I am so glad I looked at you video. I was getting ready to repot my Encyclia Alata and pot the aerial roots. It actually does not need to be reported. Thank you!!
I have an encyclia and its starting to get grow those aerial roots. I love this plant, its great and its not one of those orchids you'll find at a home depot. I bought it from you guys and im happy to see my plant happy and healthy. Merry christmas to all of you at Larrys orchids!
Hi Luke, started collecting orchids two years ago and have an Encyclia cochleata when very small, it has doubled in size and today I see a bloom. Most of my plants are phalaenopsis and have gotten them to rebloom also. I brought them all to my office in the spring and they were in a corner with windows all around facing N/NW. But brought them home in the fall when I was moved to an interior room with no windows. They all came into bloom and are doing well but I wonder what to do to offer them more light. I don't have much light and wonder about grow lights. Your opinion?
The Cattleya Alliance orchids do not like being re-potted. Cordigera hybrids are slow growing. They need half a days moisture in the media. I do not use store bought media for this type. Cordigera types need to dry between waterings for half a day. Cured cedar chunks are best as this media takes fifteen years or more to break down. A small layer of tiny rocks can be used in the top of the growing media to slow moisture evaporation. These types enjoy being potted in a wooden basket that does not rot. I prefer baskets made of pine as when the wood greys it 'turns' and will NOT ROT. Since leaves of Cordigera hybrids can grow to three or even four feet in length a hanging basket is best. Done well it can be an awesome summertime porch plant hanging from the overhang of your house. No direct light but good bright light. Cordigera Hybrids are also amazingly fragrant. In a very good way.

Well if your orchid has root rot you can use air roots to hydrate the orchid.

Dude, check your pronunciation of the word “Encyclia” lol
Mispronunciation of encyclia - please it's EN - SIK - LEE - YA - is so irritating, especially from someone who really should know better!
Paul Saunders yah it was bothering me too lol
