I live in Prescott AZ, born and raised and Chester’s parents live up here too. I used to work at our local Best Buy and his parents would come in and buy all his CD’s (Leaving a few copies for others of course) to support his son. They gave out his albums to people for free. They made it clear they buy his albums in secret because Chester only wanted to give back to his parents, but they wanted to support him no matter what. 😢

This song actually shows what a lot of other artists don't have. That emotion in his voice comes across so strong. There are so many artists that may have a great voice, but when singing an emotional song they can't carry the emotion to the listener. Chester was able to do that like no one else I've ever heard. Was just going through some Linkin Park songs and I'm not ashamed to say this one actually brought a tear to my eye.

Because too many pop singers rely on autotune and lip syncing is common too. Metal and Rock music is usually more emotional and the musicians usually make the music they want to make and so there's more emotion in it always.

My unpopular opinion: this performance is why I don't mind and even embrace the One More Light Album with joy. I love Chester's voice no matter what he sings, energetic or slow songs, I just love his voice when he sings. Deep down I have always wanted to hear him sing something more slow and soft, I just believe that it's still beautiful. One More Light is not Nu Metal, it's not Rock, it's not Rap, not Grunge, but it's still beautiful to me.

There's a million covers of this song. Most are way overproduced, while others are mediocre. This cover was so simple yet so beautiful and full of power and only has been decided to be done backstage minutes before LP hit the stage. If you'd watch the whole thing, Mike and Chester started this song off because Chester didn't know which key to sing in, but after another try, this was the result. Miss Chester so much already! Not sure what was Toms exact meaning of 'we', but I figure its the people around him, past and present, can be extended to the general public. He probably never received the same love, respect (thoughts, treatment and judgement) and understanding of life that he gave and had for people. Its comments like yours that drives people with depression away from reaching out to anyone for help.. they already would feel misunderstood, probably what they have been feeling for a long time, from close ones or near ones that are small minded mainstream thinking people like you. Be mindful of your words when it comes to depression. Cheers.

There aren't very many artists that you can almost feel their voice moving through your body but Chester is one of them. It's hard to explain but if you can feel it you know what I'm talking about. Your blood flows a different way, your mind opens up and your body vibrates with every note. Their voice intangles your mind, body and soul in a way that you feel directly connected with the person you're listening to. It's a phenomenon that only a handful of artists throughout history could achieve and chester is one of them. He brought so many of us into the light by pushing himself further into darkness. Truly one of the greatest.

It's so sad, he seemed to have it all. Knowing his struggle, nothing could surpass his deep seeded pain. He was telling us plainly but nothing prevented him from rolling head first into the deep Deep. So grateful for his contribution and impact but mourn him like a phantom limb. He had so much more to "bleed out". So many could haves. He had my heart inside of his hand and then it broke. He still leaves me breathless, feeling incomplete. I know as much as I wish, there won't be a different ending. He was just warming up 😢🎶😇 So glad to see Mike and the other guys continue but there will forever be a gap. A sad remembrance of what was.

I was getting ready point out some other band or artist that does this but... you know what? Gunjan is right.
I don't think we'll ever get a Nu-Metal plus all of those genre coming ever again. In the mainstream, Twenty one pilots is that too but instead of Nu-Metal or any metal at all, it's "post-emo or emo influenced" plus all those others, but perhaps more pop as the main genre with their 2015 album. Perhaps there are obscure bands out there are trying it but we may never have a phenomenon like Linkin Park in this specific fusion ever again. If anyone got any more huge range of fusion, even indie or stuff I'm sure there's a lot under the surface there, please share it. I love me indie garage/psych/blues rock or synthpop/electronica, but I'll always come back to LP for that specific diverse sound.
I was never a huge fan of Nu-Metal, I enjoyed some of the top tracks of others, but LP hit that sweet spot in combing genres. And later in other albums, they pushed their diverse sound even more which I loved the most with this band.

    LYRICS
There's a fire starting in my heart
Reaching a fever pitch, it's bringing me out the dark
Finally I can see you crystal clear
Go ahead and sell me out and I'll lay your ship bare
See how I'll leave with every piece of you
Don't underestimate the things that I will do
There's a fire starting in my heart
Reaching a fever pitch and it's bringing me out the dark
The scars of your love remind me of us
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all
The scars of your love they leave me breathless
    I can't help feeling
We could've had it all (you're gonna wish you)
    (Never had met me)
Rolling in the deep (tears are gonna fall)
    (Rolling in the deep)
You had my heart inside (you're gonna wish you)
Of your hands (never had met me)
And you played it (tears are gonna fall)
To the beat (rolling in the deep)
Baby, I have no story to be told
But I've heard one on you, now I'm gonna make your head burn
Think of me in the depths of your despair
Make a home down there, as mine sure won't be shared
The scars of your love (never had met me)
Remind me of us (tears are gonna fall)
They keep me thinking (rolling in the deep)
That we almost had it all (you're gonna wish you)
The scars of your love (never had met me)
They leave me breathless (tears are gonna fall)
I can't help feeling (rolling in the deep)

You had my heart inside (you're gonna wish you)
Of your hands (never had met me)
And you played it (tears are gonna fall)
To the beat (rolling in the deep)
    We could've had it all
    Rolling in the deep
You had my heart inside of your hand
But you played it with a beating
Throw your soul through every open door (whoa)
Count your blessings to find what you look for (whoa)
Turn my sorrow into treasured gold (whoa)
You pay me back in kind and reap just what you've sown
We could've had it all (tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
We could've had it all (you're gonna wish you never had met me)
It all, it all, it all (tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
We could've had it all (you're gonna wish you)
    (Never had met me)

DrMedSteht all the money and therapy in the world cannot solve some people's problems. Depression is real. Add addiction and it's a toxic mix. Nobody knows what he was going through but him. His wife and children are very much victims. Just because you've got the mental stability to live day to day, doesn't mean everyone else does.

    • @karibikfan91
      @karibikfan91 7 лет назад +16

Never felt what a depression feels like? This is very ambivalent. There is no right or wrong. Some souls are injured in a way they can never heal. It depends on what happened in his past and childhood. You can't heal a broken soul like a broken leg. And nobody knows what he felt and how he looked inside. Of cours it's a massive lost for his family, but I'm sure they know, what emotional pain he suffered every day. Life isn't that simple. Be a little bit more gentle with somebody, who have a mental illness.

Will never forget Hybrid theory but which ever album they bring out theres always one or two songs that still give me the chills, its hard for a band to be diverse without selling out and losing fans, but i think linkin park has done a damn good job.

Going on 7 years and I still have a hard time believing he’s gone. I come back to this video often. Each time it fills me with a sense of longing to have back what I simply can’t have, so I come away feeling like I’ve tossed a penny in a wishing well.

Right before doing this song in the full video he said that he hoped that they'd do it justice. Dude, what a humble man and on top of that he did better enjoying himself and messing around than with all due respect to her, a team of people making her song as good as it can be.

There's a fire starting in my heart
Reaching a fever pitch, and it's bringing me out the dark
Finally, I can see you crystal clear
Go ahead and sell me out, and I'll lay your ship bare
See how I'll leave with every piece of you
Don't underestimate the things that I will do
There's a fire starting in my heart
Reaching a fever pitch, and it's bringing me out the dark
The scars of your love remind me of us
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all
The scars of your love, they leave me breathless
    I can't help feeling
We could have had it all
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
    Rolling in the deep
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
You had my heart inside of your hand
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
And you played it to the beat
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
Baby, I have no story to be told
But I've heard one on you
Now I'm gonna make your head burn
Think of me in the depths of your despair
    Make a home down there
As mine sure won't be shared
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
The scars of your love remind me of us
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
The scars of your love, they leave me breathless
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
    I can't help feeling
We could have had it all
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
    Rolling in the deep
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
You had my heart inside of your hand
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
And you played it to the beat
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
    Could have had it all
    Rolling in the deep
You had my heart inside of your hand
But you played it with a beating
Throw your soul through every open door
Count your blessings to find what you look for
Turn my sorrow into treasured gold
You'll pay me back in kind and reap just what you sow
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
We could have had it all
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
We could have had it all
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
It all, it all, it all
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
We could have had it all
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
    Rolling in the deep
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
You had my heart inside of your hand
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
And you played it to the beat
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
We could have had it all
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
    Rolling in the deep
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
You had my heart inside of your hand
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
    But you played it
    You played it [x2]
You played it to the beat

What can you say about this man- absolutely legendary talent. Such powerful, diverse vocals- so surreal to believe that you can't believe it's even possible, but it was. From singing like an angel with soft, gentle vocals in this epic cover, ranging to his incredible screams, he always sounded excellent. It's still so hard to believe he's gone- he and LP helped me get through tough times.
Rest well Chester Bennington, hope you've found peace brother.
