    This kind of diet works for me. I'm no longer diabetic and lost a lot of weight without "starving" myself. The nonsense that comes from anti carb high fat advocates is distressing.

    I know this works. My a1c went from 13 to 7.2 in three months. I also lost 17 pounds. I’m off the wagon for a little bit but I’m now back on track. This really does work fast.

    You guys are great! Even though I reversed by type 2 DM 5 years ago I still like to watch these videos. Keep up the great work! Btw every once in a while I have someone ask how I did it. Ultimately past all the great tasting food and learning from you guys it came down to inflammation leads to pain and suffering. Why have pain and suffering living in your home. Kick em out and bring in joy and happiness. Stop procrastinating and just do it. Go whole food plant based!

      Please, advise :
      I try your diet, BUT:
      2 small apricots or 4-5 pieces of blackberries cause a huge spike of 300-350!!! Not talking about significant amounts of fruits.
      I’m Pre -diabetic.

      You never said about people with diabetes who eat fruits, especially significant amounts. Are they predominantly on diabet. Medications?

    The whole keto fad has totally taken over the minds of people barely understanding what diabetes is. Either type 1 or 2.
    I see it everywhere... Whenever I try to share my great experience on mastering diabetes approach that I am continuing for 4 years (19 years with type 1 already), sharing that I am thriving, even though I was super healthy before. Just simply insulin resistant and very unstable with my glycemia, lots of highs and lows. Since I made myself more insulin sensitive, keeping the balanced glycemia while being even more active is super easy, almost effortless.
    Yet still I hear from people that I should go/try keto. And I'm like: Dude, but WHY? What for?
    It's difficult to get through that wall of keto or low carb fascination and ignorance.
    Especially all advice I see everywhere on how to deal with insulin resistance is... By going keto. And this usually comes from educated dieticians...
    It's tough out there...

      Keto is not a fad diet bacause that would completely reverse diabetes 2 and insulin resistance. The two persons behind the "mastering diabetes" diet, have not managed to bring their A1C in the normal range, it is still in the prediabetic range.

    Thanks, Cyrus for the video. I follow primarily a whole Food plant based diet (60 to 75% of daily calories from carbohydrates, 10-20% from protein and fat), with animal protein as part of that (including eggs, salmon, bison, cheese). I’d say 80% of what I eat is either unprocessed or minimally processed, leaving room for the occasional pizza slice or dessert. My understanding on saturated fat is to keep saturated fat calories to 10% or less of total daily calories.

    Thanks for this valuable info and science-backed data. I'm 42 and just got my A1C checked for the first time in my life, it was 8.5. I'm determined to cut out all processed food and exercise, etc. to kick this now. Any advice on 2-3 best go-to meals at home to eat easily. I'm into plant-based and doing what I need to do to reverse this. Starting from the ground up here. TIA.

    We know why most people don't know that a diet high in complex carbohydrates and low in fat are best for avoiding diabetes or reversal of diabetes symptoms and manage diabetes. That is because of what the medical profession and books promoting low carb diets.

    I have a question for Cyrus and Robby: what do you guys think of small amounts of tahini? I use up to a tablespoon (or less) a day of tahini for making salad dressings. I pour off the sesame oil when opening a new jar of it. I've been whole food plant-based ( McDougall-style) for over 30 years but in May of this year at age 65 I had a baseline A1C of 5.7 and my doctor is concerned.

      I am 45yrs old, have a beautiful family of 3 kids who I want to see grow up to live their lives and a wife I want to grow old with together. I feel that I am literally fighting for my life since diagnosed with T2 diabetes in 2019. I often feel hopeless unable to improve the situation...this is hard for me to write, tears in my eyes...ok deep breaths. I have been in the hospital 3 times from diabetes complications and have chest pains regularly. If I had one wish it would be to live life without the fear of having a heart attack and or not being able to say good bye to the ones that love me. I thank God every morning after I open my eyes. I would not wish this on anyone. It is all I can think about.

    If it’s possible to reduce fat to 30g per day but whilst still using a little bit of oil (unsaturated) and a small amount of very lean turkey mince in the early days of transitioning would this still work? My mother has been on a very restricted diet due to gut issues and doesn’t tolerate many whole grains, beans or legumes at the moment but we’re looking to make some gradual changes over time. Just wondering, if we can’t do all the rules at once what is the main one to start with, the amount of fat, the type of fat or where the fat comes from?

    I reversed my diabetes many years ago by eating relatively low carb. Lately, I've trying to switch to a vegan diet. But I still find that foods like oatmeal just raise my glucose too much. (Yes, of course it was not sweetened or instant oatmeal!)

    What about if you have gastritis? Fruits and raw vegetables are very difficult to eat with autoimmune gastritis. I find all of this very confusing and very technical.

    I crashed myself with keto diet. I can‘t live without carbs anymore. But I also can live with carbs. Sounds strange. Sometimes I measure Ketones in my blood although I eat carbs. Do I have Type 1 and need Insuline?

    I really enjoy your videos. However I am conflicted. There are so many compelling videos stating that CHOs are not an essential nutrient for a human. Of course their way is high protein and fat. The crossover between the two narratives is the affect of combining carbs with fat,which is something rarely found in nature,therefor the human body still doesn’t process it well. Which ultimately brings me to proper food combining. I feel the more info I gather the more I go around in circles.

    Is natural lean animal protein still an issue, aside from the cholesterol argument, if you are a committed weightlifting athlete trying to pack on as much natural muscle mass as possible and where there is a consistent higher than average energy requirement? If calorie intake is such that you are utilizing the majority, will there still be a backup of saturated fat in the cells causing an issue when utilizing a moderate carb, lean protein, otherwise low fat diet?

      All animal products should be avoided. There is no need for us to ever eat meat. Proteins originate from plants. Animal flesh is recycled proteins.

    I have type 2 diabeties, I've had it for 20 yrs, I am so confused on eating, what foods, now my dr just put me on insulin help, I am trying to go vegan, it's hard, majority of the vegan recipies are high carb, I tried so called low carb, mediterian diet, I am always hungry, so I will eat turkey, chicken, fish, but I never get full. I am now 61 and I want to take back my health, my dr insist on a S.A.D. diet, I know its not good,. Can you please help guide me in the right direction.

      Oat groats are oats in their whole, non-processed form. These are the most intact version of oatmeal.
      Beyond whole groats, all other oats represent different stages of processing. We recommend either whole groats or steel-cut oats when following the Mastering Diabetes Method. Quick oats are the most processed with rolled oats and old-fashioned oats right behind them.

    But how do you treat osteoporosis and diabetes on a low-fat diet? How do you get vitamin D3 vitamin K2 and vitamin A the fat soluble vitamins? Or even if you don't have osteoporosis but you have diabetes bone health is still very important how do you get the essential fat soluble vitamins for bone health?

      Vitamin D has nothing to do with diet. You can eat a 100% meat diet and be very deficient in Vitamin D if you don't get it from the sun or supplement. Vitamin A you get from beta carotene. As as omnivore, I still got all my Vitamin A from beta carotene because whatever animal fooda I ate had very little or no Retinol Vitamin A. I never ate organ meats or butter, which are the only animal foods that are high in Vitamin A.

      @@halfbakedmunky5566 It's not a sensitivity issue. Oxalic acid is a toxin. Just like other toxins they are not just affecting SOME people, it's affecting everyone. Problem is, most people doesn't understand that many of their different health issues stems from constantly eating more oxalates than we can handle. Sure, some people have better gut integrity and oxalobacter so therefore they can eat a larger amount before it gets stored, but oxalates are toxic to EVERYONE without exception. Just like arsenic or lead is toxic to everyone. And kidney issues are just a small fraction of what oxalates can cause. It literally is stored all around the body when we ingest more than our bodies can handle. Sad thing is that it can take years and years and years for it to build up and we have no clue that this is happening. Not many people can make the connection between their fibromyalgia, joint pain, eye styes, gut issues, cysts, bone density issues and so on so forth and the life time of overconsumption of oxalate rich foods. I got sicker and sicker the "healthier" I ate. And the sicker I got, I just doubled up on the "health" foods. It was perplexing to me why I just got sicker when I was eating "healthier" than everyone else I know! And it will take YEARS to clear out all of these oxalates that have been stored all around the body. If I can help someone to not make the same mistakes that I have done, I would be happy. Everyone in the plantbased community (and everyone else ofc aswell) need to understand the severity of oxalates. It's not just that "some" have to be careful. Everyone needs to be careful. You can absolutely eat some oxalates but most of us goes over our daily limit a hundredfold. Beets, beet greens, chard, spinach, rhubarb, celery, carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes, cacao, nuts, buckwheat, kiwis are just some examples....all high in oxalates and it all adds up. You can still eat a low oxalate plantbased diet, just know how to avoid the worst offenders. Choose romain over spinach, macadamia over almonds and so on. Potatoes are lower than spinach and chard ofc but if one eats a large amount it adds up. People just needs to be aware of this, it's destroying people's life and health. Plants have defensive chemicals, we need to acknowledge this and make informed decision about what and how much we ingest of certain plant toxins. People seem to think that plants only are benevolent but that's not the case. Fruits have less defensive chemicals than other plants. (Except for ofc kiwis and star fruits for example.) Join the Trying Low Oxalate Facebook group to learn more. There's a vegan subgroup for the plantbased people aswell. And go to Sally K Norton website, instagram and RUclips videos aswell if you want to hear more. It's a big topic and I can't summarize it all here.🌺

      Agreed with alot you said, but thats why you eat raw and no starches, thats the only way your body can detox oxalates out of the body, herbs and fruits. Why does the little babies love the fruit and ditch the veggies, we are frugivores.

      @@danijelhorvatincic9224 Fruits doesn't detox out oxalates, you start to dump oxalates as soon you go low oxalate, no matter the diet. If you join the Trying Low Oxalate group you can find people on all kinds of diets that successfully detox out oxalates.🌺

      @@cammieklundIf you think the oxalates are the only problem you have missed the planet, the kidney stones are not from the oxalates or the irish wouldn't survive the famine :). Your lymphatic system like the 99% of us is backed up and we all have manifestations of previous genetic trauma and weak organs. This body that i've got was so burdened with it and has so many disfunctions that most of the souls would stop its existence...but as i am an old one i just dont
      't care...that's why your push on oxalates is funny... like the doctors focused on pills :)

That I have been living on disability pension for 21 years bcs of the damages done by ingesting way too many oxalates during the years? That I will go through many more years with dumping symptoms before it gets better? It's interesting that people that HAVEN'T STUDIED THE SUBJECT think that they know anything about it and is smug and ignorant when someone is actually trying to help. How about opening your mind, get a little humble and realize that you might not know what you are talking about here? Sometimes I just get so effing tired of having to explain myself to people that are just trying to be right about topics they know nothing about. It's disheartening and it actually makes me sad.     I think Cyrus means well, but leading people up the garden path about saturated fat, cholesterol and meat is not the way to go. You should know better. You know these studies are associative and more often than not are not significant. They do NOT inform on risk and you shouldn't be claiming they do. There are plenty of inverse correlations but you fail to mention those or the meta analysis that says a different story. I hope it's ignorance of the literature and not a way to push veganism. DM is an important issue and it shouldn't be intertwined with ideology.

      Eat sardines. They are very healthy. They come in water. Don't get too dogmatic or give up animal protein.
