    www.masteringdiabetes.org/mas...
    When your kidneys are constantly exposed to high blood glucose, they can be damaged over time. How? By narrowing and clogging the kidneys' blood vessels. Diabetes can also damage your kidneys by damaging nerves in your body, including your bladder. With a damaged one, you may not be able to feel when your bladder is already full. And that pressure is a lot to endure by your kidneys. Lastly, urinary tract infection. Bacteria can grow rapidly in urine with a high sugar level. It may sound like your bladder's problem, but it sometimes spread to the kidneys.
    So yes, diabetes is one of the culprits. And that should worry anyone who has type 1 diabetes, type 1.5 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, or gestational diabetes.
    Now, there is a common misconception that eating foods containing potassium, phosphorus, and sodium will damage your kidneys and increase the concentration of these metabolites in your blood.
    But it’s important to understand that eating potassium-rich foods actually decreases your blood pressure. Hold on!
    So where do you start if you're looking forward to reversing kidney damage naturally through optimal nutrition?

    I went from stage III kidney failure diagnosis to no signs of kidney failure in 2 years. Now three years later you could never tell I was sick. A low fat whole food plant based diet cured me and I will never look back! 😎

    Bravo!! Been waiting for a kidney video from y’all. I’ve reversed my diabetes using your book, but I am just now at stage 3 ckd. I am continuing my diabetes reversal plant-based diet but have lowered my protein and no salt, no sugar, no oil and walking. Waiting for new bloodwork to be done in July to see if I have halted or dropped the eGFR or not. I have faith in the WFPB diet with no oil, no sugar, no salt and will continue it the rest of my life. I also have CHF that I am battling as well. Thank you for your book and huge efforts to let us all know these lifestyle diseases can be stopped and reversed!!♥️

    From what I understood here… Potassium, Phosphorus and Sodium is not an issue as long as it’s from plant based foods. So bananas, and avocados are okay to eat? How about root veggies like potatoes, sweet potatoes and carrots? How about the worry of oxolates from greens?

    How about salt ? Do you promote like Dr Goodhamer to eliminate added salt from our diet ?

    • @dj-fe4ck
      @dj-fe4ck 2 года назад +1

      There is no reason to totally eliminate salt. Most days I don't have any but I can't go weeks or months without it. Not safe, at least for me it's not. Up to 2 or 3 grams of sodium a day is not too much

    • @MasteringDiabetes

      The minimun amount of sodium is 500 mg, but you got to have in mind that the sodium in Whole foods is regulated by the potasium in the same food, the problems comes when we add sodium, potasium , fosforus etc, to our foods, or the opposite, if we take out all the sodium like on purified water we can be on a déficit and get bradicardias/tachicardias, low blood pressure etc , all kind of problems

  • @nataliefoss5629
    @nataliefoss5629 11 месяцев назад

    I'm very confused. Plant based spikes my blood sugar so I have to take my insulin. And I have low hemoglobin , red blood count, iron etc. Can I do plant based but still use a grass fed supplement? I feel so much better on protein and organ supplements.
    I most likely have stage 3. Wouldn't an a1c spike be dangerous? I cant eat most fruit. No grains ( I'm mostly paleo and they do not sit well with me) protein from meat is one of few foods that doesn't hurt my stomach. If I do plant based I'll be stuck with limited veggies as most oxalate hurts etc. Higher blood sugar at least temporarily. So is it best to use insulin and eat plant based anyway? Right now im clean low carb . So low to no insulin. I cant keep flip flopping.

    • @Mr-hn2bp

      Stop metformin if you are taking it. It suppresses mitochondrial functions. C-peptide which is cosecreted with insulin is required for maintaining kidney health. Hyperinsulinemia, however, hurts the kidneys causing salt (sodium) retention that increases blood pressure. The hypertension in turn damaged the kidneys. We need to stay in the Goldilocks zone of everything.

    My kidney function dropped from the mid 70's down to 47, I am scared I switched to a whole foods plant based diet,
    My protein intake is not that high, i eat peas, chick peas and centre my meals around potatoes and beans etc, I do not consume dairy, i eat bran flakes and soya milk and fruit in the morning
    Baked potatoes and beans or rice and beans in the afternoon
    And a vegetable based dish with chapati or rice in the evening.
    I only drink water, but have 1 coffee or tea with soya milk
    Can this be reversed. (i also have type 2 diabetes this is in ok control).
    I am hoping my switch to this lifestyle will reverse all of this. I used to drink a lot of diet cola, which is what i suspect may have caused this for me.
