He did a good job singing some parts of songs but also made me realize how great of a singer Kurt really was lol. They’re all absolutely killing it on their instruments though. Probably the coolest celebrity livestream I’ve watched all quarantine
I used to think Post was a generic mumble rapper, but I dug into his music a bit and found out he's pretty good. Now after he did this, he has become one of my favorite artists.
Honestly, respect to Post. You can tell he respects the source material and didn’t just half ass the performance. Kurt was a one-of-a-kind, generational talent; he defined a generation of music as much anybody. Any criticism that tries to compare Kurt to Post in an attempt to discredit the latter is ridiculous. Of course Post isn’t Kurt; to expect that of anybody is unrealistic. I also dislike the idea of trying to discredit Post simply because he’s a pop musician or rapper. Rappers ARE musicians. There’s a lot of skill that goes into composing these beats and rhythms and melodies, and within that is an entire science itself. And regardless of all that, band sounded great; there’s no denying that. Post sounded good, albeit a bit flat, but hey; Kurt wasn’t perfect live either. Post did the song justice, and as a Nirvana fan, I enjoyed it.
You know who he is, stop acting like you're being cool by pretending you don't know him. Even if you don't listen to radio, his shit is all over movies, commercials, etc. I'm not even a post fan, but cmon.
Post malone is one of my favorite modern artists because you can tell he appreciates older music. I mean he kinda reintroduced Ozzy to the younger audiences.
Old me would have hated on you for not getting it at first, but posty has shown us that music is beautiful and gatekeeping is bullshit. These should be shared to all. Welcome to the club brotha!
aeromacin gatekeeping? Is that when someone shames another person for not knowing something a superfan knows? I’m so happy he did this because a lot of young people are not open minded about older music.
After watching this modern day musician absolutely nail Nirvana and Kurt Cobain, I came to the realization that Nirvana's Live in New York Unplugged just may be the best piece of recorded music ever made. Seriously a grunge artist unplugged, sounding that good. Mind Blown, Thanks Post! Amazing covers!
Yeah, that unplugged was so good with lots of covers from other artist, which made it quite different than other unplugged shows....Alice in Chains unplugged was killer too, those two bands unplugged shows were 2 best, most people think. Both singers died shortly after the unplugged gigs too, which kind makes them even more special
sensational vocal cover. really made me sit up and listen. he's exceptional... hell of a tribute, great to hear. oh yeah.. but kurts still king. that dude was broiling nails in his throat.
I was wondering about that, but then I realized I've only heard the song on the radio and assumed the "pretty songs" lyric must've been a radio edit version.
For posty this cover was pretty good !! The most misused lyric of all time with nirvana is with in bloom i use to always think kurt says " Dont know what it means" but he actually says "Knows not what it means " but regardless not bad posty
I used to think Post was just a normal shitty rapper like most of the other rappers these days, but after seeing this, my whole perspective/view on his changed. I only saw him as the dude that 'feels like a rockstar' and sang 'congratulations'. Now, I see him as an absolute legend. Something about his playing and singing just makes him unique.
Ok ok ok, from the rip... he doesn’t just hit the chords, the notes... he hits the balls of this classic ensemble, in the nuts , as represented originally by KB as if he was kin folk. Then Nevermind TB’s beat downs on this lick
Post Malone is so talented and I hate, hate, hate the Gen Z aesthetic of "Let's deliberately sound lazy and bad and boring to show how cool we are" that swallowed this gifted young man. Yes, Boomers said the same thing about punk, but punk rockers aren't talented.
Post is solid here, but my kudos are for Travis Barker. He's one of the few that can match Grohl's power (which is a crucial element to Nirvana's success imo).
Not a perfect rendition (but who would want one? - though I'm still looking for the solo done right), but impressive nonetheless, especially when Post is first and foremost a rapper, it's good to see some praise from rappers towards rock, as it's more common to see rock bands trying to tap into rap influences. I wish his vocal style had become more apparent as Post Malone does have a distinct singing style
