Great info. I just acquired an encyclia alata x fowlle and another cross where 1 parent was e. cyperifolia and e. cordigera and the other was b. nodosa. I'm not in a warm climate and I'm trying to keep them warm and hydrated. I do see new growth on both.
Excellent!! I went searching for which orchid media would work with my new Serena O’Neill & have already reported her in leca, thanks to this video. Love your stuff!!
Hey, i have an Encyclia tampensis. The flower looks a lot like your cross. It was a hurricane rescue (limb it was growing fell down in a tropical storm) a few years ago, and grows as a native here in central Florida. Thanks for the growing tips. Mine smells of honey when it blooms.
I've recently recieved this orchid and have learned the have blooming season. So with that said you should get blooms again. UF and Fau have some articles on them that are worth checking out.
I love your videos. I just purchased a Encylia bractescens x Nursery Rhyme with a flower spike starting on it. I'm hoping I have good luck with it. It's the first orchid of this family that I've tried growing, so wish me luck.
Dani, You might like the Encyclia phoenicea. It smells like chocolate as well. Thanks for the video on Encyclias. I have a few and was looking for further information from a grower. Mine are in net baskets in small fir bark mixed with perlite and charcoal. I have a light blanket of sphagnum on the top of each. That seems to have helped maintain their moisture levels. They are doing well outdoors in our palm trees here in south Florida. Thanks for sharing with us.
Thanks Danny! i have been wanting you to do a more in detail vid of the encyclica family but i have so many asks for your channel that i just didn't !! i love their pseudobulbs too, so cute, spherical and plump! haha xxL.
that little thing is just so adorable ! i would love one but don't dare....haven't the expertise...my phals are happy (thanks to all of you guys) but i should probably stick to the learning phase before moving on....
Mine is struggling with the transition to semi hydro. Her bulbs shriveled. :( She’s working on two new growths though. Hopefully she will pull through.
Thank you so much, Danny, for the videos about Encyclia and Epidendrum in the past. I've been wondering why some culture sheets saying Epidendrum and Encyclia are both Cattleya kind. They look so different from Cattleya to me. Is there a (scientific) reason why those two can be categorized to Cattleya?
oh my god! i wish i had watched this earlier over the summer contracted the fungus when the weather got hotter? my doctor ben had the exact same thing! a bit of dye back on one leaf and the other just black spotting. i didn't panic i just sprayed the leaves with h202. i tried to channel Danny in that moment ..and think "what would Danny do!!" haha..its true, i do that a lot!! xoxo L.
Hi Danny. Awww. Looks like a miniature watermelon patch 😬. 😋. The sharry baby have aggressive leaf dieback also ? The calming factor is aggressive root growth ??
I have a question, not necessary regarding this video, can i use lecca beads just as a "normal" media to say, not semi-hydro, just put the lecca in a normal plastic pot with holes at the bottom and plant the orchid in it and water it once a week... basicly can i use lecca same as i would use bark chips...hope all of this makes sense, oh and i would really apreciate an reply.
I had the same sort of extensive leaf tip dieback on a Psychopsis because of excessive drying. It stopped with increased watering and a slightly more water-retensive medium.
I just bought one and am getting all the research I can for it's care. Always coming to you first and am so glad you have a care guide!

Have you ever had seed pod on your tampensis and if so did you have any success sowing the seed thanks for your time. Orchid on my friend
@@jennifermuth6439 seed pod yes, but never grown anything from one. All my buds died this year too, so no flowers.

I never grown from seed eighter but looking to try🌱💪🌸

Are you still growing it in leca? Or switched to moss and bark?
Danni have you had seed pods on this orchid and if so what's the method to sow these seed pods
What is this medium you are using. Where can. I buy this?

Do you still use hydroponics for your Enc. cordigera?

Hi Dani! Good day! :-) just wanna ask if you have idea if ENCYCLIA are sequencial bloomer? Thank you so so much! :-)
Hi, some are such as the former Encyclia cochleata :)
Thank you very much! :-)

Are encyclia fast or slow growers?
they can produce new growths 2-3 times per year
