  • Vegan Bacon Review and Taste Test! Yall have asked and asked for the video and it's finalllllyyyy here!
See which is the best vegan bacon in our review and taste test! What should you spend your money on and which you should pass on!?
We are trying 8 different vegan bacon products from 7 different brands.
    Notes:
*We purposely did not purchase Sweet Earth. This is a personal preference. It is a Nestle brand and we do not support their companies when we know they own them. You can google "why not to support Nestle" for more info.
*GTFO apparently stands for Great Foods not get the eff out (whoops!)

I am a small town girl (less than 2000 people!) in the south (double whammy!) so vegan is absolutely ridiculous to try to do…but I do. Thank goodness for shipping! You have no idea how much you have helped me on this journey! I hate investing in an expensive item hoping I will like it and praying I don’t have to chunk it in the trash after the first taste test, because some items aren’t cheap. You guys and I are totally in sync flavor wise and I appreciate you two so VERY VERY much, so THANK YOU! 🥰

Nestle is a multi billion, or trillion dollar corporation, they get rich off of poor people, needing clean water, and formula, at expensive amounts of money! I believe this is what they are talking about. I'm not 100% sure of all the details, I'm probably missing allot here, but I seen a story on nestle years ago, written by an ex employee, and it mentioned what I said here, but in more extensive details, look it up on line, or here on RUclips, so you can see 4 yourself.

I wish there was youtube and your channel years and years ago when i was vegetarian in my teens to late 20s. The sheer lack of support from family, community, friends and no real support groups or even vast vegan/vegetarian options to buy, cookbooks, channels etc I sadly fell. Alot of people say I was not really a Vegetarian/Vegan for the real reasons. So not true. I know my heart. I dont know how i found your channel but when I did i felt comfortable and supported right away and went right back into my old ways. Vegan from that day forward till now and always. Thank you for not being judgemental and helping all walks of life start their journeys right were they are. Your both appreciated.

This didn't go as bad as I expected, and it went pretty bad! 😅 You would think since bacon and cheese are the top foods preventing people from going vegan that there would be some better options out there. 😒
I do like the Sweet Earth one, although I do understand your issue with Nestle. They're a terrible company. I didn't know Sweet Earth was owned by them until kinda recently. I still think it's better to support vegan options, even from bad companies, just to bring up demand for more plant based foods. That being said, I haven't bought Sweet Earth in, like, 6 months.
I should try the Lightlife Smart Bacon. I've only tried the Tempeh Bacon and I don't care for it. I also just don't miss bacon that much. 🤷

I'm with Andrew on the saving some money, I know vegan food is still rather niche and that drives the price, but some of these companies are out of their minds! lol XD

I know you said you don’t support Nestle so I’m not sure if you ever did and tried Sweet Earth before but I can tell you it tastes something like a mix of the 2 bad ones from the first round (Soy Boy & the seitan). The smoke flavor is pretty high, the texture is like doughy in the center and burned to a crisp on the edges, it falls apart when you peel it, it’s messy as hell… long story short, you’re not missing anything! Only other non-meat bacon I ever had was Morningstar Farms a few years ago and to me it tasted like bitter flavored felt. Wasn’t something I wanted to purchase again.
That Hooray looked like fruit leather! The others in that group, I agree, didn’t look anything like bacon. Even the ones that tried to do “fat streaks” looked horrible! You have me interested in the All Vegetarian Co bacon tho. I’ve seen the Lightlife bacon but for some reason, it doesn’t draw me in so I walk past it all the time. Maybe I’ll grab a pack next time especially because I stopped eating pork when I was 12 so I’m very used to the taste of Turkey bacon. 👍🏽 🥓

Definitely look in an east Asian grocery store for the All Vegetarian one. The only national chain I know of is H Mart (Korean). Generally the frozen section will have a vegetarian section, but it may not be labeled. (Do not bother with websites if they have one because it is probably terrible.)

I’ll be honest and say I like the Lightlife Tempeh bacon but then I love tempeh and I’m not trying to replace bacon. I like it as its own thing, smoky tempeh, but it’s WAY too expensive to get on a regular basis. I’d like to try others but there has to be a cheaper way to ship refrigerated products.

Bleaf & All Veg Inc. reminds me of Sizzlean style bacon

  • @IntoSunshine
    @IntoSunshine 2 года назад +2

All Vegetarian Inc. is 🔥. I tear them in half vertically, cook them in a little oil until they're brown, then drain on a paper towel (I tear instead of cut because I realized the rougher edge makes them wavy as they cook. Fun, but not necessary lol). The Thrilling is good, just grainy & too costly for what you get, especially when All Vegetarian's exists; It's like all they did was season & color some tofu. I read the reviews on Thrilling's bakon beforehand, so I was mindful of its fragility & I found that you really have to use 2 hands or 4 fingers to keep it uniform from package to pan. The level of meticulousness how I imagine one would cook The Queen's bacon 😒🤣.

I've tried all those bacon but the Thrilling brand and I'm not a fan of any. I use the Vegetarian Plus like ham instead of bacon...ham n cheese. I was so excited about Hooray bacon then dissapointed. The best vegan bacon for me so far is the rice paper bacon you make at home. Cheap n easy n looks more like bacon and gets crispy n you flavor it like you want. I think Impossible and Beyond are probably waiting to perfect their vegan bacon before they offer it. High standards are expected from them so they ain't risking a shoddy half baconed product lol

Most vegan brands are owned by a meat company which is unfortunate but the brand itself is still vegan. Nestle is more of a human rights issue for us. If you google "why not support Nestle" you will get a ton of reasons :)
