The moment Chris and Chester start singing the chorus together is the moment when this song becomes unbelievably heavy, much heavier than the original and it starts entering some dimension that I cannot fathom nor explain. Absolutely sacred.
It is sacred. On a level that anyone can feel. Before their deaths, this song was about life. The pain of it, the depression, how wounds and pain do not go away, time doesn't heal those. It just allows you to become used to it, and even then at times you can still be overwhelmed by the pain. After their deaths, this song is still about life and its pain. Yet now, with their manner of deaths, you can see what these things can do to you. For despite the differences we share, creed, skin color, nationality. We all share one single thing. One thing unites us. We all die. Death is inevitable, it can't be stopped. Even beyond that, the world around us shares in this cold knowledge. The trees will die, animals will die, the Earth itself will die. Then, you take another step. Stars, solar systems, galaxies, black holes. They will die as well. Nothing lasts, death comes for us all. No matter what you are. It is a depressing thought that can drive the will out of you. Or... In that realization, you can truly stand on equal ground with everyone and everything. A fate we cannot break free from. This fate makes us all one in the same. What better way to get this point across than music? Something you can't really see, yet it is something you can hear, and more importantly feel. Something everyone understands as well.
Coming from a recovering addict, the pain in Chris' voice is unimaginable. Addiction is not a choice, it's genetic, it's a product of mismanagement, it's how we lost all the good ones. Think of your homie you know and give em rub on the shoulder and a smile, you'll save a life. RIP Boys.
Coming from a recovered addict, you can change your genetics, and find the causes of your addictions. Often comes from lack of control of some sort. Look into works by people such as Dr Joe Dispenza, and Jose Silva. I have actually cured a lot of my addictions after finding out where they were coming from. A Lot of this stuff comes from childhood, and is programmed into the your unconscious before the age of 7. It is not impossible to change it once you find out where those thought patterns originate from. People will say, you're always in recovery but that's part of the problem. That you don't truly believe you're strong enough to get over it. That comes from self worth. You're underestimating yourself, and how much power your brain actually holds. Everyone can do this. I almost commited suicide in 2018. It's not you wanting to die, it's part of your ego needing to die for you to progress because you're not listening to your own inner voice. You just want to be rid of the pain as per say. Whereas I do have empathy for people going through this, this isn't the end of the road as per say, and people do not have to accept it as their fate if they so choose not to.
The love they had for one an another, to me, is what light in the darkness looks like. Now they share that same love forever, just in a different place.

Same here, I've seen that yesterday for the first time. It really has to be something special for inner - me, that brings me to cry just like that, out of nowhere. I mean, I came here from watching cute and crazy stray cats. :/
@@ZoeF.O both were cute and stray cats.... I remember back in 2005-2008, i was going thought a hard fight inside of me, and after listening to "Somewhere I belong" my soul was restored to a so high lvl, I started to follow LP songs, and for many years, I wanted to be like Chris, he was so handsome and had amazing voice, I wanted to be just like him when I grow up! When my ex broke up with me I locked myself inside my room for a whole year, just listening to his songs... Once I was recovered, i gave thanks for the good vibes rock sent to heal my wounds, these two bands were the most importants to me, when Chris died, i was devastated, thanksfuly, i was no longer alone to face this Lost, btw, I still find him a great man and Chester as a great singer of all times
@@brunogavilanosorio Oh, they will be definitely remembered. Chris was underrated legend with his perfect voice for a little longer, but both of them were really special people. I wasn't even sure what to think about their "suicide", and I'm not crazy lunatic and into theories that I have no evidence of.
you are not alone, at least we had the chance to live at the same time as them and listen to their music. It's a terrible that my favorite musicians always die early 🤧
This was my first concert at 18 years old with my brother. I remember vividly the experience of seeing these two sing together and we all lost our minds when Chris came back out. I didn't have a way to document it, no camera phone or digital camera, and couldn't afford a t-shirt, just pure memory and the most incredible show I could imagine. I'm so glad I found this video 🥲
I actually saw them live when I was 3 years old. yes, 3 years old (or 4 maybe). My family brought me because I liked to listen to their songs on my moms phone. But back then, being a literal infant, I just sit down and not sing along because I was too sleepy. I swore to myself that I would see them again when I'm older so I can actually watch them but now it's too late.
Random person responding. Funny we should meet here for this performance that draws me to it every so often. We'll be ok, there's light at the end of the tunnel. Head up, shoulders back, keep moving forward. Fight, fight, fight. You stay safe out there too.
It's eerie that when Chris walked onstage and sang "stand by my own reflection, it's haunting" right as he hugged Chester. They truly shared a bond like no other.
Both abused as kids, both fighting to shine the Light on the Darkness. They fought Demons they're entire lives. God Bless them and anyone else playing their part to fight the good fight.
Nah. You're crying. It's okay. Happens sometimes when two angels sing to you. Fuck. Obviously we didn't know them personally, but that doesn't mean them being gone is easy.

@@Sta11ion I agree Chris' circumstances are odd. Many don't know he'd become a huge SJW against Big Tech and had been threatened to expose pedophilia around Silicon Valley.
Chris and Chester both consumed by depression for most of their lives, but this double act must’ve alleviated that for a brief moment. You could tell how happy Chester looked with Chris on stage.

@@hollyspinella862 I love them both. Linkin Park and Audioslave is among my top 5 favorite rock bands. Top 1 and 2 respectively. So when Chris died, I'm saddened. And when I heard the news from my sister that Chester passed away, I Felt like everything around me lost its color for 5 minutes. Like everything was in grayscale. I'm deeply saddened. To help me out of my hole. Im sure u know the symbol of Linkin Park. Im getting that tattooed on me. Needin a opinion. Should I get the dates that Chester was born 3/20 n Chris is 7/20?? Or stick to the symbol??
@@hollyspinella862 like a stone and I'm the highway is my favorite Audioslave song. There's a reason why those two are the most popular Audioslave song. It's sentimental in a soothing way. And Chris's voice is crystal beautiful. I wish I could here someone again who can sing that way. Effortless, deep, husky. As for the tattoos, I suggest you stick to just the Logos instead. But if you want it to be very personal to those two vocalists, yes I suggest you put the birthdates but only the day. Not the end or year. Or how about the logo Mike shinoda made when Chester passed away? The linked arms? With the colorless one representing Chester's passing? That would be a beautiful tattoo.
This was almost fated to be performed, these two men dealing with depression come together in a beautiful symphony to sing Crawling which is arguably Linkin Park’s main song that speaks about depression. Chris and Chester come together to sing a song about depression then both take their lives due to it a years later. They’re both rock icons and will never be forgotten. RIP to them both. Be more kind to each other guys, life is short and stay strong.
These two heroes didn’t take their own lives. Of that I am 100% sure. These guys were so tuned into world. When you scratch the surface of these two guys’ lives you’ll find an underworld that they accidentally stumbled into unfortunately. The truth is out there and it makes watching this so much more emotional. May they Rest in Peace
@@Ariel_thenotsolittlemermaid You haven't a fucking clue on the matter so do not condescend people who have the courage to face it. The REALITY is they both were involved with a charity which rescued trafficked children, trafficked children who had ties with very high and or powerful members of society. Yes they ARE heros. They had the voice and power to expose it and were in the process of doing so....they were snuffed out as a result. That's how serious and evil the situation is...we lost two INCREDIBLE world renowned artists because they threatened to spill the beans. Take it from someone who was involved with a victim of trauma based behavior modification for 6 years. This shit is VERY real and profoundly dark.
@@twasbrillig33 I do have a clue. You know why? Because unlike you, I actually looked into it rather than just blindly believing what people on the internet told me. So I will continue to spread the truth- which is not condescending, just spreading facts. Chris was a donor to a movie called "the promise" which declared its purpose as 'protecting the world's most vulnerable children'. However, by that they were talking about refugees, not kids suffering from sexual abuse. Chris also did not make this movie, just donated to those who made it and made the theme song, and even that is more than Chester did- he had nothing to do with this movie. They were not working on anything else together- and how could they, when Chester himself said they only rarely met each other, as they lived in opposite sides of the country? The only 'evidence' people have for Chester being involved with something like that is that he was a victim of sexual abuse as a child- but first of all, that does not mean he was working on a movie to expose it; and secondly, he wasn't abused by a pedophile but hy an older boy, as he revealed himself. Furthermore, as musicians, they would have much better ways than making a documentary about it to reveal the truth. They could write songs about it; they could talk about it in interviews; they could utilize their fans on social media. Why make a movie, something that had nothing to do with either of them? And where is that movie, if it ever existed? Also, if Chester 'knew' Chris was murdered, why didn't he say anything over the course of 2 months and in the multiple times he talked about it? Why did he agree to be alone, with no one protecting him? And why is there not even one piece of evidence suggesting either man was murdered? Lastly, I'm not saying they were not heroes. They absolutely were. They just weren't murdered. You see? I'm not condescending. I just know the facts, and am not afraid to acknowledge the truth.
Celebrity deaths never affected me, until these two left us. Losing Cornell and Bennington caused a piece of me to cease existing. Years later and that hole is still there. It was a one-two punch in 2017 that I never fully recovered from. I’m thankful platforms like RUclips are here so we can continue to experience moments like these.
2017 was my worst year too and almost my death AND I HAD PICTURES WITH TONS OF GREATS living and dead cause I use to work for Peavey Electronics and was so fortunate to get to go backstage at anything I could when not working and man when we had our show out in Vegas and to TALK to them. And I lost ALL my pictures in the freak flood that hit Mississippi same as Harvey hitting Houston. My bother got hit and us too. Insurance never covers the stuff that matters etc BUT I HAVE MY MEMORIES STILL and that is what matters. But kids need to be thankful for iPhones etc yes social media is bad UNTIL something tragic. I lost my wedding pics etc. and our computers which both our home ones were servers and heavy and we didn’t have high enough cause my house took 4 feet so basically STILL wouldn’t have mattered. And all my great pics were actual film pictures or some on my servers and lost all that. Electronics don’t do well in a flood no matter what music video they show 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I won’t never forget how many guitars and amps and stuff we kept supplying 1 band (too many memories) BUT cause they kept destroying them by how awesome the concerts were, the music videos, or just setting stuff on fire because the current at some of these places!!! I have some stories just might tangle up who did what. BUT MAN I didn’t like Slipknot BUT met all of them and heck of some musicians

not real suicides...they were working on a documentary on child trafficking, I think they were taken out. Many people who were close to Cornell said he would not have committed suicide. Impossible to know for sure but I believe it's deeper than "they were sad so they killed themselves"
Saddest ??? I dont think so........ Smartest.......... awareness.......... knowing.......most people are dumb .......not numb.... One thing I can confidently say is you have no fucking idea how he felt .

Indeed, huge loss for the music.
Look how far away from his mouth Cornell's holding the microphone. Dude knows how powerful his voice is, and doesn't want to overwhelm his friend. Fucking magnificent how great and humble he was at the same time. Miss you, man.
It’s actually about how Chris’s voice is when the mic is low, the audio tech, keeping his job easier with the technology at the time, probably has his mic adjusted because he sings rather softly in his verse. Not to take away from his skills! They both can fucken shred

Back in the days they were all just having fun and shining up on the stage...... 😭😭😭
Man Chris's voice was incredible at his range. He maintains that balance of tone, emotion, guttural and throat throughout the notes/phrasing.
⁰h
4 octave range. He is my favorite voice of all time.
@@tracilynnvasen One of mine too, my favourite dark husky voice. Him and The White Buffalo
Aren't gutturals present in deathcore type of songs? I mean, I personaly can't hear it here.
There will never be another Chris Cornell...legend
These people had NO idea how lucky they were to experience this! 😭💔 So incredibly sad...
When Chris Cornell comes out, and he drops the line “I’ve felt this way before, SO INSECURE…”
It sounds so… I can’t think of the word, but so damn amazing. I personally think Chris had one of GREATEST voices ever, and seeing him and Chester next to each other… It’s really hurtful knowing these two aren’t with us anymore.
How could would that have been to see live?
now theyre together, sad but no more suffering on there end
i feel you mate.its so fucking sad that theese 2 great voices arent here with us. i listen to this song every now and then and i feal the exact same thing as you.i think the word you r missing is goosebumps. damned you fucking depression ...
It souds like lucifer entering the stage
Totally agree!
I need to download this video, must preserve this, its THE MOMENT
2:35
That's the most cool entrance I've ever seen.
He completely took over the stage with his presence, immediately.
Bin neidisch 😢
riiiight perfect
Nothing without Chris ,see now
He did. Totally wasn't expecting that. That was badass
Agree a 100%
i was hardly ever a Linkin Park fan, in fact i came here for Chris Cornell, but damn... these guys were the last of a dying breed. this vocal duo is just euphoric. nothing but tears and chills from my behalf. may both of these legends rest in peace 😥
Me too...
imagine not liking linkin park sad just sad there a fire band
\
@@jacobsmith2588 honestly LP was just a little too progressive for me at the time. it just felt like the kids that were into it were "the whole world is against me, and i'm gonna give up" cry babies. i probably shouldn't have allowed my perception of some of the fans to dictate the music entirely at that time, but i was young and ignorant.
@@saint_of_saints bud you don't need to like linkin park, for many a year i didn't but i appreciate them more than anything, because they gave a generation a quality of music that had, thought, feeling, experience and passion, sadly lacking in todays music.
@@mikethomas6051 yeah it's crazy because it wasn't UNTIL the start of today's music that i had to go back in time to appreciate LP. as well as several other bands i slept on back then. i was such an early 90s head that when alot of the newer guys popped up (LP, Evanescence, etc) i just didn't give it a chance.
Mike Shinoda did his thing too was anyone listening to the words of his intro.🔥🔥🔥
i did
He can rap a little bit more than people think
I didn’t know he had bars like that until I saw this performance... crazy underrated
@Jesus Hong I think you should reread my comment..then go learn what english words mean..then form a different viewpoint. I don't know what the fuck you're even talking about
It's a song called hands held high.. by Linkin park. Listen to it
I’m so stoked at how excited Chester was to have Chris there. 2024, baby I listen weekly
They both knew exactly what they were singing about...
AMEN!!!! I miss them!
Unfortunately we never did.
Struggles of rich rock stars :D
Adrian Martinez did you never listen to the words? It was pretty clear
@@SatanicKale He means the end result :(
Went to this concert when I was 16 years old, to this day the best concert I've ever been to. I was just telling my friend that I seen Chester and Chris sing together live and he didn't believe me, thanks for sharing!
Coolness.
You are so lucky.
I saw sound garden and linkin park separately and those two are the best concerts i have ever seen. So much energy and passion on the stage. RIP Chester and Chris
@@chrismack3328 Very cool. I'm guessing this was late nineties or early 2000s?? You witnessed something really incredible. That's pretty amazing you saw both!! Best concert I ever attended was Lollapalooza in KC in '98, 311, Korn, Tool ( they were badass). Snoop Dogg, Busta Ryhymes,Ziggy Marley etc and it ended with Prodigy doing Firestarter. 🔥 Great memories n I hold onto mine since I'm 41 now I may break a hip in the pit. XO, ty for sharing.
You are one lucky soul... I wouldve ... I just cant explain how much I wouldve loved to have gone to this to see them
Give Mike a Like for his epic Intro👌
Underrated MC
Hands Held High.
It's actually a song from their album Minutes to Midnight, Hands Held High
This man was the best singer ever god Chester we miss you
Look everybody why exploit being famous for giving up on life selfish move on both of move . I'll be there soon
I’m 55 and this song brought me to tears thinking about how Chester and Chris aren’t here anymore😢 it’s a crying shame they left this earth to soon. Chris Cornell’s voice just moves me and performing this song with Chester is a masterpiece and never disappoints!! RIP🙏🖤
Ferocious few
“I stand beside my own reflection” crazy
Yeah that got me too!!
Truly haunting seeing it years later, knowing that Chester died (obviously planned of course) on Chris's birthday of the same year that Chris died.
@@Black_CaucusBeide wurden ermordet. Beide haben sich an einer Türschnalle erhängt. 😢😢😢
Epic, not everyday you see Chris Cornell take the low harmony... what a voice Chester...RIP...
@@tylerdurden9597 Lil pump will always be the greatest. Change my mind
It's like they were both singing out the pain they ere suffering to each other...trying to comfort each other...rest in peace.
Realmente, meu amigo.
Legends for Ever.. 2 of the biggest vocal Giants of 90-2000 Era what a duo for the rock 🤘 world
seeing this awesome performance and wondering.. it's no coincidence Chris showed up just to this song, crawling is a deep meaningful one
I completely understand it. I think they are amazing together and I hope they are having a good life in heaven!
Chedter.is john podestas son...they look identical
Man, watching this is so epic!! I can't imagine what the people who went there experienced that day... R.I.P. Legends.
my biggest musical regret is never seeing my absolute favorite band live. I still listen to LP, all these years later. I've been a fan since day one! Missing you guys and your sound. We miss you Chester, forever RIP!
I saw LP on the Minutes to Midnight tour. Worst album of theirs and Jesus. So amazing live. It made me re listen to it and it's in heavy rotation still.
RIP to these legends
Saw LP live 2006. Chester was so damn cute! He hopped all over the stage. I lost my boyfriend before him and Cornell to suicide December 5th, 2016. He was 42. We never know what anyone is going through!
You're not alone I'm too scared to go to concerts
I won tickets years ago to summer sanitarium. By luck I got to see LP, Mudvayne, Deftones, and Metallica. I haven't seen my friend in years but he still thanks me for taking him on the ride...
@@ernestjamesmusic995 I love Chad Gray! Love Deftones LP and Cornell. Chads voice is so intense with Mudvayne! Your so lucky you saw them. I want to see Corey Taylor. Love him. Saw Aaron Lewis live at house of blues a drunk chick would not stop screaming. Lewis stopped the music and told security get her the fk out of here.
