbelievably good!!
I've been making tofu "fish" filets for a while now where I just wrap the tofu in nori then batter and fry but this looks like a far better way to make them! Thanks for sharing this awesome recipe. I'll definitely be giving this a try👍🌱🙂
@@erikalessard I haven't tried it yet because I need to get the ingredients but my tofu "fish" was only nori wrapped tofu battered and fried so this one is automatically going to be more flavorful due to the tofu being scored and marinated before frying. I'm Canadian and had never heard of or seen oyster crackers before. Based on the name I would not have guessed they are vegan! This recipe looks fire and I can't wait to try the tartar sauce!
This is so easy and looks amazing! I remember when I stopped eating fish, I relapsed 6 months later and ate a Filet-o-Fish, I fed sick to my stomach after so that was the end of any meat/seafood for me. But I CRAVE that taste so much, I must try this asap!
Ich fucking respect that you do vegan meals. Animal cruelty free and not killing the planet. Especially with all the trends of "tooooday we are cooking half a cow" or "For this video I'm going to eat every animal that I can buy in the supermarket...".

Would love a video on different styles of vegan pizza. The previous video on garlic bread pizza was helpful, but I’m specifically looking for guidance on Detroit-style or Chicago-style pizzas. I find these pizzas (which typically have sauce on top of the cheese) mask any shortcomings found in the plant-based cheese.
Right on time, I found a jar of spicy pickles in the fridge yesterday and planned on making tartar sauce with it. I was trying to figure out how to turn soy curls into fish, but this will work much better haha

When you press it you’re pushing out the liquid it was packaged in, the marinade soaks up the flavors
