Brian Charles Lara, a distinguished striker of the ball and arguably the best batsman the game has ever seen. The way his opponents would rejoice when they got him out cheap, you'd think they'd won the game. Impeccable timing, poise and class, that was Brian Lara.
Nothing can beat for me , the joy nervousness excitement of watching this match 24 years ago ,late night on television in india. Wat a game. Wat an adrenaline rush. Brian Charles Lara, this generation missed the chance to witness u.
This made tears of joy 😭 came out of my eyes, Brian Charles Lara 🇹🇹🏏 is my Hero ... I wish the current West Indies team bring back victories like this for the Caribbean .❤️❤️❤️
1999 Aus vs WI series was in my opinion the greatest test series I have seen, even ahead of 2005 Ashes. We Australians always had a huge regard for Ambrose, Walsh and of course Lara. All three greats of the game who you could never rule out that they could steal victory from you.
@@hero-rj9zu I don't recall the West Indies ever being booed. Maybe there was a few specific instances due to some on-field event, but it was never a common thing. People used to love seeing the Windies tour.
Nah. WI were never booed in Australia, even when we were top dogs. In fact, the only places Brian Lara has ever been booed have been in the West Indies: sabina 1999, the second innings of the Bridgetown test that followed and Bourda in guys in 2003 vs the Aussies again. On every occasion he responded with centuries
This was vintage Lara. Coming off a disastrous series against SA, he was put on notice when he played a great 213 and then this . An innings for a lifetime.
I remember in the middle of this series, must have been either after the first test or before the third, an Australian commie said that test cricket was dead. Michael Holding in response during the lunch break of this mesmerizing, magical 5th day said test cricket can’t be dead if you have a fighting West Indies. I don’t think even he realized how prophetic those words would prove to be just about three or four hours later
You sounds just like some women though. When the money flowing you will stay but as soon as he lost his job you done and gone.😂😂😂 While I'm not happy now they are losing I will continue to support them and I don't only watch cricket when WI are playing like some do. I've seen India skittled out for just 36runs in a test, yes 36 and England too under 50 I think and WI were out for 47 against PK in Sharjah. I'm sure they are others. Chicago bulls is not the same now that MJ and the others are not around but if you see the stands when they are playing ...that's called support and fans and they don't even make playoffs. So Continue to watch those were the days and and enjoy 👊👊
No words to express... In front of top bowling squad n that to at the top of their career..... No other match even come closer to this one.....always Great Brian Lara
I remember standing in front of the TV in shop with many others, holding our breaths while our hearts beat so fast, afraid that any moment the last wicket will fall. But Walsh held out long enough for WI to win
I remembered the way I felt watching that innings from Brian Lara. The great man once again demonstrated under extreme pressure how to get it done. As a young man you brought me lots of joy watching you dominate. Thank you Brian.
For my money the greatest test match innings of all time to win a test match no doubt about it what a absolutely magnificent innings from the genius bat of Brian Charles Lara unforgettable.
This has to be one of the top 5 test matches in the history of the sport. Brian Lara and Steve Waugh scored their runs against pace bowling of the highest order. All the protagonists in this match(with the exception of warne) who turned out to be(in the case of ricky ponting) or already were greats of the game, had an exceptional match. That doesn't happen in test cricket very often
West Indies cricket board - do whatever it takes but please please bring back the glorious WI cricketing charms. We need it, the cricketing world needs it badly. It’s a big missing part. Love and best wishes from India ❤❤
@1:02, "This is not the sight that West Indies fans were hoping for...". The way Walsh is coming out gives the feeling that he forgot a few things like pad, gloves or even bat ;-). Best thing, he survived the 4 crucial balls.
Easily one of the greatest innings of all time! I remember being up all night watching this chase. Riveting and brilliant. It was a masterclass in how to construct an innings. A special player and a legend.
21 years now, still nobody could beat highest 4th innings chase by West Indies, which is 418 runs against Australia in 2003...wat an era that was for west indies, they were the first real world champions
Another fun fact. This chase remains the highest successful chase at Kensington Oval. It’s not an easy ground to chase on. Also, nobody in the second innings scored more than 50 with the exception of the Prince
Watching tailenders with 0 batting skill try to save a close game had its own entertainment factor during the 90s. Batsmen like Walsh, Ambrose, Muralitharan were warriors.

Fantastic batting by Walsh. Him surviving five balls on the trot is nothing short of a miracle.
True genius lara
Walsh is more famous in Middle class hindu Indians than in his own country and in his own family

@@macdeep8523 I guess that is because lower class Muslims used to be scared of Walsh.
