      @Durval Clinton He knows his cricket.. the most lethal..Marshal, Holding, Garner, Croft and Roberts ever... working together at some point or another.. Aussies had to bite dust on quite a few occasions.. Also Wasim , Imran and Waqar..

    • @carlmarks8170
      @carlmarks8170 2 года назад

      @@tapanbhattacharjee9180 Their careers of Marshall and Andy Roberts only overlapped for 9 test matches played over 3 or 4 different series. Never against Australia. That famous quartet played 2 consecutive tests on the 1980 tour of England, and they were together for the 1983 home series vs India. Roberts was nearing the end of his career. Marshall, Holding and Garner were the 3 mainstays during Marshall's first 50 test matches from 1979-1986; with a revolving door of bowlers in the 4th slot... Roberts (9 matches), Colin Croft (7), Sylvester Clarke (6), Wayne Daniel (5), Winston Davis (10), Eldine Baptiste (7), Roger Harper (16), Patrick Patterson (6) and Courtney Walsh (9), plus few others for 1 or 2 tests. (These all add up to more than 50 matches because the Windies often played 5 bowlers; and Holding & Garner missed a few tests here and there with injuries.)
      Imran Khan should not be grouped with Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis. His best days as a bowler were well behind him in the 13 test matches he played with those other two from 1989-1992.. He took just 21 wickets at average of 35.00. Wasim & Waqar took 70 wickets apiece at an average of 21.00 and 19.00 in that time period. It was a formidable duo. Not a trio.
      Why am I not surprised you didn't mention the Aussie bowling attack of Warne, McGrath, Gillespie, Lee (and MacGill) ? They dominated. They probably took more wickets and won more test matches for their country than any other bowling combo.

      @@dutchvanderlinde2488 the west indies did not lose a test series between 1980-1995. For fifteen years! (except for the 1981 new zealand tour where they had racist umpires). I once saw Imran khan saying in an interview that their goal did not use to be to think about winning or drawing the series against the windies, their aim in that period used to be to prevent a thorough thrashing. I read tendulkar's autobiography. Tendulkar was to debut against the west indies. But the board was afraid to expose the teenager to the frightening west indies quicks, so they delayed his debut.

      And that whitewash of England that you talked about, Courtney Walsh was the waterboy during the whole series! A man who later went on to take 500 test wickets!

    In terms of skills with the ball I'd say only Wasim Akram was better than Macco (not by much). What a fine bowler Malcolm was. Amazing how he and Wasim over such short run ups could generate that much zip of the wicket regardless of the state of the pitch. The amazing thing about Macco was he was a small man but could still hit you with a skiddy bouncer.

      @UC4o6WpHjOaL1Lcm_3iDEx4g I'd say Wasim was a better exponent of reverse swing than Macco. He along with Waqar mastered the art. I never claimed who was the better bowler overall. That is subjective.

      @@shahmianas8512 Well I saw Both Of Them at Their Prime And Marshall Was A Fast bowler Of Different Dynamics All together,As Far as Skills concerned Dont know how Wasim or Anyone Has bettered Him in That He surely Is best in That And Edges Out akram too,He maintained His Pace For nearly Throught His carrer with Exceptional Control and With most Mean bouncer Even more than of Andy Roberts.Never Saw someone as Good as Him.
      He could Hit anyone Still remember His Feroucius spell at kanpur or in that Whole series.
      And He was A Gentleman Whereas Akram Was A Highly controversial Cricketer.

      @@kunalsingh3121 mate you are bringing in variables i didn't even bring up. I was talking about reverse swing and the ability to make the ball do things. Macco could certainly swing it but no one revolutionised reverse swing like Akram. He could reverse the ball both ways. Steyn was the only bowler in recent times I saw who could match that slightly. Still not even close to Akram.
      Gentleman or controversial has nothing to do with what I'm saying. Please understand.
