Nice new saw! We haven't seen "Chainsaw" in awhile, did it self destruct yet?
@southernadirondackoutdoors Thanks Paul! It's still going! I've used it to clear some trails and it actually does OK
You know what the right number of chainsaws to have is? Answer == More.

Nice saw! That made me want to go cut some wood!
@@upinsmokefirewood Thanks! Let's go!
“ I need another chainsaw like I need a hole in my head “ 😂😂😂. Nice saw Derek! I love browsing around dealers like that, I rarely buy anything but I love looking at cool stuff! Hope you had a good Christmas!
@765Guys Thanks Genin! I drool alot. Merry Christmas!
@765Guys Husqvarna will have to come out with a new model before you're able to buy one. You have them all now 😆
Dry firewood is dry firewood. Pine is fine
@@WilleysFirewood Attaboy!
they are well stored
Don’t blame you at all especially after loading it by hand in 9* weather! It’s not the point, it’s the principle. Merry Christmas Derek! 👊🏻🎁🎄🇺🇸
@TwinCityFirewood For sure. We all work hard for what we've got. You can't just walk out of the grocery store with a full cart, unless each thing has been paid for & they count the money in front of you! Merry Christmas to you and your family. 👍👊
Glad it worked out!
@ssr4656 thank you!
Happened to me just today. Told the new customer “cash or Venmo” I loaded a cord in the dump trailer at -10° this morning. Fought his driveway, fought insanely cold hydraulic fluid, fought the cold. Dumped the wood and the guy says I only have Zelle. Spent 1hr trying to get enough service for him to open his old Venmo acct. long story short..I left a cord of firewood to a new customer without being paid. I hope my faith in humanity doesn’t bite me in the ass. Gentleman seemed worthy but we shall see. This is a very very small town. Haha Merry Christmas my friend.
@ShermanLawncareAndFirewood Nuts...!! That's why I establish "cash is king" with customers.
@ I’m happy to report at 9:30 I heard that familiar cha-ching from my phone. So I don’t have to threaten anyone on Christmas Eve..but the day is young. 🤣
@@ShermanLawncareAndFirewood 🤣🤣🤣
When I pay someone like the guy who hauled me a dozen 6yard loads gravel last year, I counted out $800.00 in cash in his hand then had my secretary write the rest out in a check. Even though he's known me all my life I still paid him openly in his hand, because sometimes I dont count money right even after I count it 10 times..... But when I buy stuff, in my wallet credit card is King, I'm lucky if I keep $100.00 at home. I think if I was selling wood for living I'd have some way to have people use a credit/debit card so the money would go right in my account, no counting paper just swipe the card and call again.........
Yup, after freezing your butt off every penny counts! Hope you and your family have a happy, safe and healthy Christmas and New Year 👍TCT
@TonysCoolTools Thanks so much! Merry Christmas Tony. God bless you and your family!
I always count the money in front of them before I dump any of the wood.
@@WilleysFirewood That's even better. Sad that it's even necessary
@ I've been burned a few times so it's just lessons learned. I learn all my lessons the hard way
Great looking firewood ya made. Hopefully, it was just a mistake on their part. And yes, that's what they owe ya. I always count the money in front of them. But sometimes ya trust them and bingo, this happens.
@@OpenAirAdventureFirewood Thanks! It may have been a mistake... but caught it in time. I certainly would sell to them again.
Hey,,, off topic but congratulations on hitting 500 subs!! Just noticed, awesome to see your channel growing
@FirewoodInTheField Thanks, Matt! It's al lot of fun. Great people
Glad it all worked out! This is good advice,, I will be counting the cash in front of them before putting it in my pocket or getting in my truck. Luckily, my experience has been that most people are honest, but even simple counting mistakes can happen. Merry Christmas 🎄
Absolutely true, most folks are transparent and honest. Mistakes do happen, but firewood is hard work and should be worth soooo much more😂.
Good for you, I may not have said anything. I usually don’t count the money until I’m gone from the place.👍👍
@outdoorsinthe608 Thanks Jeremiah. I got burned $50 once.... only once....
Looks like you won't run out of logs any time soon!
@upinsmokefirewood For sure Steve! Looking forward to it actually.
I thought about lights but guessing close proximity to neighbors might hinder my relationship to them. 🙄 Haha that no ballast makes you pucker..I got real lucky the other day, half tote of Red Oak and headed down back with it and never looked to see if I was in 4WD…I managed to ride it out but def made me sweat before I got it whoa’d up. Haha Great job Derek
@ShermanLawncareAndFirewood Thanks, Mike! These party/deck lights work great, they're not like a spot light in the yard.... kinda chill. 😎 That'll make you pucker indeed!
Might be Hickory
Basswood, looks similar to some Hickory. 👍
@dereksstuff8395 oh ya. I'm not familiar with it. Are you thinking bass wood?
@@OpenAirAdventureFirewood It is Basswood (aka Linden tree), very low quality firewood. Burns a bit like poplar/aspen. It floats really good, so great for decoy ducks
If ya don't tell anybody, it never happened 😅. These short days really suck Derek. We are gaining a minute a day, so we are on the right track
@@OpenAirAdventureFirewood That's it! Positive thinking
Working in the dark is sometimes the only option this time of year. Good job
@@WilleysFirewood thanks Russ!
Nice job man, think I have a few loads of pine coming soon. Gotta see if it’s worth the labor
@ShermanLawncareAndFirewood I'm hoping to sell to campgrounds this coming year.... we'll see!
Cool tractor! I have a 1710. What do you have on the loader for quick attachment?
@outdoorsinthe608 Thanks Jeremiah! 1992 1720. I love your tractor! I did a conversion to quick attach a few years ago, best decision ever. I had bought the parts and just modified my loader and bucket. Some day I'll do a video of the process that it took.
@ that would be a very interesting video! Thank you👍👍
Must be trying prove not enough daylight in winter time, and I'm much better giving/selling advice then helping, like that tailgate needs to have a slide-in extension, it will help not to handle wood 15 more times, and a pto winch makes great ballast, only cost 30-ish cord of wood, less if you deliver to Lake St George Liberty ME...... That ash like looking tree could useless basswood.........
Useless Basswood is correct!
Take the ash before they get too far gone, it isn't fun felling trees with dead tops.
@@southernadirondackoutdoors We sure will. Thanks for watching Paul
Was that tree a poplar?

@whenworkisplay Thanks! Merry Christmas Ben!
Wouldn't a higher amp alternator make more sense in your case? The stock 130amp alternator is pretty small for a truck, you can get a 250 or 320 amp upgrade. An AGM battery is also a good upgrade for cold starting
@Motorsportsgeek it sure would. Maybe if this doesn't help, AGM will be next. Thanks!
I see a little red-neck engineering going on here......... I dont see why this wont help with more battery power, but maybe a $300.00 deep cycle battery would work better, you just have to figure out how to get $300.00, for me sometimes that would be harder......... Dont you have a small shop for doing this sort of D-Stuff with small HF mig welder, to make a battery tray, and some solder to solder cable lugs on, so not be out in the cold weather freezing fingers off, causing more frustration..... Evidently you must like doing D-Stuff in cold weather, cause I would thrown the pliers lot further then you did........
@job38four10 THANKS! I do have a fully loaded shop, (air compressor, lathe, milling machine, multiple welders etc..) but not at my woodlot. The cold doesn't really bother me much, I just point it out for the people who hate it🤣. Here in The Adirondacks, it's a long way to anywhere. A $300 battery would be better, but I already owned this stuff. (Garage sale buy on the battery terminal stuff)
The peeling plate doesnt work that great unless you're deeper in the round when it gets stuck. The wedge needs to go up inside two plates to push it off.
@russellhorner4950 Thanks Russell! I would make a different plate for this machine, but it's not really a huge issue. One could just keep a small chunk of wood handy, and just place it between the stripper and the block.
Well done! What species of tree is that?
@PasqualeDeAngelis999 Thanks Pat! That's balsam fir, aka "triple balsam"
Oh my!!
Nice tree Griswald haha

@WilleysFirewood Thanks Russ! I love your channel. Looks like you're "not-so" retired!🤣
Theres nothing like limbs and branches on woods road when diving a tractor in winter time, they really are a attention getter, and they also help to learn speaking in tongues, and thats one reason I have cage on my tractor......... I could smell that Christmas tree all the way over in in ME, that and pine are favorite smelling trees. You ever wonder how Griswold got his Christmas tree........ Happy Lk 2:11..........
For sure! Your cage is great.
That Honda will last another 19.
