I love the look of black chrome. I have a 2016 Ford Escape titanium with boring silver wheels. I think the black chrome would look good with the Ruby Red Metallic exterior paint color. I just need to find a good powder coat company where i live in Canada.
They’ll look great on that colour. Whereabouts in Canada are you? Depending on where you are I might be able to suggest some places that I know do good work
I live just across the boarder in New York . Not sure where you are in Canada lol but if your any where near Cornwall I am only a few minutes across the river .
Always a great job. I did have a question that seems to have a split answer. Question: I bought a metallic powder and I love the color. It's just not metalic enough for me. I want to see more shimmer. More bling in the color. Can I mix more metal flakes in the powder? What would you suggest. What would give a base metalic color more vibrant sparkle?
Great video! Do you think the clear coat is mandatory over the powder coat? If it's the case I'll ask the shop add a clear coat on top of powder coating!
Man this looks great, just did my own set of wheels in this colour unfortunately I can’t say it came out as good. The colour is significantly darker and I got those little black dots on 3 of my 4 wheels and a bit of orange pealing after the clear. (After 2 coats the chrome and 1 of the clear) perhaps I went a little heavy on the coats. Any recommendations you might have to help I’d really appreciate to hear. As of now back to sending them out to be chemically stripped……
Yeah I found the same, it takes a lot more powder to get it to stick right. Though it does seem to reduce back ionization issues. I'm fine with the extra powder waste personally, my biggest complaint is powder likes to stick on the inside of the nozzle. I find I have to shake it out often to avoid blobs of powder shooting onto the part.
That nozzle does use more powder but it allows you to get close to the part to get into tight faraday areas, without getting back ionization. I use it all the time with my KK 2.0 DPW.
Hey brother! This is looking minttttt. Love your work and would get all my stuff to you is I were anywhere close to your shop. I’ve got a question for ya. Building a Harley with gold theme this winter. Gonna get a bunch of stuff coated and am looking for that gold plated, super smooth and glossy finish for a bunch of the parts combined with the body panels being gunship gray and also some black into the color scheme. What would be your recommendation when it comes to certain powders to achieve this and is there any key questions to ask a powder coating shop in order to get the right results. Some of the parts are Gonna be in the engine bay for instance, but I do believe that I’ll have to get those parts hard anodized instead to handle the heat. Keep going man!🔥🏆
Not sure about the corona ring either lol I’ve shot with gema as well and never felt the need for it with everything having a really good finish anyway 🤷♂️ everything comes out way better with a doable coat in my opinion keep up the good work 👍👍👍
If I was to two tone motorcycle wheels half purple and half green would I just spray half and then partially cure it and then spray the other half and wipe off the partially cured area then go back in oven and fully cure it?
yes but you will want to make sure your colors can overlap without issue, I would suggest shooting a sample panel. I would also spray the "top" half first, that way you can let gravity help you get powder to just the other half when hanging
Well in my 16 years of business my 5 year warranty has been called into use two times.... Getting under 3 layers of powder would be impressive. Especially a urethane
What is the best clear coat that I can buy just a few pounds of ? I know tyger I think I have to buy a minimum of 10 pounds which I am not at that level tho I know in the long run I would save money it’s about upfront cost right now and also storage . So what do you recommend for clear from any wheres I can buy just a few pounds ?
How much does it cost to powder coat 2 Sportster wheels and how long does it take? Colors I would want is a high gloss black, with the most Holographic multicolor powder and clear?
Is this supposed to be an actual black chrome? I got this powder to try for a project. Mine came out to look more like a charcoal, i didnt do the clear at that point. Is charcoal the color or did i mess up?
Hit lots of car events, or events for whatever avenue you want to powder coat within. Find the popular cars or whatever and offer them free work to get your name out
Damn that looks good bro.im about to pull the trigger and buy a hot coat pcs1000.I've heard good reviews that it's a quality unit and you can run dual coats and metallic powders through it well.any info on this gun.have you ever used it before and would it be good for every day use like it claims.
It's literally the worst gun you can get. It's casually referred to as the POS1000. Anyone who says it's a good unit has never used an even decent quality gun
No problem. I am only mentioning it because I powder coat as well and build motorcycles. That surface and the rotor is a critical fastener and you can't get a proper torque spec with powder and it will eventually loosen and cause the hole to wallow out. @@UnknownCoatings

Hey thank you so much for this! I truly appreciate your kind words, and love to hear im making an impact!
for your question 6:40 , 70% cure means to get the maximum gloss appearance as well as to bind the 2nd coat together.
Thank you for that
The best powder coat finish i have ever seen. Wish you were here in India.
Keep up the good work my friend ❤
Ya, you're my pic for sure, ninja flow time lapse works for sure while downloading your tech tips

yes as long as the flake is safe at temperature. Some flake the color burns out at like 300 degrees F

Any thoughts on the Big Mouth nozzle Columbia Coatings sells? I have it and it seems to help but man does it use A LOT of powder.

maybe its just the camera vs in person but this looks like metallic grey?

Hi, can you tell me the clear coat that you like? I couldn't understand something about Tigers bun...?
Tiger Drylac has a product called Bengal CLear and its my favorite
👋
When you say 70% cure, is it the dame temp just a shorter period of time in the oven?
yes same temp but shorter time!
What about black chrome 2 ? Can we see that
absolutely!
I would like to see Forged Charcoal | from Prismatic refinishing 3pcs wheels
I think I have that in a video already!
This kinda close to Enkeis SBC paint?

Do u sandblast every wheel even brand new and polished aluminum
yes, powder requires a mechanical bond
No metal prep treatment? What stops substrate corrosion and delamination when moisture eventually finds it's way beneath the coating?

hmm I dont have any I love. Black Chrome II probably.
