I haven't bought many sour creams. I bought the forager recently. It was okay. I usually make the Mcdougal sour cream in my blender as needed. I add a little lactic acid to the Mcdougal recipe. We just rarely use it 😆 But I do love it
But...I have had the tofutti and it was also okay 😆
To me, once I mix it into the Taco, I really can't discern the taste because the Taco seasonings take over
Kite Hill is the best..the only sour cream I will use. Yes dairy sour cream has tang.
Violife and Miyokos...I like the Forager one too but you have to stir it

Kite Hill is my favorite! I’ve used the cream cheese in mashed potatoes, their ricotta cheese in lasagna, etc, with VioLife shredded cheese...😋

I like the Tofutti to mix with a jar of salsa. It makes an excellent dressing for any tex-mex dish. The really thick texture of the Tofutti is ideal for this.

I like the 30min ish videos. Feels like an honest review/reaction. Never feels like there's filler. I like the texture shots. I think it would be interesting to see if you like any of them as an ingredient in a recipe, especially if you didn't like it straight up.

Super helpful thank you! You’re right it is so hard to find wayfaire or fyh sour cream but now I will put forth the extra effort. Tofutti is my go to but it’s definitely not perfect.

Toffuti is MY GO TO! Tastes just like creme fresh!!!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥 i even use it on bagels like cream cheese but i use the sour cream bc it’s creamier. Love it!

@@MakeItDairyFree run from veganism. support ur local farm with pasture raised animals. humans cannot sustain themselves on veganism. its delusional, horrible for your health, for the air, soil and its a very materialistic/consumer mindset. these people are searching for something that can be naturally made from healthy cows. it contain natural bacteria, vitamin a, b12, b6, calcium, vitamin d, saturated fat... all with one ingredient. while they consume plant and seed sludge with 5+ ingredients in plastic. a local dairy farm u can reuse glass jars... u will be healthy, ur wallet and the planet will be healthy as well.

Wait! Wayfare had THE BEST sour cream and then the recipe changed, it was more like yogurt consistency...but the ones you guys tried looks like the old one! I gotta give it a try again. Thanks for the video!
Sour cream _is_ yogurt-adjacent . . . And Larish'a blouse is so lovely and a sitting duck for upspits : ) Sour cream, like yogurt, is another product I abandoned upon becoming vegan, but I'm a Slavic person--we put sour cream on everything--so that one has been hard to give up. If you stir the Forager really well, it has a very smooth consistency. Much more appealing lol
As a non vegan Kite Hill is incredibly authentic tasting. It legitimately taste like dairy sour cream. No comparison.
I just tried the forager sour cream for the first time the other day and when i opened it, i was APPALLED. It just looked so unappetizing. I stirred it and it got better, but it just wasn't good. So i mixed it with buffalo sauce and buffalo seasoning cause i could not eat it by itself. It made a decent creamy buffalo sauce.

I tried Kite Hill last night and was blown away. Tastes just like sour cream and didn't get any of that citrusey flavor you guys were talking about. Maybe they changed the formula.

Kite Hill Sour Cream is AMAZING… has slight tartness like real sour cream! I wish it cost less or gave more in the package.
As you said in your cream cheese taste test - I am old school. I enjoy Tofutti. But as Oui is my fave yogurt, too. I am inspired to "branch out" and try some new brands.
I totally agree with y’all on the Foragers! I don’t mind their yogurt with fruit and nuts and a little granola but the sour cream was an immediate no for me! I really didn’t care for the consistency or flavor! Y’all led me right tho with the Daiya new recipe for shredded cheese!!! Love love love your channel!! You have a beautiful family 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

If you live where there is a Kroger, Simple Truth Plant Based Sour Cream is the best!! I was struggling to find something that tastes like real sour cream, and this one did it. I am NOT a fan of cashew cream, so that wasn’t an option for me. I would be curious to try Follow Your Heart Sour Cream if I can find it

I’ve only tried the Tofutti, Kite Hill, & Good Karma. As a vegan of over 25 years, I’ve had the Tofutti many, many times. It was the only player in the game forever. While not flavored exactly like dairy sour cream, I was always fine with it & still buy it occasionally. I’ve had the Kite Hill several times more recently, & I do like it. I love the KH cream cheese. I tried the Good Karma once & hated it. I’d like to try Follow Your Heart, as I love their Vegenaise.

I will try to look for the Follow Your Heart sour cream. I’m extremely surprised you didn’t like Forager! My family who is not vegan totally liked Forager. They stopped buying real sour cream. Forager sour cream is often out of stock for us. Perhaps I bought a different version than you guys.

I buy Tofutti, but I've tried both Forager and Good Karma and I like them. I honestly by Tofutti because it's in a smaller tub and we don't eat enough sour cream to go through that big ol' tub before it spoils. I'd bee excited to try Follow Your Heart.

I Iove Forager as well, maybe from now on I shouldn't watch food review videos because I can see it's possible the people judging may not like what you would like, and then you go through life never trying it but if you did it would have been your favorite
I've been steering clear of vegan sour cream. I had high hopes for the Kite Hill though because I've had their chive cream cheese and liked it. After seeing this review, I hope I can find the Follow Your Heart brand to try.
We don't like the original KH cream cheese, but never tried the chive, so you may like this one
Can't say that i agree with your rankings. In order of what I have tried so far - Kite Hill, Forager and at the very bottom Good Karma. Will never buy or eat Good Karma again - Threw it away after I bought and tasted it. Forager has a coconut after taste, however I would buy Forager again. Kite Hill taste ok alone or but great in an onion dip.
Thanks I will keep my open for the ones I have not tried yet... Tofuti my current nondairy winner so far... but the other two top picks I have not had yet. Other brands I have tried were yucky... finally found a plant based yogurt I can live with.

There might be better brands I have not found or tried yet, but it’s not tasting totally weird like some things I’ve tried... that went straight to the trash bin. I am trying to find plant product substitutes that don’t just taste good but offer similar qualities as the dairy they replace (the second part is hard as they are often way more calories or high in saturated fats worse then the dairy, and the taste side involves other family members too... so still mostly Vegetarian but trying to find options more Vegan... did find a plant based whip cream everyone like! Non-dairy Almond Milk Reddi Whip).
I was so excited when I found Good Karma sour cream! Then I tasted it, yuck! 🤢 I am happy to see this taste test and this makes me want to try the Follow Your Heart brand. I have not seen the Wayfair brand in my area. Thanks for this 💚

WayFare sour cream is available at Kroger under the name “Simple Truth Plant Based Dairy Free Sour Cream Alternative”.

I also find that vegan sour creams usually taste like cream cheese. The Tofutti one was the last I tried. I 100% recommend getting unsweetened almond/soy/cashew (not coconut though) yogurt and squeezing a little lemon in it. Makes an excellent sour cream/crema for tacos :)

I just tried a newer one that's not on here, Violife sour cream. It's fair. I remember preferring Kroger's Simple Truth sour cream, which, as you said in a previous comment, appears to be WayFare repackaged... ingredients are almost identical and the box is even the same shape. (BTW, some of the Simple Truth frozen meat substitutes appear to be repackaged Gardein, or at least manufactured by Gardein.) I'll have to try the Follow Your Heart next.
I have purchased Wayfare for some while best out there.. Only concern is it tends to go mouldy fast and does not keep for long

I think the follow your heart brand taste more like greek yogurt! I always end up going back to homemade cashew sour cream
The first time I had follow your heart, 4 years into being vegan, I got a runny/liquidity container, so I guess consistency/stability was an issue with the product, either way it was disgusting and I didn't retry it until a year ago and it was so good and thick. My fave sour cream. Tofutti was my go to for years even though it's a better cream cheese than sour cream imo.

I’ve always used the Tofutti brand. I had avoided the FYH brand (even though I love their cheeses) just because it was a bigger container and had a shorter shelf life. After years I finally gave in and bought it. I was so impressed and thought it was spot on. I went through many containers. Then to my dismay (gasp) they changed formula by making it soy free. After that I just didn’t like it anymore. I was so sad. I even emailed them about it. I wish they had the original version as well. I’ve seen reviews of a a Simple Truth brand that a lot of people like.

I’ve been trying to find the Follow Your Heart sour cream EVERYWHERE. Did they stop making it? Anyone know? None of the stores near me carry it, even the ones who carry their other products, and all the sites that reference it online say “Out of Stock” 😢
If you have an ingles you can find the follow your heart or good karma. Im gonna give the follow your heart another try. It's been a while since I gave it a try.
7:00 The probiotics will still be fermenting the sugars (and thus making the cream more sour) as the days after the production pass so probably the closer it is to the expiry date the more sour it will be. Similar as in the case of yoghurts - maybe that was the case ;P
