Buckin, I just found your channel 2 days ago and have barely slept from watching your content around the clock. Completely addictive. I’m 60 and just retired, still in good shape but haven’t run a saw in 20 years. My dad put me on an 18lb Echo as an 11 year old in the 70’s and I was hooked right away. You’re making me want to run out and buy a new Husky, get it ported and piped and just listen to it in the garage. Keep it coming for us old guys reliving some great memories and thinking about making some new ones.
Buckin I’ve watched your videos for a while, and I noticed when you shut any saw down you always pull the cord out just a bit. Could you explain that. I believe it saves the cord from the sudden tug.
I've been running a 1968 right hand start 10-10 I rebuilt and I love that saw, so nice to use. You're right about Macs and horses buck'in, no need to get all excited when working with them, let them set the pace. Always a thumbs up. 👍
I have watched your channel for a few years I have a pro Mac 700 I got it new about 1984 I did forest service clear cut s for the fire wood for about 6 years . I am 71 now and the saw is still used it to cut fire wood . It has never been rebuilt but serviced on a regularly .great to see you do a spot on Pro Mac
Hey Buckin, your a serious inspiration for me and people in general, I love the positive attitude and can only hope other people that watch you can see what can happen with just giving and being a true person can do for yourself and others, the rewards are truly amazing!
I broke out the old 024 wood boss the other day still runs great hasn't seen much action since I got the 365. Thanks Buckin for showing us the older saws it's great to see!!!
I too just found this channel and am hooked, I asked myself … where IS this guy, and you said immediately “here in Vancouver Island … as if you heard me! Love to you and your family- I wish I kept those old Homelites my buddy’s dad threw out, I was a STIHL snob and still am but definitely will be checking out garage sales and giveaways for some dinosaurs!!!
Hey Buckin my son bought some saws a couple years ago almost all mac 2 300s a 24 and a 36 a 510 a 710 pro and a titan. Just to add to our collection of the 610 pro 10 10 naturally my favorite a couple mini mac's a. Mac 6 super pro and a couple 31 14s. I been subscribed since the beginning I think. Love you bro!!!!!!!!! And we must all love one another
There are very likely hundreds of thousands of these old Mac's still running and being used all over the USA. They were dirt cheap decades ago and homeowners all over the USA were buying them. In the fifty or so years I have owned one since it was brand new I have only had to change the pull chord on time. Using a bit longer pull chord makes starting it far easier.
Love your videos!!! You were riding the bus at 19….I was driving the bus at 16. Back in the day we could do that . That how I bought a 69 ford truck from my pop.
hey buddy, thanks for going back to the root start of your journey with that ol' Mac. seeing these vid's with old power saws always makes my day. Happy to see your doing great brother! love ya as always.
Buckin, I was brought to your channel about 3 years ago because I wanted to learn more about Mcculloch etc. Great to see you getting back to your roots! I’ve got 2 Pro Mac 10-10’s, easiest starting and best running saws I have.
My wifes uncle was cleaning his garage yestarday and dropped off to me a pro mac 10-10. Popped off with a little gas dumped in the carb. I cant wait for the carb kit and fuel line to get here. I have wanted to run one for a long time
That's great. My first car was a 73 pinto wagon. It was puke yellow. Slept in the back regularly. Had plenty of whoopie in that car...what a pile, but got the job done!
Brother I find the same thing on my old Macs...let them do their thing before ya start turning screws....soooooooo true😊😊loved the video, that 1010 is a runner my friend🙌🙆🙆love the content, hope ya had a fantastic day❤much love from the Barths❤❤..and very true...your not sorry until your done...perfect ❤
When I was a kid, my dads PRO Mac 700 would drive me crazy because it was so loud it would wake me up on Saturday mornings. Now it's my most prized possession. I just tuned it up, and it cuts better than my new Stihl 290.
The 700 was a strong weight for power ratio. The 10-10 or 55 weight the same ?. run the 700.But the vibration would put my hands to sleep could not feel the saw set it down grabed the pro 81 it had rubber motor mounts . ripped threw soft woods.
Buckin, I have watched your channel for many years and the motivational words during each video is always uplifting. I can't thank you enough for all that you bring to a fellow firewood cutting enthusiast. I learned to buck rounds at 12 years old with my grandfather and here I am now showing my kids the importance to mind and soul it brings to me. If you are ever in Pennsylvania and want the chance to fell and buck some monster oak, ash and river birch give a shout. God speed and keep on bringing smiles to the big world out there.
The first saw in my hands at 12 years old was a homelite 240, which I still have in the shed. Loads of memories were made running that saw with my grandfather.
I love the woods and everything that goes with them. I believe humans and trees are mutually dependent. Thanks for the preaching at the end - you're not wrong!
16:30 I mowed lawns, cut/split firewood, and did small construction clean up jobs from 14-16 years old. Bought in 2006 my first 1976 Chevy nova hatchback w a 4banger in it
When I was 13 I got my first paying job at a hardware store. We sold and repaired those old Mac’s. I’d love to get my hands on another one. Love them old saws!
Another great video! I like to play with the old homelite super xls myself, but as was said, when its time to work, the modern saws come out. One recommendation i do have for folks, and please nobody see this as a criticism, we all do things our own way, keep a good grip on that forward handle. I too used to be complacent and let it go occasionally. A piece of barbed wire hiding in the wood sure reminded me when the saw jumped and tried to eat me. Just a reminder to folks to be safe is all. I also recommend glasses of some kind, my eyes seem to be wood chip magnets😂. Most importantly just get out in the trees!
A caution flag for the world of danger. We watch Buckin workin and see the chips flyin....been called a safety Sally more than once for pointing out eye protection being important only because because of the personal experience
It's important to pay attention when you read a comment about a close call or injuries, a piece of barbed wire embedded in the wood making the saw jump is a rare occurrence but it is possible... not criticism... caution I throw down the caution flag for safety more than most, slows down the job, have cut into many mails and screws over the years in the urban forest, chunking down old dead trees and pruning backyard obstructions. The gals wood think i was trying to be a chick magnet when they saw me winking at them, when in reality I was blinking because my eyes were chip-magnets 😂😢😅😎
I'm almost 44, I can remember when I was younger my old man tell me a story in the late seventies he wanted to become a Mac dealer and had a certain amount of time to sell I think eight of these 650 pro Max so him and my uncle got bunch of other buddies together and they had them all sold in 4 days and he told me the story of them taking two of them and cutting up an aluminum Tire rack and making a go-kart that about killed the most of them but I still have one of those first saws he had to sell.
Bought a Pro Mac 55 at a garage sale for 25 bucks. That was about 30 years ago. I believe that saw never been touched. Still original plug and air filter. Definitely have to have hearing protection. Has become my favorite bucking saw . Pretty sure it’s a 74 model year so 50 now and still going strong.
1) Your saw has piston rings that leak when cold - when it warms up they seal and it idles properly. 50 years of small engine repair talking. 2) When you said it was special I thought it was going to be a 10-10E with electric start. The ni-cad pack is made in the lower handle strap and the starter is gearless i.e. it's a motor made into the flywheel. Mine is a '67 model I believe. 3) I also got a Homelite XL-15. It's an XL-12 with an auxiliary planetary gear reduction made into the sprocket cover - Mine's got a 30" bar on it! It also is a '67 I believe.
Buckin says I’m pumped up today I don’t know why. Buckin’s pumped up almost every day. 😀 old saws are the best. I got mine because of you sir, and it may be a little heavy for my old age, but it sure does cut sweet.
The good ole 10-10 pro Mac! First saw I ran, and logged with, it would just go and go, could not kill that saw! Cut a ton of peeled popple with that old ProMac 10-10 with a hard nosed bar!
First saw was a Lombard somewhere around 12 yrs old around 1960???. Pulling a small trailer with a Sears 2 wheel garden tractor, brother was on the 2/4 rubbing the trailer wheel for a brake. How I got to 76 only GOD knows. You always got a good story Billy Ray Love U
I’ve always wondered what that 4- stroke sound is at wide open but not in the wood? What is going on with the saw when they make that noise. Some seem to do that and others don’t?
I got a nice Pro Mac 10-10 the other day.1 owner and original 24" McCulloch bar and i just put a new Archer chain on it. It's a beast and ive ran all sorts of stihls and huskys around the farm. McCulloch saws are high performance saws compared to other companies.
Thanks for getting me into these well built saws Buckin. I appreciate you and your ways of being kind, caring and compassionate to others and never kick anyone when there down and don't judge people because it's bad enough that these people are going through hell so don't add to it. Thanks Buckin. Your just like my grandmother taught me to be. We were potato farmers here in Western NY and we had contracts with wise potato chips and my grandma was a hard worker and had wealth but she wasn't greedy, she wanted to help people every day. She was a giver and wanted to lift people up daily. I can remember so many times that she helped our neighbors in need. These people wouldn't have to ask her for help she would just do it out of the kindness of her heart.
Saws that settle down are saws that leak air when cold and as they warm like the SR 71 blackbird leaks fuel when cold they tighten up and quit leaking!
Forgive me if I'm misremembering, but don't you have an old school homelite that's ported?...what I can remember is that thing ripping through wood and it just sounded awesome! All of your saws sound great though and make quick work of whatever they are chewing on. Thank you for your time and efforts into teaching all of us. Be safe and God bless.
I have an old Stihl 029 it’s like that Mac. On start up it idles high and chain will spin then after about 2 minutes the idle will settle down and the chain will stop. After the saw is warmed up it won’t do it until a cold start.
Excellent video Brother! Question: is there a particular grind that works best (long ways) with the fiber? Like in milling. I’d love to hear your take on this. Love ya Billy Ray! Thanks always
I like those lime green ones best. The ones made in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. Break out that P51 or P38 once in a while Buckn. Just love the sound that P51 makes when ya got er wide open.
I have 2 1010s and they both fire up and run like animals. My father always talked about one he had but let someone use and they touched the jets and blew up that was a beast. I hooked the old man up with the better of the two.
You have to be a wizard with Mccullough saws. We have a saying here in north central Pennsylvania. Not much luck with a Muck-A-Luck. I have to admit your saws run great.
Is that a chain oiler your pushing on? Seems like the engine bogs momentarily when you push it, so maybe something else. Not familiar with these older saws. Sounds sweet. Woulda thought it was a larger engine than 54cc
I know that chain is top notch sharp but a 28" on 50 some ccs is ridiculous. They built them different then. I run an 046 over a 460 Stihl cause it was my grandpa's and I just happen to be a tree man. But in reality its a better saw than the 460. But dang that Mac it truly exceptional. Thank you for sharing. A ripsaw before ripsaw. Lol but really.
Buckin, I just found your channel 2 days ago and have barely slept from watching your content around the clock. Completely addictive. Brother we love ya , thanks for the words
That saw sounds so good!! I’ve got a 500 and it’s sweet but those older saws, especially when they are tuned like yours…are just fantastic.
Buckin I’ve watched your videos for a while, and I noticed when you shut any saw down you always pull the cord out just a bit. Could you explain that. I believe it saves the cord from the sudden tug.
@@CindyHarrah-b4mhe does that because it's easier on the clutch when he shuts the saw off...
I never should’ve left Hopper’s old Homelites at the curb where he put them…
I've been running a 1968 right hand start 10-10 I rebuilt and I love that saw, so nice to use. You're right about Macs and horses buck'in, no need to get all excited when working with them, let them set the pace. Always a thumbs up. 👍

I broke out the old 024 wood boss the other day still runs great hasn't seen much action since I got the 365. Thanks Buckin for showing us the older saws it's great to see!!!
I’ve got the 365 , don’t miss those old saws , no antivibe and the manual oiler . The new saws have come a long way , powerful and light . 👍🇨🇦
I too just found this channel and am hooked, I asked myself … where IS this guy, and you said immediately “here in Vancouver Island … as if you heard me! For a minute there…… I thought you weren’t gonna Think It Through and Come Up With A Plan. Good man Buckin’! Love Ya!! 6:08
Yes this reminds me of my Sachs-Dolmar 133. Old saw-old woman, 85cc, grumpy after start, wonderful after 3-4 minutes. Good video. Get the Gullet!
Thanks for breaking out the old stuff again! Love the old saws! Hard to believe that 54cc saw will run that big a bar!
Hey Buckin my son bought some saws a couple years ago almost all mac 2 300s a 24 and a 36 a 510 a 710 pro and a titan. They are fun as a hobby but not on a hill side . Love the Mac’s
those old saws bring back memories!!...thumbs up

The Mac 10-10 is how I found your channel years ago. Love it.

Thought you forgot about "big yellow" and so glad for more vintage saws footage coming up!!!

Just got in the house, was gonna watch unforgiven and her I am watching buckin runnin old power saws 😂
love the video ! hope we get a video when you make that bench !
Thanks I sure have missed those old macs
Bought a Pro Mac 55 at a garage sale for 25 bucks. That was about 30 years ago. I believe that saw never been touched. Still original plug and air filter. Definitely have to have hearing protection. Has become my favorite bucking saw . Pretty sure it’s a 74 model year so 50 now and still going strong.
When the chain stops, that’s Mac’s way of telling you, it’s warm and ready to use.
Thank you for sharing that sweet ol ProMac
You bet
My dad bought a Mac 10-10 in the late 70's. Still a champ. And loud as hell
Are you going live today? I was wondering how much is the wood bullet Head alone.? I'm thinking about two. I will halft them myself...
Ive never ran that old of a saw.
Is that a manual oil pump that you are pumping?
Yup its manual oiling. Just like my old Homelite XL12. Sure glad they invented automatic oilers :-)
Buckin says I’m pumped up today I don’t know why. Buckin’s pumped up almost every day. 😀 old saws are the best. I got mine because of you sir, and it may be a little heavy for my old age, but it sure does cut sweet.
I like that. I never understood people who do things that create nothing..its literally like they cant see.
Buckin, another excellent piece of work and advice from your heart 💜👍😮😊❤
I really look forward to all of your new videos coming up
The good ole 10-10 pro Mac! First saw I ran, and logged with, it would just go and go, could not kill that saw! Cut a ton of peeled popple with that old ProMac 10-10 with a hard nosed bar!
Hey buckin great video about the old saws. I also love the old saws and trucks. Any info on your muffler for the 572. Thanks
Soon
I got my first saw a mini-mac for my 10th birthday and it took a couple of minutes to idle down. I'm 71 and still have it and it still runs.
First saw was a Lombard somewhere around 12 yrs old around 1960???. Pulling a small trailer with a Sears 2 wheel garden tractor, brother was on the 2/4 rubbing the trailer wheel for a brake. How I got to 76 only GOD knows. You always got a good story Billy Ray Love U
glad yer here Lar,
Seeing that truck bed full of wood is a beautiful thing Buckin! Man that saw rips!
iagree
We are glad your hear ❤❤
Great Chainsaw...
😎 cool
Greetings from Germany Peter
Not a bad old saw, these were made from June 1977 to September 1982 and are 54cc. Loud as hell like my old 1971 Homelite XL-12 lol
54cc…with a 28” bar. Men and saws were built different back in the day.
yes they were
The old saws are great therapy
I’ve always wondered what that 4- stroke sound is at wide open but not in the wood? What is going on with the saw when they make that noise. Some seem to do that and others don’t?
Billy I can see you love that yellow saw❤😊😊😊
Saws that settle down are saws that leak air when cold and as they warm like the SR 71 blackbird leaks fuel when cold they tighten up and quit leaking!
That mac sounds killer!!!
Small block Chevy too😊
Love those 10-10’s!
Don’t try that with today’s bumpers on new trucks, your bumper will be sitting there on the ground 😂.
😂😂😂👍
How bout a homelight used many. Fav, was home 360. awsome saw
That Mac is clean!
I have an old Stihl 029 it’s like that Mac. On start up it idles high and chain will spin then after about 2 minutes the idle will settle down and the chain will stop. After the saw is warmed up it won’t do it until a cold start.
Merry Christmas BBR to you and your family!
Love seeing you run the old macs

I have 2 1010s and they both fire up and run like animals. My father always talked about one he had but let someone use and they touched the jets and blew up that was a beast. I hooked the old man up with the better of the two.
ya got to get the old gal up to temp and dont rush it
Been a while since we see an ol Mac on the channel. I had a 10-10 sow up in the mail today 👍

You're sorry when you're done!! Amen brother. ❤ love the vibe❤
Buckin I’m 22 and got a tree service job mainly because of you. Thanks you for inspiring me hopefully it turns out well
It will be what you want it to be
