- Malcolm Marshall was perhaps the finest of West Indies' many formidable fast bowlers of the 1980s, endowed with fierce pace, swing, cut, a vicious bouncer, and above all, the ability to outthink any batsman.
"Swing and cut, speed and bounce, and smarts above all - Maco had everything except height, and even that lack he turned into an asset" - Mike Selvey

Greatest fast bowler ever
Rest of peace Mr Malcolm Marshall
In an era of great West Indian fast bowlers, he is unanimously hailed as the greatest of them all.
That speakes volumes. The complete fast bowler.
The fast bowler's fast bowler.
Best bowler. Gives me goosebumps on seeing his bowling
Malcom Marshall was a Hurricane in world cricket, balls deceptively shrewd way and kept all batsmen guessing in two minds. Legendary classy speedstar
He was just as shrewd as you kanadigas who promised to vote for BJP and then voted for congress for freebies
This guy, is always alive to me as long as the game of cricket is still been played.
Give a team a Malcolm Marshall and a Wasim Akram, and you don't need a third pace bowler. Between them, they had everything in the repertoire. Pace, accuracy, seam, swing- both new and old, cutters, pace variations, deception and finest bowling brains. And a left right combination.
@Andy Butler I will have Dennis Lillee.
@Andy Butler Was that Sarcastic really ?
correct@@kunalsingh3121
Absolutely awesome cricketer.I agree....he was the best ever fast bowler.
Truly THE BEST...
Rest In Peace...
What devastating and fiery weapons this man had! The greatest. RIP Sir...
Miandad who had played Lille at EVERY stage of Lillees career, played Holding, Roberts (at there quickest) said that off the wicket Marshall was the quickest.
He was the smartest as well , he is always at you no let off . A batsmen's nightmare
But Lillee and Roberts were probably more complete and had better control with ball than Marshall.
In my opinion, Lillee and Roberts is the best duo with new ball to start in Test Cricket.
The best. Period. And his colleagues Holding, Roberts and Garner my god what a force to behold as a kid in the 80's.
No.... BARNES was the best..... Period... Sorry
Watching cricket in the 1980s, my two favourite bowlers were Sir Richard Hadlee and Malcolm Marshall. Both had wonderfully smooth bowling actions.
Both were handy all-rounders as well
Great bowler and a genuine threat to then batsmen.
Marshall was a legendry fast bowler. The unique thing about him that he was not a tall guy..The most popular fast bowler amongst the all fast bowlers of the 80's.
The best and greatest fast bowler of all time MALCOLM MARSHALL
Was just a kid when he was playing , still remember him just like yesterday, listening to him on the radio.
In My Humble opinion the Greatest off them all he had everything the complete fast bowler..
I think dale steyn would be greatest bowler to play test cricket see the records on dead subcontinental wickets no one came cloae to him even earlier asian pitches used to be more bouncier before 2005
2nd will be the great wasim
My favourite was Holding but I have to say....Marshall was the greatest.
He had to share wickets with Holding, Garner and Walsh. If not he would’ve been the leading wicket taker for fast bowlers in Test cricket.
@@maddy729 ? Waqar Younis at his peak was ahead of Wasim. Akram the best left armer of all time, but behind at least 5 great right armers. Top of those are Dennis Lillee & Malcolm Marshall.
@@Narendersingh-id5ng Might want to view footage of Australia's greatest ever fast bowler in Dennis Lillee. Greatest of them all.
The Man, the Malcolm, the Marshall.🙏🙏
The greatest in my opinion..those skidding bouncers..able to move of the seam and swing as well at that pace. Rarely one would find him giving a lackluster performance no matter where.
We miss you Malcom
Maco is the fastest, greatest, furious, lethal fast bowler in the history of world cricket. No question about it.
Marshall was one of the fastest not the fastest ever bro
West indies will be back. No matter how long it takes. We will rise again
I would love to see WI team at the top again..with the likes of holder, roach, hetmayr I'm really getting a positive vibe bro..
coming from an Indian fan here..
I do hope so, a strong West Indies is great for cricket
Love and respect for those era all west indies express bowlers....they r all legends❤️❤️❤️❤️
I never got to see the 2 bowlers who I wanted to be. Being an Aussie, not Lillie, but Jeff Thompson, and because I wasn't 6'5, not even 6', and told over and over again not to bother bowling fast, I heard about Malcom Marshall, and I only got to see him at the end of his career, but wow! To young kids, you DON'T have to be 6'5 to be a great fast bowler, it helps, but M.M. proves a truely great fast bowler can be shorter than the norm'. Simple action, and hard work.
Once Andy Roberts said that for a fast bowler in Test Cricket, there is no need for more than 6'3 stature.
Paying my tribute to the legend.
And a magnificent voice from the narrator !!
In my World Dream Team, #MalcolmMarshall and #WasimAkram would open the bowling!! The opposing Team can bring on any top order batsman they want and i will give each of them two lives each...!!!!
Abraham Jos @ Brian Lara and greenidge will open against them
I would bring in Steyn as 1st change. Then Warne & Murali to clean up what’s left of the opposition line up.
Don't need to add Waseem all the fast bowlers of that era were lethal.
Yes... my bowler would be BARNES and he would get ALL your batsmen out for very...little-take that!
i don't think there's any other choice really.
my favorite bowler one of the best
Every thing in world has its time span. Late Malcom Marshal (peace be to his soul) once said in an interview in India which I remember that before 1983 World cup he had booked a sports car so that he could enjoy the moment of victory of third World Cup by then WI team because they were so sure to win that World Cup but then that day of June 1983 when Kapil Devs team won the World Cup, shifted the fulcrum of world cricket towards the sub-continent and it was a water shed moment in world of cricket.
Coming to Late Malcom Marshall given the matches he played in India it can said some day he was on top & ahead of Indian Batsmen and other day in other match Indian Batsmen were way ahead of him and Indian batsmen would strike him to various corners of the field when after World Cup when West Indies toured India.
More particular was the stance Sir Sunil Gavaskar took when he would take stance about one and a half foot ahead of the crease and thus he adjusted to line & length of Makcom Marshall and if viewers remember he scored one of the quickest century in that test match at Delhi and that day Sunil Gavaskar was on top. But I have seen many players in Indisn team in their tributes how much respect Malcom Marshall's enjoyed. But it will not be Exasuration if we do not talk about Indian Batsmen who equally comanded respect in WI team and I do not know how many people remember Sir Clive loyad once said about Mohinder Amarnath in those days and I watched one such Interview on DD in which he said that Mohinder Amarnath in words of Sir Loyad was the best batsman at that point of time had thr best technique on field to face the pace battery of WI bowlers who were bowling firy spells at that point in time & I do not know how many people remember the unorthodox batting stance of Mohinder Amarnath who would keep his boot stance diagonally towards cover and not parallel to crease. And mind you there were peole in 1983 who would not like to give credit to Indian team in those days but then in 1985 the same world was victorious in Benson & Hedges mini world cup in Australia where India defeated Pakistan in the final and footage of it is available on You tube.
I would believe he is the one who took cricket to the other side , and I know he is playing right now , keep on playing Malcolm I'll meet you over there one-day
He was the man
Malcolm Marshall versus Martin Crowe.
Classic face off always in the 80's.
May both of them rest in peace.
Legends both.
Best bowler in cricket history
@Dark warrior bro all the great bowlers are defined as one of the great bowlers but actually he is the greatest even Wasim Akram said he is the greatest
@@manjulakr9637 prove it ?
Although I never played a cricket but if possible I wanted to become a bowler Malcolm Marshall. He was devastated on his day.

How about this team
I think my team can throw a proper challenge to yours 😉
PS: If you agree , I only take Sir Sobers from your team to replace Botham. Then it will be a more even contest.
@@tirthankarbanerjee8737 No Viv Richards ???? Absolute garbage...
@@kunalsingh3121 Viv Richards is already in 1st xi. I just prepared another test xi to face them.
@@tirthankarbanerjee8737 Err....I don't realise this was a XI to face that all time XI.....Barry Richards and Grame Pollock haven't played enough cricket to be in same bracket as Viv, Lara, Sobbers etc...I will rather go for Greenidge who is criminally underrated due to brilliance of Viv....I would also go for a Waqar Younis instead of Dale Steyn......In his peak he was outstanding.......Why not Allan Knott or Dujon ahead of Marshy ??? Though Roadney was my fav WK growing up.
no Lillee? no idea, no cred and don't bother reading this nonsense.. Sydney Barnes.. bollocks
My Idol for Fast Bowling, Carnage guarantee! His Incutter were unplayable. But over all WI pace attacks in early 70s to Late 90s were good but 70-90 were the best.
Best Fast Bowler of All Times.
Malcolm was the best
Marshall the greatest for sure!
look at the sharp bouncer at 1:52 that arise to the batsman's chest height like a bullet..
He died of cancer. That was so sad for a fan like me...!!
Great right arm fast bowler ever
Diamonds are forever. 👌🙏
What a Legend
Great bowler, after that never heard of him until his last unfortunately bedridden moments, any last glimpses of him?
18th April.... Happy birthday Legend
Simply The Greatest Ever Malcolm Denzill Marshall,Seeing The Game For a Good Period Of Time Malcolm is The Greatest fast bowler thats ever Lived 😎😎😎😎😎.And His mate Vivian Richardas Best batsman To play The Game for me
RIP dean jones
How do I begin or describe him.
With all due respect I would like to call him Malcolm Terror Marshall the man who terrorised batsmen the world 🗺 over with his menacing pace, bounce & incredible bowling skills.
The greatest bowler one could ever come across.
RIP Sir
Absolutely fast
most intelligent and fast bowler in the world
Marshall was the best. Even in placid subcontinent pitches he was lethal
can't believe no one's mentioned this yet. the guy's head when he jumped and followed through is still and upright as a rock. that's where his accuracy originates. similarly, mcgrath's head doesn't move. his eyes are on the spot where he wants to bowl at all times
the wild tiger. great legend 👒👒👒👒👒👒👒👒👒👒👒👒👒👒👒👒
Fast bowling phenomenon
Great man
A true great!
@carntspell I think the trajectory played a huge part in Marshall's deceptive pace. Because of his below average height and very quick arm rotation, the ball seemed to gain pace off the pitch and the bounce could never be gauged. Sort of skidding on to the bat. No wonder, his short balls were considered quite menacing by most established batsmen of the time.
Indeed a great great player...
Greatest fast bowler ever. Marshall daylight everyone else
Dennis Lillee?
@@graemealexander8804 while Dennis was certainly an atg he wasn't better than Marshall. As a matter of fact, imo , Lillee isn't even Australia's best fast bowler. That would be Glenn McGrath. McGrath is certainly in the argument for greatest ever.
@@sliferxxxx Lillee was better than Mcgrath...Mcgrath can't get you on edge of your seat..
The best fast bowler ever
@RisingEdge111 He started out as a chap who was just above fast medium. Around 1980-81, he had built up a yard or two and it was perhaps in the 1982-83 series against India that he truly became a complete fast bowler. At his peak as a fast bowler (1982-1987), I'd imagine he would have averaged around 90 mph with several deliveries in the 93-95 mph zone.
Of course, he was a very intelligent bowler. On many occasions (esp. in England) he'd prefer to bowl fast medium and swing it devastatingly.
He was very fast even when he started....I have a look at him in WACA perth against Western Australia in a sheld games and he was quick...but was very raw at the time...only 21 so that isn't surprising either..
And Marshall's top speed would be 98mph-99mph
R.I.P Malcolm Marshall Dean Jones Richie Benaud Tony Greig & Shane Warne .
Malc was severely dangerous .. l can’t imagine how the batsmen felt going out to face him
Dude, did he have two different bowling actions?
He might have been the greatest.. I agree.. because of his cricket brain .. but for me I still say Micheal holding was the quickest.. something about watching a man glide then Boom..
2nd best bowler of all time
If you get praise from Wasim Akram that's one hell of an accolade
My GOAT is Wasim, Surprise his GOAT is Malcom Marshel
best bowler ever, sorry lillee
Muhammad Asif is the best bowler in the history of world cricket
Joel Garner and MM were the best. Joel doesn't get the kudos he deserves.
I spoke personally to Joel Garner & he stated the greatest fast bowler he & his West Indian quartet had ever seen was Dennis Lillee. Speaks volumes. Marshall is the greatest fast bowler ever to play on Australian shores. He & Lillee are the greatest.
Lillee never toured the subcontinent, and Marshall was unplayable even on dead Indian and Pakistani pitches.
Not much true there were only few Asian tours in Lillees time one of India 1979 was banned due to Packer, played in Pak in 1979 with broken back bowled with a brack brace and serious health conditions...Also played in one of test vs Sl in 1983
Hadlee too performed exceptionally well in India and Srilanka (sun-continent wickets)
Can there be this bowling line up again ? NEVER EVER INDEED ! Imagine
you have to face the very dangerous Andy Roberts Joel Garner next change
is Michael Holding and Malcolm Marshall...all four very different and
styles strategies . What an era that was and many have missed this era
and will never ever understand what these 4 names were in bowling for
oppositions and batsmen world over. Absolute terror its like getting
slaughtered murdered killed going into bat & facing them. As if
entering a cage of vicious wild animals full of Lions Tigers Cheetahs
Panthers . Patterson Walsh Bishop Ambrose were the last recognized
dangerous famous 4 from West Indies after the Fab4 Never even in cricket
history Man of the Match semifinal and the finals 1983 World Cup Hero
Super Star Mohinder Amarnath is the most highly underrated player in the
world. 1982 Imran Khan said he is the best in the world for playing
fast bowling especially Bouncers short deliveries highest scorer in that
1982 series in Pakistan , 1982 1983 West Indies tours Viv Richards said
Jimmy Amarnath plays west indian bowlers and all global quick genuine
fast bowlers the best. I have seen him play since 1980s he got hit on
head jaws face nose got injured the most like no other player ever in
cricket history you can check about him and you will be shocked to know
how brave and courageously Mohinder Amarnath hit the hook shots attacked

Wasim says Malcolm is the greatest fast bowler . Discussion ends .
Why West Indies stop to brought that kind of bowlers
I'd say the best fast bowler ever, Hadlee would probably be second for me
Stats say differently: Lillee, Hadlee, Marshall about the same
@@stephenwright1476 how ?
From the thumbnail I thought its Murali..
Voice over is very good, what's his name
@sliferxxxx I would agree with that. Although IMHO, R J Hadlee and Marshall would share the top spot.
@lanek214 5'10" or about 1.78 metres.
Best bowler Marshall but this time I have a Mohammad shami like him
🐐
Was his speed ever recorded
I want to know the same.....
95mph

For the betterment of cricket, the comeback of west indies is mandatory...I lost all hope from india , because here IPL circus and money matters, which has nothing to do with one day and test cricket.
I wonder what speed MM used to bowl at? Can anyone say?
He was the fastest in the eighties
@@Vinodkumar-fg1qm Dujon said Patrick Patterson was the fastest. Dujon kept wicket to all of them.
90mph
@@RisingEdge111 Well Dujon never kept to Andy Roberts and Michael Holding at their fastest....Andy clocked 159 km/h rocket in 1975 just behind Jeff Thomson...
@@kunalsingh3121 Dujon did to Holding. They were both in the Jamaica national team in the mid 1970s onwards where Holding was the premiere bowler. Dujon went on to keep for Holding in the WI when Holding was just about 27-28. Still at his best. Dujon kept to Roberts when Roberts was around 30 or so. I would think that Roberts was still near or at his fastest.
How much was his fastest ball
When Wasim says youre the best must be true

I don't know Thorpe and Jones knows about Marshall. They r kids in front of that legend. Better interview gavaskar, vengsarkar, kapildev, chappel brothers , etc.
Don't make videos with child's.
