Happy day Fernanda 🤩 I keep looking at it 🤔, is that pot going to be big enough? 🤣. I have decided to leave her be for now but on “standby to up pot” at a moment’s notice 🤣🤣🌸
The Epicyclia Serena O'Neill was recently suggested to me at a local orchid nursery so I bought it. I have alot of small grade bark leftover from a paphiopedilum repot. The Serena O'Neill is a hybrid of an orchid originally from Central America, but unlike cattleyas prefers to stay moist hense the small grade bark. Not too many videos out there, so I was glad to have this one recommended to me by RUclips.
Welcome Joe to the living room! 😊 This lady is doing marvelous in the set up. Finished the three growths and is pushing a new one. She does seem to be enjoying the added moisture the mix is providing. What other orchids do you grow? 🌸
@@TrishsOrchidLife I recently bought these along with the Serena O'Neill: Dendrobium kingianum - Western Australia Gastrochilus japonicus (Mounted) - East Asia Bulbophyllum barbigerum (Mounted) - Western/Central Africa Phalaenopsis schilleriana (Luzon Philippines) Phalaenopsis bellina Sarawak ('Red Apple' x alba) - Indonesia Phalaenopsis violacea Malay-Sumat coerulea Tawan Blue
I have a variety of each of these as well. The kingianum is the oldest. Bought as a seedling 🌱 The bulbo…. Well this is my second (and probably last) attempt to grow. My bellina has finally opened her first bloom yesterday and I am now waiting for the “famous” scent to come. 🌸
@@TrishsOrchidLife I always make it a point to pop into the “beginner session” of my orchid society meeting each month. Knowledge paralysis is a thing - where as you gain more knowledge in a thing m, you forget the bare basic rules and/or you forget that what is “obvious” or “common sense” to you, isn’t to a newbie or someone who isn’t familiar with a subject that you know well. Last week, the session just happened to be matching the right sized bark to your orchid and I was reminded myself of this basic rule. Not that I forgot it, but we can get caught up in the minutiae of complex problems, it’s good to reminded of those fundamentals we learned eons ago. At least it is for me, anyway 💚🌿
Joyous Orchids I am wanting to join a society but just have not yet 😒. I agree with you on the benefits of having reminders as we do tend to “forget”. In addition to learning, which is most important in our hobby. Especially with all the knowledge a group like an Orchid Society has! ❤️🌸 I will try to make this a priority this year. Thank you 🙏 🌸
Very good instructional video, thank you👍🏻 I have (1) E.codigera- E.randii that has survived all my neglect . Luckily I planted it right and the humidity and patio sunshine sustained it. So I been researching how to repot it, and this is perfect. And I’ll be using my Dynomyco mycorrhizal fungi just as you did. Great tip!
Yay! So happy I was able to make a difference for you and your repot. I have definitely loved using mycorrhizal fungi in my ladies. Have definitely noticed an improvement in root growth and recovery from stressful repottings. Have a wonderful weekend 🌸
Hallo Tess! Thanks for watching although you do not have this orchid. I saw those bulbs and had to have it… not the blooms but the bulbs. Different than the usual reason one would normally be drawn to an orchid 🤣🤣🌸 Hope your week is starting off great! 🤩🌸
Mycorrhizal Fungi. It is “supposed to” encourage healthy roots in plants (not just orchids) via micro organisms. The brand I use is Myco Supreme off Amazon ( no affiliation). I just started using this a few months ago and have seen a difference in the orchids I have put it in compared to those without. Those with developed a better root system sooner. 🌸
Very vigorous, she will grow well and fast ❤❤❤

Trish, She's looking great!
Sherrii😊
Thanks 🙏 Sherrii!!! ❤️🌸
Remember we are always matching the bark to the size of the roots. Not the size of the orchid. The bark size you used was spot on imo
Thank you for the confirmation Sharon as I was second guessing myself ❤️🌸🤩

What is the fungi stuff you put in? What’s the name and purpose?
