Note the way how Chris points to himself when he says "These wounds, they will not heal." as though he knew that depression isn't something that just goes away with time. The world seems darker without these two great musicians.
At the end, Chester says about Chris Cornell, “He’s got the most beautiful voice.” No truer words ever spoken. To have lost those 2 artists in such a short span of time left a void in many a man’s soul, including mine. I come back to these videos to reacquaint myself with the spirit that poured out of these men. Their legacy lives on forever. Peace
They both struggled with similar demons. I'm sure it gave each of them strength when they saw each other pushing through each day and trying to stay positive. I'm sure it impacted Chester tremendously when Chris gave into his overwhelming depression. I hope all people start taking depression and mental illness more seriously and talk openly about it. I'm not sure that Chris Cornell was on the kinds of meds that would help him effectively and therapy. They were both amazing people and artists and will always be greatly missed.
The way the timbres of their voices blend together on the harmonies is (chef’s kiss). Chester’s naturally high, nasally (in a good way) voice and Chris’s full-chested baritone compliment each other so well. And the way Chris casually strolls across the stage singing the 2nd verse making it look so easy. What a legend.
Wow. Chester's a great vocalist. But Chris Cornell walks on stage and takes Chester's highest high note and looks like he's strolling in the park. Then he does harmonies on the chorus that the band probably never could have conceived. And all the while he looks like a Jedi master. The world will miss you, Chris.

@@willnicholson18 Stop making light of mental health. The singers in the video literally committed suicide, do you have that little common sense that you think mocking people's appearance is a good idea when you don't know what goes on in their lives?
This is why live music is soo amazing, you can tell Chester and the band had no idea Chris was coming out, Chester was singing the next part of the song and the sound engineer shut his mic off as Chris came out singing, such a cool moment! Love these guys and their music!
So funny I never noticed that! I had to watch it over again and see, you are exactly right. Wish I could have seen these guys playing together, though I do feel blessed to have gotten to see both a couple of times..
Duuude I’ve thought the same afta a couple watches but thanks so much for the assurance! This is truly golden, don’t get any better than these two right here 🖤❤️🔥
If you watch, it looks like I think Mike walks over as of to make sure Chris is coming out because he randomly walked over there to that area where Chris was.
"He's got the fuckin' most beautiful voice in rock and roll, man" Something I've always loved about Linkin Park, specially Chester, is their humbleness. What a wonderful and solemn thing to say.
MeytalHead Exactly. Which is why it hurt so bad. Dude always made it feel like like everything was gonna be OK. Like he always had it under control. Even though it wasn't. Even though he didn't. It's as brutal to lose him because of that
Every now and again, I have to come and watch this. These two brilliant musicians now gone. Breaks my heart, and I never want to forget the pain of losing them, ever.
....Except that this was posted in 2008, almost 9 years before their deaths. Also, we all die... and I'm sure there was no death pact in place for almost a decade between the two of them. I mourn their loss just the same, but you're reading into that interaction a bit too much. He was clearly surprised by him and obviously had a sincere excitement to see a dear friend and fellow artist, least of all singing his part.
I meant that Chris doesn't seem aware of how directly his words relate to his own situation and appreciating that energy around my two favorite vocalists ever is too much to put into words. I saw this performance live at my first concert, before I knew who Chris Cornell even was. We arrived late and missed him headlining the show, a regret since I never saw him again.
Jim Campbell Chris Cornell performed earlier that night. Everyone definitely went crazy and I remember thinking, damn Chris Cornell hung out backstage this entire time while LP did their thing just to perform Crawling with them. I think LP performed just 1 or 2 songs after. I had no idea how close Chester and Chris were at the time. I’ve seen Linkin Park in concert 5 times. Good memories.
Ryugo7 7 I can’t imagine the ecstatic energy in the room once they both started performing together. Truly a big moment in the history of Rock and roll, and you were there to see it :)
It's not depression. It's the deep state. They were exposing powerful criminals and their horrible acts against children. They were making a documentary together about it. They had plans.
@Ned Kelly suicided. They didn't commit suicide. They were about to expose child sex trafficking. The powers that SHOULDN'T be are child molesters, pedophiles. Sick disgusting monsters are what they are.
Well here it is November 15, 2023, and here I am again listening to Chester & Chris. The world was robbed, when we lost these two very talented, very kind & caring men. I miss them as much today as I did in 2017. RIP Chester & Chris, your voices were amazing, your songs spoke to my depression❤️🥰💔🕊️🕊️
Gabriel M. The ONLY argument Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington could have ever had was claiming the other one had the best voice in rock and roll.. And they'd never be wrong.
It's this good mainly because it was not filmed on a cellphone. DV tape video cameras with optical zoom was still common in 2008 before the iPhone hit the mainstream.
@@JesusChrist69420 I like your name why choose the name that when everybody dies weather they believe or not will bow and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord
Their voices and art, innovation to our minds hearts and spirits, they are gone sadly. But only in body. And their words, music and soulful observation of a piece of each of us will be forever. My heart goes out to The families of both amazing artists in a category few gain and that is Profetic and Immortal. Thank you both for the gifts and parts of you we got to see because it was more awe inspiring than existence and the universe. I feel and send love to all who miss both GREAT muscians, artists and innovators. Who were ahead of their time and gone way too soon. Chester and Chris rest in piece. Two more gone from the new renaissance.
True, they will never be forgotten. I had a really hard time when Chris died, one of my closest friends passed away in February and his birthday was July 19, and then on top of all of this sadness, my Dad who I adored passed away Monday July 17th, I cant stop crying.. I listened to chris all day today.. I love his voice, its brings me comfort during this very very sad time in my life..
This is some intense shit. They harmonize perfectly well together. CHESTER my heart is with you man. My heart aches so bad when I hear you talk about that dark neighbourhood between your ears...
I'm not an ultra religious person but when you mentioned heaven I had to look that up and pasted this here." According to the theology of the Catholic Church, death by suicide is considered a grave matter, one of the elements required for mortal sin. ... Suicide is contrary to love for the living God. 2325 Suicide is seriously contrary to justice, hope, and charity. It is forbidden by the fifth commandment"
I must have watched this a thousand times now. Chris singing that last harmony with Chester is beautiful, and the way they hug at the end. I love everything about that.
When Chris comes out and surprises Chester....Chester is walking over to greet him....Chester’s back to the camera....yet you can still see the ear to ear smile on his face. True friendship. Gives me chills.
I saw Chris live 3 times with Soundgarden (for the reunion tour) and 2 times solo and also Chester live with LP maybe 2 or 3 month before his death, just one fucking year away from Cornell's one :-(. 2 of my favourite singers and Artists. 2 great voices that went away but are still there with us everyday. Keep safe and rocking friend and if you have time come check the new song I posted with R&O, would love your views on it : ruclips.net/video/kXsua5jVNtQ/видео.html
Cari Rebo Let's let God make that decision. I know that suicide can also stir up anger with family, friends, and fans but it doesn't do us any good unless we can learn from it. I have lost enough people in my life in different ways that hopefully by sharing what I have learned, it will assist someone to talk and to get help. There are experiences that people aren't able to deal with individually so it should be no shame in asking for help. A doctor isn't going to make your head smaller but they may encourage you to express your feelings about the situations in your life. Too often we deny our emotions and that isn't healthy because the emotions pile up until we can't hold them in any longer. That's when the bad things happen where we hurt others, ourselves, animals, or property and that isn't cool... unless it's your own property that isn't alive. Even then it can be messed up. I have seen the ignorant and thoughtless memes making fun of these two tortured souls and it's the same type of people who caused the pain to these guys in the first place . That's not okay and it needs to disappear.
You're right, it's really hard. Suicide is a horrible thing and it's certainly not ''what they do''. I can't believe they both hanged themselves. Horrible stuff for them, their loved ones, the music industry and the entire world. RIP
they both had depression, it's nothing horible for them. im a filmmaker(so an artist as well) and i have depression since i was 15. i understand them perfectly
All I can see is the real friendship they have. I love how Chester smiles while seeing Chris. I guess living in this world without your favorite person is really hard. I just feel that Chris is one of the best reasons why Chester is still living despite his misery, but when that person dies, it's like there's no point to continue life at all. It's sad that their demons consumed them. Such great artists who left us great music. I wish that people who are experiencing agony will find peace and heal themselves thru Chester's creations. Life is beautiful. Music is beautiful. And learning how artists create these masterpieces would really hit us hard and understand them deeper. I can't put into words how sad I am about Chester's passing. Most people around me wouldnt understand me. Theyd say that they are just a band. But, they saved me. They accompanied me. They healed me. They spoke the words I can't even think of. It feels like a really close friend had died. We will miss you..
nicely put! I feel the same, no one understands how you could be sad about someone you didnt personally know. But Linkin Park were part of me growing up as a teenager and I just feel so fucking sad that Chester is gone. He seemed to have such a pure soul and crazy musical and lyrical talent.. It's just heartbreaking..
Yellow Pikachu Tbh I can relate to Chester n my best friend shot him self in front of me n it took all I had & den some to not wanna do the same but if it wasn't for linkin park I would have followed suit to my best friend
Breaks my heart to see 2 of the most beautiful rock icons singing so amazingly together, when we all know they are both gone. At least videos like this will live on, so we will never forget their just how groundbreaking and brilliant they both were 😭😭😇😇🤩🤩❤️❤️🛍❤️🔥💯💯
Two men born to SING and unforgettably to die too young, determined to strive through life's sorrow, with two DISTINCT rock voices that cannot be duplicated. GOD BLESS THEIR SOULS AND TRUE ROCK AND ROLL
only one of them is singing, the other kook is lip syncing, or whatever you call it. he doesn't even sing along all the way to himself so chris finishes it for him so he doesn't look completely stupid
I'm sorry but I'm a black man who found this music later in my life (38). This music is so beautiful and painful but the pain is transcending to beauty. May GOD embrace these 2 men. Sometimes we take our own lives and it's not meant for the world to understand. GOD IS IN EVERYONE. REST IN PEACE and know you shaped a generation and the FUTURE
Me too! Except I'm the whitest girl in the town...lol. Only recently have I understood them & been able to relate (after my own attempts). I love your comment, Jason! God bless you & I love your comment.
Jason Logan Amen brother same here. 2 legends right here. Never will be the same without them. At least we have their music to remind us. And by the way, doesn't . Matter what color your skin to listen to whatever your in to. I'm a white girl and I still listen to my Tupac 4ever
It's truly saddening. I've loved their music since I was about 13. It helped me through some difficult hard times. Now, I feel similar, I am in a very dark place... It's gotten to where I've attempted suicide, I'm still fighting this shit though. I want to give in... Give up. I'm doing my best though. Seeing such compassion does help some. I'm an Empath, and really feel their emotion here.
When Chris said "Against my will I stand beside my own reflection" I felt how serious those words were especially because he was looking into Chester's eyes at the exact time
This is for Chester/Chris....for me its just an Awesome repect for two artist that are dead today...Im fucking dame sure Shinodas didnt want a thumbs fucking up for a SOLO....Prick!
The way Chris does the jump... 'I've felt this way before, so INSECUUUUURE'. I mean, he's just walking, it's like he doesn't even realize he's going to jump five notes in less a second.
I've watched this video 1000 times but never realized that. Now I did and i was looking for a comment like yours. It's true, even Brad smiled like "we brought a friend of yours to sing as a surprise". Really amazing moment in music history.
I found this video years ago and it became one of my favorites. Only until after Cornell's untimely death did I come back to it and listen to it dozens of times to hear his ungodly voice. Now I find myself revisiting again today after news of Chester's sad passing. Two major forces of Rock and two of the best rock voices and frontmen in history gone. RIP
I can't believe it. When I read he died on Chris' birthday and also after reading his Twitter post when Chris' died, it's so clear it's related. I hope they are there in Heaven singing together now. Both buddies and masters within each genre. Rest in peace guys.

So funny I never noticed that! I had to watch it over again and see, you are exactly right. Wish I could have seen these guys playing together, though I do feel blessed to have gotten to see both a couple of times..
Duuude I’ve thought the same afta a couple watches but thanks so much for the assurance! This is truly golden, don’t get any better than these two right here 🖤❤️🔥
I have a feeling the other guys in the band knew. Look at how Brad's smirking and looking at Chester... he didn't seem surprised.
If you watch, it looks like I think Mike walks over as of to make sure Chris is coming out because he randomly walked over there to that area where Chris was.
They all knew, it was part of the show and they even rehearsed for it.
"He's got the fuckin' most beautiful voice in rock and roll, man"
Something I've always loved about Linkin Park, specially Chester, is their humbleness. What a wonderful and solemn thing to say.
+SnowAndReef I know. But to be real, they both have beautiful voices.
Good minds think alike; humble attracts humble.
chester speaks the truth =) I have mad respect for the real musicians
This is sick!!! Those people witnessed something special that night
Justin Raymundo , Projekt Revolution @ Alpine Valley. I was there, still can't believe they're gone.
Justin Raymundo some other worldly shit
But never knew what hit them. :'(
Justin Quarters I was at Projekt Revolution. Didn't see Chris. This is an amazing video.
Justin Raymundo yes. That was like music history. So fucking awesome. ☮️
There's something about Chris Cornell's voice that sounded so reassuring and comforting. Love and miss both of these men
MeytalHead Exactly.
At 3:12 when Cornell sang "Against my will I stand beside my own reflection," while shaking hands with Chester.
It's haunting. What a moment!
It's almost like they are shaking hands with Death himself. Like they both knew that the end is coming. You are right. What a moment indeed!
I'm honestly speechless..
Speechless.
....Except that this was posted in 2008, almost 9 years before their deaths.
Holy shit I didn’t know someone actually recorded this. I WAS THERE!!!
You sir are one luck bastard to have seen both of these legends in one place
Did everyone lose their minds when they realized in was Cornell?
Jim Campbell Chris Cornell performed earlier that night. Everyone definitely went crazy and I remember thinking, damn Chris Cornell hung out backstage this entire time while LP did their thing just to perform Crawling with them. I think LP performed just 1 or 2 songs after. I had no idea how close Chester and Chris were at the time. I’ve seen Linkin Park in concert 5 times. Good memories.
Lucky you man!
Ryugo7 7 I can’t imagine the ecstatic energy in the room once they both started performing together. Truly a big moment in the history of Rock and roll, and you were there to see it :)
When he said "my own reflection" and shook hands with Chester... oh man /:
AHHHH! That gave me chills!!
Red Forman It's just a game ;)
duuude, didnt notice that at first, man....
Red Forman F U C K
Just heartbreaking 💔
They literally look like angels. There's a glow around them. I can't unsee it.
Mike Shinoda gave me chills, Chester vocals had me melting and I just exploded when Chris Cornell came in. Linkin Park, you have my heart.
For real this is legendary still in 2022
No disrespect, but Mike Shenoda is a POS! He was so jealous of Chester!
@@slimlynn6085 100%. I'm convinced he helped kill Chester. 😢
?
Mike Shinoda is Crap!!
Ironic how Chris said "Against my own will, I stand by my own reflection" as he stands next to Chester.
thats the thing i think about every night
Ned Kelly The death of Chris sent him spiraling downward, depression is a horrible thing.
It's not depression. It's the deep state. They were exposing powerful criminals and their horrible acts against children. They were making a documentary together about it. They had plans.
"Confusing what is real"
@@angryguy67 whst was is going to be called
Against my will I stand beside my own reflection... and they greeted each other.
Sad premonition
Damn.
It's because they were getting ready to expose the full story of what we only know from Epstein..
@Ned Kelly suicided. They didn't commit suicide. They were about to expose child sex trafficking. The powers that SHOULDN'T be are child molesters, pedophiles. Sick disgusting monsters are what they are.
How disgusting that people that using the sad history of that friends to spread a senseless conspiracy storie with political proposes and ends.

Wow man...you just put something in my mind that I'll never forget. Nice and sad. I miss them both so much...
It's 2/20/24 and I'm still listening 🎧 RIP Chester and Chris 🤘
So sad now both are dead . R.I.P 😭😭
Yeah, I found the saddest video on the internet.
Dude I know right. what the fuck
without a doubt........ :(
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Gabriel M. The ONLY argument Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington could have ever had was claiming the other one had the best voice in rock and roll..
And they'd never be wrong.
Do I upvote or downvote that? Agree sooo much. What a bummer.
Can we take a second to appreciate how good the audio is in this video from a damn cellphone from like a decade ago.
Eddie Cardwell I said the same! at first I thought it was a LP video but then you noticed its a fan video. amazing!
This was edited with soundboard audio.
Agreed.
It's this good mainly because it was not filmed on a cellphone. DV tape video cameras with optical zoom was still common in 2008 before the iPhone hit the mainstream.
I was at a show on this tour in 2008 and 15 years later hearing the two of them sing together STILL gives me chills
Why do I always find the best artist too late? RIP Chris Cornell ,
rip chester bennington
I'm heart broken right now watching this.
Just finding out . No words
2019' Still hurts. Still haunting to watch... They'll both never be forgotten!! No one sings like them anymore 👑👑

Tina Marie F they may be silenced but never forgotten! True legends 😓♥️
Goosebumps!! Always a good one! ❤
The happiness in Chester's face when he sees Chris fills my heart up in an unexplainable way ❤

This is some intense shit. They harmonize perfectly well together. CHESTER my heart is with you man. My heart aches so bad when I hear you talk about that dark neighbourhood between your ears...
R.I.P Chester and Chris. They are now together rocking out in heaven

You two left a mark on life....I love you for that.....❤
I must have watched this a thousand times now. Chris singing that last harmony with Chester is beautiful, and the way they hug at the end. I love everything about that.
Lewis Barrah I have watched so many times! I love this whole video!
it's like getting a knife in the heart. Hits right in the feels.
knowing their story, every detail is beautiful here :)
Me too. It's ethereal and haunting.
My heart is broken, twice...
Maybe it was just a surprise for the crowd.. Chester would have carried on singing
Chester really thinks the world of Chris. Demons yes but the damn drugs are king! Sad.
You can also hear Cornell's smile when he singing and walking over to him, beautiful stuff
They didn't kill themselves. Good mates who knew shit .
Absolutely beautiful.
They make music in heaven now :)
silent suicide doesn't take you to heaven
Cari Rebo well, good people certainly dont go to hell.
That's not okay and it needs to disappear.
you are right...
with one hell of a backup band
FUCK THIS IS EVEN HARDER TO WATCH NOW..... rip to Chris and Chester....

What incredible voices and harmonies. just found this video and am so moved. The world has lost two of the best voices. RIP.
4:27 That scream is pure gold.....
it was angelic...
When Chris repeats the sub-chorus "there's something isnside me.." and Chester sings over it, THE CHILLS encapsulated
Yellow Pikachu , you said that so beautifully. I feel that way about Chris Cornell. And seeing the two so close... it just makes my heart shatter.
Amen Yellow Pikachu, sitting here crying rn.

I'm sorry but I'm a black man who found this music later in my life (38). This music is so beautiful and painful but the pain is transcending to beauty. May GOD embrace these 2 men. It's truly saddening. I've loved their music since I was about 13.
It helped me through some difficult hard times.
