Thank you Bucking Billy Ray! The wind bomb left our home and property in a disaster and you saved us. The food bank will get a generous gift in your name and the neighbors will get free wood for always being good to us. Thanks for showing there is real goodness in the world. And my 73 year old husband thanks you too!
From a guy who’s been watching all your videos since 2019, this was a fantastic session. I learned something, and for that, I’m grateful. Skills, buckin. Skills.
hey, im not really shure what you mean by you "learned" something from this. This should NOT be done. Like he said himself this was really risky. No working zone, no predictability ... no safety nets at all.. do not try anything you've seen here
I was never so glad to see a tree on the ground. I am so thankful that you didn't get hurt especially when you were going backwards there at one point. The good Lord was watching over you Billy Ray. Love you my brother.
Hey man. I live here in western North Carolina where we got hit by the most devastating storm this region has ever seen. Since it hit, I have yet to write an invoice for any of my work either. I’ve been surviving on the generosity of others unaffected that support the work I’m doing. It’s so important to give back and offer services to those who would otherwise not be able to afford it. Thanks for being another example of that. It’s good to see I’m not the only one. Much love and keep it up.
@ it ain’t easy brother…entire towns have been wiped off the map, people sleeping in “hot tents” or on the streets in 20 degrees who used to have homes. Insurance claims denied everywhere. Just got potable water back after two months without. Can’t go anywhere without reliving the trauma. We haven’t even managed to make a dent in the recovery for many areas. The trauma here is palpable. Of course the news has long since moved on…but we are still here…
@@johnjay5143you obviously don't live here. DT isn't going to speed this up at all. You don't understand just how wrecked WNC is. If you had a million people who's only jobs where to rebuild roads remove trees and rebuild houses and they had unlimited money and unlimited supplies and unlimited access to heavy equipment it would still take the next three or four years to even come close to a full recovery. And no president is sending that kind of help at one time and to have it stay here for that long.
When a serious tree cutting expret tells you "I'm telling you NOT to do this", you should listen. This is a master class in intimate knowledge, tied tight with immeasurable experience and carefully weighted with risk management. Not gonna sugar coat it -- I'm pretty sure I wouldn't try this super scary session...But I would like to be there to learn :)
I've been running saws for 40 years and I would have passed on the job. Never thought of using a wedge on a sliding cut like you demonstrated. I'm too old to be out in the forest, but it's always helpful to see a master at work.
You can't do this for a thirty year career and expect to be walking. That said, I've been on fire crews that took down acres of hung up trees like this and I'm amazed we never had to do paperwork.
Wow, I hope people can appreciate the level of danger involved with a tree in this predicament (let alone the size, weight and the sistering crowns) . Buckin your skills are off the chart!
Not many guys on earth can do that job . And it AMAZED me that you didn't get pinched ONCE . Buckin' you are truly the best I've ever seen . Thanks for taking us with you all these years brother . :)

No tractor or heavy equipment….. just BBR and a chip hungry husky. 👌 I feel sometimes it’s easy for one to sit at home and critique one’s choices they made while working out in the elements. I also feel there have never been 2 trees that I personally have trimmed or removed that were exactly the same limb/stem structure or obstacles around them. Like people, they’re all uniquely different. I think you pre-meditated the whole logistics of that specific scenario perfectly. That’s what makes you Buckin’ Billy Ray. Thanks for spreading knowledge, kindness and getting the gullet! Much love from a Florida tree service brother.

“Fence Posting”, like “Domino Falling” (“in”famously in your Outro’s/years ago video), is controversial and dangerous… but, like you said: it gives you options, which is invaluable. Knowledge is power, more tools in your toolbox. I think people get too invested in a certain mindset/technique and then become myopic, limited, and complacent, so when they see something that they didn’t consider/goes against “their upbringing”, they go against it automatically, become defensive, and rationalize/ego massage their own lack of options and creativity; which is a fallacy. Whatever works with the resources at hand; most people can’t throw money (and time) at possible solutions. It worked. Simple as that. Keep up the good work, Billy!
