In order to avoid copyright issues as much as possible I think donations would be a bad idea unless Valve were to give them the OK.

Just out of the realm of curiosity, are you following Marc's actual writing of Epistle 3? If so there's some Pointers you need to be aware about as well as some contradictions in his writing. Me and my friends took notice, and we were hardcore fans of the series, and just thought we point them out to you.
1: Alyx Vance shooting Mossman and Betraying Gordon.
Over the course of the series, it has shown that Alyx has been growing warm with Gordon for some time, so question is why betray him to the Gman? It makes no sense, and from what I read of Epistle 3 it barely even delves into it. That and Alyx shooting Mossman for legitimately no reason doesn't make sense either since it was shown in HL2 that Mossman was truely with the Resistance. I honestly hope this will be a scrap concept and replaced with something better imo.
2: Breen Advisor Grub abomination
We all saw breen fall at the end of Half Life 2, are you going to bring him back for this as well or scraping that?
I understand there are some out there who crave for a HL3 but we all have to come to agreement and point out flaws, and I can say if some steps are not taken carefully, it could end up a shit show. This is because I care about the series, and these are concerns.

I saw a lots of projects like this, from Half-Life to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.. But most of them ended up being scam or just fail. I really hope this is NOT one of them. It looks perfect. I believe in you guys!

This game is 100% fan made. They even re-master some songs from HL2. I would like to see some new things on a new game. If you want to keep everything original and within the theme HL, so you will have a bad time, since everyone is expecting a sequel game for more than 10 years. The project feels well polished at this moment and it seems that it is in good hands. I'm hoping for the future of Project Borealis, please make it as good as you can.
After 10 years and 1 poorly spin-off, everyone is looking for something better, at least at the VaLve standard. The last game had very intriguing situations, dialog and story.
I can tell by this already that at least the crappy level design and models won't be in this like hdtfm

Yeah. Well you can already see that there is so much actual content and actual gameplay prototypes, and designs that are actually good. So it would never be as bad as what one poor exploited amateur did all alone with no talent for any of the fields required.

We've had Black Mesa which turned out of similar quality to Half Life 2 and I can't wait for Xen, but we've also had Hunt Down The Freeman. Call me catiously optimistic.

I read the Laidlaw blog. It feels like even if we have episode 3, we still don't have an ending. It just ends up inside another one of GMan / the vorts slow portals. At this stage I feel like valve should just make a movie, an animation.... hell even a comic book like they did with portal. Just anything to let me know how it *ends*. Am looking forward to PB coming out, but jeez. I need half life closure.
All Ep 3 has to do is close the Combine arc the way the first game finished off its own initial/Xen invasion arc. It doesn't need to necessarily have a conclusive end for Gordon. That sort of thing can be done in another game, or other media, like you suggest, but Ep 3 is simply there (well SHOULD be, and hopefully WILL be with this fan thing) to conclude the Combine stuff.

I cant quite put my finger on it but your cenarios lack somethin in their atmosphere. It might be related to lighting and colors

This looks beautiful, but the problem is that the animation style and the graphics don't look very similar to the half life series, still good work tho.

I can't see any 100% fan-made project without making 10 steps back. The last one was a disaster, full of bugs, glitches and story. It seems that making a HL3 game it's very tricky. You will 10M only for sound art and ambient design, (this kind of worries). It look like something that comes from an fan's heart, that didn't make this for him or his friend neither money,. It's risky. If you want to do something 10/10 you will have a bad time. Nothing will replace an original (minded to be cannonic) game, be aware so you will not fall into the "hype acid" , where even a well put together piece of art is criticized for not being 1000000% faithful with the series or not having god like standards, that was expected from the community.
If the hype and the development don't stop this attempt... Well, we might see something worth out money. Better then any EA game... or TK2 game (RDR2).
