Took me awhile to figure mine out too. But once I stopped caring for it and just threw it outside to fend for itself, it started to grow again! The sun is a savior!
Very informative video! Looks like the Encyclia I just got from the San Francisco Show. Modesto Tropical Plant Society is having an orchid show April 11 & 12. They don't usually have any orchids worth the drive here but there is a member that sells very awesome carnivorous plants. I can give u details or look up Modesto Tropical Plant Society.
I've never been to the Sac one but I hope they have some good plants. It's not fun to see a ton of awesome plants on display but not be able to buy them.
My climate isn't ideal either but mine do great outdoors even when the weather is cold at night and hot in the day. Plus some days the humidity is 16% :( :( these guys are pretty hardy! :)
I get aphids and mealybugs which are pretty difficult to eradicate. I usually treat my orchids with an alcohol & soap solution, but they come back after a few months. Occasionally I use pesticides (ugh) on all of my orchids and they are protected for months after that, but I hate using pesticides.
yea the only pesticide I like using is by Bayer products its Rose and flower care and systemic products. did you receive your plant yet ? I hope it survived
Growing Things I use that too. Some plants still get mealybugs. Seriously those guys are tough. And not yet on receiving the plant. I assume it's taking awhile because I'm super duper far from you. I will let you know as soon as I receive it :]
You spray them with a hose!? You really should have better ways and water to water them with, being that it's most likely full of minerals, and if sprayed can cause rott in the crown
Fantastic information! Very thorough!
The way you described your temperature variations it looks a lot like mine in Zone 9 in the US. Im definitely subcribing. 😁
What a beautiful orchid. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! :)
i'm still figuring this genus out. One haven't rebloomed and the other one is just sitting there doing nothing.
Thank you so much for an informative video
Mine are SOOO ready to go outside for the season. Still too cold here for a bit... *sigh* Thanks for sharing!
Mine do way better outside. Hope the weather warms up for you soon!
i have never gotten my encyclia cocheleata to flower. This is the first year it is in sheath so fingers crossed
Thanks for sharing. I have one encyclia.... still trying to figure her out.

Thank you! So funny because Sac is having an orchid show too! I believe it's the same weekend.
I am sure that the sac show will be way better. Got a newsletter saying that they only bought Phals. I am hoping to get a butterwort.

Orchid Dreaming Isn't that the truth!
Very informative! Not sure I have the climate for them... Too bad! Thanks for sharing:)

Very pretty, I don't own one of them...😱
Thanks girl! You should try them! They're so unique, especially the encyclia sceptra.
You have any that you can show that have or had flowers so I know what it looks like
