Love the inkwork on your left arm bro! And TY! Im doing this on the wheels on my current classic motorcycle project . looks WAAAY too good not to!!! An artist is his hardest critic. You are on yourself. Pursuit of perfection. Mount em n roll em! lookin GREAT!
Yeah I think it looks perfect, so much so I'm gonna keep digging see if there is a product like it in Australia. Thanks for attention to detail and all the tips.
love your upfront views..I was thinking to myself ..What if you were able to pre heat the rims and then do you base work out..maybe after each coat heat them again..kind of like a powercoat..just a thought...
I did a helmet once where I painted it gloss black and did a very fine mist over the black with hardly any coverage and it looked like black chrome. The helmet owner loved it and brought other parts to do and it worked out well. I've never clear coated any of those parts either. It looked good for a while until it gets rubbed on or waxed. Just refrain from touching it during the procedure.
When I experimented later, I shot the gloss black and while it was still wet, I shot/ misted the silver over the black and that caused the silver to adhere to the black. When I did airbrush fade work on lettering, I sprayed wet on wet. That eliminated the use of a clearcoat. It didn't wax off either. Overspray where it was not on the surface of lettering, I used aerosol window cleaner to remove that, but the paint stayed on the wet lettering. Old sign painter trick.
For what you started with, really great product. I could see the results on camera when you sprayed a circular pattern, might be easier to keep the coverage the same considering how you have to set your gun up. I would send it!! Those are nice. If you’re not happy, repaint them. Just because I like,I’m also not there in person looking at them. Great content!!!!!
Great Vid ! I get the inset issue on the wheels, hard to spray. Would you recommend Motochrome for fiberglass bumper application❓ Question re: Spraygun maint.: Any tips on greasing aging spray guns? I struggle between getting trigger/felt lubricated, but not wanting fisheyes😳! Lastly what (online?) paint company would you recommend for a value-priced 1K, Eastwood? Your Medium truck cab 1K vid is one of your most highly popular!
Ok so for Eastwood I honestly have no idea. The customer supplied that paint on that job. I’ve never bought East wood paint. For you paint gun they make lube for paint guns. My local store sells it but I’m sure you can search online for “paint gun lube” and find something. It’s made so it doesn’t cause fish eyes or mess anything up. As far as using this on a fiberglass bumper id guess it’s work great if it’s smooth as glass and you follow all the manufacturer steps. Thanks for watching it means alot
The chrome paint, which is an ultrafine ground aluminum usually, winds up looking like polished aluminum at best. I've only seen it look good on RC car bodies because they're absolutely slick, you paint in reverse, so there's no "prep" to worry about to getting a glass like surface. I've used so many brands of this stuff and it's all the same. As soon as you hit it with clear, it always gets wonky. Now the Spectra-Chrome that Dennis Anderson used on Digger, that's a Silver Nitride process that is basically what a mirror is coated with. That's a chemical reaction process and that stuff is cool, but damn pricey. I've used the Alsa stuff years ago, which it too was tricky AF! Too much and it yellows out bad, too little and you're chasing your tail. Water has to be pure and clean that it's rinsed with and so on. But when you nail it, it's killer!
On a side draft booth wouldn't you want to face the wheels downstream from the intake filters, so your paint surface would be shielded by the backside of the wheel.Dirty air movement would be toward you and you could dust the product on without the trash getting in it. Just a thought.
Great video, keeping it real. I believe that product would work great but probably have to do a high end paint job on the rims with a lot of wet sanding maybe all the way to 3000 on the primer and paint with a cut and buff after color sanding. I’ll send you a picture in a couple of weeks because I’m going to try this out on my Ram 2500 rims
The wiping on this is actually very essential for success, because this product contains TIN which is VERY SOFT and need to be SMEAR polished to get best results.
