That 7/1 in Perth is the most devastating spell of fast bowling I’ve seen. I saw a lot of Roberts, Holding, Garner, Marshall, Mitchell Johnson and Donald but this was something else. I didn’t see Thomson in his prime. My earliest memory of him is the collision in the field with Alan Turner.

Bro had McGrath's Line and Length
    Pace of Akhtar and Lee

Probably the best overall Test bowler of the 90s: 405 Test wickets at 20.99. I think he could have played another 3 years through to 2003 WC and 2003 AUS v WI Test series if he had wanted to. Would have taken 500 Test wickets easily.

He'd be first on the team sheet for me, every time. Absolute legend, and I honestly feel that he was unlucky to *only* get 405 wickets in tests. The amount of times he went past the bat within a gnat's ball-hair width of the edge was unbelievable...
Best memories of Curtly? Got to be either the spell of 7 - 1 against Australia at the WACA in 1993. Or *that* slower ball that got Ian Healy out...

He was not happy and had a go at the interviewer about how it was easy for him, but " you get out there and see what it's like; even with a bowling change you face another bowler as fast and dangerous as the first one." That was the truth and that was the public's awe and appreciation of the West Indies - not forgetting their great batsmen and that great captain Clive Lloyd.
