I love watching the chips fly, great old saw! Thanks for sharing. I run a late 80's 038 Super, I just put a new 28" Sugihara on it running a full comp chisel, it pulls it just fine. It's my go to for felling and bucking. I'm a part time Stihl tech at a local shop, while I like the new Stihls, they just aren't built as tough as the old ones, they are beasts.
Sometimes it is worth it to pay up for quality. Good example of that in your Stihl. But like you mentioned in the video about the Amazon Chainsaw,,,, all depends on your needs to determine what's worth spending extra for.
Awesome saw there eh! I have multiple brand saws also my favorite is the one is the one that has the longest bar on at the time, so I don't have to bend over as much, lol.
First new saw I bought new was a Husqvarna L65 in late 70s, it also was my first saw that got took apart by a big tree in early 80s then replace with another on like it, they're still plenty of them around. I forgot the next Husqvarna in late 80s but wasn't happy with it so around 1990 I bought my first Stihl 044 Mag, that worked good for around 2 or 3 years then bar oil started leaking into fuel tank. So put it the shelf and went back to Husqvarna something, then late 1990s my sone was liken wrenches so I had him take the Stihl apart find out why how bar oil was getting into fuel, he found bad gasket so replaced it then ran it for several more years then motor made abnormal sound then it wouldn't run and that was that..... Couple interesting thing about that 044 Mag, air filter needed filter oil and for some reason 18" bars had two same teeth on one side, my son has 5 year old Stihls and his chains have two same teeth on one side. I dont know why Stihl does that unless it's their way of putting a marker on chain of where to start filing. Another thing I notice is Stihl chains stay sharper longer..... So far in 50 years of saws, I have best luck with my [02] CS 2153 and [04] 2171 Jonsereds, both are still going strong, not so much for the company...... One way to not worry about your hair is buy one of them fancy $300.00 chainsaw helmets like they have across the pond. Them that buy those helmets also have no problem buying $800.00 logger boots with $100.00 socks, maybe they can afford $800.00 boots after buying Amazon chainsaws.........
@job38four10 044 is a great saw. Too bad for Jonsered. Stihl chains are really good, most times I use Oregon... or whatever is available. More to come on saws... thanks for watching!
Lots of chains have 2 sequential teeth on one side, on certain lengths they do that to fill the gap. It just the way the numbers work out on certain bar lengths and chain pitches.

@robinelston5966 That's awesome! Maybe I'll put a longer bar on this baby! It definitely could handle it! Thanks for watching Robin
Ya I’m a Stihl guy always been always will be. Man you can hear the power in that old 038.
@@russellbelliveau1694 Russ, this thing is great. I think it'd be pretty easy to get my money back.... just not from my brother🤣
we had a Stihl 028 when I was growing up. That was a good little saw.
@@bendaniel2334 Those are nice!

@@denislosieroutdoors Agreed. This saw could sport a 24"bar with ease, but since it's cherry...cuts fast=less time leaning
Good morning Derek, very nice 👍
@@whenworkisplay Thanks! It's a ripper
I'd be proud to run that saw
@@OpenAirAdventureFirewood It's really a great saw for sure
Ya nice 62cc saw my friend
@@eugenecunningham491 Ha!
Much better choice than the 'chainsaw'! I did notice it said 'chainsaw' on the handle sticker however 🤣 I got an 026 that's about the same vintage.
@@southernadirondackoutdoors Good eye! More snow today.... no cutting today. 026 is a great saw!
